MF- Tutoring the Player (Campus Wallflowers #1) by Rebecca Jenshak

Tutoring the Player by Rebecca Jenshak is now live!

I have a type.

I love the good guy.

Responsible and stable. Safe.

So when a beer-drinking, quick-witted, tattooed hockey player asks me to tutor him, I'm suddenly thrust into the world of bad boys and bad decisions.

Jordan is a renowned player on campus.

He doesn’t take anything seriously, except hockey and partying.

But he gives me butterflies.

I’m a wallflower tutoring Valley University’s hottest player.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Tutoring the Player is a riveting college sports romance. The first book in the Campus Wallflower series, I can't wait to read the rest of this Rebecca Jenshak series.

This is pure fun and deliciousness!

There's opposites attract, falling for the tutor, and plenty more.

Daisy and Jordan make for a fabulous couple. She's the quiet wallflower, while he's the popular, life of the party athlete. They certainly don't seem like they'd make a good couple, but hot damn, they definitely do!

I adore the way their friendship develops, with all the nice getting to know each other moments. I enjoy the tension between them, and I love their chemistry together.

Tutoring the Player is a perfect choice the next time you're in the mood for some college romance fun. As usual, Rebecca Jenshak will keep you entertained throughout with some humor, some heat, and a delightful storyline.

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW - MF -Good Guys Don't Lie (The Boys #4) by Micalea Smeltzer

Good Guys Don't Lie by Micalea Smeltzer is now live!

I've been nothing but a failure to my parents my entire life. I know I'll never live up to their level of perfection, but it doesn't matter. Especially, when I'm about to fail the same class twice.

It seems like I'm doomed until my professor tells me he knows the perfect guy to tutor me—if he'll agree.

Cree Madison is the star player on the hockey team, bound for NHL superstardom, and my last hope. I'm willing to do almost anything for his help.

When I meet up with him, his eyes light up and he says, "I've been looking for you."

Only I don't know him, and I've never met him before now.

I'm willing to pretend to be whoever he wants me to be if it means I pass this class.

But lies have a way of getting out of hand and neither one of us is prepared for the fallout when everything comes to light.

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Good Guys Don't Lie is the fourth book in The Boys series. This Micalea Smeltzer series is a fun college sports series, which is one of my favorites.

Cree and Ophelia are both likeable characters. I enjoy that Cree is much more than a student athlete. He is determined, thoughtful, and wonderfully swoony. Meanwhile Ophelia is way more than one would expect. She's sweet for sure and amazingly well developed. She has autism which is written is a refreshing way. The author excels in illustrating the way an autistic brain works differently and causes some problems with social issues for an autistic person. I absolutely love how this is all done and appreciate that she is shown as awkward at times, but never "less than." Well done.

This one is definitely unique with a confusing and unexpected second chance. I don't want to spoil anything, but when Cree finally finds Ophelia again, she doesn't remember him. I could feel his emotions for her were genuine, but the author left me waiting to figure out why. It makes for a nice little guessing game.

I am thrilled to finally get to Cree's story and enjoy it but something kept me from absolutely loving it the way I have other books in the series. I think it might be the lying game they were both playing. With both characters lying for so long, it kept them from truly being open and honest with one another.

Overall Good Guys Don't Lie is a cute college romance. This Micalea Smeltzer read is low angst, high steam, and kept me entertained throughout. As for now, I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!!

Topher-

My friend’s brother needs an academic assistant and I need a job. Problem…jocks are my weakness. Seriously. I lose my ability to speak coherently around muscle-bound hotties. Oh yeah, I lose my inhibitions too—not a good look for a guy with a genius IQ. So what am I going to do about Simon?

Simon-

Finishing college isn’t high on my list of priorities, but my future in professional football is looking bleak. I need a plan B or C, and I could use some help navigating life as an undergrad. Topher is perfect. He’s also a little strange…but in a good way. And I like the way I feel when I’m around him—as though anything is possible. Maybe if we follow our hearts, we’ll find what we’re looking for. But that means changing the rules…

Following the Rules is a MM, bisexual awakening romance starring a lovable nerd, a cool jock, and some extracurricular fun.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Following the Rules is a fabulous new adult romance. The first book in Lane Hayes' The Script Club, I enjoyed every single second of this book.

Omg, everything about this book is delightful and fun.

Topher and Simon are such complete opposites, but they're so entertaining together.

