Trust Me (Rebel Mechanics #3) by A.T. Brennan

Amazon Link   - Available in KU

I want to believe I deserve more, but how can I when no one has ever taken the time to understand me?

A year ago, I thought I found the perfect man. He was sweet, attentive, and promised to take care of me. Then he showed his true colors, and I’ve been trapped with him ever since. I don’t want to live like this, but I can’t seem to find the courage to end things.

That is, until my best friend, Quinn, shows me that I have people who care about me. It’s with their support that I’m finally able to break free and start my journey of healing.

Quinn is right there by my side, helping me find myself again. He’s the best friend I could’ve asked for, and the more time we spend together, the more my feelings for him grow. I’m not used to wanting someone the way I want Quinn. I’m worried it will ruin our friendship if I tell him how I feel, but then again, what could be better than falling in love with my best friend?

Trust Me is a 65k word slow burn best friends to lovers, hurt/comfort story featuring a sweet mechanic, an artistic wheelchair user, a found family, and all the feels. It is Book 3 in the Rebel Mechanics series but can be read as a standalone.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Already in love with the Rebel Mechanics series, I am now delightful and thrilled for this third book, Trust Me. AT Brennan's third book in this series is fabulous and is easily read as a standalone.

There's a lot going on in this friends to lovers story. And I love it all.

At the start, Bennett's in an abusive relationship, making him automatically a sympathetic character. When he finally realizes he deserves to be treated better, he turns to his best friend Quinn for help.

I love the friendship they have at the start. Each helps ground the other, and brings a peace into the other's world. The easily fall into living together and spending all their time together.

Quinn is wheelchair bound, and yet Bennett doesn't mind at all. Bennett is supportive and helpful, making him even more loveable. The author does an excellent job illustrating the sexual issues Quinn has with his injury. It's all written with care and compassion, as well as brings so much reality to their situation. I absolutely love this aspect.

Another key issue for these two is Bennett's sexuality. He's demisexual and isn't quite sure of what that means for him.

Ultimately, both care for one another and everything about them as a couple works wonderfully. I adore the way they care about each other. And I love the way their relationship evolves.

Trust Me is a beautiful story. This AT Brennan romance impresses as it explores some sexual issues and what it means to both men. I love it. It's unique and well worth a read.

Catch Me (Tattoos and Temptation #4) by Mia Monroe

Amazon Link - Available in KU
Goodreads Link

It’s never worked with two. Is three the magic number?
Cairo has been my bestie for years. He’s sexy, charming, and absolutely gorgeous. Even though the attraction is strong, my track record taught me to keep the line between friendship and more intact.

But then Luca entered our world with his southern drawl, bedroom eyes, and sexy smirk, quickly making a play for not one but both of us. Sounds like a recipe for trouble. I refuse to hand over my heart and get it stomped on again. No matter how hard both of them try to convince me I’m safe.

Luca and Cairo can chase, but they’ll never catch me…

Catch Me is a super steamy friends to lovers MMM story with a charming and determined Southern boy, two friends who can’t see what’s right in front of them, and piercings in fun places. It is book three in the Tattoos and Temptation series featuring hot Miami nights, Latin desserts, and guys with ink.

It can be read as a standalone, but it’s definitely more fun to read in order.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Dear lord, Mia Monroe's Catch Me is effin HOT! The fourth book in the Tattoos and Temptation series, it is amazing!

It starts with some sexual fun between two best friends and a third. And it is off the charts steamy.  And then there's a whole lot of emotion added in to create a fan-freakin-tastic read.

Oh, the emotions! This is an emotional rollercoaster for sure. The longing, the want, the fears, and the doubts. There's so much going on to get these men to a happy ever after and I felt every single emotion.

If it's the sex you're interested in, be prepared for some sizzling scenes. Their story includes docking, piercings, and more. It is sizzling.

I love the way the dynamics chance, and the throuple is developed, Genesis and Luca are the ones to start the fun. But then Luca bonds with Cairo, while Gen is scared of getting emotionally involved. It is wonderfully developed.

