After spending his formative years in an abusive home, NICHOLAS WEBSTER has made a pretty good life for himself. He has friends, a lucrative job with Elite Protection Services, and a side gig that lets him help out those escaping the same abusive home situation he left behind. But no matter how many people he helps, he can’t escape the guilt over the one person he didn’t—his step-brother, Cyrus.

CYRUS WHITAKER has spent the last twenty years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, put there by the very person he vowed to protect. On the inside, he’s made strides to better himself so he can have a future on the outside. But just when he thinks there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, he receives a new cellmate—the boy who put him away all those years ago.

In trying to make things right, Webster has triggered a series of events that will ruin both their lives, or worse, end them. Somebody has framed him and sent him to a prison where they hope Cy’s need to get even will get rid of Webster for good. But they don’t know Cyrus or the bond they shared. A bond they still share. But can Webster figure out who’s doing this to them and why before Cyrus is forced to choose between hurting the one person he loves or spending his life in a cage?

ENDANGERED SPECIES is the first book in the Time Served Series and is a spin-off of the Elite Protection Services Series. It contains an HEA and no cliffhangers.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Endangered Species is a thrilling read by Onley James.  This is the first book in the Time Served series. If the rest of the series is like this, I can't wait!

As a spin off of Elite Protection Series, Webster is now in trouble and lands himself in danger. After finding something he shouldn't have in his research, he finds himself in prison, sharing a cell with his former stepbrother.

There are many layers to this story, all of which are fascinating. There's the history between the men, which in itself is heart-wrenching, yet beautiful with the way they cared for each other.

There's the danger in prison, which is present throughout. The guards have it out for Cy, and the fellows prisoners have it out for Webster. Their lives are constantly in danger and they have to be on their guard.

Their relationship in itself is wonderful. They bonded through their experiences as kids, and they continue to love one another. I love the way their need to keep safe leads them to a sizzling sex life and falling in love.

Then there's the overall case that Webster butted into. Cy has been wrongly imprisoned for the past 20 years. The case, and all the messy people involved, doesn't make things easy for these two. But you'll love how it all ends.

The writing continues to impress me. This author is absolutely addicting. The characters and their story are amazingly complex.  The author will grab your attention from the start and will take you on one hell of a ride.

Endangered Species is riveting and needs to be read in one sitting. This Onley James book will keep you turning the pages late into the night. Definitely check this one out the next time you're in the mood for a danger/action/suspense thriller.

Operation Fake Relationship by Jay Northcote

Cover Design: Garrett Leigh

Can a fake relationship between best friends turn into the real thing?

After years of estrangement from his parents, Nick is finally going home for Christmas, but not without backup. He wants moral support, so his best friend and flatmate, Jackson, agrees to pretend to be his partner so he can go with him.

It’s easy for Jackson to be convincing when his feelings for Nick are as genuine as ever. He put his crush on the back burner long ago, but acting out a role he’d love to play for real is harder than he imagined. Holding hands, kissing under the mistletoe, even sharing a bed for the sake of the charade... He can’t help wondering what he’s let himself in for, and whether his heart can take it.

Emotions run high as Nick grapples with family issues, and the sexual tension between him and his best friend becomes difficult to ignore. But if he and Jackson give into the temptation to be fake boyfriends with benefits over the holiday, what will it mean for their future as friends once Christmas is over?

Contains: best friends to lovers, pretend boyfriends, daddy issues, mistletoe, and a happy ending—of course.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Jay Northcote's Operation Fake Boyfriend is a fantastic romance. I love every moment of this friends to lovers tale.

If you enjoy best friends falling in love, you will adore Nick and Jackson's story. They're best friends and roommates, who discover some new found feelings during a fake relationship agreement.

There's so much to love about this romance. The forced proximity, the new feelings, and the family issues are all enjoyable. But, most of all, it's seeing Nick realize his feelings for his best friend that will leave you mushy. Having always known he loves Jackson, he never realized that he is actually in love with him.

Nick and Jackson are just meant to be. Seriously. They are a bromance that you'll love. Thus, seeing them turn from bromance to romance is wonderful.

As for the family issues, they add a lot to the story. Nick's issues with his father is heart wrenching, and we get a clear view into their problems. If you didn't understand Nick before this scene, you will after it. It's realistic, well developed, and will leave you satisfied with this reconciliation.

The writing is lovely, with everything we've come to expect from this author. The characters are relatable and likable. Their layers are evident, and there's plenty of secondary characters to add to the charm. The setting is great, and the scenes well established, including that with a pirate tree.

