The problem is we haven’t really been on speaking terms for four years now.

This story takes place in Cara Dee’s Camassia Cove Universe, a fictional town where all books stand on their own, unless otherwise stated, and the reader can jump in wherever they want.

The Job is a fabulous romance by Cara Dee. It's part of the Auctioned created world, but it's read as a standalone, as are all of the books in this amazing series. 

I love this book from the start. I think I just connect with the way the author tells a story. And the emotions in this one jump off the pages throughout, which makes for an all consuming read.

Boone and Case are forever linked as they raise Ace together. When the story starts, the two are estranged and raising her separately. Then a job brings the men together. Let the fun begin. 

Their past is complex and their future is up for grabs, if they can sort through all the messy obstacles in their way. I love the connection between the two. Hell, the enemies to lovers element proves the intensity between them. 

They are part of an organized crime family, so the job aspect is full of adventure and risk, yet always sprinkled with humor. I love it. 

Ace. You gotta love Ace. I adore everything about her, including her knowledge of and participation in the family business. And I love how easy going she is with her dads' situation in general. She's spunky, cute, and totally lovable.

I absolutely love the brothers aspect. Love it. They're brothers through adoption, but they're still brothers. So complicated for them and everyone involved. The forbidden aspect is a large part of their problem and it's mesmerizing in the way it all unfolds. 

The second chance aspect of this story is always there, as their love is deep and long lasting. The story clearly establishes the strength of their love and the natural reason they became estranged.

The Job is a great read. I can't recommend this Cara Dee book enough. It's a fabulous mix of an organized crime family, second chances, stepbrothers falling in love, a cute kid, and plenty of humor. I love every second of it.

What's Worth Keeping is a thought-provoking, powerful tale by Kayla McLaren. 

The overall tone is sadness and more sadness. But ultimately, it's a tale of survival, acceptance, and healing. 

Amy, her husband Paul, and their daughter Carly are all suffering, with each of them trying to survive the aftermath of Amy's cancer diagnosis and treatment. We all know that cancer effects all those around the one physically suffering, and this story tackles just that.

It's been a long road for Amy, with having just beaten cancer. But knowing she's done with her treatments leaves her unsure of her life now. Of course, it doesn't help that she expects her husband to leave her now. She's left depressed, lonely, unsure, and grieving for her old self. She can't bare to look at her new body. Her perspective is well handled, with care, knowledge, and compassion. 

Meanwhile Paul is suffering from an issue with his job. The aftermath of seeing terror and not being able to help anyone, has left him feeling less than. He was there, at the Oklahoma City bombing, and he still has flashbacks to all he saw that day. It's truly heart-wrenching to read his journey.

And Carly. Not only is she dealing with everything her family's gone through, she is dealing with how to tackle things. Should she be reckless and not care about anything? Should she do things to get her parents attention? And should she be tested to see if her odds of getting cancer like her mother are high?  She's only a teen and she has no clue how to process everything she's facing or how to deal with her future. 

Then there's Aunt Rae, who is one of those special characters who you'll remember for a long time. She's supportive, she's honest, she's helpful, and most of all she's caring. She loves hard and she loves fully. I love her role in this storyline. 

The writing is good, written in three povs, fully developing each character. Amy, Paul, and Carly are complex characters with an extremely complex tale. Each character's emotions are front and center, well explored, and driving the story throughout. My only complaint is that is it definitely slow. 

What's Worth Keeping is a long, detailed family tale. Kaya McLaren tackles some heavy topics and does so in a wonderful manner. I definitely recommend this book when you have time to tackle a long and serious read.

Reining in the Bad Boy is a heart-warming holiday romance by Jacki James. Part of The Men of River Gorge series, it's easily read as a standalone. 

If you enjoy fake boyfriends, and friends to lovers, you will love this story. I absolutely love the way they go from friends to lovers. It's perfectly wonderful.

As for the men, Miller has always been a playboy, with a reputation of not being serious with men. Seeing Landon get to know the real Miller is fantastic, as he's full of doubts and discoveries, slowly learning about the real man behind the playboy lifestyle. 

