My Rating - 5 Stars!

All In With Him is a delicious sports romance by Lauren Blakely.

This story follows Declan and Grant, two baseball players who are in love. Unlike most romance books, they're already together at the start.

Instead of watching them fall in love, we get a chance to see what happens after people fall in love. This is the story that comes after the happy for now.

Their story includes a lot of doubts and fears, as they go through some ups and downs. They still love each other, but for some, love isn't easy, as they struggle to keep things good.

Their journey is emotional and heart-warming, as well as super hot.

This is a story that explores that one has to be open to love and has to be ready for love. It's all beautifully done.

Written in alternating first person pov, I enjoy how much the characters come to life. It's easy to follow their feelings throughout and everything flows wonderfully.

All In With Him is a great addition to Lauren Blakely's Men of Summer series. I love everything about this baseball romance.

Sweet Spot (Homeruns #4) by Quinn Ward

Amazon Link   - Available in KU

Four years ago, he gave his heart to a rookie pitcher and struck out. Now, they have a second chance to get things right.
No longer living on the streets and surrounded by men who supported him, Cody Marshall’s life was finally looking up. He hadn’t expected to hook up with anyone on his first spring training trip, but there was something about Nick Stone that called to him. The chemistry was instant and intense. Cody finally allowed himself to believe he could have something good.

And then, Nick left…

Nick’s spent the first four years as a professional ball player trying to prove he deserves his spot on the roster. His biggest goal is to finally step out of the shadow of his father’s legendary career. He hasn’t forgotten the one person who made him feel alive and seen, nor has he forgiven himself for breaking both their hearts.

When he sees Cody at the front of the team bus with the rest of the staff, he knows he won’t be able to turn him away again. Now, they have to find the sweet spot between their dreams and desires.

Sweet Spot is the fourth book in the Homeruns series, previously released under the pen name Sloan Johnson

My Rating - Stars!

Sweet Spot is a marvelous sports romance. The fourth book in the Homeruns series, Quinn Ward is re-releasing these books that were formally released under the pen name of Sloan Johnson.

This time around we get Nick and Cody's story.

They started something years ago, but now they are back at Spring Training together. Nick's reunion with Cody isn't so easy. Cody's still hurting, angry and sad, that Nick dropped him four years ago.

Nick's the coach's son, so he has a mess in front of him. Either the coaching staff is too tough on him, or people assume he's only had success because of his father. It's a tough role. And, as a baseball fan, I appreciate this aspect a lot. I've seen it time and time again, so I love that the author uses this in their novel.

They have to deal with an ass of a teammate who we hated in the past. They have to deal with Nick's mental block. And they have to deal with being together again, as well as coming out.

Their story includes some homophobia, a hate crime, some understanding, and some forgiveness. There are some tough to read moments, but it's also sweet and tender, as these two men are perfect for each other.

I absolutely love the baseball compound that Drew and the guys own. They're all supportive and loving to each other and I adore the way they took in Cody. Love it. In general, I enjoy every moment of this big group of friends and teammates throughout this series.

And, yes, Nick and Cody are hot together!

I love Sweet Spot. This entire series is one of my guilty pleasures. I have read them all many times and am thrilled that Quinn Ward is re-releasing them. If you haven't yet read them, so do. They are fantastic!

Curve Ball (Homeruns #2) by Quinn Ward

Amazon Link   - Available in KU

The last man he loved without anyone knowing he existed. Now, there’s a younger man tempting him to give life a second chance.

Jason Klein’s living with the fallout from a decision he swore was right at the time. He couldn't tell anyone he was in love, which left him to mourn alone when he found out the man he gave his heart to had been killed in combat.

Now, he’s had time to heal, but he’s not sure he’s ready to let himself move on.

Until he meets Cam Morgan…

Without a job lined up following graduation, Cam Morgan took his best friend up on his offer to move to Milwaukee and stay with him until he could get on his feet. The last thing he wanted to do the day after getting to town was go to a party filled with a bunch of jocks. Sure, they were “professional athletes” but Cam was convinced that bigger bank accounts didn’t make them any more accepting of people like him.