Operation Fake Relationship is a feel good Christmas romance. This Jay Northcote gem is the perfect choice when you're in the mood for a tender friends to lovers tale. I know it's going on my re-read list!

Rebel at Spruce High (Spruce Texas Romance, #5) by Daryl Banner

REBEL AT SPRUCE HIGH is the next upcoming book in the Spruce, Texas series. It follows introverted gamer and Biggie's Bites employee Toby as he enters his senior year at Spruce High. The arrival of a gorgeous, leather-jacket-clad new student has the whole high school abuzz with rumors and scandal - especially when the bad boy sets his eyes on Toby.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Rebel at Spruce High is a mesmerizing young adult romance by Daryl Banner. The fifth book in the Spruce Texas Romance series, it's everything I was hoping it would me. As an avid fan of young adult, coming of age tales, I was elated to get a chance to read this book.

This book does justice to many of the issues facing teenagers today. It also does a fabulous job illustrating that people's action aren't always motivated by what one would assume. I couldn't be more impressed by the way the author handles this.

If you've been reading the Spruce Texas series, you'll adore the appearances of many past characters. It's just fabulous. Making it even better though is the way the author handles them. I was actually confused at one point thinking "No! No! Please don't make me hate this character!"

Toby is the bullied boy at school. He's a total outcast, starting the new school year without all his friends who graduated. His bullying is front and center throughout, making some tough to read moments. Seriously, if bullying is a hard no for you, skip this book.

When he meets the new boy at school, Vann, he never expects the way the two will forever change each other.

Both Toby and Vann are outcasts, even at home. But together they find friendship, acceptance, confidence, and love. They each teach important life lessons to each other. Their journey towards mending relationships, learning to love oneself, and finding a purpose, is both long and beautiful.

The writing is amazing. Written in alternating 1st person pov, the emotions jump off the pages. Fear. Discomfort. Anxiety. Want. Confidence. Rage. Heartbreak. Devastation. Rejection. Love.

The most impressive aspect of this story is the multi-layered way different actions, emotions, and motivations are addressed. As the mom of two teens, I know first hand how teens react to things, taking them personally. It's great to see how different characters feel about the same moment. The author gives us these multiple perspectives and he does so in an impressive manner.

Rebel at Spruce High is the perfect choice for when you're in the mood for a heartwarming, young adult read. Daryl Banner is stellar in exploring the complexity of issues facing teens today, and illustrating the difficulty of relationships, whether it be family or friends. I couldn't put it down.  I would highly recommend this to anyone, and find it would be a great read for teens as well as adults.

My Rating - 3.5 Stars!

Stranded with Desire is an entertaining employee/boss romance by Vivien Dean and Rick R Reed.

Things start off with some action, as the prologue opens with a plane crash. With the first chapter, we get a look back at before the ill fated flight. Thus setting up Colby's feelings about his boss, Maine.

Maine's closeted and firmly locked in the closet. He's also engaged to a women on the board of his company. But spending some time stranded with Colby changes everything.

I enjoy the way they come together, help one another, and open up to each other. It's sweet and tender, making for a sweet read.

Their tale has some great twists and turns, in addition to family issues, company issues, and some big life decisions.

The writing is good, riveting from the start with a thrilling storyline and a great pace. That said, I don't prefer the present tense writing. Most of the time, I don't notice it in this story, but when I do, I cringe.

Overall, Stranded with Desire is an intriguing and riveting story of survival and love.

Prologue
Colby LaSalle never dreamed his life would end in a plane crash over the Cascade Mountains in Washington State. But here he was, whispering fevered petitions to the Lord as the plane screamed, plunging downward…faster, faster.

Out the windows, all he could see was white. And the only outcome he could imagine was that once that white cleared, the last thing he’d take in would be towering pine trees and the cold side of a mountain hurtling toward him. It was almost too horrific to comprehend.

In those few moments, as Colby braced himself in his seat, head down near his knees, he found himself thinking what a loss this was. The man across from him, his boss, Maine Braxton, would never know the most important thing about Colby. And that thing was not his proficiency as an administrative assistant, keeping Maine on track and on schedule in all his business affairs, but that Colby was passionately—and secretly—in love with him. With all his heart and soul.

That fact, and the unspoken words that hid it, seemed tragic to Colby, maybe even more tragic than the life he was about to lose. What kind of life, Colby wondered, did you really have if you’d never truly loved and been loved in return?

