I’m not a fan of Christmas. I’m happy to stay up in my mountain cabin and let the silly season pass me by.  But when a friend asks for a favor, I can’t say no.  Now I’m stuck in my cabin during a snowstorm, trapped with the most beautiful man I’ve ever met—who can’t wait to get away. He just might break my heart when he goes.

Ravi

I’m racing to get home for the birth of my goddaughter when mechanical troubles force my plane’s emergency landing. There are no beds at the inn due to a horrendous storm, but a friend says she knows a guy who won’t mind putting me up until the bad weather passes.  Now I’m trapped with that man, and I must decide if I stay, hiding from the rest of the world, or go and face my past to earn a shot at my happily ever after.

This is a 72k word, hurt/comfort, lumberjack/nurse, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity MM romance novel with a moderate amount of angst.

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Ginger Snapping All The Way is an emotional holiday romance by Gabbi Grey. I feel into this one easily and couldn't put it down.

This story starts off with some insta love between Mad and Ravi. They're likable from the start and it's easy to root for them.

This is a story of opposites, both of whom have some tough times in their pasts to deal with. This story has some serious moments and some difficult situations. But it's also wonderfully sweet, with lots of heart, and some major heat.

Their story takes place over a short time period, with some forced proximity pushing the two to deal with things quickly.

The writing is wonderful, with some fantastic characters and a riveting storyline. I enjoy the dialog and the sensitivity the author brings to their writing.

Ginger Snapping All The Way is a great read. Gabbi Grey certainly puts them men through some tough times to get their hard fought happy ending. But rest assured, it's all worth it. This is definitely worth a read when you're in the mood for a hurt/comfort holiday romance.

All of a sudden, the mechanical whirr of a window descending sounded through the cabin, and within moments, a blast of cold air hit my neck.

“Jesus, Sofia.”

I glanced in the side mirror, and damned if the dog didn’t have her head stuck out the window. She must’ve climbed over my bag and, apparently, knew how to lower the window.

Impressive.

“I’m rolling up the window.”

More whirring, and an indignant yip.

I didn’t speak dog, but I knew pissed when I heard it.

“I don’t care.” Maddox gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles were white.

Another yip.

“Okay. One French fry. But that’s all you’re getting. Zephyra said no more treats.”

I hesitated. None of my business, but I couldn’t help myself. “Uh, if you don’t mind me asking, who is Zephyra?” I probably didn’t need to know, but this was the first conversation in about fifteen minutes, and even if I was interrupting dog/human communication, I wanted in on the discussion.

“Dr. Zephyra Dixon is Sophia’s veterinarian. Her clinic is across from the A&W, and she might have spotted me giving Sophia a French fry.”

Two quick successive yaps.

Ah, now the truth was coming out.

Sofia placed her front paws on the center console by my elbow and nuzzled my ear again.

“Holy crap, dog, you’re all wet.” And cold.

“Hence the reason I don’t want her rolling down the window. Doesn’t have the sense God gave her.”

I glanced over my shoulder to find a grinning pup. Oh, she was mighty pleased with herself.

“At least she’s strapped in.” I’d noticed that. Some kind of harness system. She could go back and forth between the two back windows and come up to the front console, but was clearly secured.

“There’s a reason for that.”

I waited, but no further elucidation came. “Care to share?”

A grunt. “Not long after I got her, we were driving home from town. When I arrived at my place, the back seat was empty.” He shot a quick glare at the dog who didn’t appear the least bit cowed. “She won’t tell me if she slipped or jumped, but she’d gone out the window when I’d slowed down to make a left. Took me two hours of walking the back roads. Finally, someone stopped and told me where they’d seen her. Little shit.” That last bit was muttered, but clearly audible.

I turned to face Sofia. “That must have been traumatizing.”

A snort. “Little dear was lapping up the luxury in someone’s backyard, sunning herself after a dip in the kiddie pool. Damn lucky no one shot her.”

“Shot her?” I pressed a hand to my chest.

“Plenty of my neighbors have guns. Wouldn’t be legal, but that wouldn’t stop some of them. She lucked out.”

I tweaked her nose. “Did you hurt yourself?”

