Tricky Tracks

Holeshot Series, Book 5

Recovery has never been so complicated.

It’s difficult enough to recover from a potentially career ending wreck, but Cole has to do it in front of a camera. Add in that the sexy videographer, Nix, has more than Cole’s tires spinning and it’s more than problematic. Facing the truth and redeeming himself for his past actions is trickier than making a good comeback for a team that doesn’t want him.

Nix Braumere is making a great career out of filming sports stars, and his friend, Jason, has him working on a Supercross documentary focusing on injuries, particularly, Cole Lindt’s. Making the hot racer the star of his show wasn’t supposed to wreck his heart. But Cole’s grouchy front obviously hides a world of pain that Nix wants to ease.

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Tricky Tracks is the fifth book in the Holeshot series. This Lynn Michaels tale is definitely best read as part of the series.

Cole's having problems with injuries, his career, and his father. And his love life.

Last time we saw Cole, he was upset that the man he loved choose someone else. He definitely wasn't a likable character, but he easily becomes lovable in this one. Yay for a good redemption story!

Cole and his new videographer Nix start to really hit things off, both physically and emotionally. And this helps Cole deal with everything. I really enjoy the way Cole changes with Nix's help.

Of course there's plenty going on in this one, including trying to deal with some long distance issues. I didn't love all the Tyler stuff, but it's definitely fitting with what we previously knew about Cole.

Tricky Tracks is a good addition to this series. This whole Lynn Michaels series is full of action and romance. I highly suggest it when you're in the mood for some hot motocross guys.

Meet Cute or not so cute…

“Excuse me.” A young man pushed passed us. “I need to check on Mr. Lindt. I’ll be with you after that.” He walked over and examined the machinery. “Okay, Cole. Let’s walk it off.” He pushed buttons on the treadmill and slowed Cole to an easier pace.

“Hi, I’m Jason Gibbons. We’ll shake later. This is my partner and videographer, Nikolai Braumere.”

“Call me Nix.” I never used my full name and had no idea why Jason would throw it out there now. He was one of only a few people who even knew it.

Cole turned his head to look at us. He rolled his eyes. His spectacular eyes. They were precious gems to Jason’s worthless rocks, blue and green with flecks of gold making them seem exotic. When he turned away without a word, I only wanted him to look back. Hell, I couldn’t even really see the rest of his face with the mask on, and I wanted more.

The trainer turned to us, though, and he didn’t look happy. “You’ll have to wait until he’s finished.”

“No worries.” Jason held his hands up in front of him to placate the guy, but he looked at Cole. “Just wanted to drop in and let you know we were here. Vick is meeting with us in a few to go over everything regarding you and this project, then we’ll be your shadows.” He faced the trainer and held up his hands as if protesting. “Not interfering or getting in the way.”

Cole glanced back, taking us in, then graced us with another eye roll. Then he pushed some buttons on the treadmill, jumped on the side boards and pulled the mask off. “I’m done.” He started handing the equipment to the trainer and faced us while he pulled the electrodes off his chest. The trainer set the mask down and started popping off the ones on his back. “I’m not thrilled about this, just so y’all know. I don’t particularly want everyone seeing my training and progress. I’m going along with it because Vick says I have to. So don’t get in my face with your cameras.”

His attitude was something else I hadn’t been expecting. “What about questions?”

“What do you mean?” He turned those amazing eyes on me again. They gleamed against the sheen of sweat covering his face. His hair was a blondish-brown, darker where it was wet. I liked a sweaty Cole, and I felt my energy spike.

“Questions? Will you be willing to answer questions?”

“Like an interview?”

Jason scoffed. “More like questions as we go. If we see or hear something we don’t understand, or want more information about, we’ll ask.”

Those eyes rolled again. “I guess it depends on what you’re asking.”

“We’re not digging for trade secrets, Cole. Can I call you Cole?” Jason asked.

“We’re going to be stuck together for a while, so I guess you better. Now, I have work to do.” He pointed to the trainer who was now openly scowling at us.

“Right. We have stuff to do, too. We’ll see you at the meeting.” I needed to be either out of his cosmic glare or stripping those workout shorts off him. I turned Jason back toward the door.

