My Rating - 4 Stars!

Exhale is a novella in the London Love series by Sophia Soames.

I love the first book in the series, Breathe, but I have to admit, this one is a little much at first. It's beautiful, it's sweet, and it's dreamy. But it was a bit too much for me during the beginning portion.

Yes, it's all like a fairy tale, and they fall for that fairy tale hook, line, and sinker. I enjoyed it, but I was also a little uncomfortable by the intensity.

What was supposed to be a hook up became super intense from the start. And, yes, there are manties!

Of course, there's a lot more to this story. Thus, I am glad I kept reading.

In the end, Exhale is a wonderful story. Definitely check out this Sophia Soames tale the next time you're in the mood for a dreamy, fairy tale type read

“No, no, I’m not a virgin.” I dug my hands into my pockets. “I mean, I’ve hooked up with people before. I’ve had sex. It’s just, it never leads anywhere…”

And I was off again, jabbering so fast the cigarette flew from my lips and almost rolled off the platform. I didn’t know where to look as my mouth kept blurting more nonsense. I couldn’t look at him. Fuck. Talk about embarrassing. How did people do this? How did they get over themselves? I couldn’t. I just couldn’t.

“…either they never call again, or they leave before we even get our clothes off. I’m just…hopeless at everything, apparently.” I rounded up my little Ted Talk, picked up the cigarette, then stood there not knowing what to do with it. I didn’t want to put the damn thing back in my mouth. There was no bin. Fuck my life.

Why the hell had I told him all that? Really, Leo?

Leo, Leo mon enfant terrible. I could hear my mother’s voice in my head, scolding me for my stupidity, although she’d probably have been laughing too much to tell me off. She’d moved back to France a few years ago, taken a lover, and then another. She was the queen of hook-ups. I had no idea where she met these men, but they were a new constant in her life—something she didn’t have when I was growing up. It had been just her and me back then, and we’d lived well. Stable. I’d had a good childhood, I honestly couldn’t complain. But there had been no one in my mother’s life and she’d obviously been lonely. Now she wasn’t. She was happily shagging around like a teenager, and secretly, I loved that she did. I loved that she was having fun. At least one of us was.

“Why am I intimidating?” he asked, shuffling his feet. “I don’t mean to be. We don’t have to do anything. We can just go for a coffee if you want?”

“I don’t like coffee,” I muttered like a petulant child. “Look, I’m French, and obviously wired wrong because I’m both lactose and gluten intolerant and I don’t like coffee. So, all that bread and cheese shit is out—”

“You don’t sound French.”

“Grew up here, didn’t I?”

“Oh.”

“Yeah. That’s why I have a crap name. Leo Jacques Leblond.”

“I think your name’s great.”

“Try spelling it every time you give it to someone on the phone. It’s annoying.”

“Hmm.” He was staring at me again, like he had the world at his booted feet. Doc Martens, for fuck’s sake. All polished up and fully visible below his too-short, chequered trousers. He had some ripped, multicoloured rock band T-shirt showing underneath a knitted cardigan, the look completed by a super-cool, vintage long coat. Like some emo. Or not. He wasn’t wearing black but a mixture of beiges and reds. And a bright-blue rucksack. Nothing matched, yet… Yeah. Vogue called. They want their cover model back. The pretty one with the weird clothes.

He was talking again, and I’d totally zoned out.

“…and I said to myself, life is too short. So, I want to do this if you’re still up for it. But maybe do it right, kind of just hang out and get to know each other.”

“I want to have sex,” I stated. Why couldn’t I ever control my mouth?

“I’m totally up for that.” He grinned from under his curls. “That’s the whole point of this, isn’t it? But we’ve been standing here talking for a bit, and it’s nice, and you’re nice, and I’m sure Costa Coffee over there do gluten-free biscuits, and I’ll buy you a bottle of water or whatever your poison is. I just need to sit down and get my head in gear because this is kind of freaky. I’ve never done anything like this before. To be honest, I’m a little weirded out, and now here I am—”

“On some dodgy council estate, meeting up with a dude who’s probably a drug dealer and will have you beaten up in a minute.”

“I hope not!” He laughed, and the world became a little brighter. “Are you a drug dealer?”

“No,” I giggled back. “I promise you. I’m a dull uni student, and I live in a tiny student flat. I haven’t got much to show for myself, but perhaps one day, I’ll have a nice job and a better place to live. That’s my plan. I want to teach French. Or perhaps move to Paris for a while, find my roots.”

