45 and Holding -by Jacki James and Jill Wexler

BLURB

Empty Nest meets Mid-life Crisis

When widower Scott Anderson’s daughter goes off to college, he finds himself alone for the first time in as long as he can remember. With his primary role no longer being “Claire’s dad,” he realizes he isn’t sure who he is or what he wants out of life.

For Craig Baker, a mid-life crisis crept up on him in the form of restlessness that a new Jeep didn’t solve. Just as he’s contemplating getting a tattoo to try and shake himself out of this funk, he meets an old classmate who is in the same boat.

They’re both trying to figure out who they are at the age of forty-five.

For one man, there’s a slow realization that maybe he doesn’t need something to cure the restlessness, but someone.

For the other man, it’s the discovery of a new side to himself and the willingness to embrace it.
And for both of them, it’s realizing that mid-life means you still have half your life left so you might as well live it.

45 and Holding is a fantastic romance by Jacki James and Jill Wexler. It's a
perfectly refreshing and realistic romance between two middle aged men. And for this middle aged woman, it is a must read!

Scott and Craig meet up 26 years after they graduated high school together. Both are going through some changes, as Scott's dealing with the fact that his daughter just moved out, and Craig's going through a mid-life crisis.

They friendship picks up quickly and what starts as companionship turns to love. Their relationship is absolutely sensational and entertaining. I love everything about the men and them as a couple only makes things better. And, omg, the humor. I was definitely laughing out loud during the rat scene. So damn funny!

Please do yourself a favor and read 45 and Holding now! Jacki James and Jill Wexler will leave you happy and satisfied with this gem!

Excerpt

Now was my time to truly explore Noel,
the epitome of muscle-bound perfection. He sat, eyes closed and relaxed, right
next to me in the hot tub. Why he had to wear his swimsuit was beyond me, but
at least he was here. I examined him once again, his bubbly pecs hanging just
above the surface of the water. The frothy foam prevented seeing his toned abs
from up on top, but If I really wanted to, I could try and touch them, and it
was worth it to try. “Mind if I touch?” I asked, pointing towards his chest.

“I guess. I am feeling a little tense
there right now.” Score! With no delay, I placed the palm of my left hand on
his right pec muscle, turning my body so it faced his. With my knees planted on
the fiberglass flooring, I let go of him with my palm and pressed hard, but
gradually on his chest with my knuckles. I could see his facial expressions as
I made circles with my hands to relieve the tension. His teeth clenched
together, but I wasn’t sure if he was in any pain. I looked down into the
water, and still couldn’t see anything down there. I did about twenty circles
on his chest before patting each pec a couple of times and moving on down to
his stomach.

As I placed my hand on his toned, rigid
abs, he pushed me away, almost making me lose balance. “You suck at this,” he
said. “Turn around and bend over.”

I turned myself around and felt a chill
down my spine, thinking it would chill the soothing waters.  Was he going to fuck me? I hoped so, but his
stoic expression told me that wasn’t going to happen. After all, he was wearing
a swimsuit. I tried taking a deep breath without inhaling the steam coming from
the tub, but a little bit of it got in. I wanted to sneeze, and just as it was
about to come out, I felt an iron grip on my right shoulder. It sucked out all
the sneeze. I felt another iron grip clasping on my other shoulder as I looked
towards my right. I guess Noel decided to give me a massage.

He started with just my right side, his
hands beating into my shoulder with more pressure than I was giving him. It was
agonizing to say the least. Tears began to form up in my eyes from the
excruciating pain he gave me. I couldn’t say stop, because I wanted him to
worship my body. Even though only around five minutes had passed, it seemed
like an eternity before he stopped. It was only for a moment, but the pain continued
on my left side, this time with twice the magnitude.

He gave me a beatdown of a lifetime,
pounding my shoulders and back like I was his drum. The painful massage ended
as he gently patted my neck afterwards. “Okay, Jason. Turn around again and sit
down.”

