Got Me Looking (Vet Shop Boys, #3) by Casey Cox

Amazon Link - Available in KU
Goodreads Link

A jilted groom and a guy who doesn’t believe in monogamy fall in love? Yeah. Right.

After getting cheated on at my own goddamn wedding, I’m through with men. I’m approaching fifty, and all I’ve ever wanted is to settle down, get married, and live happily ever after. But yeah, that hasn’t exactly worked out great for me.

The last person I expect to understand me is Tate. Sure, he’s cute, curious, and clever. A firecracker with no filter who somehow manages to stay friendly and genuine at the same time. But he isn’t exactly a settle-down kinda guy. Oh, and did I mention he’s also twenty years younger than me?

There’s no way something could ever happen between the two of us, so how is it possible that Tate has got me looking at love––and him––in a whole new light?

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Got Me Looking is a great romance by Casey Cox that explores types of love.

Earlier in the series, Gus was heartbroken upon discovering his husband was cheating on his at his own wedding reception. Ouch! This perfectly sets the tone for Gus's story and the reader's desire to see him find his happy ending.

Starting off his own love story, Gus is now set up with Tate as his "chaperone" for the night. The attraction is definitely there between these two, but Tate is open about being polyamorous, while Gus is monogamous.

With the two agreeing to a fake relationship for a short term, things get interesting as their time spent together leads to a strong connection.

Overall, their tale explores being poly versus monogamous, and the exploration of one's own sexuality. I applaud the author for the way this is all developed, in a true manner, never cheapening what it means to be poly. Instead we get an honest and raw internal conflict of one's own views.

I enjoy every moment of this story. It's a May to December romance in which the age gap is never an issue. The chemistry is amazing and the emotions felt throughout.

Got Me Looking is a wonderful read. Be sure to pick up this Casey Cox book if you're in the mood for a romance that shouldn't work out, but does. You won't regret it.

Got Me Hoping By Casey Cox

GotMeHoping_ecover

Vet Shop Boys, Book 1

It's just a one-night stand, they said. It'll be simple, no-strings fun, they said. They. Lied.

I'm done with love and being broken-hearted. The only dogs I want to deal with are the ones I treat in the veterinary clinic I work at.

But at thirty-four, having my first one-night stand can't hurt. Right? The rules are pretty simple.

1. Don't spend the night.
2. Don't see him again.
3. Don't share anything personal.
4. Don't fall in love with him.

But when Haze, the guy I spent a blazing hot night with and haven't been able to forget about, shows up as our new receptionist, the rules fly out the window.

There's no way one night could lead to anything more. So why has Haze got me hoping this might just last?

Got Me Hoping is book 1 in the Vet Shop Boys series and can be read as a stand-alone. Expect plenty of humor, found family, an adorable golden retriever, a foul-mouthed parrot, a whole new way of getting clean (as well as very, very dirty) and a heartwarming happily ever after!

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Get Me Hoping is a cute second chance kind of romance. This Casey Cox story is totally feel good.

These two start off with a hook-up that leaves Noah breaking his own rules. After all, his first rule is to not spend the night. Oops.

But later, they end up working together, breaking yet another rule of never seeing each other again.

I enjoy the way everything develops for these two. And it's great the way they each encourage the other. It's all very adorably sweet.

This is a story with a night night stand, co-workers, sexy soaps, and more.

Best of all is the main setting being the Vet Shop Clinic. I love the name. I enjoy the atmosphere. And it doesn't get better than pets being around, as well as all of the fabulous secondary characters.

Written in alternating first person pov, the characters fully pull you into their emotions. There's plenty of banter and steam as well.

Get Me Hoping is a sweet read. But best of all is the ending Casey Cox grants this couple. It's as good as it gets, both funny and uplifting.

GMH Teaser 5

All my bravado from the bar last night is gone. All that's left are memories of an incredible night colliding with the bleary morning light of the day after. His eyes soften, and he leans in toward me right as I glance over at the table. Oh, shit. Noah was going to kiss me. I turn, inching my lips closer to his face just as he starts to move toward the kitchen. He backs up, but trips over his feet.

Not. Awkward. At. All.

"Plates," I say, slapping my hands against my thighs way too hard. "Let me help you get some plates." Yeah, because carrying two plates a few feet is definitely a two-man operation.

A few moments later, we start eating. I ended up carrying both plates and bringing the cutlery, too...so, that's a good thing? Man, I really suck at this. There's a reason why I never spend the night.

I haven't had many hookups since Daniel broke up with me. With other guys, it's always been sex followed by a quick goodbye. I never hung around afterward. One time I showered and watched half an episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, but that's about it.