Colby, at twenty-eight, had never been in love before. And now it looked as though he would never have the chance to act on his desire, on that feeling that made his heart flutter whenever Maine walked by his desk. Was love like a tree falling in the forest? If the object of that love never knew of it, did it really exist?

Colby looked up for a moment, maybe to have a final look at Maine, but was distracted by the view through the cockpit window of the six-seater plane they were traveling in—a Beechcraft Bonanza. The opaque fog of white cleared for a moment, and Colby could see, to his horror, that his imagination was correct.

They were hurtling toward the side of a mountain. The view was surreal. Shock kept him from thinking it was anything other than a very vivid nightmare.

He then looked over at Maine and saw he had slid from his seat to the floor. The strong, powerful man cowered there, hands over his head. His lips moved in what Colby could only assume was silent prayer.

Colby longed to slide over, to cover Maine with his own body and shield him from the impact, but he was paralyzed, a butterfly pinned to a board, and could only add his own whispered prayers to those of his boss.

“Please, God, help us get out of this alive. Let Maine know how very much I love him. Give me that chance.”

The private pilot, a blustery, gruff man named Gus Pangborn but whom everyone just called Rooster, shouted, “We’re gonna try and go up! We’re gonna try and go up!”

Colby didn’t know if he was talking to him, Maine, or himself, but the desperation in the pilot’s gravelly voice was clear. The despair in Rooster’s words communicated one thing to Colby and one thing only—he had no hope.

Colby squeezed his eyes shut tight and placed his head back down toward his knees again, covering it with his hands, although he wondered how much good it would do once the plane crashed, once it was consumed by a giant fireball.

What Colby LaSalle didn’t realize, though, was that the plane crash would signal not the end of his life, but the beginning.

His for Hanukkah (Traditions #1) by Reese Morrison

Amazon Link - Available in KU
Goodreads Link

Most people like vacations. And Christmas. They both make Adam want to scream. And kick things. Anxious, lonely, Jewish, and in serious need of a Daddy, Adam finally loses it in the lobby of his favorite BDSM club--right in front of the guy he's been crushing on.

Tate's been dreaming about Adam for a long time. Trying to pick him up for a scene seemed to scare him away, and he worries that Adam wasn't as accepting of his transgender status as he'd hoped. But when the sobbing boy seeks comfort in his arms, he hopes this can be another chance.

When Tate learns how invisible Adam feels being Jewish during "the holiday season," he sets out to win his boy over by making him his for Hanukkah. He plans to spoil him with eight nights of affection, laughter, and submission, showing Adam that he can be the Daddy that he deserves. But will it be enough for Tate to keep him after the holiday's over?

The Traditions series follows the Jewish calendar in making old traditions new and bringing romance to life. The series features many transgender, genderqueer, and gender-bending characters, as well as BDSM elements. As the series is united by a theme rather than characters, the books may be read in any order.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

His For Hanukkah is a wonderful holiday romance. This Reese Morrison book is the first in the Traditions series.

From the start, I enjoyed the writer's voice, making it easy to get sucked into this story.

Adam and Tate's story has a lot of layers. Adam desperately wants a Daddy in his life. Tate's attracted to the young femme man, but still struggles with being accepted, as he's trans. They're two men with an equal attraction, and some miscommunication in their pasts.

Adam's a brat who's never found his Daddy, till now. I love his brat side when it comes out. And he's about to get the best gift ever - a daddy for Hanukkah.

This is a tale with plenty of heat, lots of emotions, and some tender romance. The sex is hot, with some spanking, a St Andrews cross, and more. But it's the relationship that I love. It develops over the holiday, with the feelings becoming all too real, and it's perfectly beautiful.

One of the overwhelming feelings throughout is that of Tate and his trans status. I love that he finds the man he loves accepts him as is, and actually sees the benefits of Tate being trans.

The author also adds in a lot of information about the history and culture of the Jewish community. It's well done, adding in info here and there, resulting in me learning a lot. As for the Happy Holidays term, the author is spot on.

His for Hanukkah is sweet, with just a little bit of angst, and will leave you excited for the holidays. Reese Morrison definitely had me riveted by these men and their story.

Dear Daddy, Please Love Me (Naughty or Nice #1) by Gianni Holmes

Dear Santa,
I know I haven’t exactly been a good boy this year, and I deserve nothing but coal in my stocking.
But, unlike some people I know, I don’t wait until the Christmas holiday to bring pleasure to men. That has to count as something nice, right?

I’m tired of being with men who always leave so I’m asking for something a bit different. Something I’m afraid of wanting. Please Santa, help me find a Daddy who will love me.

