GRL 2018 SPOTLIGHT - May Archer - Way Home Series

In my attempt to cover some of the attending authors for this year's GRL,
I am reviewing

The Way Home Series by May Archer!

BLURB

Find your Way Home with the complete 3-book Way Home series, along with a bonus short story that's never been available on Amazon before!

The Easy Way: When Kendrick Cortland's investigation into his brother's disappearance leads him to Seaver Tech and Camden Seaver, his quest for information and revenge quickly turns into far more than either man bargained for. Will Cam and Cort let conflicting loyalties and long-buried secrets drive them apart? Or will they decide that sometimes love is the easy way?

The Long Way: Damon Fitzpatrick has sworn to bring down Senator Shaw, then man who ruined his life. But when his quest for justice goes awry, Cain Shaw, the senator’s only son, becomes Damon’s unlikely savior, and the two are thrown together in a hunt for evidence that will free them both. As the road gets longer, the stakes get higher, and the danger that stalks them draws closer, they realize the one complication they can’t outrun is each other.

The Right Way: Sebastian Seaver is obsessed with destroying Alexei Stornovich, the man responsible for the deaths of his fiancée and parents -- no small task for anyone, even someone as brilliant as Bas. It’s made even more complicated by the growing attraction he’s feeling to his best friend Drew… who also happens to be his fiancée’s older brother. With Alexei targeting them and their friends, Drew and Bas are forced to rely on each other more than ever. Will they recognize that the only right way to move forward is the one in which they’re together?

Bonus short story:
The Way Back: High school ended a long time ago, and Peter’s not the same sappy idiot who used to trail after his older brother’s straight best friend. So it shouldn’t matter that Logan is back in town for one night only, or that he and Peter end up at the same outrageous house party. The only problem is, Cupid can’t seem to keep his nose out of their business.

REVIEW
My Rating - 4 Stars!

May Archer's Way Home Series is a great mystery novel interwoven with some nice romance.

The Easy Way involves Cam and Cort who fall in love despite some light angst. The two men are good together, and certainly very hot together. The mystery is fun and leads perfectly into the next book.

The Long Way continues where The Easy Way left off. In this one, we continue to learn more of the pieces to the mystery, while watching Damon and Cain fall in love. They are a hot May to December couple that contains a nice twist leading into book three.

The Right way is the conclusion to the series. It contains a nice friends to lovers romance between Drew and Bas. Personally, I love friends to lovers and this one is just so good and complicated. Well done.

All three novels have a good amount of action and suspense. The banter and wit is enjoyable. And I enjoy all the couples. If you liked a good mystery/action/romance combo, don't miss out on this series.

GRL 2018 SPOTLIGHT - Piper Scott & Virginia Kelly - Clutch (Forbidden Desires #1)

In my attempt to cover some of the attending authors for this year's GRL,
I am reviewing

Clutch
by Piper Scott
(with Virginia Kelly) !

BLURB

Bookish, snarky, and fiercely independent Nate Boudreaux leads a solitary life. Between teaching classes at the university and working toward his PhD, he doesn’t need a partner to occupy his time, and he certainly doesn’t need a man like Alistair Drake complicating his future.

Alistair Drake, black sheep of the tremendously wealthy Drake family, is more interested in adding another notch to his bedpost than another zero to his bank account. When a Grindr message brings him to Nate’s doorstep, then straight to his bed, he has no reason to believe that what they share will be more than a simple hookup, until, three months later, a tug on his soul informs him otherwise.

For the Drake family has a secret—one that will force Nate and Alistair together as much as it will demand that they be torn apart. One that Alistair and his brothers have carried all their lives… and one that Alistair and Nate’s future children will carry, too.

Bound to each other by the three precious impossibilities, Nate and Alistair have no choice—no matter the consequence, they will fight for their forbidden clutch.

Clutch is a 64,000 word steamy omegaverse mpreg-ish romance that will leave you in stitches. It contains a Grindr hook-up gone very wrong (or very right); giant magical lizards; a pig named Olive; a wank throne; and a HEA, right down to the white picket fence.

REVIEW
My Rating - 4 Stars!

Clutch is not my usual read, but I dug in and gave it a try. As I don't normally read about dragons and lizards, I was hesitant to continue but it's definitely well written with some great characters. Nate and Allister are a lot of fun and I definitely enjoy the banter and bickering between them. What starts as a one night stand leads to so much more as the men start falling for each other while they're protecting their eggs.

Despite not being my normal choice of storylines, I am not surprised to find it enjoyable since Piper Scott and Lynn Van Dorn (Virginia Kelly's contemporary ego) are two authors I love.

Piper Scott

Piper Scott is the brainchild of three romance authors who realized that while telling stories is almost guaranteed to be fun, telling them with someone else is even better.

We hope you enjoy yourself in our stories - and remember that love always wins.

Virginia Kelly

Virginia is the alter ego of Lynn Van Dorn, writer of MM contemporary romances. Virginia listens to the voices in her head that are far too fantastical and silly for Lynn. If it's mystical or otherworldly, Virginia is all for it.

In her spare time (ha!) she herds three cats, twelve rats, a pesky husband, and a son. Also a host of noisy fictional characters.

BLURB

Sam Hayward's parents think he has a boyfriend. And he does... in his dreams. But when they insist Sam bring his partner to the annual Labor Day family reunion, his options are to either admit it was all a lie or find a stand-in in a hurry. The trouble is that his lies have all been based on one very real man.

Ben Matheny has been hurt before. When he's bribed into playing a part by his friends, he fleshes out Sam's dreams, but it's like flying too close to the sun. He's always had a crush on Sam, and now they're going to the Hamptons to spend a weekend pretending they're lovers, everything is getting harder.

When Ben uncovers another lie Sam has told - that Ben is every bit as rich as Sam is - things begin to unravel. If Sam isn't happy with who Ben is, Ben can't stick around to get burned again.

With their hearts on the line, the two must fight for their dreams as the pressure mounts. It would be so easy to admit that it was all a sham, but some dreams are worth the risk.

My Rating -  5 Stars!

Exposure is the first book in Aly Hayden's Drawn Together series. It is a fun and wonderful fake boyfriend romance.

Ben and Sam become fake boyfriends to fool Sam's family, as Sam needs them to stop pressuring him to date. Both men have liked each other, but never told the other.

During their time together, they have to deal with their families being completely opposite in personality, as well as lifestyle and wealth.

One of my favorite moments is Ben in the swim trunks!  Omg. Loved it.

Their journey is full of fear of rejection, hesitancy, courage, making changes, and bravery, in addition to lies and deceptions. Their story is interesting, flirty, and completely entertaining.

I am happy to have discovered Exposure and will be reading Aly's other books!

Aly Hayden

Aly Hayden has loved writing ever since they learned to pick up a pencil. As a child, they used to write short stories, then progressed to novels of various genres, none of which were ever published - for a good reason.  They started writing fanfiction in 2011, publishing on Archive Of Our Own. After finding M/M romance in 2012, they fell in love and made it their mission to write one of their own one day. When Aly isn't writing, they can be found playing with their lovable Yorkie and watching old reruns of House Hunters.