But for some reason with Noah, there's a part of me that doesn't want to leave. It makes no sense. We glance up at each other every so often while we eat, sharing a silent exchange that I can't explain.

The only sound in the kitchen is us chewing and Buddy breathing loudly at Noah's feet. I liked it a whole lot more when other sounds were filling the space around us. But I guess that's all in the past. Once we get through the nominee for Most Awkward Breakfast at the One-Night Stand Awards, that's all this will ever be.

A memory.

My heart sinks at the thought.

I've been wanting to do this 'authoring' thing since forever. But this thing called 'life' kept getting in the way. And then this thing called 'turning 40' happened. Eep!

So I did what any responsible newcomer to middle-age-hood would do: I quit my day job, started drinking copious amounts of coffee, and reconnected with my life long passion--donuts, er, I mean writing.

So here I am. And there you are... Hello!

I live on the east coast of Australia, I'm the proud paw-rent of two of the most utterly adorable French Bulldogs, Ralphie and Lilly, and when I'm not writing, you'll most likely catch me down at the beach (I'm the one drinking Rosé and eating donuts while other people are doing healthy things like 'walking' and 'swimming').

Faraway (Escape #3) by Casey Cox

Amazon Link   - Available in KU

Ever woken up after you’ve been struck by lightning only to discover you’ve got the skills to be a world-class pianist? *crickets* So ... just me then?

It might have been the most terrifying ordeal of my life, but at least it got me the heck outta Blessing, Texas, out of the clutches of my homophobic family, and away from a pack of high school bullies that tried to make every day a living nightmare.

Keyword: tried.

Even as a kid, I never let anyone succeed in beating me down. I knew that as soon as I could, I’d be outta that small town and leaving the crappy start I’d had in life behind forever… Or so I thought. Until I came face to face with one of my former bullies at the last place I ever expected to run into him—on vacation at a luxury, all-male resort.

The thing is my life’s going great. I am who I am: free, fierce, and fabulous. I’m an accomplished pianist and truly loving the person I am today. Him? That’s a whole other story. And one that, despite my better judgment, sucks me in. It’s a weird feeling, seeing a former tormenter failing at life. It’s even stranger to start developing feelings for him.

But after all these years of getting as far away from my former life as possible, what are the chances I fall for the one guy who takes me back to it all?

FARAWAY is a zero angst, high school enemies-to-lovers rom-com style MM romance. It features a flamboyant guy living his best life who reunites with a reformed bully trapped by his past.

You can expect plenty of gasps, giggles, and OMG moments including killer kaftans, a comedy act so bad it’s just...bad, rainy rooftop sex, self-forgiveness, and a happily ever after that will make you feel like you’ve just returned from the best vacation ever.
(Please consult with your medical professional before undertaking any travel.)

FARAWAY is part of the super sweet, light and fluffy ESCAPE series. There are no cliffhangers (ew) and no cheating, either (double ew).

You can read the books in whatever order your heart desires!

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Faraway is the third book in the Escape series by Casey Cox.

From the start, I enjoyed this book a lot. It's a bully turned lover romance that had me fully intrigued.

The author excels in illustrating that one can change their past. One can overcome their mistakes. One can turn their life around.

These two are sweet together, as well as extremely connected during sex.

Two things are definitely interesting in this one. Not only is it intriguing to see a bully regret his choices and try to spend his life making amends. But, this story follows Emry's life changes after getting struck by lightening. It's an interesting and life changing event for sure.

I definitely enjoyed this story, although it left my mind drifting a couple of times. But, overall, it's a nice story of healing and second chances.

Faraway is a perfect example that one can change their life around. This Casey Cox tale is definitely a great choice the next time you're in the mood for a bully to lover romance.

Runaway (Escape #2) by Casey Cox

Amazon Link   - Available in KU

Ever woken up and realized your life is one big cliché?

Waking up married in Vegas? Been there, done that… Twice.
Base-jumping off Mount Fuji in Japan? That's, like, a chill weekend.
Partying in France with supermodels? Meh, très overrated.

Despite being born into the most powerful family in the highly prestigious cowbell industry (yeah, you read that right)—I’m feeling more than just a little lost. So, partying and living it up has become my default avoidance coping mechanism.

Until I spot him one night on vacation staring out into the dark ocean, looking all sorts of Cali-cute.

When he speaks, he catches my interest.
When he serves me back my own sassiness with an added helping of nerdy smarts, he burrows into my brain.
And when he peers up at me through sun-kissed lashes with those glittery eyes and smiles?
Damn, he captures my heart like no one ever has.

But how do you keep the one you want to be with forever from slipping through your fingers?