He certainly didn’t expect to meet Jason, the Mavericks’ catcher who broke every stereotype he’d had.

What started out as one hot, sweaty night together quickly grows into something deeper. Jason welcomes Cam into his home and his life, but now he has to teach the younger man that it’s not a sign of weakness to let people help you.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Curve Ball, the second book in Quinn Ward's Homeruns series is amazing! I loved this book when it was originally published under the pen name Sloan Johnson. Now, it's republished under Quinn's name with a little bit of added content.

Cam came to town to stay with his friend Drew. And there he ends up meeting all the baseball guys, most notably Jason.

Early on, Cam's conversation with Mason about Jason and Sean had me dying, laughing so hard. Love this scene.

Having been closeted for all these years, meeting Cam has Jason wanting something more.

And damn, they are hot together. This author definitely knows how to write a hot scene.

Love these men and how opposite they are. Cam's clothes makes me smile. I love this part of his personality. Even better though is that Jason appreciates it.

Jason's past involves the loss of his closeted lover. There's a lot of pain and grief to be dealt with before he can fully embrace a new relationship. It's definitely tough to read at times.

They also have to deal with where they live. Cam's living situation is temporary. He doesn't plan to stay. Meanwhile,  Jason's traveling all the time with his team.

Written in alternating first person pov, both men and their insecurities fully come to life. Both men have a lot of baggage and the author excels in all the emotions and growth involved. The men are surrounded by a fabulous group of teammates and friends.

I love Curve Ball and this entire series by Quinn Ward. I love sports romances, and they're even better when it's a series set around a team, with several men finding their love. It's fabulous!

Wild Pitch (Homeruns #1) by Quinn Ward

Amazon Link   - Available in KU

Rivals on the baseball field, best friends off…

Mason is adrift. His marriage has failed and he no longer loves the game that has consumed his life. To make matters worse, he can’t stop wishing he’d been honest with his best friend years earlier.

But that might have been worse. Even if Sean knew Mason loved him, the two couldn’t have been together without giving up the game, and baseball is everything to Sean.

Sean didn’t keep secrets from his friend. Mason is one of the few people who know Sean’s staying in the closet until his baseball career comes to a close.

When Mason admits he’s always known he was bisexual, Sean doesn’t know how to feel.

Hurt.

Angry.

Excited.

Mason is the one man he’d consider breaking his rules for. The first time they touch, he knows a single night could never be enough. But can the two of them find a way to fall in love without it costing Sean the career he’s still devoted to?

Wild Pitch is the first in the Homeruns series, formerly published under the pen name Sloan Johnson.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Wild Pitch is one of my all time favorite friends to lovers romance. Originally published under the pen name of Sloan Johnson, Quinn Ward is now re-releasing this gem with a little bit of added content.

Oh, how I love Sean and Mason. The first book in the Homeruns series, not only are they the couple that start this amazing series, but they are just so damn perfect together.
I love athletes falling in love, and you won't find anyone better than these two.

Fighting their feelings for so long. Mason's been denying his sexuality forever, while Sean has long been in love with his best friend.

This one starts with Sean's current lover getting traded to a different team. They were never out, but Sean couldn't hide his feelings. It's so damn emotional.

In addition to losing his lover, I enjoy this part of the storyline, as it's all too realistic that players never know how long they will be with a team. It's always sad, even as a fan, when a favorite player gets traded. Add in having that teammate be your lover, and ohhhh...so many emotions!

Sean and Mason are on opposite teams, but they happen to be playing each other when Sean has his "breakdown" after his lover getting traded. And who better to pick up the pieces than one's best friend?

What follows is a tale of coming out, sexual exploration, and first times. The emotions with these two kill me at times.

Holy shit, I love these two. Once Mason opens up about his bisexual side, there is NO stopping him. These two are so fucking hot together. I continue to be a little surprised with how fast these men fall into bed, but it doesn't matter. This is years of pent up feelings in the making. And there's no such thing as taking things slow at this point.

Their journey is one of trying to figure out how to be a couple, while playing for rival teams, in a homophobic sport. They have plenty of obstacles in their way, but their feelings are never in doubt. I love this aspect.

