What happens when you try to fix the past and end up threatening your future?

Scott is struggling. Grieving the loss of his brother, carrying the weight of his father’s expectations, and getting his ass kicked in the rink, he’s in a downward spiral. He needs a solution and fast, but when his steroid use is exposed, he’s close to losing his place at Owatonna and more importantly, on the Eagles Hockey team. Thrown out of his house, with nowhere to go and no future in sight, he only has one choice; agree to mandatory counseling, random drug tests, and get his act together. Only then will he have a chance at normal. Meeting Hayne, a senior connected to the world through his art, is a shock to the system. Moving in with him is his only option, but falling for the shy artist leaves Scott in an impossible situation, and one he can’t escape.

Hayne has always been that quiet, creative kid who sat in the back of class drawing instead of listening to the teacher. A talented artist, the shy and sensitive young man is struggling with the loss of his childhood friend. Seeing his sadness reflected in his usually colorful paintings, he decides to attend grief counseling and meets Scott, a lost soul in desperate need of light and color in his life. Taking in a homeless hockey player certainly was never part of his carefully orchestrated ten-year plan. But now that Scott is in his life, he’s discovering the joy of this man’s loving smile and tender touch is one of the most beautiful palettes on earth.

Review
My Rating - 5 Stars!

Scott is another spectacular story in the Owatonna hockey world. This series by VL Lovey and RJ Scott is amazing, delightful, and riveting. There's always something special about a series you can just sink your teeth into, and this one is just that.

Scott's a mess, weighed down by his family expectations, living in the shadow of his deceased brother. These aspects of his world are complex, emotional, and developed in an excellent manner. Meanwhile, Hayne's an artist who has no life outside of his classes. He's isolated and his fear is heart-breaking. His overall paranoia with jocks is haunting, as he's been traumatized by them in the past, leaving him always on edge.

I find it fantastic the way that Scott and Hayne meet and get to know one another. I don't want to give it away, just trust me, it's great. In the end, I love them as a couple.

This isn't an easy read at times, as Scott's experiences are horrible, affecting him a lot. He's never able to relax and just be the person he wants. And Hayne's living situation is tragic, as he's stuck living with two assholes who treat him like shit.

Their story includes some important and hard to read topics. It's a story of fear, anxiety and confusion, entwined with expectations, struggles, and anger. They have to deal with grief, guilt and pain, as well as sorrow, regret and humiliation. It's a lot and it's written in a raw and realistic manner.

The physical difference between the men is awesome and compelling. I always love a good size difference, and these two definitely have that.

My favorite scene has to be the macaroni toes, as it's sweet, tender, and erotic as hell. Seriously, just hot!

Scott expertly explores the long term effects and suffering that bullying and abuse can bestoy on someone. RJ Scott and VL Locey excel in their demonstration of anger issues. This story is an absolutely emotional rollercoaster. It's downright beautiful in the end, as it's a tale of forgiveness, both of someone else and of yourself.

USA Today Bestselling Author V.L. Locey – Penning LGBT hockey romance that skates into sinful pleasures.

V.L. Locey loves worn jeans, yoga, belly laughs, walking, reading and writing lusty tales, Greek mythology, Torchwood and Dr. Who, the New York Rangers, comic books, and coffee. (Not necessarily in that order.) She shares her life with her husband, her daughter, one dog, two cats, a pair of geese, far too many chickens, and two steers.

When not writing spicy romances, she enjoys spending her day with her menagerie in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania with a cup of fresh java in one hand and a steamy romance novel in the other.
