Smoke Signals by B. Harmony

Smoke Signals (1)

A Perspective Series, Book 3

Dylan

As the new neighbor of the Burning Hills Fire Department, I try to win over the hunky firefighters with my tasty baking skills. Instead, I got the surprise of a lifetime.

I may be obsessed with the happily ever afters between the pages of my favorite books, too bad they never prepared me for what comes after a one-night stand.

Even I’m not dumb enough to fall for someone who calls me “kid”, right?

Shane

As Fire Captain of Burning Hills Fire Department, I try to keep my flame from burning too bright.

He was supposed to be a one-night stand, not the new resident of the little blue house on the corner.

He too young, too out, and too risky.

There’s absolutely no way I’m jeopardizing the life I built for myself on some kid.

Smoke Signals is the third and final book in the Perspective Series. A dual POV, age-gap MM romance with out-for-you themes, an avid romance reader, a sexy as sin Fire Captain, and the return of some of your favorite meddlesome characters. Although this series may be read as a standalone, the series is best enjoyed in order.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Smoke Signals is a wonderful romance by B Harmony. Part of the Perspective series, it's easily read as a standalone.

This one starts with a discreet hook up for Dylan and Shane, only for the men to end up in close proximity later on. Cue the fun!

Shane's a closeted fire chief who's shocked and terrified when his hot hookup shows up in town.

I love the awkwardness and embarrassment that follows. Poor Shane is closeted and doesn't want anyone knowing about his night with Dylan. You have to feel for the man. He's not being mean to be a jerk, but to cover his own ass.

But, as one would expect, things start to get easier for the two and eventually the walls are dropped. I love the way everything develops for the two. They make a great couple, with a fantastic dynamic.

This is a story with a closeted fireman trying to deal with his sexuality. It's a story with plenty of sweetness and heart. There's a great combination of steamy and swoony moments as well.

I love the author's writing style. Written in alternating first person pov, the men fully come alive, with every moment and emotion fully felt by the reader.

As usual, the author infuses plenty of humor throughout. Oh my god, the sugar high had me in stitches. So funny. I am still giggling about Wednesday and every moment of his in the book. He is pure entertainment.

Smoke Signals is a fabulous OFY romance. I adore every moment of this B Harmony tale. These men are sweet and sexy, and well worth a read.

SS Teaser 2

“I know damn well you don’t think you’re sneaking in here like that without an explanation.” The sidelight in our hotel room flicks on, and I’m greeted with the sight of a shirtless Ev and his Teddy Bear, aka boyfriend Damon, sitting against the headboard. They’re both staring at me with a stern expression I thought only my parents had perfected.

Giving up the pretense of slipping in silently and unnoticed, I drop my shoes just inside the closed door and walk over to the empty bed.

“Sorry, Daddy.” I roll my eyes and toss my keys and wallet onto the side table.

“And where have you been, young man?” Damon joins in.

“Oh, for the love of Peter Pan, leave me alone. I’m a grown adult. I don't need to answer to either of you.” I strip off my jeans and shirt, leaving behind my briefs, and crawl under the cool sheets. “The least you could do is say thank you for giving you space and privacy to do things I don’t need to know the details of.”

“Umm…no.” Ev shakes his head. “I can smell the cum on you. Spill.”

Damon quirks his head to the side and sniffs the air. “Is that what that is?”

They’re ridiculous. I know darn well they don’t smell anything. I cleaned up after messing around with Not-Gideon, thank you very much. At the most, they smell the cheap scent of the bar soap from the motel shower.

My phone finally pinged with the all-clear sometime around midnight, but I didn’t leave the bed until closer to two-ish. Who can blame me? Fake name or not, Not-Gideon could throw it down. I’m shocked neither Damon nor Ev commented on my penguin walk across the floor. Three rounds with the hulk of a man—something I’ll definitely be feeling for a few days—left me with a bit of a waddle.

“Holy shit. Do you see that smile?” Ev points out.

