RELEASE BLITZ, GIVEAWAY & EXCERPT - Audiobook Club by Jessica Frances

Audiobook Club
Jessica Frances
Publication date: February 25th 2022
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, LGBTQ+, Romance

Being a police officer in a small town doesn’t often offer up many surprises. Working the night shift means I rarely see or do much of anything that doesn’t involve a speeding vehicle, or a drunken rant. And, while quiet nights are better than deadly ones, it still takes some getting used to after living in a big city for years.

So, I’m rather shocked when I pull over a driver and find the dirtiest audiobook playing from the car speakers. And, paint me intrigued when the hot driver struggles to get the enticing words to stop broadcasting to the entire street.

The embarrassing encounter has us both lowering our guard, and I find myself a new friend, one who suggests we start our own audiobook club.
Soon, we become more than just friends as we listen and fall into stories and new worlds together and, naturally, the sexy scenes we’re listening to become a blueprint for our own experiences to try … together.
But, when life intrudes and our audiobook club breaks up, I’m left wondering if everything was just fiction, or if maybe there is something real under it all.
Can we get our happily ever after, or will it all fizzle out before it has a chance to become something permanent?

Thirty minutes later, we have a functioning bedframe. Two minutes after that, with just a few grunts and one moan stating permanent back pain, the mattress sits on top of it.

“Should we test it out?” I ask, my hands on my hips, breathing just a little hard from the exertion to get the mattress on it.

“You mean, have sex on it?” Ethan asks around a surprised cough.

I laugh, since I’m definitely not that bold as to suggest something like that. “I more mean just jump around on it; see if it holds. But, I mean, if you’re offering …” I trail off and waggle my eyebrows, only a tinge sad when he laughs instead of taking me up on the offer.

“I haven’t jumped on a bed since I was a kid.”

“Me, neither. I wonder why we stop doing this kind of thing? Why does being an adult mean you can’t still have silly fun?” I ask, crawling up onto the bed, feeling all sorts of out of balance as I force my shaky knees to stiffen and hold me.

I have never been great with heights and, apparently, even being just a bed high off the ground is too much. Still, I need to save face now. So, I do a small jump and watch Ethan roll his eyes at me.

“If that was supposed to test the bed out, then you must have the most boring and lifeless sex in here.”

“Who says I don’t like boring and lifeless sex?” I say somewhat defensively, and then I regret it immediately. “Fine, release your inner child and jump all over my bed to prove your handyman skills and impress me,” I tease, moving off the bed, grateful to be back on steady ground.

Ethan removes his shoes, and then, much more confidently, he gets up on the bed, standing to his feet with an ease I never had. While I shook and probably went three shades paler, Ethan grins widely and is as steady as a seasoned yoga instructor.

“Ready to have your bed and world rocked?” he asks me with a cheeky smile.

“Fuck yes,” I breathe out, meaning it in more ways than just jumping on my bed. I think he knows that, given the heat in his gaze. Then he proceeds to do a small jump, perhaps testing out the strength of the bedframe.

So far so good.

Another couple of jumps, and he begins to laugh. The carefree way he does this has me grinning back up at him. He looks so joyful, so happy, and so … close to the ceiling.

“Ethan, maybe you—”

His next jump has more oomph to it, and the top of his head slams straight into the ceiling.

Drywall and paint rain over him, while his legs collapse out from under him, and he lands down hard on the mattress. This is apparently too much for the newly erected bedframe, since it cracks, perhaps the wooden slats that are there breaking, and the middle caves in.

Shock silences me, and my heart is in my throat. I fear Ethan could have been knocked unconscious. He’s not moving.

Did I just kill my neighbor? How the hell am I supposed to explain this to anyone?

Then Ethan coughs while moving his hand to cover his mouth, and then that cough turns into a laugh, and that laughs has him folding in half as tears start to run down his face.

“Ethan?” I hesitantly reach out to touch his shoulder. “Are you okay?”

I’m not sure I’m ready to find the situation funny, given he could have a head injury.

“I think … I …” He can’t stop laughing, and I have to wait a good two minutes for him to get himself under control. “I think I just figured out why adults don’t do this shit anymore.”

I look up at the head-sized hole in my ceiling and chuckle. “You could be right.”

Author: Jessica Frances
Genre: F/F Romance
Release Date: March 5, 2021

One friendship. One heartbreak. One messy past. One open-ended future. One chance to fix regrets. Multiple hurdles to jump.

Rian:
I knew returning home was never going to be easy. I hurt people when I abruptly left seventeen years ago. I hurt my brothers. I hurt the woman I loved. I lost touch with everyone and have missed so much. But running away can’t last forever. It’s time to face my demons and fight for the one person I can no longer live without.