I turned myself and sat in the seat I
was originally facing. Noel towered over me; his abs right in front of my face
and sprinkled with drops of spa water grouped up on each muscle. “Now I see why
you became a model,” I said.

REVIEW
My Rating - 5 Stars!

A Taste of Agapi is a fantastic, atmospheric romance by Chris Ethan. It revolves around Jimmy and Ren, who become roommates and friends during Ren's semester abroad in Greece. Jimmy, who's Greek, is hiding the fact that he's gay, in addition to be completely ashamed it.

In addition to the romance, we get a wonderful taste of Greece, both the local flair, as well as the political climate. The homophobia and bullying that take place are both shocking and upsetting. I had no idea that Greece, in general, is not a tolerant country. So heart-breaking.

The political climate of Greece certainly adds to the amazing journey that Jimmy takes, as he learns to accept his homosexuality, as well as embracing it. This story is so much more than just falling in love. It is an eye-opening and heart-warming journey of self-discovery and coming of age.

As for Ren, my heart just breaks for him, as he not only suffers from culture shock, but is the target of some awful bullying. Every thought and emotion is so well written that I found myself transported into their hearts and minds.

I love the scene when Jimmy and Ren are playing "Never Have I Ever." It is just perfectly done!

A Taste of Agapi contains some wonderful secondary characters, who add so much heart. Chris Ethan has excelled at this marvelous tale, that is both irresistible and inspiring. Don't miss out on this one!

Author Bio

Chris Ethan is a book whore. He enjoys selling his feelings for money and other pleasures and is blatantly unashamed to do so for as long as he breathes. Chris Ethan is also a persona for Rhys Ethan, author of fantasy and sci-fi. He uses Chris Ethan to share stories of adult queer romance with those who need it. Before you delve into his books however, be warned. He likes putting his characters through shitstorms and hates anything conventional. But then there's that darned happy-ever-after. Also, he likes swearing. Deal with it!

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Starf*cked is a fantastic second chance romance about a rock star and a fan by BL Morticia.

Ten years ago, Steven was a rock star diva, living on drugs, alcohol and sex. What no one knew at the time was that he was living this way to escape the pain of being closeted. One night, a bathroom hookup with a fan forever changes Noah's life, as he can't forget Noah and the connection they made. Noah also can't forget. Not only was he Steven's biggest fan, he also felt that amazing connection.

Now, Steven's clean and trying to get back into making music, despite his health issues. And what he wants is to find Noah, as he's the one that got away.

This story is wonderful! I love second chance stories, and this one checks all the boxes for me. They are a great couple, who just understand one another so well. When they re-unite, they still have a long road to travel if they want to be together. They must face racism, homophobia, trust issues and logistical issues.

Steven may have been an ass in the beginning, but now he's one of the most romantic men ever. And Noah, well, you can't help but to fall in love with Noah. He's sweet, honest and so damn loving!

BL Morticia writes this compelling story with compassion, inspiration and effectiveness. Starf*cked is an emotional journey that is well worth the ride.

REVIEW
My Rating - 4 Stars!

Distance Cousins is a whirlwind romance that involves so much more, as Eric Huffbind tackles a fun and mysterious search for Duncan's biological family.

When Duncan took a DNA test, he never expected to discover that he's adopted. He is furious with his parents for never informing him. He wants to find out where he comes from, and sets off to find out who his parents are. In his search, he finds one of his distance relatives, who happens to be famous. As he works with Aaron to find his family, the two become close, and ultimately find love.

This story is full of emotion, as there's anger, hurt, guilt, despair, and more anger. A dominant theme is that of learning to forgive.

This book is more of a self-discovery book than that of a romance. The romance is certainly there, but at it's heart this story is a fantastic tale of discovery what family and forgiveness means.

The author does a fantastic job with the genealogy part of the story. It is written with great knowledge and understanding. I loved this part of the story.