“Well, he’s a regular bowl of sunshine.”

I snorted at that. “I thought he agreed to this. That sounded like he was coerced.”

Jason shrugged. “There’s obviously something else going on. I knew he was a cold dude, but I didn’t expect that.”

“That? What? You mean his open hostility?”

“Are you talking about Cole or his trainer?” Jason laughed. He wasn’t wrong. They were made for each other, it seemed.

My Rating - 3.5 Stars!

Volley is a simple sports romance by Lynn Michaels.

I adore Ace and Robby, but there wasn't much to this story. I would have loved MORE of them. There's a little jealousy, a little competition, and some hot sex.

I kept expecting something more to happen, but it never does. I think I would have preferred reading more about the sexual tension that lead to their relationship and then some more tension during this stage of their relationship. Instead, the book is a sweet low-angst sports romance. It's not a bad book, it just isn't what I was expecting.

Overall, Volley is perfect for anyone looking for a fluffy sports romance. This Lynn Michaels tale is a short and sweet read.

BLOG TOUR, GIVEAWAY & REVIEW - Improbable Bonds Series by Lily Michaels

Unlikely Reunion
Improbable Bonds Book 1
by Lily Michaels
Genre: Contemporary M/M Romance

FROM POPULAR ROMANCE AUTHOR LILY MICHAELS

Book one in the Improbable Bonds series

Erik's adolescent crush becomes a very adult relationship at his high school reunion.

Seeing his former bullies starstruck is definitely on Erik Stevens' agenda for his high school reunion. Hooking up with someone is not. He has resolved to end the meaningless sex that has dotted his life, even though it fed his need to dominate. Now he is looking for a man—a submissive—for a relationship that will last forever.

But Erik hasn't counted on Kyle.

For ten years, Kyle Lincke has cursed his repressed sexuality that, in high school, kept him from acting on his crush...Erik. As soon as he receives Erik's RSVP’d ‘yes' to the reunion, Kyle begins working up the courage to finally act on his desires, difficult for him to do following a disastrous break-up.

But six weeks of exploration into BDSM and small steps toward a deeper relationship are thrown into jeopardy when Erik's fame threatens their bond—and Kyle's fragile psyche.

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Unlikely Reunion is a sweet second chance romance by Lily Michaels.

A high school reunion leads to love for two men who crushed on one another years ago. Erik's a movie star, but Kyle still remembers him for the impressive man he was when he was younger.

Erik and Kyle have intense chemistry and a whirlwind romance. Their relationship is low angst with some good heat. It's a story of light BDSM and many first experiences for Kyle. I enjoy the way it's written, with BDSM being a big part of their lives, but never taking over the rest of the tale.

The author includes some Hollywood secrets and aspects that add greatly to the story, despite them never being in Hollywood together.

The writing is great, with two loveable characters and a fun storyline. Written in first person pov, the characters are fully brought to life, with their emotions jumping off the pages at times. The author kept me gripped throughout as these two men work on being a couple. Their journey has it's share of angst to keep things interesting as well.

Unlikely Reunion is an enjoyable read. I am thrilled to have discovered this Lily Michaels series. It's just a fun read.

I made circles on the back of his hand with my thumb and focused on the point of our physical connection while trying to find the words to show that our mental and emotional bond was far more precious to me. For the first time since I’d discovered the stronger side of me that was reserved for my personal relationships, I was unable to maintain eye contact with my partner.

“You knew who I was before…before I moved here, before the personal trainers and the skin care experts and the fashion designers laid their hands on me.” I found his searching gaze. “And you’re the only one to really see both sides of me, baby. So don’t think you don’t belong here just because of what this place looks like. You belong wherever I am.”

An adorable flush colored his cheeks. He opened and closed his mouth a few times, but no words came out. With zero warning, he stretched across the console of my sports car and devoured my lips. He darted his tongue inside, stroking, teasing and taunting my own. His grip on my neck was desperate and firm.

When we finally parted, our heavy, labored breathing had left a dusting of fog across the windshield. He ducked his head and offered a cheeky grin. “Didn’t you say something about getting off?”

