GRL 2019 AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT - Saint and the Sinner (Wilde Love #4) by Sam Burns

In my attempt to cover some of the attending authors for this year's GRL,
I am reviewing

Saint and the Sinner
by Sam Burns!

BLURB

Owen Quinn has been trailing after his brother’s best friend since he was a kid, but what everyone took as admiration has always been love. For years, he’s had to keep his distance because the object of his affection has always been taken. Now with his father sick and the career he’s been planning since he was in high school circling the drain, the one person who’s there for him is the man he loves, but can’t have.

Mickey Martin is practically a member of the Quinn family. He grew up sneaking sips of sacramental wine in the church storage room with Keegan, looking after Owen, and since he was fifteen, working for Brendan. When his mom passed away, they were right there by his side. He owes the Quinns everything, but now his love for the youngest Quinn might cost him all that he holds dear.

Saint and the Sinner contains sexual scenes, and is intended for an audience age 18 and up.

REVIEW
My Rating - 5 Stars!

Damn! Saint and the Sinner is a hell of a fun book. Full of bad guys, action and danger, it's also full of love. Owen and Mickey. Awww, I was hoping they'd get their story, and they have.

I enjoy most is that this series nothing like I was expecting. The danger is light and not the main part of the story. It's similar to Alexa Land's books if you're familiar with them. The heaviness is always there, in the background, but not the main story. You're never truly scared, focusing more of figuring out how they will make a relationship work than on any looming danger.

Owen falling in love with his dad's friend and worker, Mickey is everything I wanted for these two. A story of two men who've long loved one another, but had many complications in their way. There's so much to love; the age difference, the taboo nature of the secrecy. Add in some awkward moments, fear, and a sick father, and it's one hell of a read. Not to mention all the issues between Owen and his dad.

I'm always impressed when an author has me falling for a bad guy. It's fantastic when the reader can see the good in the guy and loves him too. And damn does the author deliver with making the reader fall for Mickey.

This tale definitely took some twists and turns I didn't expect, which is always fun. Overall, Saint and the Sinner is a tale of love and loyalty. Mickey works for Owen's father, owes the man and feels indebted to him. But he's also been long attracted to the younger Owen.

Mickey's a complicated man, full of failed dates with women, as his heart has always been waiting for Owen. Despite thinking he's not good enough for Owen, he can't stop his feelings.

Omg, I love this story and these men! Well done Sam Burns. Saint and the Sinner is the perfect "light action" romance. Basically, I love it. Every single second of it. Although able to be read as a standalone, the whole series is amazing and I highly suggest you read them all.

Sam Burns

Sam lives in the Midwest with husband and cat, which is even less exciting than it sounds, so she's not sure why you're still reading this.

She specializes in LGBTQIA+ fiction, usually with a romantic element. There's sometimes intrigue and violence, usually a little sex, and almost always some swearing in her work. Her writing is light and happy, though, so if you're looking for a dark gritty reality, you've come to the wrong author.

Sins of the Father!

BLURB

Six years ago, Keegan Quinn was working for his father in the Irish Mob. When a shootout left him shattered in more ways than one, he left the family business and opened a bar in downtown Chicago. Now with his father sick and the FBI investigating the family, his old life is threatening to tear his new one apart.

The last thing FBI agent Jon Brookfield expected to find while investigating the mob was a kind, soft-spoken man like Keegan Quinn. Dating wasn’t in Jon’s plans, but he’s willing to make changes. When the Quinn family business and Keegan’s ex-boyfriend threaten to come between them, Jon has to decide just how important their newfound relationship is to him.

This novel is intended for adult audiences, and contains swearing, violence, and sex scenes.

REVIEW
My Rating -  5 Stars!

Damn! Sins of the Father is another fantastic read by Sam Burns. It has all the charm and romance of the first book, Straight From the Heart.

Full of some mystery and intrigue, it's still a relatively low angst read. In fact, my favorite thing about this book, and series, is the light hearted feel despite the ominous subject matter. This is definitely not a dark or heavy read. I had expected a dark story, but instead I was treated to a delightful and sweet romance, with the perfect mix of bad guys, good guys, and romance.

Jon and Keegan are so amazing together, and certainly make for an odd couple. A federal agent falling in love with a crook's son? Hell, yes! I love this twist of Jon falling for the son of the man he's investigating.

Jon falling for Keegan, being able to separate the actions from the man, is wonderful and makes for an amazing storyline. As well, it's a fascinating take on family loyalty, as Keegan knows of his dad's sins, yet still loves him.

The tale is certainly different than most, with a whole lot of intrigue and suspense, while being mainly a romance. Keegan
's father is certainly not a good guy and Marcus is no saint, but love can conquer all for these men, Keegan and Jon.

Sins of the Father is a fun and compelling read. I fell in love immediately and couldn't put it down.
It's easily read as a standalone, but definitely is more fun when the books are read in order. And best of all, there are more books in the series!
