My Rating - 3.5 Stars!

The Guy From Glamour, by Skylar M Cates, is a tough review for me. I was hooked at the start, but the second half left me wanting.

Dean's world is upended when his sister dies, leaving him in charge of his niece, Nicki. Only having known the military world, he's lost. From the start, the writing had me invested in Dean's life. And you can't help but to love Moose, the puppy.

Anthony is there to help Dean pick up the pieces and help. Ends up the two men are very compatible and have some hot chemistry. Yes, there are some hot scenes!

This book is definitely about family. There's a whole lot of fun with Anthony's family. I love them all. And Nicki is someone who you can't help but to love and root for. She's definitely a teen with a chip on her shoulder, but for good reasons. Dean getting to know Nicki, and starting to get that sense of family, is wonderfully done. 

The bullying is spot-on, and left me hurting for Nicki. We've all seen kids bullying others, and it's awful to read this. Middle School sucks with the jealousy and the desire to cut others down.

The Guy From Glamour is definitely a little longer than I needed. A faster pace would have definitely improved this story, thus the 3.5 rating. But it's still a decent romance.

Finding Finley is an entertaining romance by Ruby Moone. The second in the MC Securities series, it holds up to all the charm of the first book, Trusting Jack, but can be read as a standalone.

I instantly found myself riveting by this fake romance story. The tone and writing style had me immediately invested in these men and their lives.

A clothing designer and an ex-army man? Yes please! It's always fun to pair up men from different worlds.

Aaron and Finley are both extremely likeable men, with well developed backgrounds. Aaron became a father as a teen and lost his wife a while back. Finlay meanwhile, is an ex-soldier who was injured on his tours. 

With Aaron always having been straight, it's all a fun journey as he explores sex with Finley. I absolutely love the first time they kiss, and Finlay's reaction. It's just perfect! 

Their tale is one of first times, pretend, and suspense. The sex is emotional and tender, beautifully written. And the scenes with the scars are so damn amazing.

Finding Finley is a wonderful fake boyfriends romance. Ruby Moone excels in this story of re-evaluating one's life and taking a chance on love.

Finn cleared his throat. “Just thinking that if you fancy me, and I fancy you, we could take advantage of the situation we find ourselves in. So to speak.”

Aaron couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Finn was suggesting they had sex? “You put forward a strong argument.”

Finn stared straight forward. “You just need to know that my body is a mess. My left leg, left shoulder, chest…” he waved a hand over the area and pulled a face. “Not pretty. I can leave a T-shirt on and sweats if it’s too much for you.”

The matter of fact way Finn said it robbed Aaron of speech. The car pulled up at the venue, and the moment was lost, but Aaron knew he needed to address it, he just didn’t know how.

He walked into the hotel with Finn by his side. He looked absolutely magnificent. His military bearing was clearly apparent in the way he held himself, he looked every inch the protective boyfriend as he stood aside to let Aaron pass. They walked, shoulder to shoulder in the direction of the event. Aaron glanced sideways at him.

“Hey.” His voice was low.

Finn looked at him. His dark rimmed blue eyes unreadable.

“No T-shirts, no sweats.”

Something shone in those dark eyes. The side of his mouth twitched in the tiniest of smiles as he looked away.

Reckless Abandon, book 2 in Sierra Hill's Reckless series is fantastic!

Catching up with these three people ten years later, we learn that all three are lost. Cam is trying to overcome his awful marriage, and regrets everything he said to Sage all those years ago. Sage is drowning without Cam. His only stable force is that of London. But, despite the fact that the love each other, it just isn't enough. He's willing to settle for life with just London, but London won't allow this to happen.

Cam needs London to help show Sage that he's loved. And luckily Cam returns to help him. 

Even as a reader, I felt the grief and guilt that they never gave into their feelings. And the love! The deep rooted love between Cam, Sage and London jumps off the page. These three people so clearly belong together and will never find happiness if they aren't all together. 

Reckless Abandon is everything I was hoping it would be. Sierra Hill's writing left me breathless and emotionally drained.  And now I am anxiously awaiting the final book in this spectacular series!!!

Malik's Redemption is an enthralling addition to the Team Panther series by Annabella Stone, picking up after the other books. It can be read as a standalone, but it helps tremendously to have read the others. 

Malik and Zeke have an intense hook up after meeting, with Zeke leaving before Malik even turns around. Several months later, they meet up again, as Zeke is a brother to Malik's team member, Steele. Despite the sparks still being strong, Malik knows Steele would kick his ass for hooking up with Zeke. 

Malik is back with his team, but doesn't want to be here, afraid to bring them into his troubles. Even worse would be bringing trouble to Zeke. Unfortunately, it's not so easy for Malik to stay away from Zeke and avoid the terrible consequences.

I adore these men, as individuals, but even more as a couple. I love the way Malik wants to protect Zeke, and the way Zeke wants to be there to help him. Both are so strong in their convictions to help the other. I also adore the different sides of each man, as they are both strong, yet soft. 

As the story progresses, the action starts to really pick up with Malik fighting for his life, and to protect his friends. The Team Panther group will all need to pitch in again. There is a lot of research, plotting and execution of plans to be made, along with solving some questions about Malik.

Malik's Redemption picks up where Tied Up In Steele leaves off. If you like action, suspense, romance and some hot sex, you will love this book, and the other Team Panther books by Annabella Stone.

Optical Illusion, by Emma Jaye, is quite the fun, crazy romance.

Jase returns home after being injured in the army and meets his friend's recently discovered half-brother, Chris. Chris, who is hyperactive, barely sleeps, and needs to constantly move has come to town looking for his father. His half-brother, Matt, doesn't trust him, and appoints Jase to watch over him. This is when the action takes off.

What follows is a crazy kidnapping by human-traffickers, drugs, and so much more, including Jase and Chris starting their relationship. Jase and Chris manage to find each other and seriously manage to change each other's lives for the better.

The writing style is extremely face paced, so much so that I actually had to put it down a couple times and start again when I knew I would have no distractions. This is one story that requires your full attention, or you'll surely miss a lot.

Chris has ADHD, insomnia, and dyslexia. Having a child that also has these issues, I am thrilled with how Emma Jaye handled this character. The writing style completely reflects Chris's hyperactivity, and you can completely feel the way Chris never stops thinking, wiggling and moving.

As we start to learn about Chris's past, you really start to understand Chris, why he runs away from any issues and his complete distrust of anyone. I love the way Jase comes to understand Chris and does his best to help him, as well as protect him from his self-destructive behavior.

To see a glimpse of how precious Jase is, check out what he tells Chris. 

'"I only want you to be the best person you can be.There's more to you than eye candy, and I'd like for you to see that, to see what I see one day."'

And, if you like hot sex scenes, you'll love how Jase becomes "Sarge" while they have sex. It is hot, with Chris loving that "Sarge" takes control. Even better is when "Sarge" takes control out of the bedroom, just knowing that Chris needs to be taken out of his mind.

Please be warned, this story contains a lot of dark issues and dark moments, but is happily infused with some great humor.

Having devoured Optical Illusion, I need to know what happens next! Thus, I am now off to start Black Canvas, book 2 in Paint series, by Emma Jaye.
