Blurb

Steven spends Christmas with his parents in the New Forest. His workaholic boyfriend Edmund is stuck in London. Concussed from an accident, Steven wakes in hospital. Everything feels…odd.

Snowed in, opposites attract, small town, mistletoe kisses, ice skating, hot chocolate, sweet Christmas romance for everyone who’s ever loved those made-for-TV Christmas movies, and wished there was a gay romance version. With a twist.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Liam Livings' Mistletoe Kisses is classic Hallmark movie, yet with that gay couple we all wish Hallmark would feature.

This is a light-hearted concussion inspired reality check. It's pure delight, as Steven is stuck in a Hallmark like Christmas movie.

And best of all, the humor that's infused throughout is fantastic. Not only does the author capture all that's great about these Christmass movies, but the author mocks them throughout, which is fabulous!!! I cannot stop laughing at the fade-to-black moments.

Omg, just read this book!

And yes, just like any Christmas movie, there's an important life lesson. I can't recommend Mistletoe Kisses enough! Love it!!!

Simon Taylor just wants to make it to retirement and keep things interesting for him and his students. After being cheated on, he's not going to trust again. But when a passionate parent comes to him, something starts to change, and the Paris air might just bring a Christmas love story after all.
Christmas in Paris is a 50,000 word gay-for-you romance with adults-only heat and a happily ever after to warm your winter season

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Riley Knight's Christmas in Paris had me hooked from the start. Not just a vacation fling, but one between a teacher and a student's parent, it's fun, flirty, and definitely forbidden.

One has to love Ray. He's lost his job, is raising his daughter alone, and will do anything for her. As a result, he ends up chaperoning her class trip to Paris for Christmas with her teacher Simon.

The Paris aspect is always in the background, adding some magic to the story. But the real beauty comes from the first kisses and the first times. Their story includes a whole lot of sneaking around, and just the right amount of angst. There's nothing unique, classic angst, but it's a good read.

A short story, the reader doesn't get a whole lot of the student aspect, only the parts that affect their relationship.

I love the characters and I love the flow. The forbidden and vacation fling aspects are well done. I absolutely loved this. The only downfall is the way the angst is done, as it's completely predictable and seems forced. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's just a little over the top.

Definitely check out Christmas in Paris when you're in the mood for a sweet read. This OFY romance is definitely a fun holiday romance.

Will Oliver get the gift he’s hoping for this Christmas?

Oliver Walker’s Christmas is shaping up to be a quiet one. That is until hunky neighbour Ed Middleton moves in next door.

Attraction is instant, but Ed is only there temporarily and neither wants to start something with an expiration date.

As the festive season approaches, holiday cheer wraps around them, and giving in to temptation is inevitable. But Ed is still set on moving in the new year—a fresh start, miles away from those he’s closest to.

If Oliver doesn’t want to lose his heart, he’ll have to show Ed that home is wherever he wants it to be, and love is possible no matter what.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

No Place Like Home is a touching neighbor romance by Annabelle Jacobs.

Oliver and Ed meet during a funny misunderstanding, then strike up a neighborly friendship.

Ed
is definitely attracted to Oliver, but their age difference makes him weary. What follows is a super sweet story. Ed and Oliver are only going to be together for a short time, but the relationship they develop during that time is super meaningful. And hot!

Their tale is full of some great secondary characters, with family members who are terrific, and a cute cat!

No Place Like Home touches on the lesson that what we think we need to do isn't always the right thing. It's okay to re-evaluate and change one's plans.

Annabelle Jacobs lives in the South West of England with three rowdy children, and two cats. An avid reader of fantasy herself for many years, Annabelle now spends her days writing her own stories. They're usually either fantasy or paranormal fiction, because she loves building worlds filled with magical creatures, and creating stories full of action and adventure. Her characters may have a tough time of it—fighting enemies and adversity—but they always find love in the end.

Mercutio by JI Davenport

Mercutio by J.I. Davenport
Release date: November 25, 2019
Genre: Historical, Queer/LGBTQ+ Literary Fiction

Synopsis for Mercutio:

Return to the sensuous world of Romeo and Juliet to discover the story of Mercutio, Verona’s most flamboyant citizen!
Prancing on the sidelines of the bitter feud between the House of Montecchi and Capuleti, Mercutio harbours his own secret conflict: he is hopelessly in love with his best friend, Romeo Montecchi. When he spies true love blossoming between Romeo and a young Capuleti girl one fateful summer’s eve, Mercutio fears he has finally lost the man he loves, forever.
Turning to drink, drugs and ever wilder escapades in an effort to ease his aching heart, Mercutio starts to come off the rails, hurtling towards his own spectacular fate ...

Excerpt:

It was always difficult to ignore the moment Mercutio entered a room. The people of Verona had mostly given up trying. Best let him have his moment, or he may never quieten down!
‘Buona sera, one and all!’ he cried, bursting into the ballroom in a flourish of canary-yellow silk. A sea of faces turned his way, and he greeted them with a frivolous bow.
No one could deny that he at least gave them something to look at. His doublet was undeniably as bright and gay as a canary, heavily brocaded with leaves and flowers in white and gold thread. His fancy sleeves were puffed at the shoulders and slashed to reveal naughty glimpses of violet satin. Tight, particoloured hose flaunted his legs to their utmost shapeliness. His head was topped with a cap of outrageous purple velvet, matching the vibrant gloves adorning his hands.
Velvet gloves in summer? Only Mercutio!
Yes, indeed, he was fair, and it went beyond his sun-blond hair. There was a natural symmetry to his face and body that was nothing short of statuesque. The length of his neck, the width of his shoulders, the curve of his jaw — even the shape of his ears — all were as exquisitely formed as if sculpted by an artist. Yet, it was simply the way he was born. His eyes mirrored the sky: azure by day, sapphire by night. While his lips were not the fullest, they were of the finest shape and definition thanks to their deep crimson colour. He would never deny that Romeo had always been the one with the lips.
Whether Mercutio was vain or not was a difficult question to answer. You had to understand him. He often complained, himself, of the young men he saw preening about the city, obsessed with image and etiquette. He certainly did not count himself amongst that pride of peacocks. He was too much the rule breaker and rebel at heart, delighting in the controversy and outrage he excited as much as the envy and admiration. He was beautiful and fashionable and a living satire of men’s vanity. While others might boast of the height of their brows or the shapeliness of their calves, Mercutio was more likely to pull down his hose and extol the peachiness of his buttocks. In fact, the habit had earned him the epithet il Callipigio, which alluded to sculptures of the goddess Aphrodite that had been worshipped by the ancients for their “lovely buttocks”.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Promise, the third book in RJ Scott's Single Dads series, is a heart-wrenching tale of doing everything possible to protect one's child.

Leo's a cop who's always longed to have a family of his own. A kiss with the handsome Jason soon changes everything for him, leading him to the family of which he wants to be a part.

This is an amazing romance between a cop and an ex-con; two men who have no business being together. Their story involves dealing with danger, greed, and more.

Jason will do everything he can do protect his daughter. Not being able to trust people, he
struggles to let Leo into their lives. The connection and attraction is there, but trust is the big issue for Jason. This part is so well written.

Little Daisy is adorable and her background is tragic. If you like kids, you will absolutely fall in love with Daisy.

The writing is superb, with fantastic complex main characters, a great storyline, and a whole lot of heart. As an avid fan of RJ Scott, I am not surprised about falling in love with Promise. It's a tender tale, full of heart, romance, and love. And the ending is amazing!!!