I love the real Miller. Absolutely love him and how he is with Landon. And damn, these two are sexy together.

Written in alternating 1st person pov, everything about this story works for me. We get to know both men well, with their storyline just as precious as can be. Add in Landon's family and you get some great side characters as well.

Reining in the Bad Boy is sweet and tender. Jacki James left me delighted with this easy and fun read. I was sad to see it end. Basically, you need to read this the next time you're in the mood for a fun, light-hearted Christmas romance.

Christmas Carols is a fabulous romance by B Harmony. Now that the men from The B-Side are happy and in love, we get to enjoy their first Christmas together. 

This story is pure delight. There's funny Christmas sweaters, some hot sex, and a family Christmas.

Chance and Tyler are so sweet together, each trying to make things special for the other this year. It's seriously just a fun, feel good romance. 

Christmas Carols is a tender and beautiful holiday romance. I couldn't love this B Harmony romance anymore. It put a smile on my face throughout and I highly recommend it for a sweet holiday story.

Tyler pulls back again, breathing a bit rougher, and drops his forehead against mine. “Good morning, my love.”

“Good morning.” Running my hand alongside his face, I push his hair back and peer into his pine colored eyes. “I’d much rather you wake me up like this than with that song.”

The edge of his eyes crinkle with mirth before he tips his head back with bright laughter, his entire body shaking above mine. Taking full advantage of his distraction, I quickly switch our positions, throwing him down against the mattress and using my hips to hold him in place. His laughter cuts off in surprise for only a second before I curl my fingers into his sides and tickle him.

“You little shit. I knew you were doing it on purpose,” I growl as I take my revenge.

“Damnit…Chance…okay…uncle…I call uncle!” he shouts out, the words broken up between pants of laughter.

I halt the movement of my hands but refuse to budge my body, enjoying the feel of him pinned beneath me. Over the past year, I’ve discovered and exploited how much Tyler loves when I control him in bed. That fact is further proven as I watch his breathing escalate and his pupils dilate, the color of his irises eclipsing with desire.

Collapsing my weight against him, I take him in a deep kiss, our tongues brushing against one another before I pull back and bite his bottom lip gently. Tyler moans and arches up against me, forcing me to release his lip as his erection makes contact with my exposed one.

Sleeping naked has its advantages around here.

Ship of Fools is an incredible, emotional romance by Sophia Soames. Everything about this story is wonderful. It would be fantastic as just a regular romance, but the fact that it's at Christmastime makes it extra special.

It's the tale of two flawed men, who have never been able to find that someone special. But, with looks across a barroom, some work together, and the help of a Christmas "elf,", everything changes. 

Luca and Andreas have a strong connection, but an even sweeter way of getting to know one another and being honest with each other. Their story has some amazingly cute and tender moments that add up to be special. Their story seems so easy, so natural, and totally perfect, as they make each other better, finding someone who makes them feel better about themselves. 

And their story includes plenty of cute roleplaying, some rough sex, and humiliation. 

In the end, this is a tale of two men who find their way with each other. Both were looking for something, never knowing what it was they needed. But together they can be open and honest, cute and funny, and real and vulnerable.

As for my favorite character, that just has to be Bea. She is fabulous. Trust me, you will love her. 

The writing is stellar, with that special style the author has with every book she writes. The men are wonderful, with layers and flaws, and their storyline is tender and emotional. I love the way Sophia works with emotions, with them front and center throughout. Add in the secondary characters, like Luca's sister, and everything is perfect.

Ship of Fools is a wonderful read. This Sophia Soames gem is beautiful through and through.

I barely finish that thought, before my office door opens. He doesn’t even knock, Luca Germano, before entering and walking up to me with determination in his steps.

“We are ready to deliver. I was just wondering if you would like to come down and look her over before I go home.” He grunts.

He’s wearing skinny jeans today, and a torn knitted hoodie. A speck of oil still lingering on his hand, and a polishing rag stuck in his back pocket.

“I trust you.” I say, taking the glasses off my nose, and placing them on the table in front of me. “The crew downstairs speak very highly of you. Thank you for helping us deliver on this one. I’m sure the car will be much appreciated by its new owner.”