A snicker. “She was just fine. Shaved a couple of years off my life, but she was no worse for wear.”

Ah, so he did have a heart.

For his dog, at least.

Web of Lies (The Goode Life #2) by Isla Olsen

Amazon Link   - Available in KU

Jesse

My little brother is getting married and I couldn’t be happier…

Well, maybe I could if I hadn’t just been dumped by the boyfriend I thought was about to propose, kicked out of my New York apartment, and, worst of all, lost one of the pediatric patients under my care at the hospital where I work as a nurse.

With the current sh*tstorm that is my life, who could blame me for going a little overboard on the cocktails at the bachelor weekend in Vegas?

Me. I could blame me. Especially when I wake up with the hangover from hell and the memory of marrying my arch-nemesis, Webster Goode, in a ceremony caught on camera by the reality show Real Vegas Weddings.

There’s only one clear path forward: get through my brother’s wedding, get an annulment, and get back to New York and my normal life. All without anyone finding out what Web and I did in Vegas.

But it turns out correcting that big mistake won’t be as easy as I’d first thought, and keeping our secret from the Finchley gossip machine could be damn near impossible…

The truth is, the more time I spend with Web, the more I start to realize there might be a very thin line between love and hate…

Come visit Finchley, CA, where the sun’s always shining, the locals are always gossiping, and you won’t walk two steps without bumping into a member of the Goode family. If you’re lucky, you might find gold; or, even better…true love.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Web of Lies is the second book in Isla Olsen's The Goode Life series. And wow, what a fabulous series it is so far!

Jesse and his former friend Webster have an ugly history. Current enemies, they still have had to deal with their families being friends. But, oh how I adore the way everything develops between the two, even if it's all a little ridiculous. Hell, I'm not even sure what to say about what happens in Vegas. But I certainly don't hate it.

The big "aha!" moment seemed a little strange in it's timing, but I don't care. It's all cute and sweet.

The men are certainly great together, full of attitude and strangely never fighting it out. They banter and argue but never yell about their pasts. Instead, we get their stubborn sides that puts them in some crazy situations.

As for the sex, oh boy, it's hot! They certainly have chemistry in spades.

Jesse. Sweet Jesse. I love the nurse side of Jesse. As a pediatric nurse, I love how he cares for his patients.

And oh dear lord. The facebook posts, the texts, and chats are hysterical. This family is fabulous. I love it all. The Goode family keeps me delighted throughout. Everything about them make me smile.

Overall, Web of Lies is an amazing addition to this series. Isla Olsen once again leaves me smiling and laughing throughout. I can't wait to see what happens next.

MF - True North (Compass #1) by Aria Wyatt

Lena

I’m a woman in exile.

Well . . . okay, maybe that’s a little extreme. My boss called it a temporary leave of absence, right before he offered me a promotion on my way out the door.

What does one do with two weeks to kill and big life decisions to make? If you’re me, you hop a plane to Alaska for a solitary retreat.

I wanted silence and tranquility. The time and space to think. I wasn’t prepared for what I got: THE Wes Emerson.

The Australian actor is too gorgeous—and too irresistible—for his own good. An infuriating mix of cocky and charismatic, he’s made it his mission to antagonize me.

But no matter how much I want to believe his flirting is genuine, I’m not stupid. Let’s be real, Wes is way out of my league, and I’ll be an afterthought as soon as this vacation is over.

Wes

It was supposed to be a guys’ trip.

Just me and my best mates at a remote lodge in Alaska’s Far North. They promised a breather from the stifling attention. Nature. Seclusion. Two weeks with no cameras, no autographs, and definitely no women.

Tell that to the snarky New York nurse who snagged the resort’s last vacancy.
Lena Hamilton is the wildcard I never expected to be dealt.

She’s got a dirty mind and a smart mouth. She doesn’t just rattle my cage, she bites back, pushing buttons I didn’t know I had. Her soft heart and fiery spirit make me ache for things I’ve sworn off for years. Something more. Something deeper.

Lena doesn’t believe I truly want her, but when we find ourselves at the mercy of the Alaskan wilderness, she has no choice but to trust me.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

True North is the first book in Aria Wyatt's Compass series.

