The Hookup and the Hedonist (The Hedonist #8) by Rebecca James

Book 8, final book in the Hedonist Series.

Can I even be called a biker when I can’t ride anymore?

Four years ago, Adam Gamble suffered a head injury that left him with sporadic absence seizures that have limited his autonomy. Hating how much he’s come to rely on his club brothers, Adam decides to move out of the clubhouse.
After failing to rekindle a past relationship, NYPD detective Tyson McCormick is wary of getting into another one anytime soon. An unexpected lunchtime hookup is just what he needs, but afterward, he can’t seem to get Adam out of his mind.
When the two start seeing each other, Adam worries that once he tells Tyson about his condition, things will change between them. Both men want to take things slow, but sometimes love has other ideas.

My Rating - 4 Stars!

The Hookup and the Hedonist is the eight and final book in The Hedonist series by Rebecca James. It definitely is a great way to end the series.

Adam and Tyson's story starts with a hot hookup, but soon leads to so much more.

Their story is beautiful as they each help bring the other back to life. This hurt/comfort aspect is wonderfully done, with both men having things in their pasts that left them effected in a bad way.

And damn, their chemistry is intense. Seriously, the sex really brings these men together.

Their relationship has it's fair share of obstacles, with Adam's secret being one of them. He has a history of seizures, but doesn't want to tell this to Tyson. It definitely gets annoying at times, but it's also understandable. Over all, Adam desperately  wants to be treated as an equal, and not as a delicate flower.

The writing is great, as I've come to expect from this series. And with the addition of great friends and family, everything is just that much better. I love getting to spend time with the other men in the series again.

The Hookup and the Hedonist is a great wrap up to this series. Rebecca James combines a lot of heart and heat into this tale. If you haven't yet met The Hedonists, do yourself a favor and go back and start  with book one, The Ballerino and the Biker. You won't regret it.

A biker's love is poison to the one who captures his heart

Blurb

Grimm

Thirteen years ago, he came into my life as my son’s best friend. Knobby knees and eyes wide with admiration. Six years ago, he exited my life, leaving Smoky Vale behind for good. Or at least so I thought. Now he’s back, and he’s made it clear what he’s after. Me. The President of the Grimm Reapers. His best friend’s father. Now his lover and his protector. But when my life is cloaked with uncertainty, death, and retaliation, how can I keep this beautiful brave boy knowing that my love is poison?

Jamie

My best friend doesn’t understand the way I feel about his dad. My father, the chief of police disapproves of the relationship. My supervisor cautions me against it—that it won’t be long before I end up in a body bag. But one day with Grimm is better than a lifetime without him. It’s a risk I am willing to take because the biker the world knows is not the Daddy Grimm who comes to my bed, ready to bare it all for his boy. Secrets must be confessed, lives must be taken, new paths must be forged. Can we survive the war that’s about to rage in Smoky Vale?

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Biker Daddy, the first book in The Grimm Tales of Smoky Vale series, is a fantastic  romance by Gianni Holmes.

As the title suggests, this is a fun and spicy Daddy romance between Grimm and his son's best friend, Jamie. And I am still in awe of how wonderful and unique it is.

Jamie's long been in love with Grimm. When Jamie left he told Grimm he'd be back for him and now he's back to claim him offically. Seriously, Jamie's flirting and devotion is outstanding in it's strength and it's humor.

This is definitely not the normal best friend's father romance. There's no sneaking around, there's no hiding their feelings from everyone. Nope. This one is super fun, as Jamie is ruthless in his persuit of his "Daddy Grimm."

And oh my, openly gay bikers? Yes please!

Their story includes family issues, danger, action, and more. They have to deal with a cruel boss and a whole lot of pain, hurt, loss, and love.

I absolutely love this author's writing style. She continues to hook me immediately and kept me intrigued throughout. The storyline is complex, with multi-layered characters and a thrilling plot. Told in alternating 1st person pov, the reader is easily able to feel everything along with the characters.