RUNAWAY is a woke-up-married, fake relationship (after insta-love) rom-com style MM romance. It features a loveable bad boy getting up to no good (for all the right reasons) who meets a boy with a bucket list.

You can expect plenty of gasps, giggles, and OMG moments including Fermi pickup lines, terrible...y good karaoke, cowbells, mystery midnight walks, a life-changing ATM glitch, one outrageous grandmother who intends to take full advantage of an all-male clothing optional resort, small townspeople that will melt your heart with their kindness, and a happily ever after that will make you feel like you’ve just returned from the best vacation ever.
(Piña coladas and other creatively named cocktails not included.)

RUNAWAY is part of the super sweet, light and fluffy ESCAPE series. There are no cliffhangers (ew) and no cheating either (double ew). You can read the books in whatever order your heart desires!

My Rating - 3.5 Stars!

Runaway is a nice read by Casey Cox. I don't love it, but I did enjoy it.

This is a mix of insta love and fake marriage.

I think my issue is that it took me too long to feel a connection between the men. Jedfire is definitely not for me, but eventually won me over. But damn, he's totally the kind of character I loathe.

But eventually, his actions won me over. Conrad too.

The storyline is way out there, but I still enjoyed it. Definitely skip this one if you are a stickler about realism.

But if you are okay with over the top storylines, you might just like this one.

Runaway is an okay addition to this series. Overall, I enjoyed this Casey Cox book.

Escape, Book 1

Ever woken up and realized you're in love with your childhood best friend?

I've got three big problems.

One, I'm in love with my childhood best friend.

Two, he hates any kind of change with a capital H.

Three, he thinks I'm straight.

To be honest, up until recently, I thought I was straight, too. But something’s shifting in me. I don’t know what it is exactly, but I can feel it. We tell each other everything, so I want to tell Cassius this.

I figure a tropical weekend getaway is the perfect time to do it. I mean, what could possibly happen that would change our lives forever?

GETAWAY is a best friends-to-lovers, gay-for-you contemporary/new adult MM romance.

It features two childhood best friends, newly invented dance moves, dubious dietary claims, and some creatively named cocktails. You can expect more than a few gasps, giggles, and OMG moments on the way to a satisfying happily ever after that will make you feel like you’ve just returned from the best vacation ever. Getaway is the first book in the Escape series by Casey Cox. I definitely enjoyed it, but I also struggled with some of it.

It's long and very detailed. It took me a while to fully be grabbed by it, as it takes a while for everything to fully click for the men. The first third of the book is very slow going. I understand that it's used to set some of the personalities and the scene for later, but it didn't need to be so detailed and so long.

Eventually, there's a sexual awakening for Spencer when he realizes he's in love with his best friend. It's definitely slow going for him, but I love when everything finally clicks for him.

Overall, I enjoy the way things unfold for these two. The best of friends, who are always so touchy feely with each other, becoming lovers, is awesome. And damn, they are hot together.

The men are complete opposites which makes for some funny moments. Just little things that made me chuckle. And omg, Cass's love of food definitely had me laughing.

I kind of wish Cass had been aware of his feelings sooner and with more of an intensity. I felt like I missed something. Heck, maybe I did. I also felt something was off with the declaration scene. Having the men hold off on talking definitely felt forced.

Their tale is one of first times and sexual exploration. It's a tale with plenty of nudity and bravery.

The vacation resort is a delightful setting for this adventure. I definitely enjoyed all the little resort/vacation details.

Overall, Getaway is a nice friends to lovers tale. This Casey Cox book is enjoyable and the ending is fabulous. I'm excited to see what else happens in this series.

The meal had been exquisite. The company and conversation, first-rate. It couldn’t have gone more smoothly even if I had planned it. Which, of course, I had. Down to the very minute. And post-food—once Cassius was fed and happy, but before he fell into a food coma—was the moment I would tell him.

I took a sip of the sparkling water, suddenly wishing the bubbles were of the alcoholic variety. I still had absolutely zero freaking idea how to begin this. A million possible suggestions were whirring about in my brain—

So, Cass, funny thing, I think I might be… Nope. Dead end.

Hey, Cass, did you ever in your wildest dreams expect me to beBah-bow. Another dead end.

Come on, Cass, do you believe in love? ’Cause I’ve got something to say about it, and it goes something like this… Whoops, that was the start of a Madonna jam.

Listen up, Cass, I’ve got something to tell you

Hmm. Seemed like I’d just found a winner.

He squinted his eyes at me. “You look like you’ve got something to say, Spence.”

I nodded, wiping the corners of my mouth with the napkin. I placed it on my lap, my fingers fidgeting nervously with it. “I do, actually.”

This was it. This was the moment I was going to tell him my truth. I took one deep, final breath and opened my mouth to speak—
