Love isn’t always enough.

Russ Bishop and Stephen Parker are in love. They’ve settled into their relationship and are both happy. But Russ wants more than what they have now, he wants forever.

To him that means marriage, but for Stephen that has never been an option. Marriage equality still isn't recognized in Georgia so why want what he can't have?

When Stephen’s ex re-appears, they’ll have to decide once and for all if they’re ready to commit to a lifetime together.

________________________________________________________________________________

He reached out and squeezed his thigh. “Speaking of commitment, I know we’ve talked about this before, but I’d like to make an appointment with a lawyer to draw up all the power of attorney and living will paperwork soon. If something happened to you … Well, I don’t want to find myself in the position I was in with Jeremy. Alan is wonderful, so I know he wouldn’t keep me away, but we might as well have all of the legal protection in place.”

Russ nodded. “Yeah, you’re right. We should do that soon.”

They had essentially already made the commitment to each other, so why not formalize it? Even if Stephen lost every penny or became sick or injured, Russ wasn’t going anywhere, and he knew Stephen felt the same. There was no question in his mind that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Stephen. And after meeting his mom, he no longer had the smallest doubt that he was capable of serious commitment. He wasn’t her, and he never had been. He was in this relationship for the long haul with Stephen, and the law should recognize that.

It seemed so cold and soulless to go to a lawyer’s office to draw up paperwork though. It felt like too big a moment to treat that way. He knew some couples had parties after, to celebrate, but that didn’t seem right. No, what he wanted was to publicly declare his feelings for his partner and show the rest of the world how much Stephen mattered to him.

He didn’t want to sign a few sheets of paper and pretend as if it weren’t one of the biggest moments in his life. He wanted more than that. He wanted … Russ stilled as it hit him what he truly desired. He wanted marriage. He blinked, trying to absorb the enormity of that realization. For a guy who’d struggled with the idea of long-term commitment, he knew he had come a long way. Maybe it was time he showed Stephen how serious he was about their relationship. Hell, he wouldn’t be surprised if Stephen had wanted it for a while and had been hesitating because he was worried Russ wasn’t ready.

He glanced over at Stephen and pictured standing in front of an officiant, their friends, and family and telling all of them that he wanted to spend the rest of his life making Stephen happy. He could picture it so clearly, and it felt right.

Maybe Georgia was light-years behind other states when it came to marriage equality and all it would legally recognize was signatures on a power of attorney form. But there was no reason they couldn’t go out of state to get married. And someday, when Georgia finally recognized it, they’d be married there too.

Husband. Russ tested the word out in his head, and something about it felt so right. He felt a surge of giddy elation as he imagined sliding a ring onto Stephen’s finger as they promised to spend the rest of their lives together.

He was going to do this. He was going to ask Stephen to marry him.

When Tony Blake walks into what might be a blind date, he’s surprisingly intrigued despite his irritation with his meddling brother. But when Lucas turns out to be a new employee for their food truck, Tony’s usual charm deserts him.

Lucas might be fantastically creative in the kitchen, but to Tony’s disappointment, he’s not interested in more than a casual hookup. Old Tony would have loved the lack of strings, but New Tony is finally ready for it all.

He’s ready to find love, and to help the food truck thrive. What he needs is Lucas next to him, revolutionizing their carnivore menu with his vegan point of view, and what he wants is Lucas underneath him in bed, turning his life inside out.

As the kitchen heats up in the Los Angeles summer, can Tony figure out how to drive Lucas crazy enough to change his mind?

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Beth Bolden's Drive Me Crazy is the first book in the Food Truck Warrior's series. If the rest are anything like this one, it should be a great series.

Tony and Lucas don't get off to a good start, as Tony doesn't like being set up. But soon the two develop an easy comradery, with an attraction that is ever growing.

Their story includes a mystery, as someone is stealing from Tony's truck, and a strong friendship as the two start to respect one another and get closer.