Gen and Ciaro have long been best friends who are secretly in love with each other, but were never able to make that first step. Luca is the one that's able to bring them together. The three man are all needed to balance this relationship. It's beautifully done, with no two being able to feel like a complete couple. And damn, every single second moment of hesitation and fear jumps off the pages.

For more on the emotional front, Ciaro's loneliness is overwhelming at times. As are Gen's fears and doubts. All three men are longing to be a part of something bigger than themselves, and together they all find it.

To be fair, there is one aspect of this story that I hated. The nickname. I definitely don't enjoy the constant nickname of "Boo." That drove  me crazy. Other than that, I love it all. And as much as the nickname makes me cringe, it would kill me to not rate this one a 5. It is just that good.

Catch Me is an amazing book. This Mia Monroe menage romance is compelling and riveting. It's seriously awesome. Mia delivers all the feels in this all consuming journey of friendship, trust, and love. There's angst galore but it's all so damn well written. I couldn't put this book down.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Forgiven, the third book in the Heaven and Hell Club series is a spectacular read. This Colette Davison story is easily read as a standalone, but if you haven't yet read the previous books, you should because they are amazing! This one is less angsty than the other Heaven and Hell books, but it still has the same type of heartfelt feel to it.

Callum and Dylan make for an interesting and intriguing couple. Both are broken men with pasts who have shaped them into the men they are today. If you love when two broken men can be complete together, you'll enjoy this book.

Callum is broken, having just managed to survive his homophobic upbringing. He's never seriously considered being with a guy until he meets the sexy dancer, by whom he's gobsmacked.

Callum's getting his life back on track, after being released from jail. He is another great example of how tough it is to get a job when you have a record.  Damn, I just want to hug him. He has so damn much pain, guilt, and baggage on his shoulders. and he desperately needs to forgive himself before he can move on.

Meanwhile, Dylan oozes sexuality and confidence and is a breathe of fresh air. He's unapologetic about who he is and I love him. He's got sexy dance moves, including stripping and private dances, and is a makeup wearing twink. But when Callum starts peeling back his layers, Callum and the readers discover all that Dylan has been hiding. Damn, his secrets are heartbreaking.

Both men are lovable, making me want to support and protect them, as the mother figure they never had. Oh, the baggage that Callum carries, feeling responsible for his father's horrific behavior. His life would have been completely different if he had never taken on the guilt of his father's actions. And then there's Dylan, who's reversal from a man who pushed people away and never let anyone get close to him, to the man he is at the end is stunning.  He finds himself falling head over heels in love and accepting it is, with is just beautiful.

I adore the way they both open up to one another and support each other, allowing the other to be real. And as an added bonus, they are hot together, with some amazing first times for Callum,

These are two men who help one another deal with their guilt in life. They face family issues galore, with some foster care issues, abandonment issues, and some extreme homophobia. There are plenty of secondary characters to keep things interesting in other areas. I love Callum's uncle and the breakthrough they have in their relationship.

Written in alternating 3rd person pov, each man is fully explored, emotions and all. The characters are wonderfully developed, both complex and lovable. Their storyline is heartfelt and I couldn't get enough of these men. I love how it's written, never seeming over the top, always feeling realistic.

Forgiven is a beautiful story. Colette Davison continues to impress me with this book and series. This book won't leave you disappointed, as every moment with  these men, as they find someone who helps them feel loved and secure for the first time in their lives, is touching. And the ending is as sweet as can be.

Callum didn’t move until he heard the door shut, then he started the level again. It was easier now that he was alone. His inhibitions dropped away from him and he focused on slicing his beams of light through the coloured blocks. He’d selected easy mode, which was fun but not a challenge. He managed to hit every block the second time through the song, so upped the difficulty level.

He had to move his body a little more on standard mode. The blocks came faster, the patterns were slightly harder. As they were more in time to the music, it actually made the level easier. He had to stretch to hit blocks when they were right at the sides or up high.

He upped the difficulty again and found himself moving even more—only to reach the blocks, he wasn’t actually dancing or anything. The pace of the blocks was almost frantic, and he quickly bombed out of the level. He tried again and again, quickly losing track of time as he became determined to get to the end of the level. Once he’d finished it, he set himself a goal to hit all the blocks in the right direction.

