“There’s something about the way he’s looking at me now, determined. Like he might ruin me if given half the chance.”
Adam:
Success can mean a lot of things. To me it meant living a lie and getting away with it.
But pretending is exhausting. My sister’s wedding in Italy was exactly what I needed. A week on the Amalfi coast with sunshine, wine, and zero complications.
Too bad the universe saw an opportunity to ruin that plan. Because what could be more complicated than the arrival of an attractive man who sees right through my act? One that is determined to remind me that you can’t hide who you really are.
What if he tells people my secret? Or, worse still, what if I can’t control these feelings. Because right now I’m feeling all sorts of things – fear, anger, lust…
No, I need to keep this thing under control. I can’t give in.
But what if, just once, I didn’t fight it?
Jacob:
After a series of bad decisions, running away to Italy seemed like the perfect escape. A fresh start in a new country. Nothing, and no one would bring me back to Ireland.
When I meet Adam at my friend’s wedding, I’m captivated. There’s something about this rugged stranger that makes me forget that I keep messing up every part of my life.
I know it’s a bad idea and I know I’m playing with fire. But when anger turns to passion I know I can’t stay away.
He can pretend all he wants but that man belongs in my bed. He might only be here for one week, but I intend to make the most of it.
After all, I can’t ask him for more when I’m not sure I’ll stick around.
But what if, this time, I didn’t run?

REVIEW
My Rating - 5 Stars!
His Heart or Mine is a wonderful romance by CS Joyce.
This story revolves around two broken men, Adam and Jacob. Jacob is a runner, always running from anything that makes him uncomfortable. He runs, and then he regrets it, but keeps that part a secret.
When Jacob attends his friend Michael's wedding, he meets the bride's brother, Adam. Adam takes an instant dislike to Jacob, but he finds it hard to be rude to the flirting Jacob, and soon he can't stop thinking about the man.
As the attraction becomes strong between the two, they face a few issues. Adam is out and proud, while Jacob has his closet door bolted shut. Adam has no interest in hooking up with a man who is closeted.
Jacob's refusal to be out is discussed in great detail, as he has shut down that side of himself, never experimenting with gay sex, and having convinced himself that his attraction of men is a choice.
A huge contrast between the men is their appearance. Adam can easily be identified as gay, but Jacob has always tried to best to looking strong, tough and macho, in hopes of looking straight.
Jacob's decision to stay closeted or to come out is the crux of the story. He's wrestling with this decision, yet is attracted to Adam. It is a long process for him to come to terms with his sexuality. That said, I find it to be well written and well developed, as it's emotional, intriguing, and heartfelt. It is written with understanding, compassion and heart.
One part that resonated with me a lot is that it's ridiculous to expect someone to know what they want out of life when they are young. "I mean people change, interests change." I am sure all of us can relate to this in some way or another.
His Heart or Mine is captivating and worth a read. I can't wait to see what else CS Joyce comes up with for this series!
