Words & Music by JD Sampson

Amazon Link   - Available in KU

A rock band tour bus is an unconventional place to raise a child, but indie artist Miles Mason is doing his best to be a stand-in father for two-year-old Bowie. But when Bowie’s real father turns up looking for the boy he hasn’t seen in years, it’s up to Miles to help this skittish Irishman bury the secrets of his past in order to become the father and partner he’s dreamed of all his life.

With less than two weeks left in the tour, the clock is ticking not just on fatherhood but on love. Can these two learn to make beautiful music together or will a secret from the past keep them from becoming a family.

Words and Music is a slow burn, opposites attract, single father romance.

Potential trigger warnings: homophobia, off-screen hate crimes, and infertility.

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Words & Music is an intriguing read by JD Sampson. Following a rocker and his band, this isn't your typical band romance.

Miles is on tour, suddenly raising Bowie, when his employee ends up in the hospital. He meets Kieran when he shows up to claim Bowie as his son.

The whole Bowie aspect is intriguing, and the guiding factor in this tale. Kieran wants his son back, but Miles is fulfilling the mother's wishes. The child doesn't even remember Kieran. And hell, the reader has no clue how to react.

I enjoy the way things develop between the men, and I like seeing Kieran reconnect with his son.

Bowie is just adorable and the little bit of suspense throughout is well done.

In the end, Words & Music is a tender story. This JD Sampson tale is enjoyable from start to finish. It's a delightful mix of lust, romance, angst, and sweetness. I appreciate the character growth in this story of learning to accept oneself.