“Don’t move to Paris. I’ll never see you again.”

I couldn’t tell if he was serious, so I joked, “You might not want to once you’ve seen me naked.”

He blushed, and it was the cutest thing ever.

“You’re desperate for this coffee thing, huh?”

“Just to clear my head,” he said again. He sounded a little defeated, but I was grateful for a plan that didn’t involve taking him home. I wasn’t sure I could deal with that right now, however much I liked the idea of seeing him naked.

“Come on. Let’s go get you a large coffee—”

“I prefer espresso.”

“You sound like one of those posh kids,” I teased. I couldn’t help myself.

“Maybe once upon a time, I was posh. Not anymore. I still live at home with my siblings in a rundown council terrace in Thorpeton Green, and not the posh part. Like, backstreet-dump Thorpeton, near the industrial estate under the M4.”

“Working-class posh,” I blabbed on. “You look posh, you talk posh, and you look like you just stepped out of a fashion shoot.”

I regretted it even before I finished speaking because now he really looked freaked out, my beautiful, gorgeous man. I wondered how people survived having a partner who looked like him. I mean, he would be with someone amazing one day. Probably some big, rich, muscle bear of a man who would love him and spoil him, while I would be stuck alone in my dingy flat, dreaming of him. I was already jealous of the imaginary rich boyfriend, the one he would love forever.

“You’re deranged,” he said, smirking at me. I sighed, fiddling with my fingers. I’d heard that one before. Then he reached out and grabbed my sleeve. Tugged at me. Smiled as he led me down the steps towards the road. I followed him, thinking at that moment, I would have followed him anywhere. Blindly, desperately and, I think, a little bit in love.

Her long-suffering husband just laughs at her antics. Their children are feral. The Au Pair just sighs.

She lives in a creaky old house in rural London, although her heart is still in Scandinavia.

Discovering that the stories in her head make sense when written down has been part of the most hilarious midlife crisis ever, and she hopes it may long continue.

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW- MF - Charming and the Cherry Blossom by LJ Evans

___________________________________________________________

From award-winning author, LJ Evans, comes a contemporary romance filled with all the magic, hope, and love of a fairy tale plus the small-town, old-soul vibe her fans adore.

Today was a fairy tale...
I inherited a fortune from a dad I never knew,
And a thoroughly charming guy asked me out.

Unfortunately, my fairy tale could disappear in ninety days...
Because there's an impossible task to complete,
And a greedy cousin plotting against me.

Plus, I'm not your typical fairy tale princess.
I have a secret that might send my charming running,
And threatens my future if the press finds out.

If today was a fairy tale...
Why does my happily ever after look so far out of reach?

Inspired by Taylor Swift's "Today Was a Fairytale," this slow-burn romance is pure escapism.

A full-length, standalone adult romance.

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Charming and the Cherry Blossom is a cute romance by LJ Evans.

Hudson and Elle's tale is a fairy tale infused with magic and all the feel good moments you'd expect. Both characters have a tough past, making them sympathetic characters. And wow, the way these two have faced such hardship, while remaining positive, is everything!

There's a lot going on in this story. Elle's new found fortune brings plenty of emotions and pain. But, with the unique gift of Elle's, it also brings peace, healing, and a happily ever after. Oh, her gift brings so many beautiful moments.

The love story has plenty of cuteness throughout. Their meet cute, their play, and all the added magic, is simply wonderful.

There are plenty of obstacles for the two to overcome, adding to the fun. Some people just don't want them to be happy. But, fear not, this is a fairytale, and the good guys will win.

Overall, Charming and the Cherry Blossom is an easy and entertaining read. Reading this modern day fairy tale by LJ Evans is definitely a fun way to spend some time.

Award winning author, LJ Evans, lives in the California Central Valley with her husband, daughter, and the terrors called cats. She's been writing, almost as a compulsion, since she was a little girl and will often pull the car over to write when a song lyric strikes her. A former first-grade teacher, she now spends her free time reading and writing, as well as binge-watching original shows like The Crown, A Discovery of Witches, Veronica Mars, and Stranger Things.

If you ask her the one thing she won't do, it's pretty much anything that involves dirt--sports, gardening, or otherwise. But she loves to write about all of those things, and her first published heroine was pretty much involved with dirt on a daily basis, which is exactly why LJ loves fiction novels--the characters can be everything you're not and still make their way into your heart.

