Not So Silent Night by H.L. Day

Amazon Link - Available in KU
Goodreads Link

One grumpy patient. One unconventional nurse. Twenty-two reindeer later.

Things aren’t great for Xander Cole. It’s Christmas, he’s fractured his pelvis on a skiing trip he never wanted to go on, and his on/off boyfriend is most definitely off. No wonder he’s not exactly full of festive cheer.

Ferris Night isn’t having much luck either. His plan to take a break from work before starting a new job has been wrecked by a flooded flat. With nowhere to stay, he grabs the opportunity for a job as a live-in nurse with both hands. After all, how hard can it be?

Xander doesn’t need a nurse. Especially one who’s far too flirty, far too attractive, far too into Christmas, and far too good at getting his own way. But Ferris has never faced a challenge that couldn’t be overcome with a bit of charm and perseverance. It doesn’t matter how attractive Xander might be. He’s immune. Maybe.

As banter and sparring between the two men turn into more, a nurse might not be needed, but both men could be in for a fresh start to the new year.

A low angst 63k romantic comedy, which features snarky banter, a slow burn relationship, two men who can give as good as they get, an annoying ex, and a Star Wars nativity scene.

*Please note that this story was originally released as a single POV short story as part of the Winter Wonderland Prolific Works giveaway. The story has been revised and is now dual POV with over 40k of added content*

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Not So Silent Night is a delightful holiday romance by HL Day.

Xander and Ferris' tale is full of Christmas fun, snark, and plenty of feel good moments.

I adore Xander from the start, with his grumpy attitude as he's stuck alone during the holidays with an injury. Enter Ferris, who is hired to help nurse him back to health.

Omg. These two are night and day. Ferris is full of life and is the perfect person to push back against all of Xander's complaints.

I love the way these two develop their banter into caring for one another. Ferris is fabulous and is successful at bringing Xander to life.

Their story is full of flirty fun and quick wit. I enjoyed it all.

Not So Silent Night is a warm and lovely holiday romance. HL Day adds plenty of Christmas sweetness into this opposites attract Christmas romance. I would definitely recommend this one when you're in the mood for a quick holiday read.

He never thought he’d find love again, but one summer changes his entire life.

Greg Mattar always had a clear path in life. The son of wealthy professionals, he and his sister wanted for nothing growing up in Montreal. His skills playing hockey led him to be picked first in the draft and a successful career as one of the premier defensemen in the league. He married his college sweetheart and within a year, they’d been blessed with twin girls. Then the unthinkable happened, and Greg’s life was turned inside out.

After losing his wife to cancer, he’s left alone to raise his daughters and at the same time balance his career. After a rough two years of mourning coupled with a dismal season, Greg and his girls travel to a small vacation community deep in the Catskills. There he meets Aiden Burke, a local artisan with a past who enchants not only Greg’s daughters but Greg as well. During a vacation filled with laughter, acceptance, and morning goose parades, the two men fall for each other, which begins a journey down a winding road of revelations and romance.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Pines and Violets is the seventh book in VL Locey's Colors of Love series. Each book is easily read as a standalone.

Greg's a black hockey player who's spending some time in the woods with his daughters. Still grieving the loss of his wife, he's surprised to find himself attracted to the strange guy with the goats.

Their story is cute and sweet, with everything evolving naturally between the men. And I adore the kids and their contribution to the story. They are cute and funny, and totally loveable.

I appreciate that Greg never struggles with his sexuality. Instead, this is the story of him falling in love, coming out, and dealing with some obstacles that are in his way.

Their story is full of first times and sexual experimentation. It's a story with racism and homophobia, both of which had my heart hurting for Greg.

Theirs is a story of redemption, acceptance, and forgiveness. It's a story of finding one's place in the world again. And I love it all!

Pines and Violets is the perfect feel-good escape. This VL Locey is nice and low-angst, with plenty to keep you charmed throughout.