Love:
Everyone knows me as the lovable, bubbly, happy girl. It isn’t untrue. Years ago, I had my heart broken and have hidden just how much that moment destroyed me. Every day that we have been apart has felt like a piece has been missing from me. But when Rian returns, I can’t bring myself to trust her. I can’t pick up the pieces of me that she carelessly broke and pretend everything is okay again.

However, when a story drifts into dangerous territory and someone important gets caught in the crossfire, sometimes you have to let the past stay where it belongs and forge a new future. There will be missteps, and maybe some tears, but fate cannot be stopped.

So, what does fate have in store for us now, and what are the chances we will survive it?

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Loving Love is the seventh book in the In Midsummer series. This Jessica Frances story is definitely best read as part of the series. Hell, just to get to know why fans of this series love Love so much.

So yes, we are finally getting Love's story. Woo Hoo!

Rian's back in town after being away for seventeen years. I enjoy their easy going reunion, as it could have been very ugly instead.

Rian's reasons for having left are heartbreaking. I felt so bad for her.

Their story involves some understanding and forgiveness.

And, by now you know about the drug problem at the school, Well, Love is out to solve the crime and of course it will cause some trouble.

Loving Love is a great, fun lesbian romance. Once again, Jessica Frances combines a nice romance with some action and danger. And oh, the ending is fabulous!

“Sounds like you want to hang around here.”

“I do. I know I’m incredibly late on coming back here, but I do want to make Midsummer my home again. I’ve missed this place. I’ve missed you.”

I watch the impact my words have over Love, and they aren’t necessarily good. She looks gutted by my admission.

“I have to get back.” She holds up her hands that just have tape and no fliers left. “Thanks for keeping me company.”

“Of course. It’s been good to see you. I don’t suppose you’d be interested in hanging out again? I know I hurt you by leaving, but I’d appreciate the chance to tell you my story and, if you are open to it, becoming friends again.”

I want much more than friendship with Love, but I know I have to tread lightly. I have to gain Love’s trust again before I promise her more. If we don’t get this new foundation right, then we’re doomed before we get a chance to start.

Love doesn’t immediately respond, which has my heart jacking up in tempo, but soon, a smile graces her soft lips.

“I’d like that. I’m sure we can make some time next week. I’d love to hear about how the teaching goes. I might have a favor to ask of you.”

“Anything!” I quickly agree, knowing I would still do anything for Love. “And let’s lock next week in. Do you still have my number?”

Over the years, we emailed to keep in touch, though those emails turned few and far between in recent years.

“Will you actually leave your phone on? From memory, you were notorious for letting it die for weeks on end.”

“I traveled far and wide, often in places where electricity wasn’t common. I got used to living without it,” I admit, knowing I wasn’t the best at it when I was a teenager, either. I had to hide even having it from my parents, which meant I couldn’t always leave it out charging.

“Luckily, The Last Resort boasts electricity!”

“Yes, I was very impressed to see many outlets in my room. Very fancy.” I lightly elbow her and smile when she laughs.

“Yeah, I have your number. I’ll text you when I’m free.”

“I look forward to it.” I don’t exactly keep the wistful note out of my tone, and Love sure doesn’t miss it, given her widening eyes and the way they dart to my lips. She looks away quickly, but I catch it.

“It’s good to have you back.” She gives me another hug, though it’s less surprising, and I’m able to focus more on how it feels to have her in my arms and to have her body against mine.

I probably hold on too tightly and certainly for too long, but I can’t help it. I missed Love more than I ever realized, and being back, close to her, is like finally feeling fiery warmth after being out in a wintery storm for years.

She pulls away, and then I watch her walk back in the direction of the hotel. I get the feeling she wants some space, so I let her have it. I have a date to look forward to next week, and I need to make sure it goes off perfectly.

For now, I’m going to go off in search of Reed and tease him relentlessly about the fact that he’s going to be a father to twins.

Title: Protecting Prince
Series: In Midsummer Series
Author: Jessica Frances
Genre: M/M Romance
Release Date: February 5, 2021

One movie star. One bodyguard. One seductive attraction. One deadly obsession. One chance to have it all. One shot to lose it all.

Henry:
Falling for your bodyguard is so cliché. I cringe at myself sometimes, but then I just have to look at him to understand. How can you not fall for a man like that? Heroic, smart, stubborn, funny, sexy … how could I ever have resisted?

Bryan:
Falling for your movie star client is incredibly cliché. I have heard of people in my position doing just that and used to scoff at them … but then I got placed as Henry Prince’s bodyguard. Unfortunately, his irresistible charm and undeniably sexy self has claimed me, heart and soul. I have no chance of getting out of this unscathed.

Then just as things begin to get red hot, a stalker from the past escapes with the intent to destroy us both. I won’t let anything bad happen to Henry, but what am I supposed to do when potential danger lurks behind every corner, behind every stranger?

