The Geeky Jock Paradox (College Boys of New Haven #5) by Hayden Hall

Amazon Link - Available in KU
Goodreads Link

History will repeat itself if I fall for another straight(ish) guy.

Isaac

When my roommate-to-be opens the door wearing nothing but a wet towel and a smile on his face, I only know one thing for sure: my world is about to be turned upside down.

A wrestling jock, a hottie, and as straight as a plank, Hunter is not the guy I should want. But all the shoulds and shouldn’ts fly out the window when it turns out that Hunter is actually a huge geek and not nearly as straight as I thought.

The fact that my high school crush asked me to wait for him until after college only makes my problems worse. But some terrible timing and an unlocked bedroom door end up being less of a problem than the ticking clock.

Can this college-only fling really be all that I have ever wanted?

Hunter

My new roommate is a total cutie, which is the weirdest way to describe a guy when you’re straight.

The more time I spend with Isaac, the less certain I am about everything I thought I knew. Either I am not myself, or I never have been. The weird thing is, I’ve never felt more alive.

It doesn’t matter, though. A no-good, terrible, horrible guy from his past leads him on with the sweetest promises and I’d be a fool to get involved.

Yet I need to have him, even if it’s for a little while.

The Geeky Jock Paradox is the fifth and final book in the College Boys of New Haven series. It's the perfect match for all fans of college MM romance, high steam and low angst, bisexual awakening, and nerd/jock pairings. It features the sweetest the-right-one-was-there-all-along moment and a very happy ending. All College Boys of New Haven books can be read as stand-alones and in any order.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

The Geeky Jock Paradox is the fifth book in the College Boys of New Haven series.

This story is just downright fun and cute.

Hunter and Isaac are both great guys who are easy to invest your emotions in. Hunter's a wrestler who's one of the sweetest jocks you'll meet.

Meanwhile, Isaac is a nerd who's been waiting for his best friend to finish college and finally settle on just him. The boy man just needs to stop waiting and move on.

I love the way Hunter brings Isaac to see himself in a new light. He grows in confidence and self-esteem and it's all beautiful to see.

This is a bisexual, sexual awakening story with a college fling which turns to love. It's all perfectly low angst and enjoyable throughout.

I highly recommend The Geeky Jock Paradox to anyone looking for a nice escape. You won't regret taking the time out of real life to enjoy this Hayden Hall book.

Ethan Greene: Shy geek, newly bi-curious, and...propositioning his gay roommate?

I have a passion for a lot of things: wildlife biology, Godzilla, bowties...

But when it comes to people, I'm more timid.

Which is why I'm stuck with a toxic ex-girlfriend who's holding my lizard hostage.

I need to face her--and save my dignity.

But a little backup won't hurt, right?

My roommate is the perfect wingman.

Rhett is assertive and charismatic. The kind of guy people respect.

And when he meets my toxic ex, he's also the kind of guy to get protective.

I take comfort in his strength, even as I envy it.

But when he kisses me, things get awkward.

Frustrated by the tension between us, I turn to a hookup app for answers.

I don't mean to proposition my roommate. Really.

It's just a weird fluke--a mortifying one.

But Rhett has a proposition of his own.

He wants to help me explore my curiosity.

But he's a bartender who practically flirts for a living, and I'm in way over my head.

It could all end in heartbreak.

Unless I find the courage I've been seeking my whole life.

Can I be bold enough to ask Rhett Hayes to be mine?

Tapped By My Roommate is Book 3 of the Thrust into Love series featuring a flirty bartender, a timid but passionate geek, and a mistaken app hookup that encourages these two roommates to explore friendship and love. It can be read as a standalone.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Tapped by my Roommate is a fun romance by DJ Jamison. The third book in the Thrust into Love series, it's easily read as a standalone.

From the start, my heart hurt for Ethan. His ex girlfriend's a vindictive ass who treated him like crap.

What follows is a super duper fun roommates to lover story, as Ethan falls for his new roommate Rhett.

There's a sexual awakening involved for Ethan, as he's never felt this way about a guy before. Oh, how I love this trope. There's nothing better than getting to watch Ethan fall for a guy. And I appreciated the way Rhett handled everything.

And, ohhh...first time kisses!

This is an opposites attract story, as the two are night and day. Ethan's a geek/nerd to the core, while his new roommate is the jock type. Seriously, Ethan loves boo ties and lizards! Love it!

