Stockings and Sugarplums (Hearts of Snow Lake #6.5) by Ashton Cade

Blurb

Phineas:

I’m not just attracted to Pastor Liam. I don’t only think he’s a great guy who I want to spend more time with. There’s more to it. Feelings I have never felt toward any guy, no matter how much I wished I would. As crazy as it sounds, Liam’s the total package. I didn’t even believe in this kind of nonsense before him, but I feel like he might be The One.

Yeah, insane. I know. I never bought into that fairy tale, soul-mates bullsh!t before, but there’s this indescribable tug to be nearer to Liam, to get to know him better, that has never existed for me. What else could it be? Just one little problem with that though: I’m almost positive Liam’s not gay. He's a pastor, for crying out loud.

When push comes to shove in Liam's life, I start to understand exactly why the ministry is a calling for him. He can’t help himself. Self-preservation isn’t even part of the equation when there’s someone hurting and in need. That is what makes him so special. Not only has he made me believe in love, but he's also rekindling my faith in humanity. He's just so... good.

Liam:

Phineas has this air of sophistication and experience about him that I could never aspire to. He’s way out of my league. But he has me completely wrapped around his finger.

I haven’t dated a lot, mostly because of my own awkwardness about the whole religious thing. Looking for a boyfriend in seminary seemed hopeless, and once I became a pastor, that made me undateable to a lot of the gay community. I’m attracted to him, that much is plain as day, but it’s more than that. It’s the way he looks at me, the way he jumps to help me whenever he’s got the chance. That’s not something I’ve ever really had before. And it's something I really need now that I'm juggling not only my ministry and my mother, but also a huge, new life-change that has fallen into my lap just in time for Christmas.

I need a man I can count on, who loves me. Could Phineas Molleni be the answer to my prayers?

Stockings and Sugarplums is a special holiday novella in the Hearts of Snow Lake series. It builds on the Thanksgiving book, Gravy and Gratitude. Happy Holidays from Ashton Cade and the town of Snow Lake!

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Stockings and Sugarplums is a quick paced, fast holiday romance by Aston Cade. This adorable story is part of the Hearts of Snow Lake series.

This is a great story, Liam, the new pastor, and Phineas fall in love. With just 113 pages, there isn't a whole lot to their storyline, but there are definitely some strong emotional moments.

The author once again creates a delighful read with great, fluid writing. The characters are both strong and interesting. The theme of found family is strong, and they find a homeless teen who perfectly adds to this storyline.

Liam and Phineas are so darn perfect together. Stockings and Sugarplums is a fun insta-love read that is perfect when you're in the mood for a sweet, fluffy romance. And if you haven't yet met the characters of the small town of Snow Lake, go back and start with Motorcycles and Macarons. You won't regret it.

His Christmas Magic (Vale Valley Season Four #9) by Drea Roman

Blurb

Wolf shifter Darren longs for his fated mate. Antsy and impatient, he is drawn to search the forest near his family lands the night before Thanksgiving. He senses his mate close by and a crashed sleigh leads him to a grievously injured man. His wolf and human sides are in complete agreement: the tiny blond with the sparkling blue eyes is their mate. But a head injury blurs his mate's past. Are his mate’s strange snippets of memory real or the imaginings of a traumatized brain? What do the man’s feats of magic mean for their bond and their future?

Tuck is concussed and confused. One thing he knows for certain: the hunky, dark haired fireman who smells like sage and wood smoke is his mate. But his memory is fuzzy. Who is this Nick he remembers so fondly? How does he make objects appear with the simple snap of his fingers and flick of his wrist? Why does he know the wrong words to “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”? And what about the little girl who swears he has elf ears? Is Tuck really one of Santa's elves or is he just an injured man with Christmas on his mind?

His Christmas Magic is book nine of the Holiday Season (season four) of the multi-author series of Vale Valley, a small town full of magic and open to everyone in need of love and a home. Join Darren and Tuck as they figure out their future in this holiday story full of magic, love, and a guaranteed HEA.

