Here Without You (Cooper's Ridge #2) by J.J. Harper

Goodreads Link

Archer Hawkins and Mallory Halston literally run into each other and a true love story is born. Archer pursues Mallory with absolute determination making him fall hook, line, and sinker.

“I really would like to get to know you, Mallory.” His voice husky in my ear.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea, I’m sorry.” I’m already kicking myself for turning him down. “That’s okay, I’ll ask again tomorrow, and the day after, I’ll get you to say yes in the end.”

But just when they’re about to get everything they ever hoped tragedy strikes leaving Mal alone and adrift. Putting his past behind him Mal stumbles upon Cooper’s Ridge. Changing his name to Carter, he takes a chance, becoming a bartender at The Last Drop Inn, and embarking on a new life.

Local attorney, Dan Mortimer, has finally found and captured the heart of Cooper’s Ridge’s newest resident, Carter.

“I was coming in to see you, and maybe get you to agree to dinner with me. C’mon Carter it’s only dinner, I’m a nice guy I promise.”

But when Dan’s college friend comes to town to recuperate after a horrible car accident, it seems the most important men in his life may have something to answer for. And just how far will an evil, conniving, homophobic mother with a vendetta go to bring them all down?

This book can be read as a standalone
Here Without You is a gay ménage story with plenty of hot sex and strong language and is therefore suitable for readers aged 18 and over.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Here Without You is the second book in Cooper's Ridge series. This JJ Harper book is a delightful menage romance.

This one starts off fast, as in extremely fast, with Archer and Mallory moving in together faster than I expected. But, there's a reason for that, as this story isn't about their initial time together.

I had mixed feelings about this one. It's tough to get emotionally invested in the relationships at first. All of the relationships. Each seems to just start with the sex, and later we get the emotional attachment.

But, in the end, I enjoy the story, the twists and turns, and the angst. As for the coincidences, they're over the top forced, but I'm able to overlook that.

This is a story with a manipulative mother, a homophobic father, and some wonderful redemption. The author excels in gifting these men with character growth and helping them to heal.

And damn, I love the three together. And the sex is amazingly hot. The three definitely make each other better people. Dan heals them and brings the others back together. It's beautiful.

Here Without You is a delightful menage. Ultimately, I enjoy this KK Harper read. It's messy and emotional, with a fabulous ending.

RELEASE BLITZ, EXCERPT & REVIEW - Exquisitely Yours (Sin City Tale #3) by M. Jay Granberry

Title: Exquisitely Yours
Series: Sin City Tale #3
Author: M. Jay Granberry
Genre: Secret Romance
Release Date: July 27, 2021

I don’t take anything too seriously.

Not the career that’s brought me fame and fortune, or the never ending string of women that fill my bed, and definitely not myself.

But life has a way of turning on a dime.

The party is over.

All the jokes have been told.

One beautiful face blurs with the next beautiful body and all I feel is…empty.

Until her.

The sexy complication too intelligent to ignore and too complicated to keep.

Jessica Johnson isn’t supposed to be in my world but now that she is I plan to make sure she enjoys the ride.

So, what happens in Vegas…?

Boundaries are crossed.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Exquisitely Yours is a fabulous addition to the Sin City Tales series. This M Jay Granberry series is full of rock, sex, and love.

God, I love this story. Everything about Jessica and Daniel oozes sex. They are awesome together; sensual and full of emotion.

Daniel's one of the bandmates who finds himself intensely attracted to the sister of Sin's fiancee. Yikes.

The whole time they ooze steam, with the scenes perfectly hot and seductive, the reader can feel the tension this can invite. Ugh! Love it!

I adore Daniel and the way Jessica makes him want more than his groupie sex lifestyle. He craves her and starts to crave more. All the while, he's messing with fire, and it's awesome.

The forbidden romance and opposites attract elements are everything in this story. They add plenty of fun and tension to the storyline, making the emotions intensify. Love it all!

This is a story of family expectations and a rich mother wanting certain things for her children. Obviously this adds to the story, but damn, I wanted to smack her.

There's a lot going on in this story and I love it all!

Exquisitely Yours is a wonderful read. This M Jay Granberry story is the perfect book when you're in the mood for a rocker being knocked to his knees.

“Don’t think, Jessie. Fall.”
For a second the microscopic space between our lips is a chasm too wide to cross.
Insecurity and self-doubt double down.
The insidious message—I’m not hot enough, sexy enough, experienced enough— get louder with each repetition. The idea that I can’t be anything more than a sad little notch on his massive bedpost. An embarrassed, sad little notch especially when compared to all the others.
My experience consists of scintillating missionary and barely achieved orgasms. Can’t really imagine blowing his mind.
“Stop thinking. Just...” His eyes close and he takes a deep inhale through his nose before saying in a strained voice. “Fall.”
I hesitate. My nerves are completely at war with my common sense.
Daniel opens his eyes and probes mine for long seconds before he speaks. “I swear I’ll catch you.”