Their chemistry is strong and hot, with some steamy phone sex and a smoking public kiss. The physical side of their relationship starts slow, with a nice build up. But once they are there, they can't keep their hands off each other.

As for Lucas, his past and his struggles are damn depressing. I just wanted to wrap Lucas in my arms, protect him, and help him. His goals are real and his motivation is heartfelt.

Their journey includes a jealous co-worker, some food truck competitors, and plenty of yummy sounding food. If you're in the mood for a surprising reveal to the mystery, move on. This mystery is only a mystery to Tony, not the reader. Don't let that distract you though, it's a great read and the suspense helps guide the tale along.

I always enjoy the author's writing style, with well developed characters and their intriguing storyline. The flow is great, and the sex is hot.

Drive Me Crazy is a fun read. Definitely check out this Beth Bolden book when you're in the mood for something sweet and sexy, with a side of suspense.

As for Wyatt and Ryan, you can read their story in book two of the Kitchen Gods series, Catch Me.

Second Nature (His Chance #2) by Alexa Land

Amazon Link - Available in KU
Goodreads Link

The last time I saw Gabriel, he was putting me on a bus and sending me to some relatives I’d never met, with the hope of a fresh start after rehab.

That was four years ago.

Now he’s back in my life. I’ve wanted him for years, while he’s always thought of me as just a friend. This is my one shot at turning our friendship into so much more.

But how do I convince him I’m the man he needs, and not the broken boy he used to know?

Second Nature is book two in Alexa Land’s His Chance Series, which is a spinoff of her best-selling Firsts and Forever Series. Firsts and Forever readers will recognize some familiar faces, but this gay romance can be read as a stand-alone.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Second Nature is classic Alexa Land. The second book in the His Chance series, Land starts us off on Catalina Island, the setting of her Castaways series, and ends up taking us to San Fransico, where her Firsts and Forever series takes place.

For this book, Gabriel and Riley get their second chance, after many years of hoping to find one another again. I love these men. They are survivors who clearly belong together. They helped each other in the past and are doing so again.

Their story includes former prostitution, drugs, a vile Dom, and more. They have to deal with temptation, stubbornness, and pride. And for the good stuff, their tale includes sexy panties, delicious outfits, and a pantry revolution.

The main characters are fabulous, with complex pasts and a strong connection. They truly deserve a happy ending. And the side characters consist of past characters who made me cheer when they showed up. Yes, I actually cheered out loud.

My favorite quote has to be "Why not just let people be themselves and be happy? It doesn't cost anything to accept others instead of judging them." If only!

Second Nature is a compelling romance that will keep you satisfied throughout. I love Alexa Land and the heart she infuses into her stories. This one is sure to delight!

I couldn’t not come to his show. I had to at least see Cashton perform.

I’ve seen countless songs and concert clips on YouTube, but nothing—nothing—beats the real thing.

The plan was to watch him, maybe catch his eye and see if there’s any spark of recognition, but I couldn’t get remotely close to the stage.

I hadn’t decided if I was going to try to talk to him afterward or not. Or if I’d even be allowed.

I was fully waiting for security to tell me I’m shit out of luck, but apparently, they’d been told of my possible arrival by Cashton’s manager.

I huff.

Manager.

Cashton has come so far, and until the moment I saw him, until we came face-to-face, I didn’t know how I’d respond to being in his presence again.

Apparently my first response was to wrap myself around him.

“I’ve missed you,” I rumble in his ear.

He smells different. He feels different. More man and less … boy.

Even though he was eighteen the last time I saw him and not much different to now.

He’s just … different. But I love it instead of despising it like I was worried I would.

He’s lived a long ten years, and I want to know every story, every adventure, but he’s frozen against me, and now it’s becoming abundantly clear that this is probably crossing a whole heap of lines.

I pull back but can’t help keeping my arms around him. “Cashton?”