Will our cliché beginning blossom into something more? Or are we destined for the typical Hollywood crash and burn?

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Protecting Prince is a fabulous bodyguard romance. The sixth book in the In Midsummer series, it probably can be read as a standalone, but it's definitely worth reading the series in order, starting with Stranded.

This is a romance between Henry Prince, a movie star, and Bryan, his straight bodyguard. And it's awesome!

Their story starts with the event that went wrong, as Bryan was shot saving Henry. Fast forward a year, Bryan is healed, and the two men still aren't together. There's plenty of flirting between them, but they just can't seem to take a chance.

Now Henry's stalker is on the loose. Cue the danger and action that we've come to love from this series.

Their story is a GFY one, with first times and plenty of heat. Every moment with these two is just fabulous. They're simply perfect together. From the attraction, to the forbidden romance, to the danger, to the sex. Everything is awesome.

This series is a lot of fun, and I love the author's writing style. It's quick witted, sharp, and full of entertaining characters. She has quickly become a one click author for me.

Protecting Prince is a short, quick read. Jessica Frances excels in combining sweetness and heat with a little action and danger. It's just a fun read.

“So, you expect me to run away scared? You expect me to live my life dictated by the crazy people who are obsessed and want to hurt me?

“You get that this guy is just the latest in a line that has gone on for a while and won’t ever stop. If I give in now, then I might as well forfeit whatever life I want outside the four walls I call home.”

Bryan’s eyes soften, and his hand twitches at his side. Is he going to touch me? Maybe offer me comfort? Maybe he will run his fingers through my hair and promise to make this go away. That would be totally hot, right?

Instead, he glances back out at the crowd, his keen eyes taking in everyone but me. “Your next group of fans is here.”

I inwardly groan but force myself to my feet with my plastered, fake smile fixed on properly.

Half an hour later, with Bryan speaking hurriedly into his phone, making me think our jig is up and Sheriff Green has found out about what we have set up, my world crumbles as I manage to glimpse Samuel Allen as he steps around a rowdy group of adults and holds a gun up, aiming it at me.

My breath catches in my throat, I manage a silent scream and, for a moment, my life flashes before my eyes. But I don’t see the life I have lived. No, I see a life I have missed out on. The chance to experience the many years I should still have left. The future projects that give me passion to keep going. Every fantasy and hope flashes through me in the blink of an eye, and I’m angry to have this taken from me. I’m furious that one sick bastard has stolen my future. The possibility of something more with Bryan ripped from me.

Then, all I feel is the world tilting as I’m roughly shoved aside. My head cracks on the icy-cold ground, and my shoulder takes most of the brunt of my bodyweight, but all pain flies out of my mind when I hear the crack of gunfire.

I sit up, my heart punching painfully in my chest, while people around us scream, run, and sob.

It’s complete chaos, but my eyes only see Bryan, on the ground, next to me, blood soaking his white shirt. All I hear is the rattling, sharp breaths he takes. All I feel is complete dread as I watch the man who I’m completely in love with bleeding out in front of me, and there isn’t a damn thing I can do about it.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Safe, the fifth book in the In Midsummer series, is a delightful addition to this sweet series.

This time around we have a wedding, crazy antics, and more danger.
Friendships are tested and relationships are mended, as the fun continues.

And best of all though, is the continued instance by Love that the town is actually a dull place. Couldn't stop laughing at that part.

The writing continues to impress, with a fast paced storyline and plenty of emotion. The twists and turns are ever present, keeping us on our toes. This is the quintessential cozy mystery gay romance series, with charming characters, great storylines, and plenty of heat.

Overall, Safe is  a fantastic, delightful read. I love this couple and their continued story. These Jessica Frances books are just wonderful. And now it looks like there's about to be some new couples covered in this series. Can't wait.

_____________________________________________________________

“Rocky.” Conner moves onto his knees and faces me, cupping my face. I instantly rest my hands on his hips to prevent him from losing his balance and painfully knocking our heads together. “I love you so much that anyone can come through that door and say they want me, and I won’t even think about the offer for a second. You’re the one I want now, the one I’ll always want. None of my exes even begin to come close to how amazing you are. Henry Prince is someone universally considered to be the full package and even he didn’t compare to you. You’re perfect to me, and I will never want anyone else. You believe that, right?” His tone is pleading, as is his gaze.

I do see what he’s saying. I know how truthful it is. And while I’ve always known Conner would never cheat on me and that he loves me, there is something that clicks into place for me. A final piece that solidifies that we’re so solid that nothing that comes at us during this wedding or after it is going to rock us.