A low growl rumbled the back of my throat. I pointed at the red door. “Go inside, up the stairs and turn left. The very last room is the master suite. Take everything off, lie on the bed and wait for me.”

He pushed out his lower lip. “Aren’t you coming in?”

I readjusted the evidence of my arousal. “I’ll be there in a few minutes. Otherwise, this is going to be over far sooner than either of us wants.”

Unlikely Match
Improbable Bonds Book 2

FROM POPULAR AUTHOR OF GAY ROMANCE, LILY MICHAELS

Book two in the Improbable Bonds series

Almost two decades of boxing couldn’t prepare Clayton for the biggest fight of his life—one that put love on the line.

Boxing had been Clayton James’ life for nearly twenty years, but the threat of a serious injury if he continued to fight forced him into retirement. Refusing to be down for the count, he carried his love of the sport into a new career as the owner of a gym. But low membership and a tightly stretched bank account mean he’s faced with closing his doors—or taking one more match to save his business.

The bullying that Tyler Kirk thought he’d left behind in high school not only managed to carry over into college but also seemed worse. Being older than the average student because of the years he’d taken off to rehabilitate his sister after the accident that robbed them of their parents didn’t lessen the attacks he faced. His chance to find peace was in the meaty hands of the finely chiseled and sexy-as-hell owner of the gym he hoped could give him self-defense training.

Neither man expected the adversarial start of their relationship to melt into something that quenched Clayton’s long-neglected need and one that Tyler wasn’t even aware he had. Nor could they prepare for the intense sexual chemistry that flowed between them to quickly morph their training schedule into a hot and heavy hookup routine.

But the risks of Clayton’s final match are amplified when it’s no longer simply his health and well-being on the line but also the love of a good man and the promise of family.

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Unlikely Match is a nice BDSM light romance by Lily Michaels. The second book in the Improbably Bonds series, it is read as a standalone.

This is a story of confidence and trust. Tyler's a lovable character. From the start, my heart hurt for him. He's a strong man, who's raising his sister after his parents died. His life is a struggle but he wants to take care of himself. Upon joining a gym to learn to protect himself from bullies, he meets his Clayton.

Clayton's an ex boxer who is now a gym trainer. The two take an instant liking to one another, but their story is full of assumptions. It also includes some sweet flirting and some hot cute ons.

"You wanna kiss it and make it better?"

I adore Lolli, Tyler's sister, and the way Tyler deals with her.

This is a short, quick story with an emotional connection. I definitely enjoy the way these two men navigate to each other, and end up complimenting one another perfectly. Their sex lives are just the icing on the cake. If you enjoy smaller, younger doms, this book is for you.

Told in 1st person pov, both characters fully come alive in this tale. They are complex men who find what they each need in the other. Their sexual needs are well developed and make for a wonderful tale.

Unlikely Match is just that; a story of two men who no one would ever expect to be together. Lily Michaels definitely entertains in this romance between opposites.

Steam from Tyler’s shower still blanketed the room in a dense fog, but the absence of running water made me confident that he’d finished and moved to the changing area to dry off and get dressed. I stripped down, leaving a trail of clothes behind me as I walked into the communal shower with purpose.

Until I found myself standing in a pocket of clarity, my gaze held captive by startled emerald orbs. My mouth turned into the Sahara and my tongue clung to the roof of my mouth.

He was a kid. His paperwork confirmed that he was only twenty-five, a decade younger than me, but the body standing before me with rivulets of water running down it belied the scrawny boy who was always swallowed up by his clothes. Tyler sported lean muscles on his arms and a hint of baby abs forming on his midsection that had been concealed from view until he was nude.

The first day, when he’d taken his shirt off to prove his assertion that he wasn’t a total shrimp, I had been speechless. But I was not prepared to experience a fully naked Tyler.

My breath stuttered on an exhale and my heart stopped. His abdomen was marred by bruises fading from the purple they had been the day after the attack into the yellow and green that signaled the healing of his otherwise-perfect flesh. Without thinking of the consequences, I reached my hand out, traced along an ugly imprint and winced. I’d had far worse myself after going rounds with various opponents—hell, I’d had worse after sparring with Joey—but seeing the marks on Tyler’s creamy skin did something to me, something I wasn’t prepared to think about.