Her debut novel, MY LIFE AS A COUNTRY ALBUM, was the Independent Author Network's 2017 YA Book of the Year.

My life is like a prison.

I may be one of the world’s biggest popstars, but I live no fairy tale.

Everything I do is controlled by my manager. It’s the only way I don’t hurt anyone again.
The only way to be free.

Until I meet him.
Sandy Thorne.
He comes into my life full of color, passion and snark, and despite irritating me to no end, he makes me believe in happy ever afters.

But can I trust myself? Can I trust that I won’t hurt him?

And what does it really mean to be free and happy?

Caution: Contains an oppressed popstar, a sassy color-blind stylist, a Christmas concert ball, and the color pink. So much pink!

Hair & Heart is part of the MM Fairy Tale Romance series. All books are completely standalone and are modern retellings of classic fairy tales with a gay romance twist.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Hair and Heart is a modern retelling of Rapunzel. This Rhys Everly book captured my attention immediately with a rock star with a tough past.

Ohhh...I just love this story. Making the trapped character a famous rock star works for me on multiple levels. It's great because it's unfortunately all too realistic to have a controlling manager. As well, it's over the top fun the way Val is controlled. It's seriously crazy, yet perfectly fitting of the Rapunzel theme.

Val is perfectly lovable, though he's certainly misunderstood at the beginning. I love the way Sandy enters his life and helps save him. Everything about Sandy is wonderful!

And, omg, the pink hair and the song. I couldn't have loved this more.

Their story includes a crazy ass cat who adds immensely to the story. There's also some strong secondary characters who are great and help out when necessary.

The writing is fabulous, as it's sharp, witty, and humorous. The author excels in combining the fun with the serious. It's truly impressive.

Hair and Heart is a fun new take on a classic fairytale. Rhys Everly provides a perfect escape with this one. Just read it and enjoy!

Midnight Ash by Ana Ashley

If I didn't know better, I'd think my life is a fairytale.

Orphan? Check.
Evil stepmom? Check.
The only problem with my theory is the lack of a dashing prince coming to my rescue.

That is until Xander comes along. He’s charming, gorgeous, and caring. With him my life doesn’t feel like a neverending list of chores.

After my stepmother does the unthinkable, my only hope is winning a publishing competition. But when I find who Xander really is, even that becomes a lost cause.

Midnight Ash is a sweet romance with a sexy kinky twist on the side, and a cast who don’t quite behave as you’d expect.

Midnight Ash is a contemporary Cinderella retelling, and part of the MM Fairy Tale Romance series. All books are completely standalone and are modern retellings of classic fairy tales with a gay romance twist.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Midnight Ash is a sweet and tender fairytale romance by Ana Ashley. From the first time I read an Ana Ashley book, I was extremely impressed with the author's writing style. And this book is no different.

Ash and Xander star in this modern Cinderella like romance. From the start, the author throws in some differences that I love. For one, Ash loves and adores his stepsisters, which makes for a touching aspect of this tale.

Overall, it's a loosely based re-telling of the story that has a lot of heart to it. Of course we get the evil stepmom, and the tragic backstory.

But, we also get so many moments of hope and happiness. And there's some steaminess you won't want to miss if you enjoy men wearing lace. Awww...

Not only does the author excel in developing characters, Ana also excels in setting the atmosphere. The bookstore is fabulous. I have actually been in a place similar to this, so it's charm resonated with me greatly, as it oozes off the pages.

Midnight Ash is a feel-good romance. Ana Ashley will leave you happy to have met these men. It's all pure sugary sweetness!

Nobody knows that happy-go-lucky Raphie d’Oro is secretly a prince, not even his grumpy new bodyguard, Griff Thompson. But when a band of assassins strike, Raphie is forced to flee the London penthouse he’s never left in his life, and Griff has no choice but to go on the run with his gorgeously tempting client.

It’s a race against time to get Raphie home to the small European state of Campanula so he can claim the throne from his late father and call off the hit. Griff knows he has to remain professional, but he’s increasingly drawn to the beautiful Raphie and his mesmerising long hair. There are only so many beds they can share before the pull between them becomes impossible to ignore.

But they’re living in a fantasy. Raphie is going to be a king, and Griff is almost twice his age and going nowhere. Griff knows they have no future together, no matter what Raphie insists. However, Griff also knows he’ll do anything to protect Raphie from harm, and that includes not breaking his heart. Can he really do his duty and walk away, or will true love conquer all?