“Oh, leave me alone.”

“Nope. I gotta live vicariously through you. I’m all cuffed up these days.”

A Perspective Series, Book 1

Will we have our own love song, or will this just be another broken-hearted ballad?

 Chance

When I read the roommate wanted ad, I thought my sister was encouraging me to live with an insane person.

Turns out, he isn’t insane, just sexy and one-hundred percent my type. Living with him will be the ultimate test of my self-control.

When the combination of our love of music and my overwhelming need to take care of him meets jealousy, sparks fly.

His heart may be damaged, but nothing is beyond repair.

 Tyler

A sunny personality and punny t-shirts are nothing more than a shield protecting my heart, damaged by those who were meant to love me most.

Risking the tattered shreds on my new—straight—roommate is the last thing I should do.

Developing a friendship is one thing, falling in love is another.

When it turns out my roommate is not as straight as I once thought, I have to decide if this is one playlist I should listen to.

The B-Side is Book 1 in the Perspective series. A dual POV, low-angst, roommates-to-lovers, MM Romance novel. Featuring punny t-shirts for every occasion, killer playlists, meddling family and friends, and a happily-ever-after. Although this may be read as a standalone, the series is best enjoyed in order.

Paper Airplanes (1)

A Perspective Series, Book 2

Damon

The silver screen has always been my gold standard of romance.

But sometimes you just need a change of pace.

Surely even I can handle a few months of casual fun without falling head over heels.

I’ll never know unless I push the envelope.

Rhett

A rolling stone gathers no moss.

A quick job closer to home and then I’m out of here.

I have no intention of letting anyone clip my wings.

With the equivalent of Fort Knox around my heart, not even a sexy bear can tear it down, right?

Paper Airplanes is book 2 in the Perspective Series. A dual POV story featuring two men who most definitely do not understand how to navigate casual relationships, schoolyard forms of communication, meddling friends and family, a golden ball of fluff with a completely legitimate name, and a guaranteed HEA. Although this may be read as a standalone, the series is best enjoyed in order.

Sparks of passion ignite between the lord of the manor and the hot, new firefighter. But when Ben’s home goes up in flames, will Dale be in time to save his life?

Dale runs from the big city to a rural fire station to nurse his broken heart. But he immediately incurs the wrath of the handsome lord of the manor when he knocks over the village maypole.

Ben is used to people avoiding him. But the sexy, new firefighter is not like everyone else. Everywhere Ben goes; Dale is there too, and Ben can’t ignore the magnetism between them.

Will Ben ever forgive Dale for knocking over the maypole? Will Dale wait for Ben to disentangle himself from a relationship he was forced into? Will the villagers, the fire fighters, and the staff at the manor house, stop interfering in their relationship?

So many questions and no time to answer them, as an arsonist’s crimes are escalating, and Dale is worried that Ben could be his next target.

My Rating - 4 Stars!

The Fireman's Pole is a delightful opposites attract romance by Sue Brown. Part suspense, part romance, I couldn't put this one down. From the first sentence, the tone and writing style had me hooked.

The combination of small town, opposites attract, and an arson investigation is well done.

Ben's nobility, a  Lord who owns the whole town. When the tale starts, he has a girlfriend who we know early on is not one he loves. The poor man is closeted and fighting it every day. Upon meeting Dale, he finds himself facing a man worth coming out for.

This is the tale of Dale who refuses to be forced into the closet and the Ben who's never been out. This is a story with a destroyed May Pole, town traditions, and a smart "girlfriend." It's also a tale with a ruthless businessman.

The Sabrina part of this story definitely surprised me. I expected it go a completely different way, and was pleasantly surprised with the way it carried out.

The arson part of the story is a good light mystery, as well as something for the men to work on together.

This book was exactly what I needed when it feel into my hands. It's nothing too deep, something a little bit different, and an easy read. We all need stories like this at times.

