Footsteps of the Past is a wonderful romance by Felice Stevens. The second book in Felice Stevens' Second Chances series, this book is riveting and all consuming.

Chess and Andre's story is one of love, strength, and healing. But it's also one of secrets, guilt, and shame.

The story follows the men as they are engaged, but struggling with some issues from their past, including one such issue that keeps getting in their way.

The men are so perfect for one another, despite their obvious differences. I hate seeing Andres working so hard, but I understand how he fell into that role.

I love the way this story ultimately unfolds. It's full of natural questions, conversations, and honest reactions.

Both men have painful pasts. Chess's story will leave you crying, and Andres' background will leaving you angry and sympathetic. Both have a reason to not talk about their pasts and I appreciate the way everything comes out. Even if I wanted to smack a couple people around.

I love this series, and the four best friends. Their friendship is one of those that I love to find in books. I love that they can support one another without knowing all the details. They believe in each other and will defend one another without question. It's wonderful.

Footsteps of the Past is a fantastic tale of an established couple hitting a bump in their relationship. Felice Stevens brings all the emotions as the couple experiences some ups and downs. I love everything about this book.

“André, there you are. I wanted to make sure you met Professor Williamson, in case you couldn’t stay the entire evening. Knowing your busy schedule, we’re thrilled you were able to make it tonight.”
“Francis, I’m sorry, but I seem to have lost your champagne.” Chess’s stomach bottomed out, and he gazed mutely at the man. “I’m having a nice conversation with…” He grinned at Chess. “I’m sorry. I don’t know your name.”
Having no clue what the hell was going on, Chess said, “Chester. Chester Braxton.”
Williamson and Turcotte stared at him with a mixture of surprise and confusion on their faces, and then Williamson greeted him. “Hello, Chester. I hope you’re enjoying yourself. I see you’ve met André Webster.”
Chess’s mouth fell open in surprise, and he stared at the man, who raised his glass, hiding his smile behind it.
“André Webster of Webster Properties? One of the trustees of the university?”
“Surprise.” André’s blue eyes twinkled, and a dimple appeared in the crease of his cheek. Chess could’ve fainted from embarrassment. Or swooned from the man’s sheer sensuality. He managed to find his voice.
“I-I thought you were a waiter.”
“Which leads me to believe it’s high time to change my tailor. I obviously need a better-quality tuxedo.”
Chess snorted, and heat rose in his cheeks. “I’m sure that won’t be a problem. I’ll let you gentlemen speak. It was nice to see you again, Martin, President Turcotte. Mr. Webster, it was nice to meet you, and thank you for keeping me company.”
He walked away and found several colleagues he’d spoken to during his orientation. He greeted them, making casual conversation for a while. He spotted André Webster with other high-ranking faculty members, and their eyes met. Webster smiled and winked at him. Chess’s cheeks burned, and he turned away. With a glass of champagne in hand, he wandered over to the spread of food and nibbled on a few hors d’oeuvres, planning to slip out the door as unobtrusively as possible.
“To whom do I complain about the sad state of affairs of the cheese?” André Webster’s deep voice whispered in his ear, and Chess’s lips twitched.
“I couldn’t say.”
“Well, then maybe you’ll say yes to having dinner with me.”
“Dinner?” A thrill of anticipation shot through him. “When?”
“Now. I’m dying of boredom, and the only interesting part of the evening was talking to you. I’d like to continue that, but in a much more romantic setting.”
“Romantic?” Chess licked his lips. “Isn’t that coming on strong, considering we don’t know each other?”
“I plan on changing that tonight. I have a feeling you’re going to be the last man I ever ask on a date.”

Rhone's Rebel (The Road To Rocktoberfest #5) by T.L. Travis

Amazon Link - Available in KU
Goodreads Link

Rhone Horne, drummer for the band Embrace the Fear, bleeds rock ‘n roll. Being the son of legendary drummer Sage Horne, the first time Rhone picked up his father’s old drumsticks, he knew he was destined to follow in his footsteps. But filling such big shoes would not come easily.

