Of Secrets and Wolves (Winsford Shifters #1) by Alice Winters

Amazon Link   - Available in KU

Rowan

My whole life, I’ve been taught to despise shifters. So when I’m hired to track two escaped convicts, I’m suddenly thrust into the world I hate—or thought I did. Yet I’m inexplicably drawn to the alpha of the pack whose land the convicts may be hiding on. He’s different than any shifter I've ever met—laid back and quick to laugh, caring and protective, and makes me feel complete for the first time in my life. As secrets are revealed, I start to wonder if everything I’ve been raised to believe was a lie, though it may not matter because it seems like someone wants us dead.

Quinn

I’m no stranger to prejudice from humans, but it’s different when Rowan comes into my life. Though I shouldn’t let myself be distracted, I’m captivated by him. At first, he’s stiff, fighting to keep his misconstrued beliefs intact, but as I break down the wall he’s created, I’m able to show him a place among the fun chaos of my pack. After one of my pack goes missing, it leaves Rowan and me racing to bring them home, but the only way we’re going to survive this is if Rowan learns to accept the bond that’s growing between us—a bond that could give us the strength to put aside our reservations and give in to what both of us want.

Of Secrets and Wolves is an action-filled romance with a dash of comedy. It’s the first book in a series with a continuing storyline and an HFN.

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Of Secrets and Wolves is the first book in Alice Winter's Winsford Shifters. It also happens to be her first shifter book, and it's great.

It doesn't take long for us to meet Quinn, and once we do, the story takes off. I adore the fact that Quinn isn't the typical alpha. And I love the way the two interact.

Soon the tracker Rowan and the alpha Quinn are off in search of the escaped convicts. Their journey includes plenty of suspense about the search, as well as developing feelings for one another. A human and a shifter! Bring it on!

Rowan's been raised to not trust shifters, so his working with one adds to the fun. And I love that they can only fight their feelings for so long.

In an effort to not spoil anything, I don't want to say too much about the actually storyline. But there are some fantastic twists and turns, along the way of this mystery/action tale.

This one isn't quite the humor we've come to know in an Alice Winters book. But, it is still full of humor, banter, and charming characters. There's plenty of one liners and laughs, as well as fur and catnip! And, wow, I love the variety of animals involved.

The writing style continues to be wonderful. Written in alternating 1st person pov, the characters are fully brought to life. The storyline is great, with lots to keep the reader entertained. And best of all, the author excels at writing dialogue. The mystery is well done, with many aspects to it along the way.

Overall, Of Secrets and Wolves is an entertaining shifter romance. Alice Winters excels in her combination of serious moments, action, humor, and romance. As this is an ongoing series, Alice leaves us with a HFN ending, and left me excited to see what comes next.

They believe they only need each other, until they collide with their soul mate.

Jax is an omega, Hugo is human, and their love is forbidden. They’ve spent the last seven years on the streets, relying on no one but each other.

When they collide with Dominic, they realise something has always been missing. Jax is keen to get to know the alpha, but Hugo resists the mate-call, worrying that, as a human, there will be no room for him.

The only way they can be free to love each other is to escape the UK, but will Dominic leave his life behind to find home with two younger men?

Run Free is an alternate universe MMM shifter novel, with fated mates, mpreg, an age-gap relationship, and a happy ending.

My Rating - 3.5 Stars!

Run Free is an entertaining shifter menage romance by Colette Davison.

I am extremely impressed with the way the author handled the world building of this alternate universe at the beginning. It sums up everything perfectly, in a fun way.

As for the story itself, it's riveting and compelling, with three likable characters. Jax and Hugo have a complex, painful past. When they meet Dominic, everything is set to change. The connection is instant, but they certainly have a long fight ahead to be together. On the run, they have to find the right place to settle if they want to be safe.

I enjoy the dynamics of the men, with two being shifters and the third a human. This creates a complication that drives the storyline. Their story includes a fight for freedom, with many breath-taking moments, in addition to the heat of the three.

Run Free is an emotional read, with Colette Davison bringing the reader into the thoughts and feelings throughout. It's a good romance, with an intriguing world that would be fun to read more of.

As they rounded a corner, Jax collided with a muscular guy in a smart suit. The hairs on the back of Hugo’s arms stood up as a pulse of electricity swept through him. He grabbed Jax’s arm, steadying him so he didn’t fall.

“We’ve got to go,” he hissed, tugging his lover’s arm.

