Death and Destruction (Death and Destruction #1) by Patricia Logan

Blurb

Forced to go into witness protection, ATF Special Agent Thayne Wolfe, is less than thrilled. The State’s Attorney needs him to testify against one of the most ruthless and notorious arms dealers in the world. Expecting boredom and lots of daytime television, he instead ends up with a ridiculous new job, a stupid new name, and the world’s most annoying shadow. Jarrett Evans, is nevertheless tasked with keeping Wolfe alive long enough to put Mills Lang and his crew away for the rest of their miserable lives.

Jarrett Evans, former Marine, has always been a free spirit, doing the dirty work for Uncle Sam whenever and wherever he’s needed. One of the best snipers in the world, Evans is at peace with the man he’s become. That doesn’t mean he’s ever liked the cold-blooded killer who stares back at him from the mirror every day. The moment he meets pretty boy Thayne Wolfe, things start a slow change and redemption begins to sound possible.

Mills Lang, the world’s most ruthless arms dealer, is little more than a serial killer in his own right. Rotting away in prison with nothing but time on his hands, Lang is determined to destroy the man he allowed into his inner circle. Thayne Wolfe will die in the most painful way… along with anyone he loves.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

I've been wanting to read Patricia Logan's Death and Destruction Series for a while. I've finally started and book one, Death and Destruction is everything I was hoping it would be.

Thayne's a ATF agent, who now needs protection, as he has a target on his back. It's a fun concept, as even undercover agents need to be protected sometimes. When he meets Jarrett, who's sent to protect him, he's mad and resentful. But, soon they are alone and get to know each other.

Together, they need to deal with PTSD nightmares, threats and uncertainties, in addition to their growing attraction. The book has great flow, a fun plot, and some amazing chemistry. And, oh boy, the sexual tension.

I absolutely adore Jarrett for the way he helps Thayne with his nightmares. Jarrett is charming and funny and just wonderful. And Thayne's toughness is a turn on. Together, these two men are sizzling, both in and out of bed.

Death and Destruction has two hot men, both strong and smart, which is exciting. Patricia Logan perfectly adds some humor to all the suspense, keeping things a little lighter. If you like action and danger mixed in with your romance, be sure to check out this one.

GRL 2018 SPOTLIGHT - Patricia Logan - The Superstar

In my attempt to cover some of the attending authors for this year's GRL,
I am reviewing

The Superstar
by Patricia Logan!

BLURB

Storm Ellison is the sexiest man on two legs. The gorgeous young star of “Trapped on an Island”, the hottest reality show on television, is instantly recognizable the moment he leaves his palatial mansion. Paparazzi follow him everywhere, leaving him no peace or privacy, selling his pictures to the tabloids, and cementing his reputation in the press as a slutty gay playboy. As Storm prepares to sign his first major movie deal, his manager decides he needs protection. What he doesn’t expect, is to be attracted to the cold bastard who’s now running his life.

Balthazar Grant, freelance bodyguard, is a huge, handsome, rough and ready former Marine, trained by the best, and willing to step between Storm and anyone stupid enough to come at him.

Always stoic and serious, Taz lends a deadly presence to Storm’s entourage whenever he ventures out in public. Storm doesn’t want a bodyguard, much less one who won’t let him live his fast and loose lifestyle with impunity and he’s certainly not one to be dictated to by an overconfident Marine who has opinions about everything including who he should hook-up with.

When a deadly threat hits Storm’s world, he’s suddenly living his own reality show, only this one has an outcome which doesn’t involve being voted off an island. Will Storm wake up before it’s too late and will Taz be able to fight his attraction to the handsome young superstar while trying to convince him he’s in very real danger? The pair will soon learn that reality is stranger than fiction.

REVIEW
My Rating - 4 Stars!

In The Superstar, Patricia Logan tackles one of my favorite tropes, as the bodyguard falls in love with his charge. Add in that I love Hollywood stories, and that this one has an interracial couple, and I am hooked!

Taz is working in the private security industry after ending his career in the marines. He's big, tough and intimidating. When he's set to watch over a current Hollywood hunk, Storm, he's expecting to hate the guy. Then he spends time working for him and sees that Storm is nothing like the spoiled actor that he reads about in the tabloids.

One of my favorite things about this story is that when Storm finds himself intrigued with his bodyguard, he repeatedly laments that he has never seen Taz's eyes. This is just so thought-provoking, as the eyes say so much about a person. Love this aspect of their story!

I also really enjoy the scenes wit Storm's best friend, Jules, as she lends so much humor to the book.

As there should be with any good bodyguard book, we get some mystery and suspense. And as with any good romance, we get some great tension, chemistry, and some steamy moments!

Patricia Logan is well known in her genre, and she doesn't disappoint with The Superstar!

Detective Pope Dades is a veteran police officer working in the Hollywood division, one of the busiest police precincts in the country. Dealing with drug dealers, hookers, and mentally ill suspects on a daily basis is his stock and trade. He once loved his job with the LAPD but three years ago, he put his trust in the wrong man and he’s been paying the price ever since. Refusing to work with a partner after the first one nearly killed him, Pope is jaded, still hurting, and hanging onto the career he once adored by a thread.

Deeply closeted, Felix hides his sexual orientation from his huge Catholic family which brings him terrible guilt and grief. One night in a back-room nightclub encounter, he connects with a man who inexplicably makes him want to confess everything. Assigned to help shut down an elusive child sex trafficking ring, Felix instinctively knows he’ll need turn to the more experienced detective for help if he and his partner want to crack this case.

In the first book of the brand new Thin Blue Line series, join Felix and Pope in this exciting adventure as their worlds collide on the mean streets and in between the sheets…

Thin Blue contains a sneak peek at Order & Anarchy (The Thin Blue Line series Book 2)

** Please Note**

If you’ve read the Death and Destruction series, Lincoln Snow, McBride M. McCallahan, Jarrett Evans-Wolfe, and Thayne Evans-Wolfe also play ongoing roles in this new series. Never fear, Jarrett probably won’t be base jumping off any more buildings… probably.

REVIEW
My Rating - 5 Stars!

Thin Blue, is a wonderful start of a new series, The Thin Blue Line, by Patricia Logan.

Pope Dades, a cop, is impulsive, hated by his homophobic co-workers, was betrayed by his ex best friend, and is in trouble for his actions against a suspected drug dealer. He is honorable, just tends to bend the rules occasionally.

Felix, meanwhile, works undercover for Homeland Security, and is extremely closeted due to his family's beliefs.

Pope and Felix, neither of whom were looking for more than a hook-up, end up feeling quite enamored with each other, and just feeling like they fit together. They work well together, are accepting of each other, and have some amazing chemistry together! However, they will need to fight quite a few obstacles if they want to be together.
This book contains compelling characters, some hot moments, and some great humor. It is loaded with action, suspense and intrigue that will keep you riveted.

Warning - This story contains a huge child sex trafficking case.

I am thrilled to discover this new series by Patricia Logan. I can only hope the others will be just as remarkable as Thin Blue. Anyone that loves a good romance sprinkled with action and suspense needs to read this book.