Ely Pearcy, made a promise to himself on his eighteenth birthday that he would never again hide who he was. His love of lace, silk, and six-inch heels got him banned from his childhood home the day he graduated high school. Alone and penniless, Ely sought solace in a local LGBTQA+ shelter amongst his peers.

Rhone’s Rebel is the 5th book in the multi-author Road To Rocktoberfest series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but why not stay and enjoy the whole show? If you like scorching tales of hot rock stars and the men who love them, then you’ll adore the untamed musicians of Rocktoberfest!

Rhone’s Rebel takes place between Derek’s Destiny, book 2 and Jaxson’s Nemesis, book 3 of the Maiden Voyage series.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Rhone's Rebel, the fifth book in The Road to Rocktoberfest, is a fun rocker romance. As TL Travis' contribution to this multi-author series, we get yet another great look into this rock festival and all the men involved.

Rhone and Ely certainly don't make a typical couple. Rhone's the hot rocker. Ely's the makeup wearing, androgynous chef on the tour. Both men are at the start of their careers. Rhone trying to make it big with his band while Ely's trying to graduate culinary school and start his career as a chef.

The opposites factor is large for these two. Ely's backstory and lack of self esteem broke my heart. The poor young man believed every word his father ever spat his way. His anxiety attacks are fully brought to life, with the reader easily feeling his pain. Meanwhile Rhone is far from being on his own. Not only does he have a large support system with his music friends, but his family is wonderful too.

I love the way Rhone cares for Ely and wants to help him. Ely's need for independence is definitely annoying, but also understandable.

As for the physical aspect, good god, the attraction is strong. Ely's virgin status and lack of sexual knowledge adds a lot of heat to their story. Add in some lace manties and wow. I seriously enjoyed the steam!

As I've come to expect from this author, the writing is fabulous. I was immediately draw to the men and their stories. The character development is marvelous and their storyline is emotional and compelling. The reader is easily brought into every thought and emotion throughout, including those suffocating anxiety attacks.

Overall, Rhone's Rebel is a wonderful romance by TL Travis. I love everything about this book and look forward to reading it again. And, omg, the author left us with a sneak treat of what's to come in the next book. I can't wait.

Second Nature (His Chance #2) by Alexa Land

Amazon Link - Available in KU
Goodreads Link

The last time I saw Gabriel, he was putting me on a bus and sending me to some relatives I’d never met, with the hope of a fresh start after rehab.

That was four years ago.

Now he’s back in my life. I’ve wanted him for years, while he’s always thought of me as just a friend. This is my one shot at turning our friendship into so much more.

But how do I convince him I’m the man he needs, and not the broken boy he used to know?

Second Nature is book two in Alexa Land’s His Chance Series, which is a spinoff of her best-selling Firsts and Forever Series. Firsts and Forever readers will recognize some familiar faces, but this gay romance can be read as a stand-alone.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Second Nature is classic Alexa Land. The second book in the His Chance series, Land starts us off on Catalina Island, the setting of her Castaways series, and ends up taking us to San Fransico, where her Firsts and Forever series takes place.

For this book, Gabriel and Riley get their second chance, after many years of hoping to find one another again. I love these men. They are survivors who clearly belong together. They helped each other in the past and are doing so again.

Their story includes former prostitution, drugs, a vile Dom, and more. They have to deal with temptation, stubbornness, and pride. And for the good stuff, their tale includes sexy panties, delicious outfits, and a pantry revolution.

The main characters are fabulous, with complex pasts and a strong connection. They truly deserve a happy ending. And the side characters consist of past characters who made me cheer when they showed up. Yes, I actually cheered out loud.

My favorite quote has to be "Why not just let people be themselves and be happy? It doesn't cost anything to accept others instead of judging them." If only!

Second Nature is a compelling romance that will keep you satisfied throughout. I love Alexa Land and the heart she infuses into her stories. This one is sure to delight!