Cheeky_Bottom

Down on his luck rancher, Lawson is in no position to be in a relationship when he’s one late mortgage payment away from losing his spread. He definitely should not want the high maintenance stripper Cheeky_Bottom who’s looking for love from a Daddy. Been there. Done that. And he has the debt to show for it.

“Possessions over people” has always been Opie’s mission statement in life. His possessions remain as long as he takes care of them, but people always leave. When he meets a mysterious rancher online, Opie has a feeling things were about to change. Has Opie finally found the Daddy he won’t let walk away this time?

Dear Daddy, Please Love Me is part of the Naughty or Nice multi-author series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but there are so many boys hoping that holiday magic will bring them their perfect Daddy, why not grab them all?

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Dear Daddy, Please Love Me is a sweet and tender Daddy romance by Gianni Holmes. Part of the Naughty and Nice multi-author series, it perfectly gets the reader in the mood for more Daddy romances.

This story is emotional, full of hope throughout. Opie's a stripper who's always gone after  rich men, but nothing's ever lasted. When he meets Lawson online, things change. The two connect beautifully, but Opie also assumes Lawson's rich, which is an issue that lingers over their heads.

I love these complex men and their complicated road to happiness. There is so much going on throughout. I love the layers. Lawson's secrets and shame had me wanting to cry for him. As for Opie's jealousy, I adore it!

They make for a great couple. I enjoy the way they naturally connect, and the chemistry between them.

This is a tale with plenty of sexiness and an abundance of emotions. There's some great humor, including some funny moments between Opie and his roommate. In addition, there are plenty of lovable secondary characters, as well as some not so nice characters. And some lace!

Dear Daddy, Please Love Me is a sweet and tender Daddy romance. Gianni Holmes had me delighted throughout with these loving men. And the ending is beautiful!

Gwen Cook has returned to Williamsburg, Virginia, after more than a decade away from her family estate. Frankie Porter has spent the last year renovating that same estate, turning the dilapidated Cook mansion into a showpiece. Gwen and Frankie shared a childhood full of hard secrets and ripe with first love. Now adults, their paths cross again and sparks fly.

A HEA with content warnings for PTSD and implied child abuse.

The boathouse had barely changed in twelve years. The creek ran quite a bit deeper and wider. Brown water had swallowed up much of the far bank and licked in pools about the base of the boathouse itself. Frankie had to shove back kudzu and sumac as she walked. The soles of her boots sank inches into mud. Tiny pink-and-white wildflowers grew up between the trees, and here and there she spotted a drooping hedge bright with red berries.

She made her way cautiously through the undergrowth until she could touch the old building. Standing against the foundation, she cocked her head and squinted up along brick walls. The boathouse seemed as sturdy as she remembered. Two stories high and crumbling on the outside, it was ruler straight and strong except for the roof, which still sagged but hadn’t given in to the elements and fallen.

“Used to be, they knew how to build to last.” Frankie patted the warm brick.

The structure didn’t tower the way it had in her childhood, but she supposed it wouldn’t. She had grown—her bones had lengthened into adulthood. She’d managed to top five feet, barely. At sixteen, she’d feared she would be stuck forever just above four.

Frankie hesitated, glancing up into the sky. The trees had grown tall, and she could see less of the sun than she remembered. The place was definitely cooler, definitely shadier; but on a warm summer afternoon, shade wasn’t such a bad thing.

She leaned against the boathouse and untied her boots. Stripping off her shoes and socks, she stood barefoot in the mud, regarding the brick walls. Twelve years gone and she was no longer a child. Could she do it?

Of course she could. Was it wise?

Probably not.

But her fingers and toes found the old cracks easily, and before she knew it, she was halfway up the wall. The brick brushed her khaki shorts, leaving brown stains. A branch streaked her white shirt with sap. Frankie didn’t notice. At the top she hoisted herself over the edge of the roof and onto the shingles. She sat very still, holding her breath, waiting to see if the roof would protest. The shingles held, even when she rose to her feet and tiptoed across the top of the boathouse to her old perch.

She looked up and around first, admiring the oak and the dogwood and the ash with their green-as-grass leaves. She sucked in the fragrance of the creek as she brushed her bangs from her eyes. Then she took a deeper breath and looked down.

James Creek glittered below, cut into geometric shapes by dim sunlight. Shadows gathered at the edges of the water and then spread away along the bank. From where she stood, the water looked deep and inviting.

VIP Access (The Road To Rocktoberfest #7) by Morticia Knight

Amazon Link - Available in KU
Goodreads Link

A singing sensation who steals hearts. The wannabe guitarist who worships him. Can true love survive once the tour is over?