He wasn’t sure how many times he played it through. Being within the virtual world meant he was completely absorbed in what he was doing. He’d worked up a sweat, his heart beat faster and adrenaline made him buzz. He’d learnt the words to the song and was singing along to it. He was moving more now, his body reacting to the music as well as the blocks that flew at him. It was fun.

It was only when his stomach rumbled that he wondered how long he’d been playing. When he got to the end of the level, he stopped and carefully took off the headset. Dylan was sitting on the sofa. Callum glanced around, but there were no pizza boxes in sight. He hadn’t smelt any food either, but he’d needed to be sure.

“You never left, did you?”

Dylan shrugged. “You look like you’ve been having fun.”

Callum scowled. “You tricked me.”

“Maybe, but it gave you the freedom to let loose, didn’t it?”

Callum stared at the headset in his hands.

“I told you the game would get you moving.”

“I still can’t dance.”

“You should have seen yourself, darling. You’ve got a good sense of rhythm and some moves.”

RELEASE BLITZ, EXCERPT & REVIEW - Wood (A True Lover's Story #2) by A.E. Via

Wood: A True Lover's Story

AE Via

M/M Romance

Release Date: 08.08.20

It’s been a long seventeen years but Herschel Wood Jr. is finally a free man and he’s looking forward to reconnecting with his old cellmate, Bishop Stockley, who promised him a place to stay and some help getting back on his feet. Wood had a good life once upon time when he’d owned one of the most successful tattoo shops on the Virginia Beach Oceanfront – until a fatal accident that was his fault cost him everything.

Now at forty-six years old, all Wood wants is to work in another shop on the beach and find a mature, easygoing man to settle down with. But when he gets to his new place and finds he has to share the small trailer with Bishop’s childhood friend, he wasn’t expecting a sexy, smart-mouthed brat that enjoys pushing a man to his limits.

Wood pressed in tight until there was only misunderstanding between them, his mouth mere inches from Trent’s parted lips. “You wanted to get a reaction out of me you annoying, immature little shit… now you’ve got one.”

Trent Armstrong has never been considered a catch. He’s a twenty-nine year old laborer, an ex-con, and not the easiest person to get along with. He’s used to being the one people cast to the side when they're done with him. Everyone he’s ever cared about has walked out of his life without a backward glance, so he’s used to the loneliness. His foul mouth and quick temper are a great defense mechanism and an easy way to hide his hurt.

From the moment the tattooed, silver-haired man walked into the house there had been nothing but tension, side-eyeing, and sparks between them. Trent has always held back a side of himself that he’s terrified to explore, and without warning Wood’s voice, his maturity, that maddening scent, and even his damaged past all trigger feelings that Trent thought he’d buried deep long ago.

Trent went completely still when Wood dragged his nose over his forehead and down the side of his face. His voice was shaky, and his breaths were hot and swift along Wood’s throat. “What the hell are you doing?”

“I’m doing what you want me to do.” Wood whispered. “I’m playing your bullshit game, Trent.”

The True Lover's Stories are connected standalones. Each title features a different couple but will contain previously mentioned characters.

No multiple pairings. No cliffhanger. Ends with a HEA.

Note: This is a steaming agnsty, age gap, new-to-love romance.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Wood, the second book in the A True Lover's Story series, is another fabulously gripping read. AE Via captured my heart with this tender tale of two flawed men falling in love.

Although this story could probably be read as a standalone, if you haven't yet read book one, Bishop, stop and do so now. That book is magnificent and will help set up this story.

Wood, fresh out of prison after 17 years behind bars, seeks out his friend Bishop for help. His story thoroughly explores the struggles to re-enter society with the stigmas of being an ex-con attached to one's name. The author excels in exploring these issues, including making amends to those hurt, along with guilt, grief, regret, and remorse. It's a heavy story that definitely requires the reader to be in the right mindset before reading it, so be warned.

Both men have a complicated past, with plenty of inner struggles. They are well developed, with realistic issues and personalities that fully come to life. I already fell for Wood, as his story is just tragic, but Trent's background is also something that explains his prickly actions and makes me want to hug him.

