Hard Hart (Hart's Bay #1) by E. Davies

Blurb

I felt all wrong until I met you.
Jesse Stone is rebuilding his life. He’s ditched his no-good ex, sworn off men, moved to a new town with his four best friends, and started the pottery business of his dreams. And then he slept with his hunky new neighbor. Oops. Jesse needs to focus on work, but all he can think about is getting Finn between his hands like a perfectly-shaped work of clay.
Trouble just blew into town, and his name is Jesse. Finn Hart knows that pursuing Jesse will ignite old family tensions, but he can’t stay away. The construction foreman has never built a lasting relationship. He’s too busy keeping the peace in a town that was founded by one Hart, but is slowly being strangled by another—Finn’s grandfather.
Finn and Jesse are on the same page: they want to save Hart’s Bay, and it starts by bringing tourists in with Jesse’s new art gallery. But their hearts are bruised, and taking a chance comes with a price. Not everyone in Hart’s Bay wants change. For a few narrow minds, nothing good should come to Finn’s branch of the Harts, and that includes love.
Can love wash away twenty years of bad blood and bring a new dawn for Jesse, Finn, and all of Hart's Bay?
Hard Hart is the first book in the new Hart’s Bay series about a small town full of nosy but well-meaning neighbors and brotherly banter. It’s a standalone novel with a happily-ever-after ending, and plenty of smiles and steam along the way. If that cove could talk… oh boy, has it ever seen things. The second Hart’s Bay novel, Changed Hart, will be released September 3rd, 2019!

Review
My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Hard Hart is a fun small town romance by E Davies. The start of a new series that takes place in the town of Hart's Bay, I am excited to read more.

After a hot hook-up with a stranger, Jesse and Finn find out they're actually neighbors. Neither had any idea, and never expected to run into one another again. They slowly start to feel connected and feel that something important is happening between them, with things heating up.
Finn's one who's grown up with some tough family issues. His family owns the town. They're homophobic, and there's a long standing family feud that affects him and the town as a whole. Poor Finn is working to improve the run-down town, but his family isn't cooperative. He feels the weight of the town on his shoulders, and doesn't know what to do.

It's so surprise that the author perfectly illustrates a small town atmosphere. Many of his series take place in such settings, as he always describes them well. Including the politics, the issues, the know-it-alls, and the animosity, he excels in drawing the atmosphere. In Hard Hart, I love the founding family aspects, and the family feud, which are just so damn perfect for a small town.

This story includes bullying, vandalism, and harassment. There's some confusion, conflict, fears, and complications. I suspect the family feud issue will continue through the series, or at least some of the series, making for a fun underlying storyline.

I have to admit that it took me a while to get into this book. As this never happened to me before with one of E Davies' books, I kept reading anyway. Thank god I did. The last 2/3 rds of the book pick up a lot, and it's exactly what I was hoping it would be.

Overall, Hard Hart is a tale of standing up for people and doing what's right. It's sweet and heart warming; perfect for when you're in the mood to sit back and fall in love along with the characters. E Davies' writing is always great, with some fantastic men and I'm so excited to see what happens next in this series.