I’m talking a load of shite, in a voice that belongs to someone like Mr Lambert. I do that, sometimes, when I speak with older clients. Try to make myself more mature, more sophisticated, and less of the twinkly brat I really am.

“Ahm…” He grunts, again. He’s a man of few words, Luca Germano. He still scares me, because he’s unpredictable. I can’t read him, not really. Sometimes he comes across as happy and carefree, at other times he seems almost terrified of me.

“Let me guess…” I tease. “Tonight you are working out, then you are going to go and have a nice glass of water at Club Eden. Am I right?”

“What?” he huffs.

“Yeah? That’s what you do, most weekends.” I giggle. I’ve immediately lost the stupid fake maturity. It doesn’t take much. Told you, I’m an idiot, and clearly a fool, because now Luca Germano is blushing and squirming, and looking at me like I’ve lost my mind.

“Why would you say that?” He huffs out, suddenly back to being annoyed with me. Then he looks scared, breathing too heavily, running his greased hand through his cropped hair. He’s had it cut again. I bet it’s soft against his fingers.

I’m clearly losing my touch here, and I need a break. Luca Germano turned me down for a simple reason. He’s probably gay, because most people frequenting Club Eden, are… gay. Since it’s a gay club. Yet, I’m feeling less confident by the second here, sat behind my desk being... frankly, both rude and stupid with one of our freelance tech crew. Because I know what I am doing, I’m flirting, and why the hell I am flirting with him, of all people? I don’t understand myself anymore. Well, I do. He’s handsome, in a rugged way. A little bit scary, because the man clearly works out and is both tall, fit and muscular. The kind of man with big hands that would toss me around a bed with ease and completely dominate in the bedroom. He’s also staring at me like I have two heads.

Note to self, also the kind of man I should avoid, because I usually end up in a state like last weekend. Do I take any notice? No. Here I go again.

“You usually spend the evening stalking me around the club, and staring at me.” It’s a little bit of a lie, but I’m smiling and batting my eyelashes. I’m giving the guy a chance here. I wouldn’t mind a hookup with him. I would even let him do me, like a little good pick-me-up.

“Look, mate.” He says again, with surprising strength, as he walks up to my desk and leans his knuckles on the top. Leaning over me and staring at me with an intensity that scares me. I actually shuffle my chair an inch backwards, because... Yeah. Intense.

“Don’t mess around with me, I’m not into all that.” He’s serious too, enough for me to feel intimidated.

“Mate, it’s an invitation to fuck, not a bloody job interview.” I nip back, trying to blow my chest up like a bloody baboon. I’m not impressive, I realise that, as he smirks at me.

“Just leave it. Not interested.” He huffs. I just laugh, because as he stands back, he turns around far too quickly for a man not interested. He’s also sporting a semi in his jeans, unless he’s hung like a horse. He’s probably hung, but that bulge...?

“Look, Luke.” I try, but he cuts me off.

“Luca. Not Luke.”

“Luca, my bad.” I try a smile, but he doesn’t take the bait. Just stares, like he does. Maybe it’s just his thing, and perhaps I have read all this wrong from the start.

“I go to Eden for a drink at the weekend, because my best mate from school mans the bar. That’s why I go there. I hang out and shoot the shit with a guy who I have known since I was three. Is that clear?” He’s pissed off, and now he’s frightening me. Just a little. In a good way.

“Crystal.” I nip back.

“I’m not interested in being one of your fuckbuddies, okay? So leave it. I’m very happy to work for you, and you have a great team downstairs, so if you have a project you need me for? Ring me. If not? Then I hope you have a great Christmas... and all that.”

He’s lost his steam at the end, clearly not holding a planned-out speech. He would never make a salesman, because now he is twirling around in a circle again, almost tripping over his own feet as he walks out of my office, leaving the door wide open behind him.

I don’t go down and check out the car. I probably should, before the handover to the new owner this afternoon. I should probably be there to sign it off. Instead I lean back in my chair and let my eyes close. Just for a second to calm myself down.