Jax didn’t move. He was staring at the man in the suit, breathing harshly. The shopkeeper’s yells were getting closer, yet Hugo couldn’t resist glancing at the man they’d bumped into. He found himself noticing every tiny detail in a matter of seconds. The guy was gorgeous, with dark hair that had been cut into a short, neat style and grey eyes with a dark brown ring around the pupil. His cheekbones were sharp and pronounced, and he had a couple days’ worth of stubble. He smelt of rainy days and damp moss. Hugo’s stare tracked to the man’s neck, where he saw the rice grain-sized bump of a chip beneath his skin. He was a shifter. Judging by the man’s size and the way Jax was quivering, he had to be an alpha. Hugo felt like he was being pulled towards the man, which was a dangerous sensation, considering how close the shopkeeper’s shouts sounded.

“We’ve got to go,” Hugo insisted, tugging Jax harder. They couldn’t get caught.

“Go,” the alpha said.

His voice was deep and velvety, the kind of voice you could listen to all day and not get bored of. It was a voice Hugo could happily get wrapped up in. Damn, why was he thinking that way, and why was his skin tingling in the alpha’s presence?

He shook himself.

“Run,” the man told them in a commanding growl, stepping aside so he was no longer blocking the path.

Jax pushed him forward, and suddenly, they were running again. Hugo felt a sickening wrench in his stomach, which made him falter, but he quickly found his feet again. Nothing mattered but getting as far away from the shopkeeper as possible.

Colette’s personal love story began at university, where she met her future husband. An evening of flirting, in the shadow of Lancaster castle, eventually led to a fairytale wedding. She’s enjoying her own ‘happy ever after’ in the north of England with her husband, two beautiful children and her writing.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Surprised Daddy, the second book in Liam Kingsley's Timberwood Cove series, is a great shifter romance.

A
fter meeting single dad Linc in Homerun Daddy, I am excited to see him find love for himself. Following the theme in the first book, this one involves a shifter falling for a human. I wasn't sure if this would be too close to the plot in the previous book, but it definitely wasn't, which is a relief.

Linc is a wolf shifter who discovers his fated mate is a human, Sean. What follows is an emotional relationship between a man who longs to have more kids and a man who's infertile and feels unworthy. Oh how I love both these men!

The plot is well done, both interesting, charming, and riveting. The writing in general is great,  and the characters are extremely loveable.

Surprised Daddy is a enchanting tale. This Liam Kingsley read has me excited to finish this series.

Blurb

Not only is Jaxon a born Alpha, he is also one by choice. Or at least, he's about to be. His adoptive father wants to pass on leadership of the Timberwood Cove Pack to him but Jaxon has reservations. Why? Because this shifter wants his mate.

When Jaxon scents his fated mate at a local diner, he knows it’s only a matter of time before he claims the man. But their courtship is complicated. Even though Bryce is an omega he has no idea shifters exist. What's more, he blames a wolf for the death of his sister and his current painful circumstances.

After causing an accident that left his sister dead and himself with chronic injuries, Bryce can’t screw up raising his nephew. Money is tight and Bryce’s new disabilities make caring for a young boy even more difficult. When he meets Jaxon, the man is too good to be true; a caring alpha who coaches his nephew’s baseball team and looks at Bryce with heat and tenderness.

Will their rapidly growing family strikeout? Or will they be a home run?

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Homerun Daddy is the first book in Liam Kingsley's Omegaverse series, Timberwood Cove.

This is a fun and cute read, all lead by Jaxon being the next in line to lead his pack. Jaxon is full of self doubts, thinking he's not worthy of leading his pack. And in a in stellar move, the shifter Jaxon falls in love with a human, Bryce. Their connection is strong, but Jaxon struggles to explain to Bryce that he's a shifter.

I love Bryce and especially his nephew Liam, whom Bryce is raising. After all, Liam is the boy who brings them together. And, omg, I love Jaxon's relationship with Liam.

Their story is one of grief and guilt. It includes custody issues, an injury, and finding someone to help care for you, including healing your pain and anguish.

This shifter romance is immediately engrossing. It's fun, easy, and light-hearted, as well as super hot and steamy. I love the author's writing style, which includes a non stop and romantic plot. Told in alternating 1st person pov, the reader is easily able to get into the character's minds, fully bringing them alive.

Homerun Daddy is a great story that keeps your interest throughout. Liam Kingsley does a wonderful job entwining fated mates with some interesting complications and strong chemistry. It's perfect when you're in the mood for a sweet and fluffy shifter romance.