Topher is a total charmer. He's so damn awkward with his anxiety and complete inability to talk naturally. The way he is with scientific facts is perfectly written. Hell, I live with a teen who is exactly like this. I love it all. Add in his love of sex and his crush on Simon, and it's all completely mesmerizing.

As for the conflict, well, that part is heartbreaking. I felt every emotion along with the men.

Then there's Simon. Simon's a big tough jock who's at a crossroads in his career. He desperately wants back on the field, but he's taking classes in the meantime. As well, his insecurity about his classes makes him a sympathetic character.

I seriously adore this book. Every single word.

Following the Rules is the perfect mix of jock/nerd, opposites, and college. This Lane Hayes gem is simply riveting. I love it all and can't wait to see what comes next in this series.

I served us both a slice of each kind of pizza and slid a plate his way, gesturing for him to help himself to the cheese or whatever else he might want.

“I don’t care about money,” I said around a mouthful of food. “Eat up. This is tasty, but it won’t be as good when it’s cold.”

Topher flashed an anxious sideways smile and took a mouse-sized nibble. “Mmm, that’s delicious.”

I washed down my pizza with a healthy swig of wine, nudging his knee as I swiveled to face him. “Are you okay?”

He wiped his hands on a napkin and drained half his water, setting it on the island with a decisive thud. “Yes, I’m just a little nervous.”

“Nervous? Oh. I’m sorry.” I frowned and before I could rein my tongue, blurted, “You seemed fine when we were joking about tiny gorilla penises, and hell…you saw my dick and—”

“I wasn’t joking. I was reciting a fact and as far as your penis is concerned…”

I twisted to face him, unable to contain a mischievous grin.

“Yes? I’m waiting,” I singsonged, biting into the ham and pineapple pizza.

“I told you, Simon…I was simply doing the math,” he replied matter-of-factly. “Six and a half inches.”

“Nine.”

Topher narrowed his eyes, his features softening in amusement. “Six and three-quarters, max.”

I scoffed and hooked my thumb under the elastic waistband of my sweats. “Wanna see?”

“No! Geez. You know, it’s very difficult to stay on topic with you. And staying on topic is the only way this will work.”

“Okay, fine. Back to dick size. What animal has the biggest schlong on the planet?”

He gaped at me for a hot second. “The blue whale. It’s estimated to be seven to ten feet long.”

“Whoa!”

“Although I don’t know that it’s ever been measured during intercourse. Or if that’s even possible.” He reached for his pizza with his brow knit in concentration as though pondering whale dick…as one does.

“Whales are huge. It makes sense. What about land animals?”

“Elephants. They’ve legitimately measured specimens in excess of thirty-nine inches.”

“You’ve got to be kidding.” I snort-laughed. “Christ, I’m feeling very inadequate with my mere twelve inches.”

“Six,” Topher scoffed. “Look, before we get sidetracked again, I just want to—”

“I’ll pay you double.”

“What? Why?”

I sighed as I picked up my wineglass. “I don’t want to fail. No…it’s more than that. I need to look smart. I can’t come across as the fuckup wide receiver who got dumped from the NFL and blew the cushy back-door admittance to a prestigious university by failing his first semester. I thought I might be able to muddle through with a few pointers from George, but it’s going to take more than that. I need a real assistant.”

Topher widened his eyes, then blinked in disbelief when I named an exorbitant salary. I had a hard time keeping my own expression. What the hell was I thinking? Did I really need an assistant?

I didn’t know, but I needed…something.

“Oh, that’s a lot of money,” he whispered breathlessly.

“It’s the going rate for a personal assistant. Ironically, I never had one while I played ball, but I need the help now. I want the best, and George says that’s you.”

Topher smiled. “George didn’t say he was the best?”

“Actually, he did. But we can’t be in the same room for an hour without wanting to take a swing at each other.”

“You and George fight?”

“Not as much now that we’re older, but…yeah, I guess we still fight. We don’t have much in common.”

“You and I have even less in common,” he replied.

“That’s a good thing. Trust me, it’s better for me that you don’t know that I slept with a teddy bear until I was thirteen…or that I still have that damn bear for reasons unknown.” I gave a self-deprecating chuckle, then sipped my wine and set it on the island. “So…are you in? Make me smarter, Toph. I need your brain!”

He stared at me for a long moment, inclining his head. “Okay.”

“Yes!” I fist-pumped the air as if I’d just scored a touchdown and held out my hand for a high five.

Topher left me hanging for a few long seconds before gently tapping his palm to mine. I grabbed his wrist to hold him steady for a redo. The contact was light and breezy…and spontaneous. But that was how I rolled. For a guy who played professional football, it was nothing.