As for the romance, Wood and Trent get off to an awkward start, as they certainly don't mesh well. Their tale is one of forced proximity that brings the men closer together. The age gap is fun and a nice addition to their relationship. And as for the chemistry between the men, well damn, it's intense and hot. They are spectacular together and will leave you happy to have spent time with them.

And then there are the secondary characters, who add a lot to the story, as well as bantering with the men throughout. I love it all.

Wood is a wonderful read. AE Via impresses in this story of learning from one's past and growing from it. Don't miss this one the next time you are looking for a great, serious story, with a happy ending. I can't wait for the next book in this amazing series.

“Are you fucking crazy?”Trent hissed through clenched teeth, but the nerve he’d had behind his earlier words were gone, now replaced with caution…and lust.

“I asked you politely not to call me that. Now, I’m telling you. Don’t. Do it. My name is Herschel Wood, Jr. No middle name. You can call me Herschel, or Wood, that’s it. I would’ve told you that if you’d bothered to ask.” Wood fumed. He had his forearm across Trent’s chest, pushing his back into the closet door at the end of the dark hallway. He couldn’t believe what he was doing, but how dare Trent drive him to the edge like this? Wood pressed in so tight until there was only air and misunderstanding between them, his mouth mere inches from Trent’s parted lips. “You wanted to get a reaction out of me, you annoying, immature little shit…now you’ve got one.”

Trent’s eyes blazed as he tried to shove off the door, but Wood held him in check with his mass. “Fuck you.”Trent grunted, his hot gaze lasered on Wood’s lips.

Wood gave him a smirk and enjoyed as Trent squirmed even more against him. “You think I don’t know the game you’re playing? Maybe no one else does—even though I taught Bishop better—but I can see right through your transparent ass, Trent. So damn clearly.”

Trent’s masked desires were obvious—Wood had seen it the moment he’d laid eyes on him. He knew he hadn’t been wrong. But he’d wanted to leave Trent off-limits. Bishop just wanted them to be friends, but Wood was afraid he was finally going to have to tell his buddy that it wasn’t going to happen. The four of them wouldn’t be hanging out together all the time. There was too much screwed-up shit going on with Trent, and Wood deserved some peaceful days. He didn’t have the patience to put up with crap from hesitant men anymore. He had no doubt that Trent was pushing his buttons…because he wanted Wood to push his in return.

“Wood,” Trent snarled, as he clutched tightly to his shoulders with both hands.

Wood’s answer was another cunning smile. Did Trent even realize that he wasn’t pushing Wood away, he was holding him close? Wood wouldn’t point that out just yet. If Trent wanted to have some fun with him, then fine. He’d entertain himself until it was time for him to leave. He should’ve known this setup was too good to be true. What Trent pulled on him was exactly the kind of typical mess Wood was used to. People judging and condemning him for no reason.

Trent went completely still when Wood dragged his nose over his forehead and down the side of his face. His voice was shaky, and his breaths were hot and swift along Wood’s throat. “The fuck are you doing?”

“I’m doing what you want me to do.” Wood clenched his teeth. “I’m playing your bullshit game, Trent.”

“I’m not playing anything,”he breathed.

“Oh yeah you are.” Wood released Trent suddenly, but he didn’t pull away. He leaned in until his mouth was against Trent’s ear. “But I’m about to show you I’m much better at this game than you are.” Wood slowly eased away, then cocked his head to the side, motioning to Trent’s punishing grip he still had on his shoulders. “Now let me go.”

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW - A Boyfriend for Christmas by Jay Northcote

Cover Design: Garrett Leigh @ Black Jazz Design

Blurb

Archie's posh parents want him to meet a nice girl--how can he tell them he's fallen for a bad boy instead?

Closeted, innocent and lonely, Archie Arandale longs for someone special in his life. A Christmas party organised by his wealth management company is the last place he expects to meet the man of his dreams.

With his leather jacket, tattoos, and piercings, Cal Turner turns heads the moment he walks through the door. He definitely isn't looking for a boyfriend, but Archie's hesitant charm captures his attention, and sneaking off during the party to have a little fun can only make a dull evening more interesting.

