My Rating - 5 Stars!

Top Shelf is the first book in the Boston Rebels series. This RJ Scott and VL Locey read is the start of another hockey series by this duo. Yay!

Oh, how I love this book. It's everything I love about these authors and their hockey romances. And on this team you'll find Brady, the brother of my favorite man Ten!

Seriously, this is super fun, getting to expand on the hockey world these authors have created, and getting to know a new team.

The sexual chemistry is intense and hot. The reader can feel all the connection between the two completely. 

There's a forbidden romance aspect, as Mason is Xander's best friend's younger brother. 

This story has the classic closeted athlete element which is my favorite. There are the typical issues with coming out and being accepted. I love it all. 

Top Shelf is a wonderful read, with me reading late into the night. Everything about this writing duo continues to impress me. One can only assume more fantastic books will follow in this series. But for now, read this one. You will love it.

Excerpt 1

“Thanks. That means a lot.” I got a little emotional. Eli gave my shoulders a squeeze.
“It’s great that you’re willing to toss the gloves for me but maybe you should let me handle any instigators. Remember the last time you threw down with Adler Lockhart? The dude whipped you like a rug.”

Eli made that pig-like snort sound. “In my defense, he caught me unaware with some stupid joke about a rabbit, a priest, and minister walking into a bar. While I was trying to figure out whether he meant rabbit or rabbi, he sucker punched me in the face.”

“Dude, that was no sucker punch. People in the rafters saw it coming.”

Eli tugged me into his chest. We bro hugged for a long time then we broke apart. “We better get to that meeting, but we’re not done discussing this. And don’t ever hide shit from me again. We made a blood pact.”

I smiled. The first smile to grace my face in days. “I won’t do it again.”

Excerpt 2

When our parents died, Eli had become my guardian at nineteen,  me only fifteen, a pseudo parent who didn’t know how to back off. He fussed and corralled and took me all over the country with him until I was old enough to go to college and then get a job. 

Not that I’d moved far from him given I lived in Eli’s pool house free of charge and had no college loans to pay off. Being the little brother of a millionaire pro skater had its pluses. I would pay him back every cent one day, but it wasn’t happening now. In contrast to Becca’s fading jersey, I wore the newest design I could get my hands on because hey, I got perks, and Eli had a ton of them just sitting in his office. The only shitty thing was that it also had some minuses.

Like the fact I was hopelessly in love with my brother’s best friend—Boston’s world-class pushy irritatingly perfect D-Man, Xander freaking Holden.
