Letting Go (The Knights Club #2) by C.J. Baty

Blurb

Calypso knew he looked good. He loved bright colors, makeup, and most of all, high heels. The higher the better. The sassy mouth and self-assured man he presented to the outside world wasn’t how he felt on the inside. At the Knights Club he hide the self-doubt and depression. Until, Benedict Hart walked in bringing all his old demons back to life.

Benedict Hart was a high-priced gigolo. It’s not what he started out in life to do but it paid the bills. Meeting Calypso at the Knights Club turned his world upside down. The man was sexy, smart mouthed and completely sure of himself. He made Benedict want things he hadn’t thought about in years. Losing a dear friend spurs him into action, but will his past get in their way?

The Knights Club hosts a group of characters diverse in every way, but they are family. Xavier Knight watches over them as if they were his children. And, like most families, things don’t always run smoothly.

My Rating - 4  Stars!

Letting Go is the second book in CJ Baty's The Knights Club series. It's fun, riveting and sexy.

Calypso was thrown out of his home by his homophobic father who hated that Calypso is gay and feminine. He's now a sassy and confident man, in public, that is. Inside he's still suffering and is lost.

When Calypso sees Benedict, he is tripped up from his striking appearance. It just so happens that Benedict finds Calypso to be exotic and hot.

Personally, I love and adore Calypso's sass and femme side. He's loveable, funny and charming. Who the hell owns that many pairs of heels? You just have to love that part of him. As for the real personality of Calypso, it's sad and emotional to read about his problems.

In this tale, we are reminded to not waste time, never assume you have tomorrow, so take action today. We follow along as the men face confidence issues, confusion, and more, as they work their way towards a wonderful kind of love.

And since we're at the Knights Club, we get more of our favorite guys, Xavier and Seb!

Letting Go is on par with the other books I've read by CJ Baty. It's entertaining, gripping and very enjoyable. I am so glad that I discovered CJ's books and look forward to reading more in the future.

RELEASE BLITZ - Starting Over (The Knights Club Series #1) by CJ Baty

Cover Design: Kelly Abell @ Select-O-Grafix

Length: 25,000 words approx.

Blurb

Xavier Knight was starting his life over. A new city. A new club. The past was gone, and he had everything to look forward to… except… love. That ship had sailed, never to return. He was too old to play the games or stack up the one night stands. Until, an old enemy’s son walked into his club and his heart.

Sebastian Brady was through. Through with hiding who he was. Through letting his brother officers dictate his life. And completely through, with his family telling him who he was. He turned his back on his badge and his family’s heritage in the Atlanta police force. But, he never imagined that he’d be serving drinks in a gay bar and working for the hottest silver fox he had ever seen in his life.

Xavier and Seb have a lot to learn from each other. Hopefully, their growing love will survive Xavier’s past, Seb’s family, and a host of characters with secrets of their own, who all work at the Knights Club.

Story Background

The Knights Club (formerly the Gentleman’s Club) first appeared in the Warfield Hotel Mysteries Series. It was owned by Stony Whitecastle and is located in Atlanta, GA. At the beginning of the Knights Club/Starting Over, Stony is selling the club to Xavier Knight. He renames the club the Knights Club and instead of a private club opens it the public. Some patrons still hold membership though.

This series involves Xavier and his crew of employees and their involvement with a local police family. We meet Sebastian Brady in Starting Over along with his dysfunctional family. Seb’s struggle with his homophobic oldest brother and the shadow of his dead father, Detective Delmonico Brady, haunts Seb as he tries to make a new life for himself.

Occasionally, a character from the Warfield Hotel series will pop up but they are not central to the story line. Everyone who works at the Knights Club has a past and secret they are running from. They are mixed bag of people who have been suffered many things. The Knights Club is their home and the people who work there are their families. But, even families don’t like each other all the time…

REVIEW
My Rating - 4 Stars!

CJ Baty's Starting Over is book one in her Knights Club Series. As with her Warfield Hotel series, it is a good, light-hearted mystery.

This story revolves around Xavier's new club, and his new hire, Sebastian. Both men have backgrounds in previous books, but you can easily get a feeling for them without having read the others.