The Fireman's Pole is a great read. Sue Brown completely surprised me with this little gem. From start to finish, I feel in love with these men and their story. I highly recommend it when you're in the mood for a sweet, fluffy romance.

Blowing Smoke: A Small-town Firefighter Gay Romance (The Wilds Book 2) by Ashton Cade

Sometimes even the strongest men need saving.

Hunter:

As an Alaskan smokejumper, I'm used to palling around with tough guys. My best friend Jared just became Chief of Police here in Gateway, and the whole town relies on him to keep them safe. I've realized I want to serve and protect him in an entirely different way. When he's forced to vacate his sick apartment building and takes the apartment on my property, we get close. When he's out taking care of Gateway's people in a snowstorm and his patrol car gets snowed under and he is struck with pneumonia, we get closer. I'm the one to come to his rescue.

Sure, he's the one who is unconscious, but Jared has become my fever-dream.

Can reality compare to the fantasy I have of us together, forever?

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Blowing Smoke is a riveting friends to lovers romance. The second book in The Wilds series, this Ashton Cade book is easily read as a standalone.

I love friends to lovers romance, and this one is spectacular, as Jared and Hunter take tentative steps towards facing their new found feelings.

The two have been friends with benefits for years. I enjoy the storyline that brings them closer. I definitely got annoyed with Jared's stubbornness and wanted to give him a quick kick in the ass though.

Their tale includes a health issue, job issues, and family obligations. The men have a strong connection and I have no doubt they belong together.

I definitely enjoy their budding relationship, but then, damn, when the action/danger hits, I was pulled into the scene with Jared. I felt every single thought. I felt every second of the cold. And the heat. I saw every thing he saw. Basically, the writing is all consuming at that point, completely impressing me.

Blowing Smoke is a nice romance that sucked me in from the start. I enjoyed this Ashton Cade read and am glad to have discovered it.

Feel the Fire (Hotshots #3) by Annabeth Albert

The third installment of Annabeth Albert’s Hotshots series—the emotions and intensity of Chicago Fire with the raw, natural elements of Man vs. Wild .

When their career paths bring two high school sweethearts together again, the forest isn’t the only thing ablaze…

Fire behavior specialist Luis Riviera goes where his job takes him. But when he’s assigned to an arson investigation in Central Oregon—the place he left his broken heart twenty years ago—he’s afraid of being burned all over again.

Tucker Ryland had planned to join his first love, Luis, in LA after high school graduation, but life got in the way. Now a fire management expert and a divorced father of teen twins, Tucker’s thrown for a loop when he finds himself working side by side with his Luis, now all grown up and more intriguing than ever.

Though consumed by a grueling fire season and family responsibilities, the two men discover their bond has never truly broken. Tentative kisses turn to passionate nights. But smoking sheets aside, old hurts and new truths stand in the way of this time being the start of forever.

Danger lurks everywhere for Central Oregon’s fire crews, but the biggest risk of all might be losing their hearts. Don’t miss the Hotshots series from Annabeth Albert: High Heat, Burn Zone and Feel the Fire.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Feel The Fire is a beautiful second chance romance. This is the third book in Annabeth Albert's Hotshots series.

Tucker and Luis have a past full of pain and regret. They are two former boyfriends who are now working together. Their relationship is full of want, need, and desire. It's full of pain, heartache, and longing.

They are two men who can't easily be together long term, as life always continues to give them obstacles. Their journey is one of accepting the past and realizing that plans can change. It's about accepting the circumstances and forgiveness.

It's a riveting story, full of fires and a search for an arsonist. There's some action and danger in addition to the budding romance, to which the men bring plenty of heat themselves. The title is a delightful play on words, as only the author knows if the "fire" in the title is about the forest fires or the heat between the men.

Written in alternating 3rd person pov, this book is riveting from the start. The authors include some wonderful secondary characters, including Tucker's children. I love his sons. Their addition to the storyline adds a whole lot of fun. The family dynamics with his ex wife is also fantastic.

