Winter Prince (Vampire Daddies #1) by Sue Brown

Amazon Link   - Available in KU

What does an ancient Vampire do in a twenty-first century world?

Bite boys of course. But now biting is regulated, and boys offer themselves for cold hard cash.

Fear hates the laws and policies and protocols of the modern world. He loves the thrill of the chase. The edge that fear puts into the blood of the prey.

But he hasn’t met the one. His boy. The one he could nurture and would slake his hunger forever.

It’s New Year’s Eve. Maybe it’s time to put himself to rest. For Eternity.

But first it’s time for one last chase…

My Rating - 3.5 Stars!

Winter Prince is the first book in the Vampire Daddies series by Sue Brown. I never read vampire books, but I was hoping since it was Sue Brown, it wouldn't be heavy on the gore. And I was right!

Fear's a older vampire, tired of the rules forced upon his kind. Ready to give up, he's on the hunt for the one perfect feast. And then he meets Royale upon the death of Ryan.

The fun revolves around Fear's fated mate hating everything about vampires. Add in that the idea of "fated mates" is just a myth, as no one's every found one before.

What follows is a sweet tale that includes action and danger as well. It was strange that Fear allowed some things to happen, but I didn't real care, as it leads the storyline.

Winter Prince is a short, enjoyable read. I am excited to see what else Sue Brown has in store for this series.

How to Save a Human (VRC: Vampire Related Crimes, #4) by Alice Winters

River

When I meet Bentley DeGray, I’m at the lowest point in my life because no matter how much I fight, my past won’t let me escape. Bentley makes me laugh and care and love, but what does any of that mean when I’m living a lie?

Things get complicated when I find out he’s with the Vampire Related Crimes Unit, the organization looking for answers about the abductions of prominent vampires.

The same organization that stands in my way.

My time is ticking down while I’m wound up in this role I’ve been forced to play, but I know that I would be drowning without Bentley by my side.

Bentley

We’re facing something that runs so deep that we don’t know who we can trust besides each other, even within the VRC. River makes me feel like every day is worth living and enjoying—like I’m not so alone. I can’t imagine life without him. But I know that if I want to keep him by my side, I will need to do everything I can to help him so our love doesn’t get cut short before it can truly grow.

How to Save a Human contains a cat who shows her affection by not drawing (much) blood, art projects that are a little… sketchy, the most underwhelming “bull” ride ever, and vampires that may or may not be in the mob.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

How to Save a Human is another awesome read by Alice Winters. The fourth book in the VRC: Vampire Related Crimes series, it is recommended to read the series in order.

It's hard to explain the pure genius of an Alice Winters book. It's a given that the main couple will be full of banter, barbs, and snark. You will laugh often, yet you will also fall in love with the men. Each couple is absolutely lovable and there's always some danger and action in the background. I say background since it's never an angst ridden affair. The writing is always fabulous, with a fluid pace, unique characters, and an intriguing storyline. And this one is just that!

In this edition of the series, the VRC is investing some murders and trying to solve their investigation. Unfortunately for Bentley, the man he met in the coffee shop is also the one his team is hunting.

As far as the relationship is concerned, they meet in a cute way in a coffee shop which just so happens to involves some unicorn porn conversations. It's all classic Alice Winters hilarity which pulled me in immediately.

As things progress, everything is sweet under all the banter. Honestly, I continue to be in awe of the way Alice manages to create a bond between her couples while always having non stop snark. Even during sex scenes. It's an impressive skill not all authors could achieve.

This story is one with conflict, as the two being involved is definitely a conflict of interest. It's also one with a serious undertone of Bentley losing all those he cares about. His relationship with his niece is touching, and the developing relationship with River isn't going to be an easy ride. River's illness is absolutely heartbreaking, but beautifully helps the story along.

One of my favorite parts of the story is River's niece's reminder to enjoy the relationship you have with people for as long as you can have them. The good memories will far outweigh the pain of the loss in the end. I love this.

How to Save a Human is a fantastic read. This Alice Winters story is pure delight. I enjoyed every moment with these men and look forward to re-reading this one often.

How to Vex a Vampire (VRC: Vampire Related Crimes #1) by Alice Winters

Amazon Link - Available in KU

Blurb

Finn
Getting into the vampire-only detective unit was the easy part; what’s going to be more difficult is dealing with my new partner, an ancient vampire who keeps threatening to eat me. The unit has never had a human in it, and Marcus—or as I like to call him, Fangy McFangface—would really prefer to keep it that way. He’s grumpy, short-tempered, and broody, but I have a way with words and I know he’s starting to like me, even if he swears he’s not. But what he doesn’t know is that I didn’t join the unit because I was tired of being a homicide detective, I joined because there is someone after me. They’ve already taken enough from me and I’m afraid they’re going to take all of me if I don’t find someone to help. That’s all Marcus was supposed to be, but now, he’s so much more and I can’t imagine my life without him.

Marcus
The moment the pesky human walked through that door, I knew I had to get rid of him. He’s charming and almost everyone else instantly loves him, but he doesn’t understand how risky it is being part of this unit as a human. But as I get to know the stubborn man, I learn that perhaps he’s not as naive as I once thought. And maybe he’s what I needed to realize there is more to life than just work and my dog. A group arises who is threatening to disrupt the alliance between the humans and the vampires, but Finn is the one who shows me how strong that alliance can be and reminds me why it’s worth protecting. When threats hit closer to home, I realize I would do anything for Finn because he’s brought so much joy to my life—and because he’s mine.

This 105k word book contains: A creative use for undergarments, unintentional splits, a wolfhound who just wants to be a part of things, a vertically challenged human who still manages to wrap every vampire he meets around his little finger, the best date ever, possessiveness, really awkward dancing, some workplace revenge, and just a bite or two. Or three.

Review
My Rating - 5 Stars!

Ahhhh, How to Vex a Vampire is everything I was hoping it would be. I never read vampire stories, but with Alice Winters as the author, I couldn't pass this one up.

The author's world building is phenomenal, as it's unique, well described, and a whole lot of fun. The mystery is well done, keeping me intrigued throughout. But more than anything, it's the depth of these men that I love. They ooze self-doubt and lack of self esteem. It wonderfully explores the importance of loving oneself before one can love anyone else.

Finn and Marcus are hysterical together. Not only is their relationship intriguing, their innuendoes, banter, and one liners make them so damn loveable. The short jokes and age jokes are hysterical. In addition to the fun, it's also a wonderful romance between two complete opposites.

Just a sneak peak at the banter. "I give up. Interacting with him is like telling a squeaky door to stop squeaking."

Seriously, how can anyone make taking off a bra so perfectly humorous? Basically, no one does humor as well as Alice does! This book has short jokes, vampire jokes, and human jokes. I love it all.

How to Vex a Vampire is a fantastic read. I don't want to post any spoilers, but this Alice Winters' read is full of suspense, chemistry, and a whole lot of penis jokes. Read it!