What on earth am I doing? That? That display of complete and sheer unprofessionalism was ... staggeringly stupid. I could lose my job. It could be seen as harassment, on a grand scale. I need to stop, whatever it is I think I am doing.

In any case, I need to go home, grow up and grow a bloody brain, because the one I have at the moment? It’s fried.

Mr Big Shot is a fantastic boss/employee romance by Isla Olsen. The first book in the Suits & Sevens series, it's a great start to this new created world. 

Will and Spencer's story starts with a hallway hookup at a bar. It isn't until later that they discover Will is Spencer's new assistant. 

What follows are some awkward times and fighting their feelings. But in a fun move, the two arrange an in office, out of office relationship situation. It's enjoyable to read, and adds the element of impending problems. 

The opposites factor is a huge aspect of this story. I love their differences. Will is soft and quiet, yet aggressive with sex. Spencer, meanwhile, is the tough, successful businessman who enjoys letting go and being dominated during sex. I love the way Will helps Spencer to let loose and not be so perfect all the time. 

Spencer being closeted is a large aspect in this tale. He's bisexual but hasn't ever come out as such, never meeting someone worth doing so for. His being closeted leads to some drama for him, Will, and the families, but I enjoy the way it all plays out. 

My favorite thing about this story is how freaking sweet Spencer is. I absolutely never expected that. But he is. And, oh my, the way he is with Will's mom is beautiful. I just adore him to pieces.

I love everything about this story. The writing is great. There are intense, steamy scenes. And the secondary characters are fantastic. Most of all though, Will and Spencer are just a wonderful couple. 

Mr Big Shot is a perfect read when you're in the mood to escape real life for a bit. This Isla Olsen read is a perfect combo of passion, romance, and love. It's a sweet and charming story.

Rescued Alpha, the sixth book in the Billionaire Alphas series is easily read as a standalone. Skye R Richmond once again delights with this Omegaverse read. 

Jack and Eli make for a great couple. I love the way their relationship develops and unfolds. 

Their tale is one of found family, including finding a man who's a single dad. The secondary characters, including some cute kids, are wonderful and absolutely delightful. 

It's a low angst, heartfelt romance that will leave you sighing happy sighs throughout.

Rescued Alpha is an entertaining, fluffy romance. Skye R Richmond perfectly combines sweetness and heat in this delightful read. It's a quick, nice read that any Omegaverse fan will enjoy.

How to Save a Human is another awesome read by Alice Winters. The fourth book in the VRC: Vampire Related Crimes series, it is recommended to read the series in order. 

It's hard to explain the pure genius of an Alice Winters book. It's a given that the main couple will be full of banter, barbs, and snark. You will laugh often, yet you will also fall in love with the men. Each couple is absolutely lovable and there's always some danger and action in the background. I say background since it's never an angst ridden affair. The writing is always fabulous, with a fluid pace, unique characters, and an intriguing storyline. And this one is just that!

In this edition of the series, the VRC is investing some murders and trying to solve their investigation. Unfortunately for Bentley, the man he met in the coffee shop is also the one his team is hunting. 

As far as the relationship is concerned, they meet in a cute way in a coffee shop which just so happens to involves some unicorn porn conversations. It's all classic Alice Winters hilarity which pulled me in immediately.  

As things progress, everything is sweet under all the banter. Honestly, I continue to be in awe of the way Alice manages to create a bond between her couples while always having non stop snark. Even during sex scenes. It's an impressive skill not all authors could achieve.

This story is one with conflict, as the two being involved is definitely a conflict of interest. It's also one with a serious undertone of Bentley losing all those he cares about. His relationship with his niece is touching, and the developing relationship with River isn't going to be an easy ride. River's illness is absolutely heartbreaking, but beautifully helps the story along. 

One of my favorite parts of the story is River's niece's reminder to enjoy the relationship you have with people for as long as you can have them. The good memories will far outweigh the pain of the loss in the end. I love this.

How to Save a Human is a fantastic read. This Alice Winters story is pure delight. I enjoyed every moment with these men and look forward to re-reading this one often.