M. Jay Granberry is first and foremost an insatiable reader.
Among her favorite things are classic fairy tales, smutty books where characters have heart, old lady sweaters (preferably chunky knit), gift baskets (giving not receiving), and charcuterie trays (green olives, smoked cheese, and Genoa salami).
She is a true Las Vegas native, the one in Nevada not New Mexico, and to answer the most frequently asked questions about growing up in Sin City…
  • No, she doesn’t live in a hotel.
  • No, she has never been a stripper although she does know some.
  • Prostitution is absolutely illegal in Clark County (Las Vegas)!
  • And what happens in Vegas does indeed stay in Vegas.
M. Jay earned a degree in words and stories, and after fifteen plus years of doing everything other than writing, she penned her first novel.
Giving a voice to characters, that are strong yet fragile, that are sometimes uncomfortably real, that express love in dirtiest ways with the sweetest sentiments is honestly a dream come true.

Running to Him (Men of Monument #1) by P.D. Singer

Blurb

Fresh out of college with a chemistry degree, Tim Ratliff’s desperate to move out on his own. He yearns for his own home, his own rules, and the freedom to find the kind of man he’s always dreamed of for his first time. Tim’s applied at every laboratory he can find, but his job search is coming up crickets.
Monument Pharma would be his dream job, and Lorraine in Human Resources swears he’s a shoo-in to be hired. Wonderful, except that’s the one job he dare not take.
At thirty-three, Carson Eddinger’s life is just about perfect—a great position at Monument Pharma, nice home, sweet ride—except for the no boyfriend part. And the constant sniping from the woman in Human Resources.
She isn’t just a thorn in Carson’s side at work—she’s also Tim’s mom, and she has a white picket fence plan for Tim that definitely doesn’t involve a happy ever after with Carson.
They’ve poked the bear. Now they have to outrun it.

Review
My Rating - 5 Stars!

Running to Him is one of those lovable books that I couldn't put down. PD Singer manages to create a sweet romance with some insane events. And it's wonderful!

This is a romance between Tim and Carson, two men with an age gap and a controlling woman standing in their way. Tim's mom is nuts and goes out of her way to keep her son apart from her co-worker Carson.

Wow, just wow, she is absolutely insane. A completely manipulative control freak, she is deranged with the steps she takes against Tim and Carson. Yet, as horrible as she is, her rants are actually funny since they are so over the top.

Aww, but she can only stand in their way so long. After all, Carson thinks Tim is cute! Trust me, you'll enjoy that reference when you read it.

Their story includes extreme parental control, office politics, and an enjoyable May to Sept romance. It includes finding the strength and support to stand up for oneself and fighting for what one deserves in life.

This book is non-stop fun, with interesting characters, both good and bad, and a thrilling storyline. I love it all. The writing style is great and flows well, with excellent dialogue and a delightful storyline.

Running to Him is a downright enjoyable May to September romance. Definitely read this one when you're in the mood for a villian getting what they deserve. This tale is riveting and absolutely amazing! I can't recommend it enough.

The Dangerous Art of Blending In by Angelo Surmelis

Blurb

A raw, powerful, but ultimately uplifting debut novel perfect for fans of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe from debut author Angelo Surmelis.
Seventeen-year-old Evan Panos doesn’t know where he fits in. His strict immigrant Greek mother refuses to see him as anything but a disappointment. His quiet, workaholic father is a staunch believer in avoiding any kind of conflict. And his best friend, Henry, has somehow become distractingly attractive over the summer.
Tired, isolated, scared—Evan finds that his only escape is to draw in an abandoned monastery that feels as lonely as he is. And yes, he kissed one guy over the summer. But it’s Henry who’s now proving to be irresistible. Henry, who suddenly seems interested in being more than friends. And it’s Henry who makes him believe that he deserves more than his mother’s harsh words and terrifying abuse.
But as things with Henry heat up, and his mother’s abuse escalates, Evan has to decide how to find his voice in a world where he has survived so long by being silent.
This is a powerful and revelatory coming-of-age novel based on the author’s own childhood, about a boy who learns to step into his light.

REVIEW
My Rating - 5 Stars!

The Art Of Blending In is an amazing young adult story by Angelo Surmelis.

This is not an easy read so please be aware before reading. Evan suffers a lot of physical abuse, in addition to the vile verbal abuse.

Evan is a seventeen year old gay boy whose family will do anything to beat the gay out of him. His mother is by far, one of the worst examples of a mother ever. She belittles him, threatens him, abuses him physically and verbally, even repeatedly telling him that he should die.

So how is a young man supposed to deal with this? His friend Henry is the only one who he can even think of admitting the truth to, but even that will have bad consequences.

Evan's story is full of obstacles, as he cannot keep living with this level of abuse. He needs to get away from them.

The Art of Blending In is powerful, poignant and completely unexpected. Angelo Surmelis pens it with thought, purpose and empathy. It is definitely worth the read!
