Only for Us (Only Colorado #6) by J.D. Chambers

Blurb

"Just once, I'd like to be part of my own couple, and not the third wheel."

Jay Howard might look like Tinker Bell, but he's looking for a man who will accept all facets of him - from flirty brat to dom top. With all his friends happily coupling up, Jay fears he'll never find a man to love, much less one who loves all of him.

"Once again, fate has decided to have a laugh at my expense, because standing right in front of us is the only man I've never been able to get out of my head."

Silas Boone III has been punishing himself for years for his younger self's screw-ups. Just as he finds someone with the power to make him trust himself again, he's confronted by a face from the past - one that reminds him of his mistakes and all the possibilities he once dreamed could be his.

"I'd found the love of my life. Most people don't even get that much, so it felt selfish to look for more."

After his boyfriend of nine years dies suddenly of a heart attack, Cameron MacGowan moves to Fort Collins for a fresh start. What starts as simple flirtation and easing back into dating turns into a tangle of longing and wanting for two totally different men.

Can Jay, Boone, and Cameron navigate through the treacherous waters of the past to reach a future together?

My Rating - 5 Stars!

JD Chambers' Only For Us is another stellar book in the Only Us series. It's tender, sweet, and smoking hot! Only For Us has some friends to lovers, and a second chance. Did I mention Holy hotness!

In this one, we are treated to three men, yes, three men, falling in love with each other. It's a fun development, as all three are connected, but don't know it immediately.

I'm tempted to say "A car salesman, a lawyer, and a barista enter a bedroom..."

I love that Boone likes to be dominated and punished, despite being a big, tough, former athlete. Cameron is what people would assume is a dom top, but low and behold, he's not. And the smaller Jay is the one who likes to dominate. Woo Hoo! The three men perfectly balance each other, leading for some emotional and hot moments.

Each man is so damn considerate of the others, making for some wonderfully tender moments. Each enters the relationship with baggage. Cameron lost his ex last year, is sad and sullen. Boone's stuck living the life his parents want for him, and is unhappy and closeted.

Did I mention it's steamy, spicy and hot?

JD Chambers does a wonderful job exploring the struggles of moving on, taking chances, and living your truth. If you enjoy a good menage story, do not miss Only For Us! It's a fantastic and riveting tale of taking two lovers instead of making anyone choose.

Depth of Focus (Natural Hearts #1) by J.D. Chambers

Blurb

Growing up, Travis hated his small town, Slat Creek, and everyone in it. His only goal was to escape for good, and at the age of twenty-one, he thought he had finally achieved it. But when his sister struggles with the death of their mother, he has to return home to care for her.

Whitman grew up believing in the healing power of books, but it wasn't until he moved to a small town in Oregon as their new librarian that he sees that belief in action. He's living his dream professionally. But personally, he's lonely and wondering if he made a big mistake, until he meets a sad teenager and takes her under his wing.

Might an observant and helpful librarian be enough to tempt Travis to stay?

My Rating - Stars!

Depth of Focus is a great story by JD Chambers, as it's emotional, heartfelt and beautiful.

Travis has been sacrificing his own life to raise and protect his sister, Caitlyn. The death of their mom changed their life instantly. Next thing Travis knows, at the age of 21, he's parenting his sister, working two jobs and keeping a close eye on his suicidal sister. The poor guy doesn't get a break. Ever.

When Whitman comes to town as the new librarian, his plans are to revive the library. In the long run, he not only changes the library, but also Scott's life, as well as Caitlyn's. Through working with Whitman, Caitlyn finds a purpose with her life. This part of the story is wonderfully touching.

Travis is a Native American who's always longed to leave his small town. Not only is he tired of everyone being in his business, he also thinks there is nothing for him there. With the help of Whitman, he starts to discover the small ways in which he actually is a part of this town.

Whitman and Travis are super sweet together. They are two broken men who really help one another, as they strive to survive. Their love is a riveting slow-burn.

Overall, Depth of Focus gifts us with a beautiful glimpse into the importance of family, as well as what family means. It's an emotional rollercoaster that has touched me to my soul. I'm excited to see what JD Chambers comes up with next in this series.

GRL 2018 SPOTLIGHT - JD Chambers - Only Need You (Only Colorado #3)

In my attempt to cover some of the attending authors for this year's GRL,
I am reviewing

Only Need You
by JD Chambers!

BLURB

"I am still trying to prove that I am not a hot mess. The last thing I want is to attach myself to someone in even greater need of a personalized TED talk than me."

Kieran Jones is perpetually ten steps behind in life. Whether it's his best friend's advice on how-to-gay properly since he was a little late to the coming out party, another friend giving him a discount on rent so he could escape his horrible roommate situation, or his best friend's boss rescuing him when his car won't start, Kieran's life isn't just a hot mess. It's a blazing disaster.