After their reckless and thrilling encounter, Archie is keen for more experience and Cal is happy to oblige. The need for secrecy means this can only be a casual fling, yet as they spend time together in the run up to Christmas, their feelings become more intense than either of them had bargained for. How can Archie find the courage to tell his family about Cal, when Cal's the exact opposite of the 'nice girl' they've been hoping for?

Contains: A closeted virgin, a tattooed biker, class differences, a dramatic coming out, a very inappropriate Christmas gift, and a happy ending (of course).

Review
My Rating - 5 Stars!

Once again, Jay Northcote delights his readers with A Boyfriend for Christmas.

This is a story of a hot hookup at a Christmas party that suddenly leads to more. Omg, it's full of fabulous first times, sneaking around, and some tough decisions.

Archie's a closeted rich man, who's parents have high expectation for him.
He's a man stuck in a boring rut that his family set up for  him. But always having been attracted to bad boys, he can't resist the tattooed Cal.

I love the contrast between who Archie is and who he wants to be. The makeup, the, the clothes, everything. The real Archie is fantastic, if he can just be set free.

Their story includes a homophobic family which brings out all the emotions. There is so much more to this tale than just an opposites attract vibe. There's tension, chemistry, and some angst.

And, wow, I love Archie  and Fiona as friends.

Overall, A Boyfriend for Christmas is a great Christmas romance. It's a wonderful story of setting oneself free and claiming their life as their own. Jay Northcote gifts the reader with lovable characters, a delightful storyline, and some good side characters. This is definitely a new favorite of mine from Jay.

Hellion (415 Ink #3) by Rhys Ford

Blurb

From the moment SFPD Detective Ruan Nicholls meets Ivo Rogers, he knew the tattoo artist was going to bring chaos to his neat orderly life. A hellion down to the bone, Ivo is someone Ruan not only doesn’t understand but isn’t even sure he needs to. Everything about Ivo is vibrant, brash, cocky and arrogant and Ruan wants no part of him.

Or at least that’s the lie he tells himself when he damps down his desire for the social wild child life tosses into his path.

For Ivo Rogers, his life revolves around two things; his family and 415 Ink, the tattoo shop he co-owns with his four brothers. His family might be stitched together by their battle scars from growing up in foster care but their brotherhood was tight—and strong enough to hold Ivo together during the times when he fell apart.

Now Ivo faces a new challenge when he falls for a cop with an old-school mentality on what a man looks and acts like. Ruan is the promise of a life Ivo thought he’d never have but their thunderous clashes threaten any chance of a relationship. Being the family’s hellion makes it easy to be misunderstood yet Ivo has faith Ruan will not only embrace who he is but love him as well.

Review
My Rating - 5 Stars!

Hellion, the third book in the 415 Ink series, is an extraordinary novel by Rhys Ford. If you haven't read the previous books, don't worry, this one is easy to follow as a standalone.

Ivo is a complex and sympathetic character. His love interest is the cop who found him years ago. Ruan doesn't want to love Ivo, but he can't stay away from the younger man.

I love the way the two men complement and complete one another. A cop and a tattoo artist, yes please.  Ruan's a tough, strong cop, and Ivo's a tattoo artist with feminine features, while also being masculine.

These are two men from different times and with vastly different experiences. The author beautifully explores the struggle for an older man to be out and free now. Having hid his sexuality for his whole life, remembering a time when it was too dangerous to be out, Ruan painfully struggles with being with the out and femme Ivo.

Their story is raw, real, and very heavy. It is not an easy read. But it's a wonderful one. They are two men who can save each other. Ruan allows Ivo to accept love and steadiness in his life. Ivo challenges Ruan to accept the freedom to be who you are, in addition to putting some color into his mundane life.

The writing is amazing, with two complex characters and a multi-layered story. She is almost poetic in her descriptions, in this tale of accepting and understanding each other's wants and needs. Ivo's way of dress is in conflict with Ruan's views, and causes a lot of conflict between the men. Ruan has to figure out if he can accept Ivo's presence and level of outness, despite it going against everything with which he's comfortable.

Hellion is an exquisite story of taking a chance. I love this amazing May to December, opposites attract romance. It's a powerful tale of being honest with oneself.