“It’s okay.” His whispered reassurance cut through the thick air and I brought my gaze back up to meet his. He was battered and bruised and trying to comfort me? Someone who barely knew him?

I shook my head, my hand not leaving his side, and I took one step closer. “No. It really isn’t.”

Tyler smirked and arched a single brow. I barely bit back the groan that the innocuous action induced. “You wanna kiss it and make it better?”

My Rating - 3.5 Stars!

Lynn Michaels' Love Potion No. 69 is a sweet, short read. With just 40 pages, there's not much to it, but it has some fun magical elements and an insta love feel. It's perfect when you're in the mood or something short and sweet. It's overpriced at $1.99, but is a great quick pick from Kindle Unlimited.

REVIEW - Love on the Line Series by Lynn Michaels

Paint on the Canvas
Love on the Line Book 2
by Lynn Michaels
Genre: M/M Contemporary Romance

A life-changing sacrifice for art and love.

Daltrey Boxbaum is an artist, a lover, an addict, and more. Through the years, he finds and loses love, fights addiction, and defines himself in new ways.

Martin Hannan was the love of Daltrey’s life, the son of a world-famous Silicon Valley developer and tycoon. Left behind to fight his own battles, Martin’s reappearance in Daltrey’s life turns the stable world he’s worked so hard for inside out.

Note: Love on the Line books can be read in any order, but best fits the numbered order.

Review
My Rating - 5 Stars!

Lynn Michaels' second book in the Love on the Line series, Paint on the Canvas, is a fabulous follow up to Book One, Lines on the Mirror.

The series is the story of Marty and his ex boyfriend Daltrey. In book one, we see what happens to Marty. This second book follows Daltrey, from his past to the events in Marty's book, and then beyond.

Damn. Personally, I find this book makes the first one even better. Both men have had addiction issues. And both men have to hit rock bottom to find a reason to live again. The author does a fantastic job of illustrating the easy ways one can fall into addiction through casual acquaintances. She also explores that people needs to find their own way to recovery and in general.

It's all riveting, as well as completely depressing. These boys live hard lives and have many demons to fight.

I can't recommend Paint on the Canvas enough. Definitely read this series when you're in the mood for a serious story of hitting rock bottom and then recovering and finding a beautiful happily ever after. And, holy hell, the ending is phenomenal! I love, love, love it, tears of beauty and all.

Lines on the Mirror
Love on the Line Book 1

Martin has always done everything his parents ever asked, never making waves, but never learning how to say no either. Then his new partying neighbors introduce him to a different lifestyle that pushes his limits.

The only thing keeping him grounded is getting back in touch with his first love, Daltrey, who moved across the country when they were still teenagers. Now, he's a successful artist and plays by his own rules. He wants Martin but won't compromise his morals.

When Martin lets his new friends drag him down until he hits bottom, can he ever find his way back to Daltrey and take control of his life?

Note: Love on the Line books can be read in any order.

Review
My Rating - 5 Stars!

Lynn Michael's Lines on the Mirror, the first book in the Love on the Line series, is one hell of a tough read. I actually had to re-start a couple of times, as one needs to really be in the mood for this story.

This book focuses on Martin's point of view, showing how easily he falls into a life of drugs, orgies, and hard living. He's a vulnerable young man who just wants to have friends. And what friends that end up being.

In the meanwhile, these new "friends" of his end up reuniting him with his first love, Daltrey. This is where things get going, as Daltrey doesn't want anything to do with Martin's life style.

What follows is a story of tough decisions and hitting rock bottom. Personally, I absolutely love the trouble Martin gets into, finding it impossible to put the book down. It is an amazing example of how easily things can go wrong. He's such an ass and watching him make these mistakes for no reason really annoyed me.

The author's writing is great, fully drawing the reader into the Martin's mind with his first person pov. I love her writing style.

Lines on the Mirror is a great book. Although the author suggests that the books can be read in any order, I highly suggest reading book one first.