However, this didn’t feel like nothing.

OVERTIME BY KAT MIZERA

Release Date: April 26, 2021
Add to Goodreads: https://bit.ly/2Mot7if
Cover Design: Christine Coffey

Hotshot hockey star Patrick Graham has been groomed for the pros since before he could walk. Fast forward to his junior year of college, and he’s having the time of his life. What could be better than pucks, partying, and having his pick of campus women? But if Patrick doesn’t buckle down and get his grades up, he could find himself benched for the championships. Could a beautiful brainiac be the solution to his problems?

Nineteen-year-old Master’s student Ellie McGinn could do so many things with her biology degree, but her mother is pushing her toward a future she doesn't want. Tutoring a hockey hottie seems like the perfect opportunity to start making her own choices and living life on her own terms.

When learning turns to yearning, will they be ready to face the heat and heartache that love can bring?

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Overtime is a wonderful sports romance by Kat Mizera. The fifth book in the multi-author Moo U series, it's a great addition to this world of hockey romance.

I love this book. I enjoy seeing this side of Patrick, as he wasn't quite so loveable in Paxon's book, Gametime. I am thrilled to have his character redeemed.

The way everything develops between Patrick and Ellie is sweet. Their meet cute is unique and definitely left me feeling a bond between the two.

I appreciate the uniqueness of Ellie, with her being a genius. And of course her mother's behavior, although horrible, is understandable. I enjoy seeing a character like this, who's world is so pressured, come into their own.

Their story is full of intense attraction, very little actual tutoring, and lots of hot sex. Their journey is full of ups and downs, some major life decisions, and I love it all. And the sex is definitely sizzling.

Gametime is everything I enjoy about college romances. I love seeing people fall in love during this phase of their lives. I love the new freedom their independence brings and contemplation of future goals. This book grabbed my attention at the start and I couldn't put it down. I am absolutely obsessed with the Moo U world.

I hoped he wouldn’t run screaming from the restaurant at the serious turn our conversation had taken, but he was so easy to talk to. We had a lot in common, which I never would have imagined. His overbearing father, my overbearing mother, and a lot of concern about this whole idea of adulting. He was twenty-one, and hadn’t been nearly as sheltered as I had, but I heard a lot of the same insecurities in his voice that I often felt in myself.

We talked and drank soda until we were the last people in the restaurant and we finally paid the bill and walked out to my car. I didn’t want this night to end but he had another game tomorrow and I needed to spend the whole day working on my research paper if I was going to go out again tomorrow night.

“Where do you live?” I asked him when we got into the car. It was a frigid January night and I shivered as I waited for the heat to kick in.

“In the apartments on Bellamy,” he said.

I knew just where those apartments were located since a lot of Moo U students lived there and it wasn’t far. I’d considered living there too but I got my room and board for free between being a resident assistant in the dorm and my teaching, and I liked the fact that I didn’t have to count on my parents for housing. They already paid for my car, insurance, and phone, so I’d been willing to suck it up for the tiniest bit of freedom.

He told me where to drop him off and I pulled up to the curb.

“Tonight was great,” he said, turning to me. “I’m really looking forward to doing it again tomorrow night.”

“You are?” The words slipped out before I could stop them, and I mentally grimaced, wishing I knew how to be a little coy, a little flirty, instead of insecure and out of my league.

“Well, yeah.” He frowned. “Aren’t you?”

“I haven’t dated anyone since I came to college,” I blurted out. “I was only fifteen then, so I was too young for college guys, and now that I’m legal, most guys think I’m dorky. So I don’t know how this works. If you’re just trying to be nice so I’ll tutor you, you don’t have to because I’d do it anyway. As a favor to Paxton.”

“You think this is about tutoring?” He looked both a little mad and a little sad, which confused me even more.

“I don’t know why the captain of the hockey team—who can and does sleep with everything that moves—is interested in me when not a single guy on campus ever has been before.”

There. I’d said it. It was out in the open now and if nothing else, he’d know I wasn’t naïve enough to think he really wanted to date me.

“You haven’t gone out on a single date the whole time you’ve been here?” he asked, ignoring everything else I’d said.

I shook my head. “Not a real date, like we had tonight. I’ve met guys at the library or for coffee, but never like this.”