Suddenly Beck (Belong to Me #1) by Vawn Cassidy

Amazon Link - Available in KU ?????
Goodreads Link

A surprisingly sweet, sinfully sexy, and deliciously hilarious romp along the Cornish coast.

Nathan Elliott has run away from home at the age of twenty-six. His teenage rebellion may have come ten years late, but better late than never. Leaving behind a world of wealth and privilege, and a strict patriarchal family that would never except a gay son, he’s ready to embrace life and make up for lost time, but nothing’s ever that simple. A coin toss, a delayed train, and a wrong bus later, and Nat finds himself in a small bay in Cornwall being hauled out of the ocean by a gorgeous stranger and wondering how the hell his life got so off track.

Beck Ainsley lives life by a very simple ethos, don’t get attached, don’t get involved and don’t fall in love. He’s been there, done that and got the t-shirt that reads I’m a gullible idiot. Now, he keeps his life simple; all he needs is his dog, his art, his rambling sea cottage overlooking the bay and a few choice waves to surf. He’s not looking for love or commitment, but when he ends up plucking a posh boy from London with incredible blue eyes from the ocean, Cupid doesn’t just shoot him with an arrow, he decides to club him senseless with the bow too.

One simple agreement. A summer fling, a chance to act on the insane attraction between them with no strings attached, and at the end of the summer they walk away.
There’s just one problem, fate is a fickle and capricious creature, and she has no intention of letting them walk away unscathed. They’re about to discover that sometimes the heart wants, what the heart wants…

From author Wendy Saunders writing as Vawn Cassidy, comes this hot and sweet, first time, MM romance that will leave you laughing out loud and fanning yourself from the heat…

Can be read as a Standalone

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Suddenly Beck is the first book in the Belong to Me series by Vawn Cassidy. It's a wonderful, feel good read set in Cornwall.

From the start, this story pulled me in. We meet Nathan under some circumstances that leave him struggling and confused.

As he says, he's off to find something better. "...I didn't know where I wanted to go, I just knew where I didn't want to be." And thus starts his tale.

Nathan and Beck are great together. I enjoy the way they meet and the natural way things evolve for them. I love that Nat helps Beck's family while they help him in return. It's all heart-warming and sweet. These men are perfect together and I just love the way they compliment one another.

I love this little small town and all the charming characters, such as Molly. There are so many secondary characters who fully come to life and add to the fun. The setting is wonderful and I could easily imagine living there. But best of all, is the way the town, and Beck's family take Nat in, making him a part of this supportive community and big family.

Written in alternating first person pov, the author fully brings the characters to life. It's definitely more detailed than I needed. For example, I didn't find the detailed surfing lessons necessary and found myself skipping forward.

Suddenly Beck is a wonderful small town romance. I am happy with this Vawn Cassidy read and can't wait to see what happens next in this sweet series. This is perfect the next time you're looking for a sweet, small town romance.

Holt's Hope (Protect and Serve #5) by Pandora Pine

Amazon Link   - Available in KU

Former Army pilot Quentin Harding has finally gotten his life back on track after a devastating injury ended his military career. Flying has always been his greatest dream come true, a dream he thought was over after his helicopter was shot down. Qualifying as an Angel Flight pilot, Quentin can take to the skies once again, helping people receive care unavailable in their hometowns.

Cancer patient Holt Robertson’s only lifeline is his weekly Angel Flight chopper trip from Albany to Boston to receive treatment for leukemia while he waits on a potential matching bone marrow donor. Usually a boring trip, he’s surprised to meet new pilot, Quentin, who isn’t at all what Holt bargained for. Tall, and handsome, he’s the kind of man who could give Holt something to live for. If only Quentin felt the same way in return.

When Holt’s condition takes a turn for the worse, Quentin steps up to the plate offering him a place to stay as his course of treatment ramps up. Living in the crazy McCoy household, Holt finds himself falling for Quentin’s brothers, his rambunctious nieces, and falls hardest of all for Quentin himself.