His brown eyes blink up at me. His hair has gotten even longer than the last time I saw him, bringing back the eighties rock band look, and his tempting mouth I’ve missed so much is only inches away. Nope, closer than that.

Closer.

His tongue darts out, wetting his lip.

“Cashton …” I say again.

“Fuck it, we can catch up later.” He closes the small gap between us, pressing his mouth to mine.

Pressing, attaching, attacking … Same thing, right?

Damn, I remember everything about the way this man kisses. I remember his demanding tongue that liked to dominate my mouth, right up until I fought back and took control of it. Of everything.

Of his tongue, his mouth, his body …

The moan he lets out is deep and guttural, and worry about crossing lines is no longer at the forefront of my mind.

I’m still taller than him, but he used to be more muscular than me. Neither of us look like muscly gym rats, but I’ve at least filled out enough to match him in that area now. It makes me feel bigger than him, probably bigger than I actually am, but fitting myself against him, I surround him and hold him to me as if he was always mine to possess.

Cashton trembles in my arms the way he used to. The way he would when he wanted something but was too shy to ask for it.

“I want you to fuck me,” he demands.

Guess that shy thing is something he got over, then.

As much as I should pull away and slow this down, there’s no way that’s possible.

“Turn around.” My throat is scratchy and dry, putting an extra growl in my voice.

Like any time I’d told Cashton to do something in bed, he complies immediately.

Nostalgia settles over me.

I plaster my front to his back and push him toward the side of the tour bus.

His narrow hips feel amazing in my hands, and that round butt of his looks amazing framed in those tight pants.

“I’ve fucking missed this ass.” I press forward, rubbing against him with my already hard and aching cock.

Cashton moans. “I’ve missed your dick.”

I find that hard to believe when I’m sure he’s had a buffet of cocks since the one and only time I fucked him, but now’s not the time to get into that.

I’m going to take his words at face value—that he’s missed my cock now it’s pressed against him.

I run my hand down the middle of his back, and he shudders under my touch. “You gonna take me like you did ten years ago? Want me to fuck you until you can’t shake your ass onstage like I saw today? You think this ass belongs to your fans?”

“Well, it hasn’t belonged to you in ten years.”

I try not to wince. Instead, I take on that commanding, dominant role I know he loved even back then. I want to show him that even though so long has passed, I’m not all that different. I still want him crumbling for me and coming apart from my touch, my mouth, my body.

My fist tangles in his long hair, and he yelps in pain, but I don’t let up. “I have news for you. It has always belonged to me.”

Have Mercy by Christina Lee

Julian North

My whole world changed with one roadside bomb and an honorable discharge. Not even the city I used to love can ease the restlessness inside me. I don’t expect visiting my cousin Sienna’s farm to do the trick either, but the change of scenery can’t hurt. Wyoming isn’t what I expected—from the mischievous pig following me around, to the rescue horse I’ve become strangely fascinated with. And then there’s Kerry, the handsome, brooding cowboy, who somehow calms the storm inside me—and just happens to be Sienna’s ex-husband.

Kerry Carmichael

I’ve had a rough go of it since I came out—disappointing my family, the divorce, and the blow of my daughter’s illness. Things are settling down now, my kiddo is healthy, and Sienna and I are finally on solid ground. Not everyone accepts me, but I’ve owned my truth, even if I spend my life solo. Only, now that Julian’s here, I’m not so lonesome anymore. He’s a kindred spirit. First as someone to talk to, then as…more. The first time I hold him through one of his nightmares, I feel a rightness I never expected to find.

We know this’ll end with the summer, but with every stolen kiss against the stable walls, with every heated or tender moment, I fall deeper. The reality is, I can’t risk my family or the business by going public with him. I know this can never last and that Julian doesn’t belong here. So why does it feel like he already does?

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Have Mercy is a spectacular standalone cowboy romance by Christina Lee. It has cowboys, horses, and romance galore.