Hair Out of Place is a steamy, standalone MM romance novel featuring a fierce feline BFF, a lot of mouthwatering food, even more mouthwatering snuggles, a royal ball to remember, and a guaranteed HEA with absolutely no cliffhanger.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Hair Out of Place is an amazing bodyguard romance. With a political aspect thrown in, Helen Juliet had me riveted throughout this read. Damn, the author starts this one off with a bang. Literally. I was instantly hooked and couldn't get enough of this story.

Raphie and Griff's tale is action packed and danger filled. There's suspense, intrigue, and plenty of humor. And a cat named Sparrow.

It's a forbidden romance as Griff falls for the one he's protecting. Raphie's personality comes to life immediately; fun, bouncy, and refreshing. Adding to the fun, Griff has no clue what this job involves, finding out along with the reader.

Everything about this tale is fresh and quick witted. The writing is fantastic, with Raphie and Griff's journey fully coming to life; danger, action, attraction, and want. There's plenty of sexual tension between the two, and some hot sex once they act on their feelings. Their story includes an age gap with is fabulous, and plenty of political intrigue.

Raphie is a unique character from the start. He's in his 20s but has never left his apartment. Instead of being awkward and withdrawn, he's social and happy go lucky.  As a young man who has never left his apartment, this is nothing one would expect, including Griff.  I absolutely love the way Raphie's new found experiences are told, with everything from trains to ordering food being an adventure.

Further adding to the fun is the fact that Raphie is non-binary, with his hair meaning the world to him. I had tears in my eyes for the way Griff supports him.

Hair Out of Place is a fabulous mix of suspense, romance, and love.  Helen Juliet thrills and delights throughout this entire combo of fairy tale and insta love. Everything about this book works for me and I can't recommend it enough.

The Great Cock Hunt by James Cox

BLURB
Cinderelle is a cross-dresser.
Prince Charming has a shoe fetish.
And the fairy godmother can twist your wish into a nightmare.
Cin wants nothing more than to forget his life as his family’s slave for a few hours. A party at the palace seems like the thing to do. Putting on his step-sister’s clothes, he looks better than any princess there. He stumbles upon the prince’s orgy and, after all these miserable years, Cin finally finds something to live for, to fight for. Prince Henry Charming. Too bad his evil fairy godmother shows up with dwarf reinforcements.
It’s time to take off his stuffed bra and put on a sword, because everyone is hunting poor
REVIEW - 4 Stars
James Cox brings us another standalone in his A Cox Fairytale series. The Great Cock Hunt is a fun twist on the traditional Cinderella story. It is definitely not the version of the classic that you grew up reading.
Cin is trapped, living with his horrible stepmother and stepsisters. He spends each day as their slave, as well as fighting off sexual advances from one of his stepsisters.
As is typical Cinderella fashion, the Prince is having a huge party. Cin’s step-family try and thwart any effort of him attending but he prevails and when he arrives at the Palace, sans invitation, the staff assumes that he is there for the Prince’s private gathering, instead of the main party. There he finds an orgy taking place. Definitely not what he was expecting! Prince Henry Charming welcomes him to the party and Cin is instantly aroused.
What no one knows is that Cin is a man, dressed as a woman. And he’s the first “woman” to ever turn the Prince on sexually. Thus, Henry isn’t surprised when he discovers that Cin is actually a man. Prince Henry is a kind soul, he knows that people are never as they seem and he believes that Cin taking care of his family is noble. Best yet, Prince Henry has a shoe fetish and he’s been searching for the perfect cock his whole life.
When Cin’s fairy Godmother arrives, Cin runs away. But this fairy Godmother isn’t like the one you usually find in Cinderella stories. She is after Cin, for he is indebted to her for a past deal that they made. Soon he finds himself on the run, with wanted posters saying ‘Join the great cock hunt.’
I find Cin to be a fun character. He has a wonderful sense of humour despite all that he has to endure. Prince Henry is similar to the classic, determined Prince, but he is attracted to guys. I certainly love this side of him. I know I will never hear the phrase “shoe fetish” again without thinking about Cin’s idea of what a shoe fetish entails, or what a shoe fetish actually can involve.
The Great Cock Hunt is a fun, quick read with a wonderful, sexy twist on the normal Cinderella stories. I love James Cox’s writing style and the narrative of the story, finding it both intriguing and humorous. I thrilled at the pace and the twists involved. This is definitely a recommended read!
