Sheltered (The End, and the Beginning #1) by Sariah Skye

Amazon Link - Available in KU
Goodreads Link

Almost three years ago now, the world as we all knew it ended.
But my life didn’t.
When news came about of the virus that would eventually take out billions, I hopped on my bike and headed into the mountains of Montana to hide. That’s where I’ve been ever since, alone in this abandoned town.
Until one day, from seemingly out of nowhere, a beautiful man literally stumbled outside my doorstep. He was weak, vulnerable, and needed protection. Needed shelter. He was a victim of horrible experiments, imprisoned by the same “people” that caused the virus to begin with, forced to endure agony I could never fathom.
Until now.
He needed me to keep him safe.
I needed him to remember that life is still worth living.
In the end, he and I will prove that love is the only thing left that matters.

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Sheltered is an interesting dystopian read by Sariah Skye. At first, I was weary, as this isn't the best time to read a dystopian story, but I am glad I persisted.

The story is well done, with an interesting world and intriguing characters. It's a story of diseases, aliens, mates, and more. There is a good amount of suspense, as the reader slowly learns what's going on.

The story is one of two gay men who meet when Zeke helps save Niam. Their story is a rollercoaster ride for sure, full of action, danger, and romance. The writing is wonderful and story telling is great. I am definitely impressed with the writing.

Overall, Sarah Skye's Sheltered is a satisfying dystopian story. It's well worth a read next time you're in the mood for an end of the world survival story.

Burn (Ignite #3) by Nora Phoenix

Amazon Link - Available in KU

Blurb

In a world where it’s every man for himself, all they can do is hold on to each other…

An MMM survival romance. The last book in an exciting trilogy!

With soldiers next door, the situation has become dire for Austin, Mack, and Tan. Every time they find a solution for one challenge, another arises, ranging from family members who show up unexpectedly to reunions with people they’d never hoped to see again.

But they may have bigger problems when the earthquakes continue and concern increases about the earth crust’s stability. The only way to prevent an even worse disaster is to stop the aliens from drilling for more oil, but how?

They cling to each other as the future looks more and more bleak. Is there any hope left for a happy ever after for them?

Burn is the last book in the suspenseful Ignite trilogy, a slow burn MMM romance set in an alternative world. This series will end with a deeply satisfying HEA.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Nora Phoenix's Burn, the third book in her Ignite series, is a fantastic end to this thrilling trilogy. And yes, you need to have read the first two books to enjoy this.

Things were bad in Ignite and Smoulder, but things get even worse for the men in Burn. The situation is intense, keeping the reader intrigued throughout.

A tale of survival, the author mixes action with suspense, danger, romance, and love. It's impressive the way that the emotions continue to be about personal growth as well as the current situations they find themselves in. Not only are these three men trying to survive each day, they are also helping one another to deal with their pasts and comfort one another with undying love.

More than anything, I enjoy the way the series is wrapped up. Reading along, it's tough to guess where things will go to have a happy ending, but the author definitely succeeds in leaving things off on a great note. I truly love the ending.

I highly recommend Nora Phoenix's Ignite series when you're in the mood for a gay dystopian tale. Be prepared to just go with it, not looking for accuracy in everything, and you'll enjoy every moment of Burn.

DYSTOPIAN NOVEL - Two Journeys by Clemens P. Suter

Blurb

Alan travels to Tokyo on a routine business trip. A pandemic sweeps over Earth, and Alan finds himself to be the sole survivor. He has to set out on an unexpected adventure. In constant fear of injury, sickness and hunger, he decides to travel back Berlin, home of his family, across Asia and Siberia and 10,000 miles of hardship. This adventurous road novel visualizes with ferocity what it is like to be the last man on earth. Alan experiences the wild landscapes (the Gobi desert, Siberia) as a mix of stunning beauty and omnipresent danger. As Alan finds out, other humans seem to have survived as well, but this discovery provides little comfort. Some of these survivors are eager to use the disaster for their own advantage. Electrifying chapters describe his encounter with Somerset, a psychotic warlord, who is assembling an army to conquer Moscow, if not the entire world. An exciting, haunting book.
"This apocalyptic thriller grabs you in the first couple of pages and never lets go."

My Rating - 3.5 Stars!

Clemens P Suter's Two Journeys is an impressive dystopian novel.

All told from Alan's point of view, the reader is sucked into this story of survival and rebuilding. From the start, as Alan wakes up and finds that everyone around him has died, I couldn't put it down.

Impressive with his vision, the writing is equal parts exciting and thought-provoking. The author excels in his creativity as well as his descriptions of the scenery. Everything is described in an excellent, detailed manner, successfully placing the reader in harm's way along with Alan.

As for Alan, damn, he's one badass man. His intellect and patience helps him along the way.

Two Journeys is well worth a read, but I definitely found the ending to be rushed. I wanted more detail and more of what happens next.

In a world where it’s every man for himself, all they can do is hold on to each other…

A slow burn MMM survival romance. The second book in an exciting trilogy!

Austin, Mack, and Tan have found a safe spot at the deserted farm. They have food and shelter, but what will the cost be of defending their little slice of heaven?

Unexpected visitors keep showing up, and it becomes harder and harder to tell friends from enemies…and the line between right and wrong becomes more and more blurred.

They grow closer and closer, finding comfort with each other, but when disaster strikes and threatens what has blossomed between them, will they find a way through this?

While the world around them burns, all they have are each other.

Smolder is the second book in the suspenseful Ignite series, a slow burn MMM romance set in an alternative world. The romance heats up in this second book, and the men will find their happy ever after in book three.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Smolder is the long awaited second book in Nora Phoenix's Ignite Series.
It's a fantastic continuation of the first book Ignite.

Different than Nora's other books/series, this series is set in a dystopian world. I wasn't sure when I picked up Ignite, but it has everything I love about Nora's books. It has superb world building, terrific character development, and a thrilling storyline.

A continuation of the attack on them in Ignite, Mac, Austin, and Tan are back, trying to figure out their dynamics, while also trying to survive daily threats on their lives. I enjoy how smart the three men are, as they try to figure out their best plans ahead of time. It adds to both the entertainment factor and the complexity of the plot.

The homophobia they faced have influenced each man throughout the years. Mac's innocence is my favorite aspect of the men, as he grew up extremely sheltered. Of course Austin and Tan teaching him the things he doesn't know is delightful and hot.

Smolder is a great combination of intellect, action, danger, and romance. I love this world that Nora Phoenix created and can't wait to read more.