Drea Roman's His Christmas Magic, part of the Vale Valley series, is an absolutely delightful holiday read.

I love this light-hearted and easy to read book. It has a super fun storyline that kept me entertained throughout.

Tuck is an elf who's off to find his mate. Oh yeah, and his best friend is Santa. So, yes, of course this is a great story.

Darren's a fireman who happens to be a wolf shifter. So, yes, a wolf shifter and an elf are fated mates. Bring it on! It's funny, fluffy and absolutely a feel-good

read. I enjoyed all of it. It's perfectly light-hearted Christmas fun.

Their story has some enchanting Christmas mentions, including Santa, his sleigh, reindeer shifters, and Christmas magic.

Of course, not every author could do this plot justice. But the writing is fantastic, instantly drawing the reader in. Told in alternating 1st person pov, the reader is able to fully feel every moment. The storyline is solid, wonderfully developed and has a great flow.

I love it all!!! Don't miss this gem. His Christmas Magic is perfect when you're in the mood for a feel-good holiday romance.

Changes Coming Down (Changes #1) by Kaje Harper

Blurb

For three gay men in love, opening the closet door could be a risky move.

Sheriff Casey Barlow has a slick, media-savvy challenger out to beat him in the upcoming election. Casey's damned good at his job, but he hasn't kissed the right asses, and early polls suggest voters like his opponent's style. Coming out now, let alone revealing his relationship with two men, could sink any hope of keeping his badge.

Scott Edison has a real shot at the NHL. He's playing the best hockey of his life. Whenever he can, he travels home to his gruff sheriff and their laid-back cowboy, but there are no out gay players in the NHL. As a rookie working his ass off to be called up, he can't afford to make waves.

Will Rice always figured he'd live alone, managing Graham and Annmarie Slater's cattle ranch, but a hot, young hockey player and a compact, muscled lawman rearranged his plans. Even though he's older and lanky and ordinary, he's been sharing their lives and their beds. He doesn't need to be out— isn't sure he ever wants the Slaters to know about him. Life's good the way things are.

Then Graham and Annmarie are killed in a hit and run that may not be an accident. As Will grieves, and Casey investigates, the coming changes will shake all their lives.
** this is a re-edit and expansion of the story in the "Hunting Under Covers" anthology

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Kaje Harper's Changes Coming Down is a riveting menage romance.

This is a story of an established triad. Casey, Scott, and Will are three closeted men who are all pretending to just be three friends who hang out a lot. Each man has extremely different careers, which the cover perfectly illustrates, making the story even more interesting. I don't often get to read about three men who are already an established triad, so I was extra excited for this one.

Damn, these are three men who work tremendously well together, in and out of bed. The men are all equal and I love the age gaps. Scotty's young but every bit an equal part of them. I never felt that something was missing from their relationship, and I absolutely love them together.

Their story is emotional, with the distance and the problems that come with being closeted. It also includes some suspense, which just adds to their tale.

As I've come to expect from Kaje Harper, the writing is wonderful, with well developed characters, flawless dialogue, and a riveting storyline. With alternating povs, she expertly draws the reader into the emotions, with both the emotions and heat jumping off the pages.

Changes Coming Down is a super hot romance. As an avid fan of menage romances, this one definitely satisfied. As this is the first in the Changes series, I can't wait for the next one. With this HFN ending, I am excited to see what happens next for these men.

Cover Design: Meredith Russell

Blurb

On Christmas Eve, Dylan, the man of James Pell-Charnley’s dreams, is on the point of walking out. Then they hear the faint strains of a waltz in the library of the empty abbey. The music is said to be heard only by those truly in love and it gives James the courage to tell Dylan the story.

In December 1841, Lord Hugo Pell-Charnley is in a terrible mess. The youngest son of the late Marquis, youngest brother of the incumbent, never felt to fit. When his life comes crashing down, and his life and his family are threatened, he is forced to face his elder brother and confess his deepest secret. When he arrives at Winsford Abbey he finds he must also confront the shame from his past in the form of Lyndon Cross. The boy he’d loved but betrayed in school.