Fragile (Strictly Off Limits #2) by Skyler Snow & Rheland Richmond

Amazon Link - Available in KU

Jack
Flying out to LA to check on my son’s new relationship is one thing, but what do I do when I fall in love with his best friend Tom?
I know Elliot wants Tom to be our buffer. I think he's meant to distract me. He definitely does that. The more I talk to Tom, the more I realize there’s more to him than a flirty, over the top persona he shows the world.
He’s real, he’s lonely and everything about him draws me in.

Tom
My best friend wants me to check in on his dad. That’s it. So why am I feeling this way?
Sure, the man’s hot, but there are plenty of gorgeous men in L.A... All I have to do is talk to him, keep him company and make sure he's occupied during his stay.
There’s just one problem; the more I get to know him the more I want him to be mine. This was never part of the plan. But I’m falling for Jack and I don’t know how to stop. I don’t want to.
Fragile has little to no angst and lots of fluff! There is no cheating, and definitely a HEA! This a short and sweet read.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

After loving Forbidden, I was super excited to dive into Fragile. The second book in the Strictly Off Limits series by Skyler Snow and Rheland Richmond, it's everything I hoped it would be.

In the first book, Forbidden, Elliott fell in love with his father's friend. This time Jack falls in love with his son's friend Tom. Yes, this time around we get to see Elliott's father, Jack, find love. And, yay, it's another May to December romance. Woo Hoo!

I love everything about this story. It's wonderful that their friendship is what develops first, as they naturally gravitate to one another. Their relationship is one of flirting and hot tension, followed by first times, spanking, and the struggle of coming out to one's son. There's heat and humor, sweetness and tenderness.

Jack and Tom are two characters who are easy to love. Each man has a past that is complicated and has fully shaped them into who they are today. Jack is one who put his life aside in order to raise his son. He's bisexual, but hasn't ever been with a man. Tom, meanwhile, has a heart wrenching past, full of a homophobic family and a life on the streets.

I love these men and the ease in which they fall in love. The two complete one another perfectly, with each bringing a sense of calm to the other. Of course, this is a story of a relationship that develops in secret, which adds a touch of light angst.

The writing is great, with alternating 1st person pov that brings the emotions out in full force. The authors excel in entwining these men with Scott and Elliott, making them ever present in this story.

Fragile is a fantastic read. Be sure to check out this Skyler Snow and Rheland Richmond collaboration the next time you're in the mood for a sweet May to December read. You won't be disappointed.

RELEASE BLITZ, EXCERPT & REVIEW - The Chocolate Works by Geoffrey Knight

Title: The Chocolate Works
Author: Geoffrey Knight
Series: Standalone
Genre: Gay Romance
Tropes: Opposites Attract, Romantic Comedy, Foodie Romance
Release Date: July 10, 2020
Formats Available: Ebook, Paperback, Kindle Unlimited

Henry Dawson knew that Levi Jones was his complete opposite from the moment they met. After all, what on earth could a nerdy, slightly neurotic risk assessment analyst like Henry possibly have in common with a wild, passionate and sexy chocolate-maker like Levi? The answer is, more than Henry could ever have imagined.

Henry Dawson lives a quiet life of perfect order and routine. His job as a cross-checker at a Chicago-based risk assessment firm means there’s no detail unmissed, no error unfixed and no room in his world for curve balls. That is until the day he loses his job, finds out his apartment building has been condemned, and receives an inheritance from an uncle he never even knew he had.

Now with no job, no home and no hope for the future, Henry suddenly finds himself in the tiny dead-end town of Los Encantado in the middle of the New Mexico desert, ready to sell the small roadside diner bequeathed to him by the uncle he never met. Given the circumstances, what choice does he have but to offload the diner—operated by waffle-loving Doris Day fan, Gracie Garcia—in an effort to try and fund his way back to his old life in Chicago?