“Their loss is my gain.” He reached out and pushed one side of my hair behind my ear. “I thought we had a connection,” he said softly. “That night at the party. I think you’re pretty and smart and sweet. It has nothing to do with tutoring or anything like that. I don’t know what other guys see when they look at you, but I’ll be honest and say that someone as smart as you is probably a little intimidating.”

“And you’re not, um, intimidated?” Why did I say “um” all the time? I sounded like a nervous twelve-year-old.

“No.” He leaned forward, his eyes locked with mine. “Not even a little. And I think maybe the best way to prove that to you is like this.”

Oh-shit-oh-shit-oh-shit—he was kissing me. His lips were lightly pressed to mine, caressing them as if they were made of glass. Gentle whispers of skin against my mouth, nothing like I’d imagined kissing a hottie like Patrick would be. I’d only been kissed a handful of times before and it had always been sloppy and wet; this was ridiculously sweet. And definitely not sloppy.

Not even when he slid his tongue along the seam of my lips, gently prying them apart. My mouth opened of its own volition, anxious for more, because nothing had prepared me for this. When our tongues finally met one another, it was like a magnetic force had drawn them together and I couldn’t do anything but go along for the ride. It felt like my whole body was involved, instead of just my mouth, and I let myself get swept away.

I might have whimpered in protest when he finally pulled away, and the look in his eyes was one I’d only ever read about in books. I didn’t know men actually looked at women that way. It didn’t have to be love or anything that deep, but sheer, unadulterated desire? I’d never seen it outside of movies and this was way, way better because it was directed at me. The fact that I turned him on enough to put that look there, well, that was something new to me and it did all kinds of things to my nether regions.

“I should go,” he said softly, still watching my face with that look that made me shiver all over.

“It’s late,” I said out loud, though I really wanted to sit here long enough for him to kiss me again.

“I had fun tonight. And I’d like to go out with you again after the game tomorrow…if you want to.”

“I…yes.” I almost said “um” again but caught myself. “Yes, I’d like to.”

“Good night, Ellie.” He pressed his lips to mine, chastely this time, and then got out of the car and bounded up the steps of his building.

I was in so much trouble.

Moonlight Becomes You (Lucky Moon #1) by Piper Vaughn & M.J. O'Shea

Amazon Link - Available in KU
Goodreads Link

Can't forget the boy he left behind. Can't seem to win the respect of the man he's crazy about. Shane Ventura might be rich and famous... but his love life is a disaster waiting to happen.

Eleven years ago, Shane Ventura made the biggest mistake of his life.

He caved in to pressure from his record label to kick his best friend, Jesse Seider, out of their band, Luck. To this day, Shane has never wanted anyone more. All the sex, drugs, and rock n' roll can't fill the void Jesse left behind. Not even the prospect of teaming up with Britain's hottest band, Moonlight, for a massive world tour can get him out of his funk.

Then he meets singer Kayden Berlin and falls into Instant lust.

Kayden may act like he's not interested but Shane knows he feels the spark between them. Yet the harder Shane pushes, the more Kayden pulls away, until on explosive night leaves Shane with a broken heart.

That seems to be his lot in -- lucky at everything but love.

Shane still has one lesson left to learn: when it comes to love, you can't always leave things to chance.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Moonlight Becomes You, the first book in the Lucky Moon series, is a great rocker romance. I loved this Piper Vaughn and MJ O'Shea book the first time I read it and am thrilled it is now re-released and back on the market.

In this story of Shane and Kayden, we get a before and after, as past meets present.

Shane and Jesse are amazing and mesmerizing together, as student and tutor. Unfortunately, things don't last. What follows is a tale of pain and anguish, loss and regret, and memories and second chances. It's a story of revenge, apologies, and surprises. And shock. And I love it all.

This is a story that revolves around the music industry and the cruelty and arrogance of the industry.

And the feelings! Omg, the feelings! The emotions jump off the pages, leaving me feeling like my heart stopped beating at some points.

This writing duo is fabulous, with fantastic characters and an entertaining storyline. They pulled me in and kept me mesmerized throughout. They took a classic trope of the bad boy falling for the nerd, and changed things up, keeping it unique. You might not like the men when you first meet them, but their past explains their motivations and actions, leaving you loving them in the end. I wasn't surprised by the shock moment, but it doesn't matter, as the emotions of the characters leave you shocked for them.

Moonlight Becomes You had me riveted throughout. I could not put this Piper Vaughn and MJ O'Shea book down. Is it realistic? Not so much. Is it all consuming? Absolutely. This story of bad choices and long lost love is a read in one sitting kind of book.