Glitter Kink is one of the headlining bands at Rocktoberfest, and Braylin Sinclair can’t believe he’s scored a gig as their guitar tech. He’d rather be their guitarist, but he’ll take what he can get. Plus, how can he resist the opportunity to get up close and personal with Zen Diamond, the flashy singer he’s idolized since he was a kid?

Zen’s reputation as one of the kinkiest rockers on the scene can sometimes overshadow his musical prowess. As the founding member of Glitter Kink, he runs the show. His songs, his rules. The band’s world-wide tour is about to kick-off, however, lately there’s been more ills than thrills.

One night as they’re about to take the stage, everything falls apart. Unless a miracle occurs, the tour will be over and the band’s future in jeopardy. But then a sweet young thing steps up and claims he can save the gig.

Will Zen take a chance on a shy and inexperienced kid? Or will he only allow Braylin to be a star in his bedroom?

Note: VIP Access is the 7th book in the multi-author Road to Rocktoberfest Series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but why not stay and enjoy the whole show? If you like scorching tales of hot rock stars and the men who love them, then you’ll adore the untamed musicians of Rocktoberfest!

My Rating - 4 Stars!

VIP Access is Morticia Knight's contribution to the multi-author series The Road To Rocktoberfest. With this being my first time reading this author, I wasn't sure what to expect.

Braylin's new on the tour, ending up as part of the band. And with his attraction to Zen, and Zen's desire to take the younger man under his wing, they end up in a BDSM relationship.

There's plenty of heat, including some spanking.

There's a disgruntled bandmate who can't get his act together. With dealing with the band dynamics, being the new kid in the band, and being in a relationship with a band member, it's definitely a little messy.

Zen is a total sweetheart who will have you falling in love with him. He's kind, he's patient, and he's caring. He's the perfect one to be a Dom for Braylin.

This isn't super developed, as it's a quick read. I definitely would have preferred more depth, but it's still a good read.

VIP Access is a good ending to the multiauthor The Road To Rocktoberfest series. The whole series is wonderful. If you haven't yet started the series, be sure to start with Strung Tight to get in on all the fun.

Mr. Big Shot (Suits & Sevens #1) by Isla Olsen

Will

Turning up on the first day of a job you desperately need to discover you’ve already slept with your billionaire boss? Yeah, that’s a bit of a conundrum.

Learning he’s a closeted bisexual currently embroiled in a—by all accounts bogus—sexual harassment scandal? That’s more of a fiasco.

But having to sit outside the office of one of the sexiest men alive, day in, day out, knowing there’s no chance of a repeat? That’s what I’d call a disaster.

My sexy-as-hell boss, Spencer Cox, has one rule: no messing around with the employees. And seeing as how I can’t afford to give up this job, that kind of puts me between a rock and a hard place. A very hard place if you get my meaning…

The way things are going, I’ll be lucky to survive in this job a month.

The Suits & Sevens series spins off from the Love & Luck series, however it is not necessary to have read the Love & Luck books before reading Mr. Big Shot.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Mr Big Shot is a fantastic boss/employee romance by Isla Olsen. The first book in the Suits & Sevens series, it's a great start to this new created world.

Will and Spencer's story starts with a hallway hookup at a bar. It isn't until later that they discover Will is Spencer's new assistant.

What follows are some awkward times and fighting their feelings. But in
a fun move, the two arrange an in office, out of office relationship situation. It's enjoyable to read, and adds the element of impending problems.

The opposites factor is a huge aspect of this story. I love their differences. Will is soft and quiet, yet aggressive with sex. Spencer, meanwhile, is the tough, successful businessman who enjoys letting go and being dominated during sex. I love the way Will helps Spencer to let loose and not be so perfect all the time.

Spencer being closeted is a large aspect in this tale. He's bisexual but hasn't ever come out as such, never meeting someone worth doing so for. His being closeted leads to some drama for him, Will, and the families, but I enjoy the way it all plays out.

My favorite thing about this story is how freaking sweet Spencer is. I absolutely never expected that. But he is. And, oh my, the way he is with Will's mom is beautiful. I just adore him to pieces.

I love everything about this story. The writing is great. There are intense, steamy scenes. And the secondary characters are fantastic. Most of all though, Will and Spencer are just a wonderful couple.

Mr Big Shot is a perfect read when you're in the mood to escape real life for a bit. This Isla Olsen read is a perfect combo of passion, romance, and love. It's a sweet and charming story.