But Henry was never planning on the arrival of wild, passionate and incredibly sexy Levi Jones. Nor was he ready for Levi’s crazy plan to turn Gracie’s Diner into the greatest Chocolate Works the world has ever known. For Levi claims to be the country’s finest chocolatier… or is he?

Before he knows it, Henry is pulled into Levi’s plan to create the most delicious, irresistible, mouth-watering, knee-buckling chocolates the world has ever imagined. At the same time Henry finds himself falling head over heels for the reckless, romantic allure of a man who is the complete opposite of everything Henry holds sacred.

Will Henry succumb to the charms of a handsome stranger despite every instinct warning him that Levi is nothing but a snake oil salesman? Will the secrets of Levi’s past destroy Henry’s hopes of ever finding true romance?

Or is Levi destined to melt Henry’s heart as he discovers that chocolate truly is the food of love?

The Chocolate Works is a mouth-watering 85K-word standalone opposites-attract gay romantic comedy. Warning: Reading this book WILL make you crave your absolute favorite chocolates and demand you indulge in them while you read… one delicious, delectable, discipline-crushing mouthful at a time.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

The Chocolate Works is a powerful book by Geoffrey Knight. It's slow going but it's meaningful and packs a punch in the end.

The New Mexico setting is extremely well written. One can feel the town, with it's good and bad, as if they are there. The natives, traditions, beliefs, and culture are all well illustrated as well.

Henry's a man who's driven to NM out of desperation. Instead of finding the land he inherited and selling it, he finds the meaning to life, great friends, and love.

Levi's a drifter. At first, he comes off as just strange, with a simplistic speech pattern and a unique way of looking at life. In the end, he's a fascinating character who fully comes to life.

This is a tale full of surprises and a rare gift of making amazing chocolate. There are some serious twists and turns that I never saw coming.

The beginning of this story took me while to get through. The pace, the oddness of Levi, and the way Levi spoke all turned me off a bit. But then, wow, the story starts to set in and the things we discover made me more intrigued. I knew this book would remind me of the author's profound The Pearl.

The life lessons that are told in this story are extraordinary, and the story is beautiful in the way it unfolds.

In other words, The Chocolate Works is another magnificent book by Geoffrey Knight. He once again impresses me with the depth of the life lessons in this tale.

Chocolate, like the tender and tangled entwine of two lovers, must be many things—
It must be sweet and delicate, yet knowing of the power—and sometimes the balance—that its own darkness and bitterness can bring;
It must grant us the illusion, if only for a moment, that we are made wealthy by its richness, wicked by its decadence, and forgiven of all our sins in its utter purity;
It must be solid and firm, yet versatile enough to soften its edges and melt with grace when the moment is right;
It must bring comfort in hard times, abundance in lean times, and happiness in lonely times;
It must be made with hands that are strong yet gentle with their touch, watched over by eyes that are observant and careful in their measurement, and created by souls that have known and will never forget a need that must be fulfilled.
But most important of all—chocolate must be made with love.
For chocolate is love.
And love conquers all.
These are the things I learned from Levi Jones, a man as reckless and wild as he was passionate and kind; a man whose creative genius was matched only by his mystery; a man who added the dash of hope, the dollop of love and the sprinkling of surprises that would change my life forever.

Geoffrey Knight is the author of more than 30 gay fiction novels, novellas and short
stories, ranging in genre from gay adventure, gay romance, gay suspense and gay comedies.
The heroes of Geoffrey's books love to spend their time jumping off the page, seeking lost treasures, unraveling mysteries or falling in love.
Geoffrey is the recipient of two Rainbow Awards including Best Mystery Winner and Best Overall Gay Fiction Runner-up. His work has been featured in several anthologies including Best Gay Erotica 2013, and he appeared as Guest of Honor at the inaugural Rainbow Con in Florida, 2014.
Geoffrey has worked in advertising, politics, journalism and event management, but nothing is as fun as telling stories. He lives with his partner, their young daughter and their small furry family in a rambling old house in North Queensland, Australia, where the paint is fraying and life is good.