I absolutely adore Julian and Kerry. Both are broken, at changing point in their lives, just being who they need to be while trying to survive. Don't worry though, it's not overly heavy. There is plenty of light hearted and sweet moments to lighten things up.

Julian's an ex marine who's suffering from some major PTSD. Meanwhile, Kerry is a cowboy who's trying to be the father he needs to be to his child, while dealing with the effects of having come out.

Kerry's backstory is heartbreaking, leaving him and his ex dealing with trying to heal their daughter, Ainsley, through equine therapy. It's well explored, with both the therapy and the therapist adding immensely to the tale.

There are many, many amazing moments that touch my heart during this book. First there's Julian and the horse Mercy, who he just connects with naturally. Seeing them heal one another is beautiful. Then there's the way Kerry helps with Julian's PTSD, just helping to ground him and bring him back to the present. I was truly touched by this aspect.

These are two men who have been living lives that left them feeling uncomfortable. Two men finding their new place in the world. Of course, they are also attracted to one another, but Kerry is only in town temporarily.

As for the woman who brought them together, Sienna, she is wonderful. Adding to the fun is the fact that she's Kerry's ex and Julian's cousin. How's that for a forbidden aspect?

Written in alternating 1st person pov, both men fully come alive, with their feelings jumping off the pages. The characters are caring and lovable, perfectly fitting together. Their story is beautiful as they move from strangers to friends to more. The setting is atmospheric, with everything easily imagined and the animals coming to life.

Have Mercy is a truly touching book. Christina Lee always keeps me intrigued throughout and this one is no different. I was sad to see it end.

FINAL Just Friends

A Never Just Friends Novel, Book 1

Roo

Five years ago, I walked away from Sunbury, Oregon, and left my best friend behind.

The move was supposed to get my life on track. I even had a list.

Life changing epilepsy surgery. Check.

See the world. Check

Get over my straight best friend … Not exactly.

No matter where I go or who I meet, I can’t let Tanner go.

I’m back to tell him how I feel. To get the closure I need once and for all.

Only now I’m here and falling for him all over again, it’s getting harder to say the words.

Because once I have my closure, I’ll be gone.

And this time it will be for good.

Tanner

When my best friend, Roo, left for Australia, it was the worst day of my life.

I thought we’d have each other always.

But Roo needed the surgery so I let him go, thinking he’d come straight back.

Five years is a long time.

Now he’s here, all I want is to hold on tight.

I need to show him what he means to me.

The problem is, I’m not exactly sure what that is.

My draw to him has always been confusing and different—everyone in town says so. But I struggle to understand it.

All I know is I won’t survive him leaving again.

And I’ll do anything to make him stay.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Oh, how I love Saxon James' Just Friends! The first book in the Never Just Friends series, this has the hope of becoming a favorite series of mine.

Roo and Tanner's story is a second chance romance that combines friends to lovers and forced proximity. I absolutely adore how oblivious Tanner is about his own feelings, let alone Roo's feelings.

Roo's an Aussie who's back in the US after leaving 5 years ago. When they were separated, it was a tear jerking moment. Now they are temporary roommates and sharing a bed.

The two men were best friends, and upon being reunited things are a little awkward, which I appreciate. Roo is secretly in love with his best friend and it just ups the tension. Of course, they naturally blend and can't help but to fall into their natural interactions again.

Tanner's always been straight, and his sudden sexual awakening is well done. They play fight, they banter, and they bring all the feels. Omg. I love it all, including the lipstick scene.

The one thing I don't like is the way the author handles Tanner's dyslexia. It's well done, but a personal pet peeve of mine. I hate when a character is ashamed of his learning difference. I just wanted to yell at Tanner to ask for help. Of course, I have an up close look at how dyslexia can make one feel dumb and ashamed if they don't fully own it.

Damn. The author's writing style is fabulous. Despite being written in present tense, there is plenty of descriptive phrases around the verbs to keep it from bothering me at all. Told from alternating 1st pov, the reader is fully absorbed into the character's minds, gifting us with an up close look into their thoughts, feelings, and motivations.