The writing is great, with two wonderfully developed characters. I enjoy everything they go through, and all the humor throughout.

Tapped by my Roommate is a totally feel good college romance. DJ Jamison delights throughout this sweet story.

ETHAN

“Rhett, please…” I shifted my hips restlessly.

“Yes? Did you want something?” he asked in his husky sex voice designed to drive me wild. I was onto him. He did that on purpose.

It was a Thursday evening, and I’d dressed down in a pair of sweats and a T-shirt, thinking I’d be spending the night alone. He’d traded shifts with someone, though, and here we were on the futon again—with me desperate and him teasing me.

Without the bowtie, Rhett had zeroed in on my throat. He sucked my Adam’s apple, making me jolt. “Say it, Ethan. I promise I want to hear it.”

“Did you know alligators are always erect?” I blurted.

Rhett lifted his head to look at me.

Jesus, why did I say that?

“Really?”

“They keep it tucked inside their body, but yeah. Always ready to go.” I snorted an awkward laugh. “You’re probably wondering why I’m sharing alligator sex trivia right now.”

Rhett held up his thumb and forefinger a millimeter apart. “A little bit.”

“Sorry.”

“Don’t be. I find it strangely hot.”

“Yeah? Some lizards change their sex based on climate,” I said. “Males become female.”

“Okay, I like your equipment, so that’s less hot.” His hand finally cupped my hard dick through my pants. “Stay hard like an alligator for me.”

I groaned. That would be no trouble. It seemed as if I was hard for Rhett all the time, even when he wasn’t there.

“Love your lizard,” he whispered into my ear.

I giggled—straight up giggled like a child—and my whole body flashed hot. It was embarrassing and funny and…a tiny bit sexy that he was willing to take my geeky, nervous babble and roll with it.

“Did you know that some animals engage in oral sex of sorts?” I said. “Cheetahs and lions—”

“Ethan,” he cut in. “Is this your way of asking me to suck your dick?”

“Oh, god.”

His voice went even huskier. “Because I would love to do that for you. I just need to hear that you want it.”

The genius, the mechanic, and a new playbook…

George-

My brother’s friend is hot. If you’re into flannel-wearing lumbersexual former jocks who eat donuts for dinner and still scribble to-do lists on their palms. I’m not. I’m a serious scientist in my final of grad school. Okay, I admit I have few quirks of my own. I also have a broken truck and a boss who thinks I can help him find love. I’m in over my head. Help!

Aiden-

A few quirks? Really? George the weirdest dude I know. He wears capes in public, brings a book everywhere he goes, and loves all thing spooky. He’s also the smartest person on the planet—who somehow thinks I can help him write a How-To-Get-A-Date playbook for his boss. Yeah, that sounds suspicious. I know baseball; I don’t know anything about love. But I can’t say no. I’ve always had a soft spot for George. I just didn’t count on falling for my best friend’s nerdy brother. This is against the rules, isn’t it?

Rules of Play is an MM bisexual awakening story where opposites attract and shenanigans ensue!

_____________________________________________________________________________

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Oh how I love this book! Rules of Play is an absolutely delicious brother's best friend romance with a major nerd/jock aspect. The second book of Lane Hayes' The Script Club, I love it all.

First of all, there's George. He's a geek who wears capes in public, and smart to the core. I adore him. Completely. He simply charms the reader throughout.

And then there's the sexual awakening theme which is wonderfully done. These two have known one another forever, and I simply love how they mesh so well. Their journey from friends to lovers is heartwarming and beautiful.

Their story is full of some homophobia and hard to read comments. It's loaded with emotion and plenty of steamy scenes. Seriously, these two are amazing together.

Written in alternating first person pov, everything about these characters fully come alive. The reader easily understands the men; both their attractions and conflicts. I wouldn't change anything. The pace and storyline are great, and the epilogue is perfect!

Rules of Play is a must read if you love to devour brother's best friends romances as much as I do. Everything about this Lane Hayes read is riveting and charming. I love it and can't wait to read it again.

“The Script Club?”

I grimaced. “Well, yeah. That name came later.”

“You really are a little weirdo, aren’t you?”

The twinkle in Aiden's eyes and his affectionate tone paired with an unlikely term of endearment were exactly what I needed to pull me from my infatuation-induced awkwardness.

I smacked his biceps playfully, then leaned against his side, staring up at the crescent moon in the twilight sky. “I am weird and I am proud.”

