Twelve years ago, I thought I had everything figured out: I’d go off to college, get my marketing degree, come back to my charming little hometown of Finchley in California’s Gold Country, help my high school sweetheart build his carpentry business, and live happily ever after…

Instead, on the eve of my college departure, Slater Goode (henceforth known as The Devil) ripped my heart out of my chest and stomped all over it. Figuratively.
But I don’t care about that anymore. At. All. I have a great life in Chicago… I mean, things aren’t exactly rosy right now, what with my boyfriend slash boss cheating on me, and then losing my job over that little vandalism incident… But that’s just a blip. Things will get better. They have to. I’ll be damned if I’ll be returning home to Finchley with my tail between my legs.
But then I get some news: The Devil’s grandfather, whom I love as if he were my own, has passed away in a tragic mishap of the coital nature, and missing his funeral is not an option.
Despite my desperate prayers, when I return home I’m appalled to find The Devil has not been the victim of some disfiguring flesh-eating disease. Nope, if anything he’s even hotter. And he’s sweet, and funny, and everything I remember falling for back in high school. But he’s still The Devil who shattered my heart and there’s no way I’ll give him the chance to do it again.

Clean Slate is a fabulous second chance romance by Isla Olsen. The first book in The Goode Life series, it seems to be the beginning of a must read series.
From the start, I fell in love with this story. The humor is there at the start and never, ever stops. Love it!
There's way too much to enjoy about this story. Omg, grandpa Goode died. And I can't stop laughing. Omg, I love that instead of being embarrassing, it's just fun for everyone. Trust me, it's all a hoot.
And, ohhh...I love the family texts. And the facebook town page.
Zach and Slater are two men whose lives have long been entwined. Former high school boyfriends, sort of raised together. Upon being reunited, there's still some bitter feelings and plenty to discuss. Their chemistry is still there and undeniable.
Of course, Zach is only in town for grandpa Goode's funeral, so they have long distance issues to deal with as well.
The writing is fabulous! It's sharp, quick witted, and absolutely delightful. It's fast paced, so don't blink or you're miss something important or funny. And trust me, you don't want to miss anything.
Osla Olsen is one of the best when it comes to humor. You can't ask for more. Luckily for us, this series revolves around the hysterical and loveable Goode family. And there's more to come!
Clean Slate is amazing and I can't wait for more from the Goode Family and this small town. There's plenty to this book, but it's a fast read. If you enjoy humor with your romance, this is a must read!
