Blurb

Emilio Escobar hasn’t always made the right life choices, but to be fearing for his life at eighteen is not what he deserves. Physically battered and emotionally abused, he flees to his cousin, Rafe, head of the Gay Protector Society.

Rafe’s friend and co-owner of the society, Kaden Donagan, is interested in becoming Emilio’s protector, but it comes with a price. Emilio is never to break the security rules and has to accept Kaden’s decisions at all times, or his punishment will be harsh. Emilio is more than happy to accept Kaden’s conditions. Kaden is everything he wants in a protector.

Unfortunately, misunderstandings, lies, and shortcomings on both their parts threaten to take away the one thing Emilio and Kaden each need more than anything else: each other.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: This book contains mild BDSM elements including restraints, blindfolds, and spanking. Taming Emilio is book 2 in the Buried Secrets Series, or it can be read as a stand-alone book with no cliffhanger.

Excerpt

“Emilio, this is your night to shine. Remember to be yourself at the party and one of the men will claim you. That doesn’t mean for you to entertain all the protectors. This is not your old job, so behave yourself when you work the bar. I’m going to park the car, and then I’ll join the party.”

“I promise I’ll be on my best behavior and I won’t embarrass you.”

“Please leave James alone.”

“James will be at the party? I thought you said James picked Dante from the second group?” Emilio’s pulse quickened as he thought about James being at the party. For some reason, he needed James’s validation and attention.

“Yes, but he likes to come to all the parties and play with the new ones.”

“What about me? I’m a new one.” Emilio grinned at Rafe.

“What about you?”

“What if James wants to play with me, are you going to stop him?” Emilio glared at his cousin.

“The purpose of this party tonight is for you to secure your own protector. You’d be wasting your time with James because he’s taken, but I won’t stop him or you. Do what you think is right with James. Remember that he’ll be in our group. If you do anything with him, how will you feel about Dante, or how will he feel about you when you have your own protector?”

“I don’t know Dante, but I hope that means you won’t interfere.”

My Rating - 3 Stars!

I have a like/hate relationship with Master Braden's Houseboy. I would have given it four stars if it was the first book in the series. But, as Brina Brady made this book three in the Irish Runaway Series, I am giving it three stars.

In Master Braden's Houseboy, we follow along as Connor takes in Reece to be his houseboy. His plans are to take him as his sub, but he'll have a lot to do before Connor will do so. Meanwhile, Reece desperately wants to be Connor's sub and will do anything to get there. What follows is a fun tale of Connor teaching and training Reece to be his sub.

As I said, I really would have liked this book a lot had it been the first in the series. Since it's book three, we already know too much about how things will end. Why? Because it takes place prior to book one. As a result, there is one huge part of the story that breaks my heart way too much, as I know how it ends.

As a standalone book though, I enjoyed it much more. I was definitely mad about the smoking issues though, as it just seems so niave of Connor to react the way he does.

Overall, Master Braden's Houseboy is a fun book on it's own, with a good plot and good writing. Brina Brady definitely has a good series on her hands with The Irish Runaway Series.

Master Cleary's Boys (Irish Runaway #2) by Brina Brady

Book #2 - Master Cleary's Boys - Amazon US | Amazon UK

Blurb

Desperate to escape the clutches of an increasingly sadistic and abusive Dom, Kevin and Jack seize their opportunity to escape and runaway to Galway. They shave their heads and do their best to avoid being detected while searching for a new Dom who is prepared to take them on as package deal. Their running leads them to Cleary's Pub—a bar full of leather-clad Doms and subs, owned and run by Master Cleary...
Master Cameron Cleary was in need of a new sub—it had been far too long since he'd had a boy in his life. Each night as he ran his pub filled with leather-clad Doms, accompanied by their Subs, he became more aware of how solitary his life had become. That is, until two young cousins turned up one night looking for work, a place to stay, and more intriguingly a Dom who would take them both. Something about their recently shaved heads and skittish demeanor stirred his interest and protective nature. But did he want two subs, and was he prepared to deal with whatever trouble these boys were hiding?

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Master Cleary's Boys is the second book in Brina Brady's Irish Runaway series, but it can definitely be read as a standalone.

Kevin and Jack are two subs who've escaped from their abusive Dom. When they meet Master Cleary, the demand to be kept together. Thus, we get a unique and interesting twist of a Dom having two equally important subs. To make things better, Master Cleary is unsure of having two subs and has to decide what to do.

There's some great BDSM behavior and disciplines explored in this novel. It is interesting to see how a true sub can also rise to the occasion of being a Dom when need be. We also get to see the difference between having a horrific Dom versus having a caring and loving Dom.

Their story isn't easy or quick. They have to deal with insecurities, doubts and jealousy, in addition to a lot of manipulation. The abuse is difficult to read.

Master Cleary's Boys is well developed and completely riveting. Brina Brady does a fantastic job with these two young men, taking them from an abusive situation, and ultimately placing them in a loving relationship.

My Rating - 4 Stars!

The Runaway Gypsy is a unique, fun romance by Brina Brady.

How often do we get to read about a romance with a gypsy? This is definitely a first for me. Daniel's a gypsy boy, who's run away from his gypsy family, fearing their reaction when they discover that he's gay. I find all of the gypsy scenes, and people's reaction to a gypsy to be well written.

What follows is an entertaining romance when Daniel tries to find a job and meets Ronan.

There's a lot to appreciate in this book. Daniel's character get a fresh and interesting look at the real world, as there's so much for him to learn. The most fun, of course, is Daniel's education of the BDSM leather scene.

Ronan's a complete control freak, and Daniel just left a insanely controlled environment, making for some interesting situations. Living under Ronan's control takes some getting used to. Eventually trust becomes the key to their relationship. Of course, the author does a wonderful job of explaining the differences between the gypsy's need to control and Ronan's need to control.

Their romance isn't easy, as they have to survive betrayal, violence, pain and grief. Some of the scenes are heart-wrenching to read about. Luckily, we also see healing and trust.

The Runaway Gypsy Boy definitely makes for a good, emotional read. I am impressed with Brina Brady's vision for this story.
