My Rating - 5 Stars!
It is difficult to put into words how much I loved reading NR Walker's A Soldier's Wish.
From the start, this story has a tone that sucked me in, leaving me reading late into the night.
It's an amazing tale of two young men, Gary and Richard, who meet right before Richard leaves to enlist in the army. Richard is taken by Gary and is happy to see this openness towards homosexuality.
NR Walker expertly captures the feeling of the times, including Woodstock and the Vietnam War. The letters, the cover up of their relationship, and more. All is written in a way that leaves you experiencing the era in a realistic manner.
A Soldier's Wish is extraordinarily beautiful and tender. It's touching and will have you completely captured by these men and their devotion to one another. Their journey is one of love, hope and acceptance, ultimately demonstrating the power and strength of love.