Biker Daddy is an emotional read with complicated relationships and secrets unveiled. This Gianni Holmes story is humorous, hot, and sexy. I will definitely be re-reading this one often. In the meanwhile, I am anxiously waiting to see what happens next in this series.

Excerpt

“Rise and shine, Jamie.” I gently patted the cheek of the sleeping beauty in my bed, nestled beneath the comforter, face pressed into the pillow. I was prepared for it to take some time to wake him up. Jamie wasn’t a morning person at all, and he would bitch and complain about getting up at the ass crack of dawn as he had for the past three days.

I was dead serious, though, about him learning to take care of himself if he planned to stick around, so there was no compromise.

He blinked sleepy eyes awake, took one look at my grin, and with a groan, ducked beneath the covers. He was so fucking cute, looking at him made my heart ache. I was tempted to let him get some more sleep. Just half an hour more.

I pushed away the thought before I could give in. Cuteness wouldn’t save his ass if he ever came face-to-face with someone who wanted to do him bodily harm.

“The alarm didn’t even go off,” he wailed under the sheet.

“You kidding me? You snoozed the alarm four times already. Now get up.”

“Just five more minutes,” he begged.

“We don’t have five more minutes. Zak’s waiting for us, and you still need to get to the bathroom.”

“But I’m so tired. You shouldn’t have kept me up last night.”

“You insisted on staying for the party at the clubhouse,” I reminded the lump in my bed. “I had to pry you away when you started dancing on the tabletop, remember?”

The sheet lowered a fraction, and he peered at me. “Zak challenged me.”

I grunted at him. “Jeez, to think a medical student can’t avoid dumb dares. What will the rest of us lesser educated men do?”

“But I’m no longer a medical student, so I can shake my ass from any tabletop.”

I quirked an eyebrow at him “No, you can’t. That’s the last party you’ll ever go to if you don’t get out of that bed.”

The sheet went back over his head. “I’ll sleep some more, thank you.”

When it became clear he wasn’t getting out of bed, I was left with no choice. I scooped him up in my arms, bedsheets and all. He squealed like a stuck pig and squirmed, but I didn’t let him loose. I marched him into the bathroom, then stripped away the covers, leaving him standing in the bathroom with a pillow in his arms, his face registering shock.

“Come on.” I pulled the pillow out of his arms and threw it back through the door into the bedroom. “You have to be disciplined about this. Your safety’s important to me.”

When his lips turned down in a pout, I gave him another inch. “You play nice, and I’ll suck your dick in the shower.”

His eyes widened, and he smiled. “Why didn’t you just say so in the first place?”

My Rating - 3 Stars!

Van Cole's Havoc is a short, super fast biker menage.

I enjoy the family aspect of the Brothers of Chaos bike club, and Bobby's reasons for wanting to join. They're all men who don't fit in anywhere else, but together form a huge family.

Bobby's always longed to be a part of something bigger than himself. He longs for a family who he can trust no matter what. When Bobby asks to join the biker club, he immediately notices the tension between leaders Mal and Jimi. Mal's an interesting guy who doesn't take to Bobby, creating some fun moments.

The reader gets to follow along as Bobby proves himself worthy to the club.
The story's ok, but isn't anything that stands out. However, I definitely enjoyed the sex scenes towards the end

My Rating - 5 Stars!

As I've come to expect from Rebecca James' Hedonist Series, The Brat and the Bossman is a riveting and complex romance.

It's always fun when a man discovers he's not as straight as he thought, which is exactly what happens to Blaze. He's the tough owner of a porn studio and is the leader of the Hedonists MC.

When he meets Lake, Lake is close to hitting rock bottom. Lake certainly can't survive much longer at the pace he's working, and with all the people he's in contact with daily.

Lake and Blaze are fantastic together. They're a compelling pair, who have a tough road to travel to be together. They're two men who are not only sweet together, but also hot.