Aiden chuckled. “I like that about you. I like your idea too. It’s a good one. I should get in on that and collect a few new experiences before I quit the garage and move on to my next venture.”

“What would you do? I mean, what would you want to try?”

“I don’t know. Maybe something will come to me.” He set the half-eaten container of meatballs down and reached for his beer. “As for your boss…he needs a rule book.”

I shifted to face him. “What kind of rule book?”

“A dating rule book. It would be the equivalent of a sports playbook…a list of strategies and a backup plan if things go awry.”

“Okay, that makes sense. Step one, ask for a date.”

Aiden shook his head. “No. Don’t go in hot. Gotta practice a little finesse. It’s better to get to know someone—ask about their interests, share yours, and see if there’s anything there. Theoretically, that’s how I think it should work.”

“You’re right. They have to build a rapport.” I squinted. “He’s going to need an icebreaker.”

“Yeah, that makes sense. Hit me with your best shot.”

“Uh…what do you mean?” I stammered.

“Pretend you’re into me and you want to get to know me.” Aiden quirked a brow and wiggled his fingers. “Ask me something.”

“What are your interests?”

He made an obnoxious buzzer noise and rolled his eyes. “Wrong. That’s a date question. A lame one, too. Would you really walk up to someone and ask them what they’re into?”

“No, of course not.”

“Redo. You’re trying to get to know me, but you can’t be too forward, and you can’t make assumptions. Got it?” He waited for my nod of agreement and continued. “Pretend we’re standing at the coffee machine at work on a Monday morning. And…action.”

“O-kay…what did you do last weekend?”

Aiden smiled. “Good one. And my answer…not much. I went to that college ball game I told you about last week, watched a lot of basketball, made arrangements to schlep your Bronco here, and played pool with Kenny and a couple of high school buddies. You?”

“I studied and hung out with my friends.”

He stared at me long enough for me to wonder if I had meatball between my teeth.

“If that’s all you have to say, you just killed this conversation,” he deadpanned.

I chuckled. “I did not. It was your turn to ask <em>me</em> something. That’s how it works in real life. I’m not that big of a dork!”

“But what about your boss?”

Good point. “Newton is a big dork. Very big.”

“Right, so this is where rules come into play. You have to pay attention and take hints and clues to heart. Almost everything I mentioned about my weekend had a theme…sports. I told you what I’m interested in without announcing, ‘I like sports.’ If you really wanted to get in my pants, you’d ask me a sports-related question.”

I shot to my feet, whirling my cape like a true badass. “Who said anything about getting in your pants?”

Yes, I was entirely in favor of the idea, but I was pretty sure I hadn’t said it aloud.

“Isn’t that the end game?” Aiden flashed a devilish grin my way.

“No! I mean, maybe for you, but not for Newton. I don’t think he’s hoping for sex.”

“Then what’s the point?”

“Love!”

Aiden widened his eyes comically. “What’s that?”

“I don’t know,” I sighed in defeat, reclaiming my spot on the stoop next to him. “That’s why this is complicated.”

Storm Bound (Cedarwood Beach #4) by Rhys Everly

Amazon Link   - Available in KU

Handsome, nerdy… oh, and he’s also my boss!

When I took the job, I had no idea I’d be working with my dream man.

He’s obsessed with my favorite TV show.
He’s kind and gentle.
And he’s also submissive.

My perfect match, in every way.

But after one too many heartbreaks, I don’t cross the line between colleague and lover.

That is until the perfect storm hits the shores of my small town.

Then, all hell breaks loose.

Is he my happily-ever-after?

Or a heartbreak in the making?

Storm Bound is the fourth book in the Cedarwood Beach small town gay romance series and is completely standalone. It contains two geeks, a D/s dynamic, a hurricane, and Greek Yaya determined to get her grandson married.

My Rating - 3.5 Stars!

Storm Bound is the fourth book in the Cedarwood Beach series by Rhys Everly.

This romance has a meeting that seems set in the stars. With
a storm that pops up at an inconvenient time and an awkward boss/employee situation, there's plenty to enjoy about this story.

I enjoy the way Charlie senses Adam's need to submit. I love the way he immediately steps in to help calm him.

This tale includes a health issue that has caused a lot of insecurities over the years. I enjoy the writing style, but something about the storyline didn't have me loving this story. I was definitely distracted by some small details, and taken out of the story at times.

Storm Bound is a good small town romance. There's lots to enjoy in this Rhys Everly read. I am glad I read it even if I didn't love it all.