I will admit to being very upset with certain parts of the story, as I hate that some secrets are more important than family. This part definitely had me raging. But what follows makes up for it.

As for Duncan and Aaron, they are perfect together. They're sweet, loving and romantic. Eric Huffbind certainly does a great job with Distant Cousins.

Excerpt

Aaron was walking, while an airline employee was pushing Konner in the wheelchair, heading towards the arrivals area. Konner noticed a gentleman, dressed in a chauffeur’s attire, holding a sign that read “Kirkman Party.”

Aaron walked towards the man, who was quick to say, “Good Morning, Mr. Kirkman. My name is James and I’ll be driving you and Mr. O’Flattery to the Hyatt Regency. Do you have any checked luggage we need to retrieve before we leave.?”

“Yes, we do, James.” The driver explained to the airline employee he would take over pushing the wheelchair. Konner had the definitive facial expression of, “What the hell is this all about? A chauffeur?”

Aaron was quick to notice his appearance. “Arnie always arranges for a limousine to meet me when I travel.”

“Oh—I see. Aaron, this is so foreign to me. A house in Bel Air was one thing, but flying first class, and a chauffeured limousine. Let me guess, we’re staying in the presidential suite at the hotel.”

Aaron responded, “Uhhhh…” Followed by clearing his throat. “Actually, yes, we are staying in the presidential suite. I would’ve thought you would like it. You don’t?”

“I wouldn’t say I don’t like it,” Konner answered “I feel like a country bumpkin next to you. I’ve never had your kind of money. And I’m not used to being taken care of, like you are. I’ve always made my own way in the world.”

“Can’t I make life nicer for you? It’s important to me.”

“You mean living the high life is important to you?” asked Konner.

“No. It’s not that. It’s important to me that you live a nice life.” Aaron said. “Let’s talk about it after we get in the limo. Okay?” Konner nodded in agreement.

Within five minutes, they were waiting at the baggage carousel. Aaron pointed their bags out, and the driver obtained the luggage to carry. Aaron offered to push Konner’s wheelchair the rest of the way. Once they were outside, a black stretch limousine was waiting at the curb. The driver placed their luggage in the trunk and then opened the passenger door for the boys. Aaron helped Konner to his feet and into the back seat of the car. The chauffeur closed the door for them and drove them straight away to their hotel.

The back seats were in the form of wrap-around couches. The smell of leather and alcohol floated in the air. As Konner sunk into the smooth feel of the black leather, he noticed a sunroof above them. “Am I too plain for you?” Konner asked.

Aaron felt as if it caught him off guard. “Absolutely not! Why would you think that?”

“Because, you said it was important to you I live a nice life. The high life as I call it. My feelings are a little hurt, you made me feel inadequate. Like I wasn’t rich enough, or fancy enough to meet your high standards.”

“Oh, my God! Sweetheart, nothing could be further from the truth. It has to do with the question you wanted answered when I said you need to ask your parents. It’s all tied together.”

“I see. So, I still need to talk to my parents for the solution.” Aaron gave a yes nod. “It has to be the something that badly hurt you. It's become obvious your parents must’ve been the offenders.” Another yes nod from Aaron. “Then you don’t look down on me for living a plain-Jane life?”

“No! Not at all! I may live a fancy life, but I swear to you…” Aaron took an audible breath and sighed. “I may be an asshole who's gone around seducing men, but I’m not a snob. I still want to make your life better, but not for the reason you think. I promise.” Aaron reached for Konner’s face to caress, always enjoying the feel of his facial hair, and gave him a kiss.

“I’d better give Anna a call. Let her know we’re here.” Konner pulled his cell phone from his carry-on bag and dialed her number. “Hi, Anna, it’s Konner. Aaron and I have arrived. We’re staying at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento; that’s where we’re driving to right now… We’d love to have lunch with you and your husband tomorrow…”