As they clear the ghosts from the past, they dance in each other’s arms in the library to the soft strains of the waltz, but long buried secrets threaten to destroy their happiness.

Two hundred years later, can those dances long forgotten give James and Dylan the courage to hold on to love?

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Ruby Moone's Dances Long Forgotten is a wonderful historical romance.

This is the story of a family legend, taken place in the 1800s, as Hugo finds himself in trouble after being caught with a man.

This is a story of shame, doubts, suspicions, and always the danger of being caught. It's a story of confessions and protecting one's family. It's a story of many family secrets. And most importantly, it's a story of finding love, a family, and peace.

Seriously, I love this story of Hugo and Landon. And, ohhh, I love the title and how it fits the story. It's beautiful. And omg, the waltz playing every year is amazing.

Written in 3rd person, which isn't my preferred style, it's well done. The author uses a detailed writing style. And omg, the story within a story is perfectly done, gifting the reader with two love stories in one.

Dances Long Forgotten is a tender story of love and romance. I highly recommend this one when you're in the mood for a sweet historical read. Damn, I just love historical romances and this one is a feel-good gem.

Excerpt

A knock on the door froze him. Who in God’s name would be wanting entry to the damned library at this hour?

Before he could respond, it opened, and Lyndon Cross stepped over the threshold and closed the door behind him.

Hugo had no idea what to say. He just stared. Mouth quite probably hanging open.

“I hope you don’t mind me following you,” Cross said. His voice should have been like a chorus of angels given the way he looked, but it was deep, quiet, and had a warm, raspy quality to it that brushed against Hugo’s skin. It always had. Even as a boy it had power, but as a man it wrapped its way all around him.

“Not at all.”

Cross walked towards him, and Hugo had to fight to remain in place and not bolt for the door.

“I wasn’t sure what to expect.”

Hugo frowned. “Beg pardon?”

“I wasn’t sure if you’d want to speak to me.”

“Ah, why wouldn’t I?” Hugo was genuinely bewildered for a moment, but then Cross raised an eyebrow; tilted his head.

No…no…no… He isn’t going to mention it…surely to God? It was something that Hugo had expunged from memory.

“Do you remember my last day?”

Hugo nodded; eyes wide. He is. Dear, sweet God, he is going to mention it.

Hugo felt as though someone was squeezing him all over, making it hard to think or breathe, as he recalled that last day vividly to memory.

He’d heard that Lyndon was leaving the school, from the gossip that periodically rippled through the school. It was as though someone had ripped his heart from his chest. He’d followed him through the building, completely unable to speak to him, tell him how desperate he felt. At the end, he’d hidden in the grand hall and watched Lyndon walk across it to meet his parents waiting in the carriage on the drive. No-one else was about. It was his last chance to say something, but the words stuck in his throat.

Lyndon, by some strange twist, paused by the door, looked around, and spotted him lurking by the grandfather clock. He’d hesitated, whilst Hugo’s heart hung suspended in his chest, and then he’d run to him. Run back into the hall. He’d thrown his arms around Hugo, held him tight for a moment, then kissed him on the cheek. He’d been about to run back when Hugo grabbed him. Actually grabbed him and kissed him full on the mouth.

In his dreams, Hugo liked to think Lyndon had returned the kiss, in a closed mouthed, inexpert way, with his arms tight about him. In reality, he wasn’t too sure. Lyndon had stared for a moment, then run back to his parents.

That had been ten years ago, and now, the first boy he’d kissed stood before him. Hugo wasn’t sure if he’d come to exact retribution and expose him. Well, if he was here to do that, he’d need to get in line.

My name is Ruby Moone and I love books. All kinds of books. My weakness is for romance, and that can be any kind, but I am particularly fond of historical and paranormal. I decided to write gay romance after reading some fantastic books and falling in love with the genre, so am really thrilled to have my work published here. The day job takes up a lot of my time, but every other spare moment finds me writing or reading. I live in the north west of England with my husband who thinks that I live in two worlds. The real world and in the world in my head...he probably has a point!