"I don't think I've been giving off greater sad sack vibes than normal, but the more time I spend around Kieran, the more I want things that I can't have."

Ted Olson may not be the life of the party, but he is steadfast and dependable, and that will have to do. He's always looking out for others - his employees, his nephew, and the adorable redhead who hangs out at the store and is way too young for him. It has been almost a decade since his last serious relationship, and Ted is tired of being alone.

When Kieran and Ted end up on a blind date together courtesy of a dating app, they realize a mutual attraction has been lurking behind their growing friendship. But Ted can't believe someone as young and pretty as Kieran would want a boring, old, video game store owner. And Kieran has never been with a man before and doesn't trust his own instincts. Both men will have to break free from their insecurities if they want to be what the other needs.

My Rating -  5 Stars!

Only Need You is the 3rd book in the Only Colorado Series by JD Chambers. It can easily be read as a standalone. But I will warn you, I found myself wanting to read the rest of the series.

First of all, I loved the characters in the book, both the main characters, Ted and Kieran, as well as their friends and family. I found them all to be a group I'd want to hang out with, thus reading about them was fun.

In this book, the story centers around Ted and Kieran. And for a great Bonus - Ted is turning 40 and Kieran is much younger. I always love a good May to Sept book!

Ted is an older man who runs a Video game Store. Kieran spend a lot of time there since his friend works there. Ted tries to fight his attraction to the younger man, thinking he has nothing to offer Kieran.

Meanwhile, Kieran is struggling in many areas. His car has problems. He needs a new apartment. He works for a Horrific boss who tries to exchange sex for work security. Oh, and he's also newly out of the closet.

When they meet up via a dating app, they realize that they are both attracted to each other. But Ted wants to make Kieran wait a while before things get physical.

Add in some entertaining friends, some work issues for Kieran, a deaf nephew of Ted's and you get a wonderful, fun, love story.

JD Chambers

JD Chambers wanted at various times to be Indiana Jones, Pat Benatar, and Wonder Woman when she grew up. She never considered writing down the stories she crafted in her head. They provided nothing more than entertainment for long drives or sleepless nights, until one particular story insisted it didn't want to reside only in her noggin. She hasn't stopped writing since.

JD finds unlikely heroes, humans courageous enough to be themselves, and spreadsheets incredibly sexy -- the last one much to her husband's chagrin. Together, they raise three teenagers and the world's most mellow Chihuahua on the Oregon Coast.

Only Keep You (Only Colorado #4) by JD Chambers

Blurb

"At this point, I'm starting to think that if I don't feel something for someone soon, that the notion of sparks will go the way of the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus."

David Taylor just wants to belong. After a childhood of being the perfect son in an attempt to receive the acceptance he so craved, he has finally started living the life he wants. Maybe that means dating men as well as women. Maybe it even means exploring something a little outside the norm, but that fills him with a comfort and completeness he never thought possible.

"I like casual, no-strings sex as much as any man. But in those rare moments when I actually allow myself to wish, I will acknowledge that it might be nice to have a man to come home to."

Arthur Yuen loves men and has a merit badge in flirting to prove it. He also has a big mouth, as evidenced by him calling an adorable stranger "puppy" while at work one day. Who knew his slip would set off a chain of events that brings the two men together in a way neither would have imagined possible?

As Dave and Arthur explore a relationship that includes puppy play, they learn as much about themselves as they do each other. The two men discover a companionship that seems to be a perfect fit until tragedy strikes, and it will take every scrap of determination and understanding to keep their relationship going.

My Rating - 5 stars!

Only Keep You is the 4th book in JD Chamber's Only Colorado Series. I love this series, but I have to admit this one is way more than I was expecting.

David and Arthur are the center of this story. Arthur can't resist calling David Pup during a stressful exchange. This little slip of the tongue leads to more than either man could have expected.

Arthur learns about being a puppy master, and these two men begin to explore a relationship that includes puppy play. Their relationship becomes very strong and meaningful for both men.

This is the first time I have read such a detailed puppy play relationship. And I love it. I am happy for David that being a puppy allows him to tune out the thoughts going around in his mind constantly.

Of course, things will not be easy for David and Arthur. They will have to fight to be together.

I love David. He is a beautiful character, who grew up with a very controlled childhood. I admire his strength to get away from his family and start exploring what he really wants in life. Through his relationship with Arthur, he finds his true self, a man way stronger than he ever thought he could be.

Honestly, I really love Only Keep You. I appreciate that there is so much going on in the story. JD Chambers does a fantastic job of interweaving a lot of events into this romance. It is a memorable book for sure! I highly recommend it.