Faced with illness, frustration, and a drop of sunshine, both men fight for love and a bright future filled with endless tomorrows.

Holt’s Hope is the final book in the Protect and Serve series. Catch up with all your favorite characters and their ultimate happy endings!

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Holt's Hope is a wonderful addition to the Protect & Serve series. The fifth book in this Pandora Pine series, it's best read as part of the series.

Holt and Quentin are two men who feel an instant connection. Holt is getting cancer treatments, and finds himself under Quentin's care.

Both men know pain and suffering. Quentin's experiences make it easy for him to feel comfortable with Holt. Of course, Holt is used to people not knowing how to talk to him as he's sick.

These men are fabulous. Quentin's past includes a mentally ill mother who couldn't care for him. He spent years in the military, leaving without a leg. This is a man who knows suffering, and yet also knows how to survive.

Then there's Holt who's sick and isn't used to a caring, supportive, and accepting family like Quentin's.

They are wonderful together, easily falling in love, with both being exactly what the other needs.

And as always, Mandy and David are family goals. They are absolutely amazing parents. And we get more Lola, who I just adore. I would read this just for her. This entire large family is amazing. As usual, the author excels in developing a strong and loving family who the reader easily wishes to be a part of.

The beauty of this author is her ability to write a tale with some extremely serious issues without ever making the story heavy. I appreciate this whole heartedly. It's a gift to keep everything light despite the trauma involved. And as a reader, I can't get enough of the way Pandora writes.

I'll admit I was a little distracted by some of the Albany info, as I wish it had been the real names instead of made up names. But that is on me, and most people wouldn't ever even notice. But, I did cringe every time the airport's name is mentioned.

Holt's Hope is sweet, tender, and cute. And the ending, oh the ending! It's wonderfully sweet and perfect. Overall, this is another feel-good, charming Pandora Pine read.

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW - MF - Homecoming (Speakeasy Taproom #3) by Rebecca Norinne

HOMECOMING BY REBECCA NORINNE

Release Date: July 1, 2021

Cover Design: Elle Maxwell Designs

Who knew falling in love with my fake girlfriend could feel so real?

I don’t have time for distractions, which is a huge problem since my new next-door neighbor Rosalie Wentworth is very distracting. She’s kind, beautiful, and makes me laugh like no woman ever has before.

Unfortunately, the two of us add up to one really sad country song—I’m nursing a bruised ego following a broken engagement and she’s suffering through a messy divorce—so I vow to set my attraction aside and focus on being her friend instead.

That’s easier said than done, however, since her mom is convinced Rosalie and I are perfect for each other. When one of her matchmaking schemes goes a step too far, Rosalie and I hatch a plan of our own: pretend to date for a couple of months to get her mom off our backs.

It’s foolproof, really.

Only, what started as a fake relationship is starting to feel very real, and now I don’t know if I can go back to the way things were before. Because it turns out if home is where the heart is, then Rosalie is mine.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Homecoming is the third book in the Speakeasy Taproom series. This is Rebecca Norinne's contribution to this multi-author series.

I feel into this story early on and enjoyed it all. Rosalie and Preston's relationship is cute, charming, and well worth the work.

There's a ton of sweetness in this story. I adore the matchmaking efforts and Gloria's desire to get these two together. Once they finally agree to a friendship, things naturally move forward, with them slowly falling in love.

Their story is full of family issues for both of them. Rosalie's ex is an ass and isn't going away easily. Meanwhile, Preston's ex left him for his brother. Ouch.

Both of them are daydream worthy, going above and beyond to support one another. It's easy to get swoony over their actions.

I love it all. Homecoming is a wonderful addition to this series. Rebecca Norinne had me entertained throughout this great tale. Definitely pick this one up the next time you're in the mood for sweet and cute.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Keeping Kellen is a great read by Amy Aislin. The second book in the Keeping Him series, it's easily read as a standalone.