I lean forward and rest our foreheads together, our noses brushing. Then I wrap my arms around him so he’s forced to rest his body over mine. “I believe you, Conner, and I love you so damn much. You’re all I want, too. I cannot wait to call you my husband. Let’s do this tomorrow.”

Conner snorts out a laugh, but when I don’t break into so much as a grin, his smile fades and he pulls back just as much as my arms around him will allow.

“You’re serious? Tomorrow?”

“Yes. I don’t want to wait any longer. And I don’t want the charade that June Fuller is planning to be our day. I want it to be on our own terms. I want you to myself. I don’t want to share you on our wedding day.”

“But … tomorrow is Wednesday!”

“You call Love and, under oath of secrecy, she can come. I’ll call Reed and Bell, and they can come, too. We’ll pull River out of school. Then Bell can take River back to hers, Love can take Ryder back to her parents’ for the night, and we have one night to ourselves.”

“What about work?”

“I’ll get Abby to cover for me. Or, hell, I’ll just call in sick. I’ve got hundreds of those days I’ve never used.”

Conner gasps, but I get the feeling it’s slightly mocking. “You didn’t even call in sick when you were shot!”

“Just marry me tomorrow,” I plead, knowing I can’t bear to wait any longer now that I put it out there.

REVIEW TOUR, EXCERPT & REVIEW - Secrets (In Midsummer #4) by Jessica Frances

Title: Secrets
Series: In Midsummer #4
Author: Jessica Frances
Genre: M/M Romantic Mystery
Release Date: November 6, 2020

One storm. One Santa Claus. One stalker. One secret. One surprise. One question. One answer.

Christmas is meant to be a jolly time of year, right? So, why is everyone acting like the plague is around the corner? Every year, I’m always the grumpy guy. Yet, this year, I might as well be sunshine personified.
Conner is definitely hiding something from me, River is unusually moody, and the townspeople have clearly lost their minds. Unfortunately, I can’t arrest everyone in my life and demand they explain themselves … can I?
Since my relationship with Conner is becoming more vital to me than ever, I need to find out what has everyone acting so strange. This Christmas will be the first for Conner and me together. I need to make it special. That means I have to ensure nothing can come between us. Not a Hollywood hunk, not a creepy stalker, and definitely not a snowstorm.
So, will we make it through our first Christmas together? Or will this end up being the worst day of the year?

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Jessica Frances' Secrets is a great addition to the In Midsummer series, which all started with Stranded. The fourth book in this series, it's definitely not a standalone.

Rocky and Connor are back as the main couple in this small town mystery series. They are getting ready for their first Christmas together. The town continues to have strange things going on, and Rocky is on edge.

There's someone stalking the movie star Henry. A snow storm is coming. And everyone is keeping something from Rocky. If you've been following the series, you will adore this book. More Rocky and Connor. What's not to love? They just continue to grow closer and the romance continues to increase.

The writing is fabulous, as it is throughout the series. The characters are perfect together, with each book focusing on a new investigation, as well as a new aspect of their relationship. There's sweetness, plenty of heat, and some adorable kids.

The In Midsummer series is a must read for anyone who loves ongoing sagas that include romance and suspense. In Secrets, Jessica Frances continues to delight with plenty of humor and a good mystery. This series is just the perfect heart warming series that follows the same couple throughout.

_________________________________________________________________________

I can’t help the nagging feeling that something is going on with Conner. I don’t want to be that stereotypical partner with trust issues, but I also can’t ignore that he’s been secretive lately. Sometimes, when I ask him what his plans are for the day, he even sounds evasive.

Old fears have resurfaced from the out-of-character behavior, and I’m not proud to admit that I followed him a time or two. Each time, I found him having deep conversations with our town mayor, June Fuller, who had offered him an event planning job, which he accepted. So, as far as I know, they’re just discussing and planning for the next year’s events.

Knowing he wasn’t lying to me should have meant my fears were alleviated. He wasn’t cheating. He wasn’t looking for a way to get out of Midsummer and leave me. He was having business meetings.

Then, why the secrecy?

I eye my boyfriend, looking over his lean form, toned to delicious proportions due to his obsession with hiking; the scruff over his face after not shaving for a couple of days; the wavy, dark blonde hair that is sticking up, likely from excessively running his hands through it; and the way his tongue peeks out before he bites into his lower lip as he contemplates who knows what.

I’m completely in love with Conner, have been for months. But, am I missing something? Have I become too lax in our relationship?

“Conner, is everything okay?”

His gaze snaps to me and, when he speaks the words, “What do you mean?” he says them too quickly and defensively.

“You’re acting … I don’t know. Strange? Is something wrong?”

“No, no, of course not,” he assures me, and I think he’s telling the truth, but how can that be? I know something is wrong or, at least, bothering him, so why won’t he come to me about it?
