BLURB
There are plenty of firsts for a big league baseball player. There’s the first time up to bat. There’s the first time you hit a home run, and there’s the first time you go to bed with a man.
Eric’s team, the Charlotte Yellowjackets, has experienced the coming out of two players and a coach all in one season. Romance fever has gripped the fans, and straight arrow Eric fears everyone is ignoring his banner season. Then he meets Harley, the right fielder called up to replace his best friend, Chase.
Harley grew up as a small-town boy from southern Indiana. He’s been a journeyman over six seasons in the minor leagues. When he thinks his baseball career is nearly over, he’s called up by the Yellowjackets to take over right field. He’s muscular and fast, and he’s pursued only women until he meets Eric.
It’s not long before one night together turns into a relationship sharing custody of their dog, Rudy, from Harley’s local charitable cause, an animal shelter. They move in, come out, make plans for the future, and then the roof caves in. Will love, the support of friends, and a national movement of fans be enough to keep the new couple together?
First Time Up is a 55,000-word first-time-gay baseball romance. It is book 3 in the Living Legends series and includes characters from both earlier books, but it can be read as a standalone story. The book includes steamy scenes and a guaranteed happy ending.

REVIEW
My Rating - 5 Stars!
First Time Up is another great book in the Living Legends series by Declan Rhodes.
Harley's new to the team, and Eric is sent to pick him up at the airport.
Eric's always thought he was straight, but suddenly he's smitten by this new teammate.
Harley's a minor league vet who never thought he'd make it to the majors. And, he certainly didn't expect to find love when he did get the call.
Of course, we get more of Chase and Aaron, as well as Mo and Jack. Not only is it fun to catch up with them, they are also just as funny as ever.
I absolutely love and admire the friendship that develops between Eric and Harley. It is real, it is wonderful and it is strong. It's especially touching that they notice and appreciate the little things about each other.
Their relationship develops quickly, in a easy going and natural way, as they just compliment one another so perfectly. They share a lot of light hearted moments, some good humor, and just lots of fun.
One of my favorite things is that Harley appreciates Eric's kindness and good heart. This just shows how well they get to know each other and the strength of their bond, as they love each other for way more than just the amazing sex.
As for the sex, those scenes are amazing, as they are full of exploration and love.
Their romance may develop a bit fast, without much emotion or effort, but they have their share of angst once they are a couple. I actually love this part of the plot, as I am a sports fan and have always empathized with this aspects of their jobs.
Overall, I enjoyed First Time Up a lot. It's got a great plot, along with realistic complications, and the great writing style of Declan Rhodes.