Wes and Lena meet on a wilderness Alaskan trip. Lena's just looking to get away, never expecting to find herself on a trip with the famous actor Wes and his friends.

The two have nothing in common, as well as living on opposite sides of the world. The two flirt, and are full of push and pull for a long time.

Both have some major baggage. It takes a while for Wes's issues to be revealed, but when they are, I feel deeply in love for this man who's drowning in guilt. And then there's Lena who's suffering from PTSD and definitely needs some healing.

With plenty of twists and turns, Lena, Wes, and his friends end up trying to survive the elements. It's a crazy and long ride, with several heart stopping moments. The deal with injuries, hunger, thirst, dangerous animals, and more.

The writing is good and the storyline is full of adventure, romance, and heat. The main characters are fabulous and the secondary characters are all intriguing.  I love the friendship between the guys and all their banter.

True North is an enjoyable wilderness romance. I'm excited to see what Aria Wyatt has in store for this series next.

Stay by Ash Knight

A quiet coffee shop gives two men who have lost too much a chance at love.

Joe Calloway has been on the run since he was sixteen, homeless and alone. He never lets anyone close. Between his traumatic past and his autism, he isn’t used to people taking the time to understand him.

Even so, when a stranger offers him a way to build a better life for himself, Joe finds the strength to go for it.

Madden Fields is fully devoted to his older sister, her autistic son, and his job as a nurse, but when he meets Joe, his carefully ordered life begins to pick up speed.

As their connection deepens, Madden realizes he’s going to have to hold on tight if he wants to be an anchor strong enough for Joe to stay.

“Stay” is a 88,000 words gay hurt/comfort romance novel.'

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Stay is an absolutely beautiful story. This Ash Knight tale is a wonderful hurt/comfort read.

Omg, the first scene broke my heart. Joe and his bunny. I wanted to save them both. It's a truly heartbreaking scene that perfectly sets up the rest of the story.

There's a lot going on in this story, but the main thing is that Joe is homeless, lived with some horrific abuse, and is on the spectrum. His autism is perfectly written, with the different way of processing things, and the literal thinking. The author illustrates his withdrawal, his fear, and his hiding. I appreciate how well the author approached all of this. It's definitely written with care and knowledge.

Before we even get to Madden, we need to discuss Lulu. What a wonderful woman. With her warmness, Joe finds a place to feel safe and calm, all while trying to rebuild his life.

Awww, and then there's Madden. I love how Madden is drawn to Joe. Instantly. Against all common sense, Madden just can't stop thinking about Joe and making room for him in his life.

Written in alternating 1st person pov, the men fully come to life, with their emotions front and center. The author develops a heartfelt romance, including some emotional first times.

Stay is a sweet and tender story of falling in love and finding one's place in life. I couldn't put this Ash Knight book down. And if the ending doesn't bring a tear to your eye, then I don't know what will.

CJane Elliott's Pattern for an Angel is a beautiful Christmas story.

Each character is completely loveable, and unique. They are pure delight.

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW - Love, Trust and Secrets by LA Bryce

Publisher: JMS Books

Length: 91,000 words

Blurb

For a man on the run, is finding love a good enough reason to stay? And for a man who doesn’t want to leave, is a secret enough reason to walk away?

Even though a bad situation brings Tyler and Jarod together, they quickly find the good in their relationship. But when Tyler falls in love and finds the feelings returned, he’s forced to question if his and Jarod’s relationship is worth risking his freedom, his life, and their hearts.

Jarod knows Tyler is hiding something, but his fear of scaring Tyler away has him accepting Tyler’s silence. But instead of keeping Tyler close, Jarod’s avoidance ultimately leads to Tyler being taken away, leaving Jarod clueless and unable to help the man he loves.

Love, Trust, and Secrets is a story whose main focus is the love between two men and all the trial and tribulations that come with that love.

Review
My Rating - 4 Stars!

Love, Trust and Secrets is a wonderful story by LA Bryce. Working on the love, struggling with the trust, and heavy on the secrets, the title says it all.

Jared meets Tyler when Tyler's drugged at a bar. Luckily Jared's able to save him. Tyler's a runaway who's hiding from his past, and I fell for him as easily as Jared did.