Sebastian was formerly a cop, but got tired of all the homophobia within his work place. As he starts working for Xavier, who is still reeling from losing his lover two years ago, the chemistry is undeniable, and the sparks are flying!

They have to deal with the hesitancy of getting involved with an employee, some family issues, and a mystery that takes place in the bar. In the end, they help each other, as Xavier is able to start moving on from his loss, and Seb has never felt happier. Their relationship is tender, hot and super sweet.

CJ Baty does a great job developing and pacing her mysteries. Add in some nice and fun characters, like Xavier and Seb, and you're guaranteed to enjoy your time in this author created world. I know I can't wait to read the next book in this series. If it's anything like Starting Over, it will be wonderful.

C. J. Baty lives in southwest Ohio. Her heart, however, lives in the mountains of Tennessee where she hopes to retire some day. The mountains have always provided her with inspiration and a soothing balm to the stresses of everyday life.

The dream of writing her own stories started in high school but was left on the back burner of life until her son introduced her to fan fiction and encouraged her to give it a try. She found that her passion for telling a story was still there and writing them down to share with others was much more thrilling than she had ever expected.

She has a loving and supportive family who don't mind fixing their own meals when she is in the middle of a story, and a network of friends who have encouraged and cheered her on in her quest of being an author.

One thing she has learned from life and she is often heard to say is: “You are never too old to follow your dream!”

GRL 2018 SPOTLIGHT - CJ Baty - Island Paradise

In my attempt to cover some of the attending authors for this year's GRL,
I am reviewing

CT Baty's Island Paradise!

BLURB

Gar Lancaster wasn't depressed, no matter what his sister, Nellie, said. He didn't need a trip to a tropical island to meet some guy for a vacation romance. Sex was easy, he could get that. Love and commitment, those were two other things entirely. But when Mike Peters kissed him on the balcony under a sea of stars with the pounding waves hitting the shore below them, things changed.

Maybe, he didn't need a happily ever after. Maybe happily for right now was okay. Whatever happened, Gar was pretty sure he was in way over his head.

"So, when are you going after him?" Nellie had asked that question for six months.

Now he was on his way back to Dasia Island for a friends wedding. Happily for right now hadn't worked for Gar. He missed Mike and what they had shared on the island. The question was did Mike feel the same way. There was only one way to find out if there was a happily ever after in his future. Face Mike and ask him.

REVIEW
My Rating - 5 Stars!

Island Paradise has everything one could ask for in a vacation romance. CJ Baty has definitely hit all the marks with this one.

When Gar's sister forces him to vacation with her, she suggests he has a fling. Gar isn't one who's looking for a fling though, he's a relationship guy.  Then he meets Mike, and finds himself falling for the guy.

The adventures they go on as Mike shows Gar the island are fun, exciting and atmospheric. And the adventures they go on in the bedroom are steamy as well as romantic.

But, Gar is only there for a vacation. He never expected to still be thinking of the guy months later. Luckily he's headed back to the Island for a wedding. Can they reunite?

The story is entertaining, and I enjoyed the premise a lot. It's a short and quick romance for when you are looking for something light.

REVIEW
My Rating - 4 Stars!

I am not a huge fan of mysteries, but I found myself really enjoying Drifting Sands. This CJ Baty novel may be a mystery, but it's more of a light and fun mystery, thus keeping my attention and having me enjoying it.

There are men being murdered around Justin's hotel, and they are all his ex-lovers. Is someone framing him? Marcus happens to be there at the time and he's thrilled as the sparks fly between him and Justin, as he's been enamored by him for years.

This story contains a fun mystery, some light angst, and a nice romance. It's well written, with a fun plot and a nice, light tone, despite the deaths taking place.

Justin and Marcus may want to be together, but it will be a tough and crazy road. They have to deal with the murders, the suspicions around them, an crazy soon-to-be ex-wife, a father who forced Justin into the closet, and the issue of coming out. And, of course, the mystery isn't over yet, as this ends in a cliffhanger.

Drifting Sands is my kind of mystery, and I will be checking out the other books in this Warfield Hotel Mysteries by CJ Baty.