Feel The Fire is an enticing tale of second chances. Annabeth Albert brings a slew of emotion to this story as the men know what they're developing is short term.  I love these men and this series.

Draw (Overtime #3) by V.L. Locey

They say first loves never last. Jackie Blue Kalinski was about to show them—whoever they are—that the word never is not in his vocabulary.

From the time Jack Kalinski was a preschooler he had a good sense of who he was and where he wanted to go in life. His childhood was spent drawing beautiful dresses for pretty people, male and female alike. Growing up with two dads who played hockey wasn’t exactly conducive to late night talks about tulle or tailor’s chalk, but he never let that stop his dreams of becoming a fashion designer or expressing the genderqueer heart that beat in his chest. His family’s love and support helped him through some painful losses that shaped him into the strong, vivacious, and charismatic college student he is today. Life hasn’t been a smooth ride, but Jack has persevered and is about to take the fashion world by storm.

Little does he suspect that his tidy life is about to be scorched by a chance meeting with one of the men playing hockey on the gay team his father coaches. Martin McKittrick not only catches Jack’s eye, but the much older man wins his heart. The passionate affair with the captain of the Marine Unit of the BFD burns red hot until the new couple run into a few snags that might dampen the inferno: Jack’s ascent into the fashion world, Martin’s job and the inherent dangers that come with it, and the fact that the well-kept secret romance has just been exposed to the world in a rather big way.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Draw, the third book in VL Locey's Overtime series is awesome!

Omg - Jackie Blue!!! If you haven't met Jackie Blue, that is your loss. They are a fabulous character, who I fell in love with from their first appearance in Vic and Dan's world. What an amazing surprise to get Jackie's love story.

Jackie's now in college, in design school. This is the story of Jackie Blue falling for a man more than twice their age. Oh man, the chemistry between Jackie and Martin is amazing. They are hot together, as well as complementing one another wonderfully.

Jackie's a non-binary, femme college kid. And Martin's a big touch fireman. Ohhh...so good. And it's a May to December romance which just makes it even better! Jackie is unapologetically bold and beautiful, never wanting to tone down their clothes or behavior. I love everything about them.

This is a tale of family issues, as Dan and Vic struggle to accept Jackie with an older man. There's hockey, as Martin plays for a rec team and Jackie's sister BJ plays hockey. Of course, I adore the conflict between player and coach, with the added stress of dating the coach's child being fabulous.

Their family unit is close and spend a lot of time together. Seeing them struggle is heartbreaking. I have loved them throughout their books, and this was tough to read. This story mad me laugh, smile, and cry. I fell in love with Jackie a long time ago and continue to love this person with all my heart.

Draw is a must read for any fan of VL Locey. This contribution to the Overtime series will leave you delighted. Oh, omg, the end! Cue the happy tears! It couldn't have ended any better!

Annabeth Albert’s Hotshots series continues—the emotions and intensity of Chicago Fire with the raw, natural elements of Man vs. Wild.

Smoke jumping is Garrick Nelson’s life. Nothing, not severe injuries nor the brutal physical therapy that follows, is going to stop him from getting back with his crew. But when a lost dog shows up on his front porch, he can’t turn her away, and he can’t take care of her on his own. Thankfully, help comes in the form of his new sexy, dog-loving neighbor. As they work together, trying to re-home their little princess, Garrick can’t resist his growing attraction for the other man, even though he knows this guy isn’t the staying type.

Rain Fisher doesn’t take anything too seriously. He dances through life, one adventure at a time, never settling in one place for too long. When his hot, conveniently buff, neighbor shows up on his doorstep, dog in tow, Rain’s determined to not just save the adorable puppy, but her reluctant owner as well. He never expects their flirtation might tempt him into stay put once and for all...

Danger lurks everywhere for Central Oregon’s fire crews, but the biggest risk of all might be losing their hearts. Don’t miss the Hotshots series from Annabeth Albert: Burn Zone, High Heat, and Feel the Fire.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Annabeth Albert's High Heat is a great age gap romance. The second book in the Hotshots series, this story picks up after Garrick's injury in Burn Zone.