This book had me excited from the start. Best friend's brother! My favorite trope.

Brandt's back home, staying with his friend, Kellen.

The history of these two is well established, with the strength of their friendship easy to feel.

They're super cute together and I adore seeing them make the little moves necessary to form a romantic relationship.

This is a story with work issues, family issues, and some major decisions.  The group of friends and family add tremendously to the story.

Keeping Kellen is an adorable read. This Amy Aislin tale is fairly easy going, and it's a delightful read. I enjoyed it all.

“Brant.” Wendy pulled her shell-shocked brother into a hug, her very pregnant belly getting in the way. Maggie’s screaming intensified as she was squished between her mom and her uncle.

Brant winced as she wailed in his ear. “Hey,” he said weakly.

“Pew, pew.”

“Sorry I couldn’t come pick you up. I had to get the twins from day camp and Nick won’t be home for another hour.”

“It’s all good.” Brant nodded at Kellan. “Kell found me.”

Wendy swept her gaze up and down Brant’s tall frame. Since the Harkrader siblings were otherwise occupied, Kellan allowed himself to do the same.

Even dressed down in loose sweatpants and a wrinkled T-shirt, Brant looked like an athlete. At six feet tall, Kellan was only about an inch or so taller than him, but Brant had him beat on muscle mass. Kellan used the home gym in his basement on an almost daily basis; still, Brant’s wide shoulders, narrow hips, and defined biceps said jock in a way that Kellan’s own body said works out only as much as he has to, to stay fit and attract a mate.

Yes, it was super shallow, he was aware. But that was the dating game, wasn’t it?

It was one of the reasons he avoided the dating scene—it was all so superficial.

Not that he’d had the opportunity to date since moving back home from Vancouver last summer—or the interest, if he was honest. He’d had enough to do with getting his business off the ground. And considering how spectacularly his reputation had been shot at his last job, building it into a successful one was more important than ever.

So really, the only reason he worked out at this point was because it had become a habit.

He supposed there were worse ones.

“Your hair’s so long,” Wendy said, giving the strands sticking out the bottom of Brant’s hat a tug. “What do they call this in the hockey world? Flow? You need a haircut, my friend.”

“Uh . . .”

“Pew, pew.”

“Joey, have you said hello to your uncles?”

“Yup!”

Maggie chose that moment to spit up all over herself.

“Aw, Mags.” Wendy kissed her forehead. “Let’s get you cleaned up.”

She disappeared into the laundry room, where Kellan knew she kept spare clothes for all three kids for just such an occasion.

Brant stared after her, blank-faced.

Kellan leaned closer to him. “You know you can always stay with me, right?” He’d even offered when Brant had announced, less than two weeks ago, that he was moving back.

Unblinking, Brant turned his stare in his direction.

“No screaming children.”

Brant whimpered.

Amused by the whole situation, Kellan bumped their shoulders. “Think about it.”

Press One for Fake Boyfriend is a fun fake boyfriend romance by Joe Satoria. The first book in the Dial a Man series, I'm excited to see what comes next.

Wyatt and Kane's story is sweet and full of feel good vibes.

This is definitely a unique to me kind of story, as Wyatt hires Kane to be his fake boyfriend for a weekend away with a famous chef.

The chef stuff and baking camp is fun, although the famous chef is definitely a little crazy and eccentric. Of course, this adds a lot to the story.

I enjoy the way their friendship develops, with the feelings slowly becoming real. The opposite natures of the two complement one another well.

Add in a little bit of tension about Kane's job as an escort, and things just get better. I really enjoyed these parts a lot.

I like the author's writing style, which includes a good pace, and an easy to follow style.

Press One for Fake Boyfriend is a great choice when you're in the mood for a somewhat fluffy, easy read. This Joe Satoria romance is a great mix of entertaining, sweet, and romantic.