These two are hot together, with the need being high and the sex being hot. But, not just physical, it's the emotional side of their sex that tugged at my heart strings. Wow, what a moment, as Jared thanks Tyler for the gift of making love to him. Swoon. Just swoon.

Their story involves a troublesome ex, a great mystery, and lots of twists and turns. Well written, the riveting danger kept me worrying and guessing throughout.

Love, Trust and Secrets is a story full of emotion and heart. I definitely enjoyed this amazing book and recommend it to anyone looking for a good angsty  mystery/romance.

About The Author

I've been telling stories for as long as I can remember; my parents tell me it's been going on even further back than that and not always at the appropriate times. Now I choose to use my gift for good.

I enjoy meeting new people, even if they're only in my head.

I believe love comes in all different packages and each should be wrapped in a ribbon and cherished.

I'm currently working on a contemporary romance with a splash of suspense. I get a thrill coming up with unexpected and usually dangerous situations for my characters to be in and then thinking of extraordinary ways for them to escape with outcomes that deviate from the expected.

I live with my family in the Northeast where we enjoy white winters, balmy summers, a spring flurried with fragrant flowers, and a fall filled with piles of leaves to dive in to. Our small town offers the old world charm of knowing your neighbor and its location enables us to take off for dinner in a city known for its beautiful skyline or to an afternoon playing in the sand of some of the best beaches found in the United States.

For me, writing is relaxation for the soul and reading is its nourishment.

Balance by K.A. Sands

Blurb

I should have died the day my world imploded around me. Instead, I was delivered into the hands of Will Grady; the first time I met ‘the one that got away.’ A schoolboy error by my hand had him running from my life before I could destroy his too.

The second time we met, he was wrapped around the body of another man, lips locked. No kind words were forthcoming, and I let him walk away, scared to follow.

Third time was a charm and my turn to repay a kindness. When lust came out to play - I couldn’t resist. But I didn’t have the means to give him what he needed, and when he walked away again, I deemed it was for the best.

The fourth time I met Will Grady, he looked as good then as he ever did, even if I thought he was a figment of my imagination. When he found me again, he was still beyond my grasp. But something changed; I was no longer willing to let the man who had held my attention all these years, walk away another time. Chance meetings were not an option.

I held on with both hands, almost losing the one thing I loved most, because without Will, life didn’t bear thinking about. Could I balance what I had with what I wanted and come out the other end on solid ground? There was nowhere to run. I wanted him, he wanted me. But could he love the half-broken man I’d become?
I was ready to hand over my heart. Would he take it, or finally break it?

Only one way to find out…

My Rating - 5 Stars!

KA Sand's Balance is a phenomenal story packed with bad timing. This amazing story of Grant and Will's romance took me on a long, emotional journey.

Meeting in a hospital Will, a nurse, sees something special in the wounded Grant. It doesn't take long for him to give into acting inappropriately, starting these two men on a long journey towards love.

Will and Grant's love story is many years in the making. Repeated missed opportunities and complications, and always each other's "one that got away," these two doesn't need just a second chance, but rather a lifetime of chances. To say their journey is problematic is an understatement. Always separated by heavy issues, the reader is repeatedly gutted as can be. Always unable to provide what the other needs at the time, their reasons for being apart are realistic and painful.

Grant suffers from PTSD and had a leg amputated, so his burdens are many. If these are a trigger for a reader, note that the story does not focus on these issues, but rather just works around them.

Their story includes abuse and control by an ex that is heart-wrenching. It includes breath play that some may like and some may not. But most relevant, their story includes pain, hurt, broken hearts, and more. These men have been though so much;a happy ending is exactly what they deserve.

KA Sands is an extraordinary writer. The writing is wonderfully done, with intriguing, interesting, and complex characters. But most impressive is the ability to perfect the time jumps. Some authors may struggle with this technique, but KA Sands excels at appropriate and seamless time jumps.

Balance is a beautiful story of repeated wrong timing between two men who are each struggling with finding themselves as well as struggling to find a way to be together. Both riveting and compelling, I cannot recommend this extraordinary book enough!