The emotions are high in this story where a stray dog brings two strangers together.

Garrick immediately grabbed my heart, with his injury causing him tremendous emotional turmoil. He has been fighting to get back to his smoke jumping career, but a lot stands in his way. The author fully brings to light the mobility issues and accessibility issues involved with one being mostly wheelchair bound. Garrick's rage and pain at not being fully mobile is gut wrenching at times.

And then there's Rain, who's free spirit, hippy personality is the perfect compliment to Garrick right now. Rain's gender fluidity is well written and explored. He's a breathe of fresh air. He likes pink, still loves to be like a princess, but he's drawn to a rugged man. It's a fun character trait and is well carried out. And it ends up that he's incredibly supportive, the perfect one to help heal Garrick's fear of being too needy.

This is story with frustration and pain. It's a story of optimism versus reality and all the baggage that comes with it. The author perfectly nails this issue and I couldn't have been more impressed. Acceptance of one's loss is a large part of this story. It's written with care and compassion and I loved it all.

And then there's Garrick and Rain together. OMG! To say they are hot together is an understatement. There's plenty of flirting and attraction. The author explores dealing with the differences of sex with physical limitations, and then there's some lace. Oh how I love Rain's love of all things soft and sexy. It's delicious fun.

High Heat is a story with plenty of emotions, lots of heat (or high heat as the title would tell you), and a whole lot of character growth. This Annabeth Albert book is wonderful and I definitely recommend it the next time you're in the mood for an opposites attract romance.

Annabeth Albert grew up sneaking romance novels under the bed covers. Now, she devours all subgenres of romance out in the open—no flashlights required! When she’s not adding to her keeper shelf, she’s a multi-published Pacific Northwest romance writer.

Emotionally complex, sexy, and funny stories are her favorites both to read and to write. Annabeth loves finding happy endings for a variety of pairings and is a passionate gay rights supporter.  In between searching out dark heroes to redeem, she works a rewarding day job and wrangles two children.

Two Straights Too Many (Heroes of Fort Dale #1) by Romeo Alexander

Elias: Moving to Daleport City to work at the local fire station was going to be hard. Then I met Cade. Turns out, I’d met my new best friend, and for two years, he’s been by my side through everything. The guys tease us about how close we are, but we’re straight, just good friends. Then Cade and I found ourselves having to pretend to date, pretend to be attracted to one another…And then we stopped pretending.

Cade: As if having a female stalker and a harpy for a mother wasn’t enough, I’m also in a fake relationship with my best friend? Then we ended up kissing…and more. Elias is straight, I’m straight, and we suddenly want to do not so straight things. That’s pretty much where I am now. So tell me… what am I supposed to do?

Elias and Cade, two straight firefighters and best friends, find themselves in a fake relationship that leads both men into territory they’ve never ventured into before. Can their friendship survive? Will they ever want to go back?

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Two Straights Too Many is an entertaining romance by Romeo Alexander. The first book in the Heroes of Fort Dale series, I am left pleased and looking forward to what comes next.

This is the story of Elias and Cade, two friends who are roommates and co-workers. With a sudden fake boyfriend comment, cue the fun.

What follows is a tale with a lot of pretending that leads to some hot sexual exploration. It's the story of two firefighters, with some manipulation and threats, as well as a controlling mother and a little surprise at the end.

Overall, it's a story of two straight friends and their sexual realization. I enjoy the fact that they treated one another as platonic boyfriends for quite a while. This new pretend dating aspect of their relationship just opened their eyes for them.

These two are fun and hot. The writing is just my style, easy to follow, flowing well with excellent dialogue. There are a couple of things that seemed forced, but I didn't really care. I was enjoying it too much to get picky.

Too Straights Too Many is a fun, delightful friends to lovers romance. Be sure to check out this Romeo Alexander read the next time you want a fluffy roommates romance.