The emotional rollercoaster is all over the place as they struggle to figure out what they each want for the future, and what their future together will look like.

Wild Pitch is a total comfort read to me now. I love and adore everything about this Quinn Ward book. I am elated that this series is being re-released and am giddy to re-read them, while also reviewing them. This is a must read for any sports romance fans!

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Always My Girl, the first book in the Always, Maybe, Never series by S Herrera, is a standalone, with a HEA.

Ugh, I want to love this book. It's definitely over the top, but it's a fun read.

High school sweethearts Charlotte and Wren are obviously madly in love. Their future is all planned, but then it ends up that Charlotte's pregnant.

With a story like this, I need to detach myself from their ages. They act way too mature for their ages. But, if I think of it in terms of just the story, ignoring that discrepancy, it's a great tale. Also, I hate tales that glorify teen pregnancy, so I am just ignoring that aspect for now.

Seriously, how the hell is Wren so fucking wonderful? But, alas, he is perfect book boyfriend material.

It's definitely a tale of two parts. The first is sweet, happy, and no angst. At this point they're dealing with their new responsibilities, as well as decisions about college and Wren's baseball career. Other than the pregnancy surprise, there is zero angst for the longest time, which seems strange. One would expect a lot of angst in such a storyline.

The second part is painful, heartbreaking, and full of angst. Seriously, with a classic obstacle thrown their way, there's angst galore with tears, tear, and more tears!

But, alas, there's a HEA.

Besides their ages, I also struggle with some of the baseball aspects, which are just beyond over the top. Every once in a long, and I mean looooonnnnnngggggg while, a player advances through the ranks quickly. Wren's progress is beyond far fetched.

They also treat it like he will stay in the majors. Most young players don't plan to buy a house the second they get "the call." That's insane and beyond jinxing their chances of staying. At that age, if they ever make it there, it would be a September call up, with no idea of the following year. Yes, I am a baseball fan. I worked for a minor league team. This aspect is hard to overlook.

Other than that - The writing style is wonderful, with a great pace and excellent dialogue. This is truly written in a soothing to me manner, exactly the way I love a tale to be written. If future books are like this, I am excited to read everything this author writes.

I am glad I got to read S Herrera's Always My Girl. If I treat it like a college romance, I effin love this book. So  that is how I am choosing to think of it. Just bump their ages up 3 years and this one is perfectly done, full of romance and more romance.

I leave her house, but I don’t get on a plane. I go to my parents and sleep in my bed the entire day with my phone turned all the way up in my hand. If there is a chance, she changes her mind, I want to be here.

I tell myself if she doesn’t call that I will leave the next morning. It’s a lie.

Knox comes over that morning, and we talk. He tells me that I should go if she doesn’t want me here. That way I can come back when she does. The team isn’t going to let me stay gone for too long, and the press is getting antsy.

He books me a flight that leaves tonight. I try calling Charlotte four times, hoping she will ask me to stay. She doesn’t even answer. I call her dad and let him know. He says it is probably for the best.

That night, I board the plane, leaving my broken heart here with her.

Review
My Rating -  4 Stars!

An avid fan of sports romances, I was super excited to read Finish What You Started. This Alexandra Evans book is everything I enjoy in such a book.

It's about a
teacher and student romance. Well, sort of. Tyler takes the class online, but Harper is still his teacher. I enjoy the way the two naturally gravitate towards one another. Their tale is full of temptation and want, while they fight their forbidden feelings. There's hot phone sex, hiding their relationship, and secret moments.

Tyler's a professional baseball player. I love that he's older and trying to finish up his degree. He's a loveable guy, one who cares more about his studies than chasing women. As for the chemistry, holy hotness! They are super hot together as the sparks fly off the pages.

The writing is good, with likeable characters, a fun storyline, and a fluid pace. The ending is definitely not what I expected, but I enjoyed it none-the-less.

Finish What You Started is not the typical sports romance. I enjoy that Tyler's older and ready to end his career. As this is book one in the series, I look forward to reading the next one.