Just Friends is a must read for anyone who loves friends to lovers. I couldn't put it down. This is one of those special light-hearted reads that I could read over and over again.

Special Release Blitz Excerpt:

Tanner’s voice dips low when he speaks. “I was a bit in awe of you growing up.”

Me?” There is no way I heard that right.

“Yeah, you. You didn’t give a shit what anyone thought, and you went through more than most people did.”

“Oh no, I definitely cared.”< /span>

“Okay, but you never let it get to you.”

“You know it did. Seizing out at school, feeling sick, the staring

“I know.” His soft voice derails the fit I was working up to, and I take a deep breath.

“There was a lot I hated about myself.”

Tanner’s eyebrows bunch up, and he runs one large hand over my head, then snatches it away like he’s second-guessing himself. “There was a lot you hated, but you never hated yourself. You flipped off anyone who gave you shit, and did what you wanted.”

The fact that he sees it that way … My head drops forward as I start laughing. “That’s because I had you. Because I knew that no matter what, shit between us would never change, and if anyone really upset me, you’d kick their ass.”

“Again, that only happened once. I hated fighting.”

“And yet you still beat Toby Michels into the ground when he poured water in my lap and called me a baby.”

Even now, seven years later, Tanner’s jaw gets tighter. “Asshole.”

“See? You always had my back.”

“I always will. It just … pissed me off. I’d see how exhausted and checked out you were before and after a seizure. Those things took a lot out of you. It wasn’t fair that dumbasses thought they could give you shit about it too.”

And lying here, studying my best friend, agreeing to share his bed, going over old memories … it makes me feel lighter than I have in a long time. But I can’t enjoy it. Because of the big gay elephant in the room.

I lick my dry lips as I try to form the words in my head. As I try to convince myself that I need to tell him. Because holding myself back, when he’s making every effort to reconnect, isn’t just uncomfortable for me, it’s unfair to him.

And this closeness—not only the physical part—is starting to mess with my head. I swear his stare dips to my mouth, which makes me do the same. I trace his lips with my gaze, wishing it were my tongue instead. All I want is to press closer, to feel his warmth, to taste his breath.

Suddenly, the thick blanket feels too restrictive.

I need to tell him.

And though he feels an immediate connection with a handsome high school principal, he can’t stand the thought of being rejected.

As the chemistry between them becomes white-hot, Sam’s reluctant to introduce his new lover to his family, dreading they’ll be angry about the age difference and their dynamic. And while Theron falls hard for the beautiful young man, he worries he’s too old to give his sweet boy a real future.

Can Sam and Theron overcome their fears to embrace the love they both deserve?

Trust in Me is the scorching third and final book in The Lodge series set in the kinky town of Annandale. If you like blistering bedroom scenes, tender relationships, and happy endings, then you’ll adore Quinn Ward’s spicy story.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Good god, every single moment of Quinn Ward's Trust in Me is freaking amazing! This is an absolute gem for any fans of age play.

This is the first time I have read about a transgender little, which added to the intrigue. Omg, the special little ways in which Theron makes Sammy feel special is spectacular. I love it all.

Poor Sam is full of insecurities about his body. He's a boy, but struggles with his anatomy and his desires. I love the way Theron treasures him, yes, absolutely treasures him, and makes him know he's special.

This story is full of tender moments that will melt your heart, as Theron builds up Sam's confidence while allowing him to be who he is. And seeing Sammy in his little space is fantastic.

Told in alternating 1st person pov, every single thought and feeling jumps off the pages.

There are many little touches that melts my heart, as Theron gives Sammy training pants, children silverware, and special toys. But by far, my favorite moment is Theron's dismissal of the term "junk," instead calling it his "treasure." A totally heart melting moment.

Overall, Trust in Me is a mesmerizing read. This Quinn Ward gem is a must for my re-read list.
