Maddie (Hamilton's Heroes #3) by Annabella Michaels

Amazon Link - Available in KU

Blurb

After witnessing firsthand just how dirty and underhanded a life in politics can be, Maddie Vanderhorne steps off the campaign trail to follow his passion. Starting his own event planning business is the best decision Maddie’s ever made, quickly winning over his clients with his vibrant and outgoing personality. That is, until he finds himself working alongside one very serious and seemingly impenetrable man.

Still haunted by the events of his past, Graham Ward has closed himself off from nearly everyone around him. He’s learned the hard way that letting people get too close only ends in heartache and disaster. Burying himself in his work and keeping everyone at a distance seems like the best solution. When his father comes to him with plans to announce his retirement, Graham knows that in order to take over his father’s role as head of the company, he must find a way to open himself up again.

When Graham steps up to host his father’s retirement party, the last thing he expects is the party planner to leave him feeling annoyed and perplexed. He’s never met anyone as vivacious and full of life as Maddie. He’s not quite sure how to respond to the boundless energy this man possesses - or the feelings Maddie seems to be resurrecting within him. Forced to work closely on this event, Maddie is determined to pull Graham out of his shell. But will opening himself up help Graham rediscover the man he once was; or will it leave him vulnerable to having his heart broken once again?

**This book is part of the Hamilton’s Heroes world but can be read as a standalone novel.

Annabella Michaels' Maddie, the third book in the Hamilton Heroes series, is an amazing romance.

Graham's a man who's been barely living, isolating himself, closing himself off from being hurt again. He wants nothing to do with Graham, the party planner who's hired to work with him. But then...

One can't help but to be affected by Mattie. He's totally loveable, a complete breath of fresh air. He sees beauty in the world and helps Graham to look around him for a change. Be prepared for many sweet moments.

They make for a fantastic couple. Complete opposites in most ways, they do have a few things in common. Together they are intriguing, supportive, and absolutely romantic. The changes that Mattie bring out in Graham are inspiring.

Graham's family is wonderful. Their absolute support of Graham makes for some loving and tender scenes. They add greatly to the story and I love their involvement in everything.

Maddie is a story of finding someone who makes you feel again, someone who inspires you to live again. This Annabella Michaels' tale is fabulous. I love these guys and I love every second of their story.

Not even the darkest night can extinguish the radiance of two loving hearts coming together.

Life is a daily celebration for Adrian Pontimore, the hottest new event planner for the Manhattan elite. His days are a high-priced whirlwind of cocktail parties, weddings, conventions, tea parties, housewarmings, and baby showers. Everything is simply amazing for the owner of Quintessentially Adrian Event Designs. Until the dark and hate-filled side of life rears its ugly head, tearing apart the delicate happy bubble that Adrian has constructed around himself.

If not for the bravery of one of New York’s finest, Adrian’s days fussing over décor and bridal parties might have come to an abrupt end. There’s something about a man in uniform, but there is something extra special about Officer Galen Ellison. Not only did he save Adrian’s life, he’s slowly winning his heart. It’s going to take time, patience, and good humor to help Adrian overcome the fears that haunt the shadows now, but those are qualities that the handsome, affable beat cop seems to have an abundance of.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

VL Locey's Reserved, the fourth book in the Tales of Bryant series, is positively charming.

Adrien is hysterical, full of sass, sparkle, and attitude. The reader can't help but to fall in  love with him immediately. I love the way he talks, dresses, and his brash attitude. The fact that he takes a liking to Galen, a cop who's his complete opposite only adds to the fun.

These two opposites find not only attraction, but also love, as Adrien heals from an attack. And oh the emotions involved. Not only is his body broken, but also his spirit. The result is a slow, touching journey towards healing.

The writing is stellar, with two intriguing characters and a wonderful storyline. Once again, the author manages to capture some of the atmosphere of NYC, including the different parts of the city. If you're familiar with the city, this series that revolves around the iconic Bryant Park is sure to warm your heart.

Reserved is a story with an interracial couple, a brutal attack, and horrific homophobia slurs. It's a tough read at a few parts, but it's a wonderful story. VL Locey once again impresses me with the depth of her characters and the surprises she throws our way. If you've been reading this series, you will be thrilled to see this new side of the charismatic Adrien.

Piñatas and Paintbrushes (Hearts of Snow Lake Book 3) by Ashton Cade

Blurb

Sebastian:

He’s a shining star, I’m a black hole. Complete opposites. And just like our astronomic counterparts, there’s no way Marty’s light is ever going to brighten me. Black holes don’t let any light escape. They devour it all. And that’s what will happen to Marty if he doesn’t keep his distance from me. I want to warn him, but there’s a selfish part of me that can’t do it.

Like a moth, I’m drawn to Marty’s light. I know I should stay away—for his sake more than mine—but I can’t. A better man would do the hard thing and stay away. Not me. The fact that this time the easy way lines up with my self-centered desire to spend more time with him, is only a bonus.

He doesn’t know that I’ve already declared this over in my head. He thinks he does, but he's lying to himself. Part of me resists it as well, though. Part of me is determined to give this a real go and not lose my chance with him. Because if I back out now and regret it later, it could be too late.

Which is worse? Missing my chance, or opening myself up to the agony I already know so intimately?

Marty:

Me: I know what I’m doing, and I know Sam’s not after anything serious. It’s fine. I can handle it.
Narrator: He could not handle it.

Some folks say I live in a dreamworld. It's partly true; I run a party planning business in the idyllic town of Snow Lake and I love every minute of it. But when I watch my friends partner up and look so happy, I hide the sadness that threatens to engulf me. Nobody needs to know how deep that particular pit goes.

When Sebastian arrives in Snow Lake, I bring him a welcome basket, like I do for everyone. But when I actually take in that tall, muscular frame and dark artist's mystique, I practically want to organize a parade complete with marching band and an interpretive dance about how much he turns me on.

So what if he says he only wants a casual thing? A hookup is better than not getting my hands on that body. And besides, how can he not fall in love with me?

I'm charming. I deserve love. Right?

I am in love with Ashton Cade's Hearts of Snow Lake series. The third book, Pinatas and Paintbrushes, is a fantastic addition.

In this story, a grieving and troubled artist meet a small town man, who happens to be the life of the party. The small town feel is well written, easily transporting the reader to this place.

As for the men, both are interesting and complex characters. Sebastian is lost in a world of pain, grief, and guilt. Then Marty shows up and is like a breath of fresh air. These two men are complete opposites, and it's entertaining to see the differences not getting in their way.

They have to deal with homophobia and sabotage, in addition to a painful past, and the fear of pain and agony.

Pinatas and Paintbrushes is a story of recovery and healing. This Ashton Cade book is a beautiful story of accepting that you deserve to live a full and happy life. I loved every second of it.