Lake's background is fascinating. He's such a brave and courageous young man. He's been abused, assaulted and is still standing tall. He certainly isn't ready to accept Blaze's love, but he certainly can't resist the hot biker. After all, it's Blaze who keeps saving him. It's Blaze who's protecting him. It's Blaze who's making him feel. And it's Blaze who will make him realize he's strong and a survivor.

Overall, it's a tender tale of self-discovery, overcoming past trauma and issues, and taking chances on love. Blaze's discovery of being attracted to Lake, and his subsequent reactions are a whole lot of fun. I love the way he reacts and his ability to accept his sexuality. Lake's a wonderful character who I fell in love with immediately. Both the changes that take place in him and the growth he experiences are just delightful and impressive.

Did I mention that Lake is a dancer, as in a pole dancer? Yeah, this leads to some sensual moments.

The porn scenes are well written, and super intriguing. I can't wait to read more about Tony.

I love the Hedonist Series and look forward to seeing what happens next. Each book has drawn me in and hooked me until the end. They can be read as standalones, but are definitely more fun if read in order.

GRL 2018 SPOTLIGHT - Rebecca James - The Ballerino and the Biker (The Hedonist #1)

In my attempt to cover some of the attending authors for this year's GRL,
I am reviewing

The Ballerino and The Biker!

BLURB

Warning: This book contains a scene of mild assault and battery.
Most of his young life, Morgan Wentworth has dreamed of becoming a principal dancer in a prestigious corps de ballet. After years studying the art in Milan, Morgan comes home to New York City to apprentice with the Manhattan Ballet Company only to be hit by the unexpected death of his older brother, Jake. The grieving dancer learns his life is threatened by a dangerous rival motorcycle gang and that pierced, tattooed, HOT biker Zeke Ivers has been assigned by Jake’s MC to guard him. Saddled with the constant presence of the infuriating man, Morgan juggles the demands of an exhausting dance schedule as well as his new responsibilities as CEO of his family’s multi-million-dollar company. He never expects to develop an attraction for the straight, obnoxious biker, but that’s exactly what happens.
Estranged from an abusive family, Zeke Ivers has lived at the Sentinel’s club house and worked on cars since he was a teen. When fellow club member Jake Wentworth and a rival club president’s girl are killed on Jake’s bike, the Sentinel’s president delegates the protection of Jake’s little brother, Morgan, to Zeke. Zeke would do anything for the club that pulled him off the streets, but Morgan’s a ballet dancer, for Christ’s sake, as well as annoying as hell. Still, Zeke finds himself inexplicably drawn to the young man. The more attracted Zeke becomes to Morgan, the more the biker is forced to examine his sexuality and decide whether two people from opposite sides of the tracks could possibly have a future together, or if Zeke should do what is fast becoming too painful to consider: let Morgan go.

REVIEW
My Rating - 5 Stars!

In my attempts to read new-to-me GRL Authors, I finally read The Ballerino and the Biker. This Rebecca James gem has been sitting in my kindle for a while. Now I am left wondering why the heck I waited so long.

I adore this book! Morgan and Zeke meet when Zeke tries to kidnap Morgan, all in the means of protecting him. It’s a fun and entertaining meet. I love how Morgan reacts to this large stranger.

Morgan is just adorable. He’s had a tough life, is alone after losing his parents and brother, and now he’s in danger. With Zeke protecting him, the emotions run high. There are some extremely tough scenes, where he breaks down, and you can feel his pain jumping off the page.

And Zeke. I love Zeke. It’s sweet the way he handles Morgan, and even better when he starts to realize the chemistry between him and Morgan.

They have some things they’ll need to deal with before they can be together though, including family issues, a homophobic father, the gang after Morgan, and a crazy stalker.

I am thrilled to have finally read this fantastic story. Now I’m on to book 2 in this Rebecca James series!

I've always loved to write and have written since I was a child, usually to entertain my family. I enjoy writing m/m romance because there's nothing hotter than two men in a loving relationship. I write contemporary romance but am not limited to that. I enjoy writing alpha/omega and vampire stories, and I wouldn't rule other things out. I'm very prolific, so look for a lot of things to come!
