Keeping Secrets (Castaways #3) by Alexa Land

Blurb

The truth can cost you everything.

Twenty-six-year-old Beck Medina is convinced of that. He’s been abandoned by so many people over the course of his life, including most of his adopted family. Now he’s created a new family for himself at the resort he manages on Catalina Island. But they don’t know the whole truth about him.

As much as he hates keeping secrets from the people he loves, he knows revealing the truth is a gamble. What if they all walk away from him, like so many others have before?

Then there’s gorgeous, mysterious Lee Speros. The tall, handsome Greek is harboring secrets too, and some of his are deadly. Just as Beck and Lee take the first tentative steps toward becoming a couple, Lee’s dark past finally catches up to him. The fallout threatens to destroy not only the two of them, but everyone they hold dear.

With impossible odds stacked against them, can two stubborn, fiercely independent men learn to accept help not only from each other, but from the people who care about them? And once they reveal all, will the truth set them free? Or will it cost them everything, just like Beck always feared?

This gay romance is book three in Alexa Land’s Castaways Series, but it may be read as a stand-alone. It is intended for a mature audience.

Keeping Secrets is another superb book by Alexa Land. The third in her Castaways series, it has everything I love about her writing. Most importantly however, we finally get Beck's story, which is full of heart and emotion.

Beck's been keeping secrets from his uncle, and it's hurting his ability to move forward with his life. And, damn, his handsome Greek lover, Lee, certainly has some secrets of his own. What starts as a business arrangement gently turns into more for these two. I love how the lines start to blur and both men are falling in love secretly. Yes, more secrets.

As with every one of Alexa Land's couples, Beck and Lee are perfect together.  Their sexual relationship is hot, and emotionally satisfying, as both men get the control and submission they desire. Simply put, they may be from two different worlds but they are amazing together, both in and out of bed.

Beck is so damn loveable. His sacrifices for the ranch gut me. He's an amazing young man. The way Lee treats him from the get go had me falling for him immediately.

My favorite scene has to be when Lee switches things up. Not wanting to give things away, just know this scene is tender, sweet, and extremely emotional.

What I love most about Alexa's books are the continued sense of family. Every book has appearances from past characters, from the Castaways series as well as the First and Forever series. And, damn, the appearance of Dante and Vincent made me so damn giddy. It just doesn't get any better than this, and the way everything ties together.

Keeping Secrets is a beautiful story of two men trying to make their different worlds mesh. This story of forgiveness and understanding is full of love, romance, and heart. It's classic Alexa Land and I love it!

Inked Music by Sean Michael

Blurb

Can a wealthy but bored businessman rescue a tortured musician from his self-imposed purgatory with a scorching kinky romance?

When Rene Conette attends an intimate performance at a local bar, the guitarist moves him enough that he attempts to go backstage but is stymied by the man’s bodyguard. Putting it down as not meant to be, he goes on with his life only to run into the man again, late at night at a bookstore.

Gavin Turner used to be a famous musician until an obsessed fan kidnapped and tortured him. Then it came out that he was into the BDSM lifestyle, and the court of public opinion ravaged him. He lost his Master and his self-confidence. Now he hides behind his ink and his bodyguards, who make sure he doesn’t come into contact with anyone or anything he doesn’t want to. Though it’s been years since he satisfied his needs, he doesn’t think he can trust again.

If Rene can work his way past Gavin’s defenses, they might find they complement each other perfectly.

Inked Music is a great BDSM book by Sean Michael.

I love the beginning, with Gavin being extremely broken. Gavin's story is tragic and heart-breaking, as he's definitely suffered more than anyone should have to suffer.

It's fantastic the way Rene pursues the tortured musician. He's relentless in his pursuit, as he's drawn to Gavin's music.

The BDSM aspect is where the story really takes off, as Gavin needs to be dominated, and the BDSM will help him to heal. It's beautiful seeing Gavin accepting Rene and the way Rene's able to help him. As hot as the sex scenes are, it's the emotion during them that I love. The scenes are definitely all about the meaning and importance of these moments.

Inked Music, being about a BDSM relationship, obviously centers around trust. It's been a long time since Gavin's trusted anyone. It's a beautiful story of healing and recovery. Make sure you read it when you're in the mood for a lot of sex scenes though.

GRL 2018 SPOTLIGHT - Spencer Spears - Hunter's Heart (8 Million Hearts #4)

In my attempt to cover some of the attending authors for this year's GRL,
I am reviewing

Hunter's Heart by Spencer Spears!

BLURB

That kiss definitely didn’t mean anything. It couldn’t have... right?

Micah: Hunter Westing is not who I’m supposed to end up with. The guy might look like a walking wet dream, but he’s got the intelligence of a doorknob and the emotional range of a toaster. Actually, that might be an insult to toasters--at least they’re not usually homophobic. If life were fair, I wouldn’t have to spend more than 20 minutes in Hunter’s company.

But if life were fair, I wouldn’t have lost my best friend and her husband in a freak accident two months ago, leaving me and Hunter as guardians of their infant daughter, Bea.

So here we are--Hunter and me, living together and raising a baby. But it’s not easy--especially not when the past I’ve been trying to outrun comes back to haunt me. The worst part? Hunter won’t stop being nice about it. The guy’s a jerk--why’s he suddenly being all kind and understanding?

And more importantly--why the hell did he kiss me last night?

“If you think I’m ever going to forget you, you’re wrong. I’ll always remember what we had. And I’ll always want you.”

Hunter: Listen--I never asked for this. I never asked for my parents to scare me into silence, making me afraid to be who I am. I never asked for my brother, the one person I was close with, to disappear on me, leaving only his daughter behind. And I definitely never asked for Micah--sweet, inexplicable Micah, who talks a mile a minute and leaves me torn between aggravation and breathlessness--to come along and turn my life upside down.

All I wanted was to make a life for myself that my parents couldn’t control. To carve out something small and quiet, if not exactly happy. But then Micah explodes into my world and God help me, I--I want him. In ways I haven’t let myself think about for years. But as I learn more about Micah’s past, I know he deserves so much more than I can give. I can’t be the person he needs, can I?

So why can’t I remember that, now that I’m holding him?

Hunter’s Heart is Book 4 in the 8 Million Hearts series. While each book can be read on its own, they're even more fun to read together. Hunter’s Heart is a 115,000 word m/m romance full of snark, sweetness, and a healthy serving of steam. Enemies-to-lovers and surprise-baby themes. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed HEA.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Hunter's Heart is a captivating and mesmerizing romance by Spencer Spears.

When we meet Micah and Hunter, they don't like each other but are brought together to raise baby Bea after a tragedy strikes her parents. What follows is a wonderful, heart warming as the two men become friends, helping one another, and then fall in love with one another.

Both men are broken after enduring some tragedies in their pasts. Together they can try to help one another to heal. Their story is low-angst, but contains some difficult to read parts. They face grief, depression, and more as they deal with the tragedy that sent Bea their way. They also have to deal with controlling parents and a dangerous ex-coworker.

Two men who never hoped or dreamed of finding happiness. Both living without support. It's amazing to see how much having someone's support can help one on the path towards healing.

The road to happiness is not easy for these two, but it's a beautiful and heart warming story of them overcoming everything that's thrown their way, both the pain and obstacles.

I love Hunter's Heart! Spencer Spears manages to create multi-layered men with terrific romantic stories. If you haven't check out Spencer's books, do so now!
