Little Harbour (Scandinavian Comfort #1) by Sophia Soames

Blurb

This is a story about life and death, because there was never anyone else for Jens. He had been with Sofie almost all his life, from the day they met at school when they were fifteen, until the day she took her final breath against his chest. She was always everything to him. As he was to her. He never doubted that. Not for a minute.

This is an adventure of hope, where Axel Kleve keeps himself too busy to even stop and think. Work, sleep, eat, repeat. He loves his job as a Midwife at Oslo’s University Hospital, He’s good at lecturing and training, and now he has somehow been pushed into running “Ask Axel”, a midwifery blog on PNN.no, the parenting-site everyone in Norway trusts.

This is a tale of second chances. Jens, he doesn't let himself think of Axel. He doesn't think of Axel at
all. And Axel needs to stop longing for that one crush he’s never been able to leave behind. It’s just plain ridiculous. He should have got over Jens Sommerfeldt years ago.

A M/M novel full of love and family life, featuring a hord of feral children, a stolen pram, a Midwifery blog and an ill advised stint on TV. Oh yes, and a man who had lost hope and another who never gave it up.

Wow!  Little Harbour is an amazingly romantic novel by Sophia Soames.

It's long, but it's well worth the read. The writing style is strange for me though. Maybe that's a common writing style in Norway. No clue. But it's not something I'm not used to reading. But the story is wonderful and the development is superb.

Tens has lost wife and is left angry. Since she died, he's been living in a fog, lost in his pain and struggles.

After twenty years, he's reunited with his ex boyfriend, Axel. Ends up that they're still madly, deeply, and passionately in love. Meeting again feels so right, so perfect, so meant to be. They instantly reconnect and start entwining their lives.

Their relationship is inspiring, all-consuming. It's a whirlwind, total chaos, and out of control. Everything happens so quickly, but it makes Jens smile, laugh and he's happy again.

Axel's relationship with Melana is hysterical, as her banter is non-stop, and she's open and strong. The pram scene is hysterical and Jens mother is sure to keep you entertained.

Little Harbour is an extraordinary second chance romance. It's a stunning story of love and family, as well as friendship. It's a story of moving forward and finding love after a loss and grieving. A house that was previously grieving now can move forward as a family, full of love and strength. I highly recommend this heart-felt romance.

As a huge fan of YA romances, I enjoyed It Started With A Dare by SL Danielson and Julie Lynn Hayes.

The plot is a lot of fun, the flow is good, and it ends leading into book 2. Mark's relationship with his grandfather is heart-breaking. Mark's budding relationship with Blake is well developed and fun.

August 1939. Roger Miller and Jack O’Brien have been close since childhood. By the time they realize there’s more between them than friendship, Jack is leaving their sleepy Iowa town for college. But they console themselves knowing he’ll be home for Christmas. Right?

It is Christmas before they see each other again, but that Christmas comes six years and a world war later. Aged, beaten, and shaken by combat, they’re not the boys they were back then, but their feelings for each other are stronger than ever.

Neither know the words to say everything they’ve carried since that peacetime summer kiss, though. Even as they stand in the same room, there’s a thousand miles between them.

But maybe that’s some distance the little angel in Roger’s rucksack can cross.
This 24,000 word novella is part of the multi-author Christmas Angel series, and can be read as a standalone.

Christmas Homecoming is LA Witt's contribution to the Christmas Angel series, and it's a tear-jerker.

Set during the period of World War II, Jack and Roger end up separated for 6 years. Neither knows what has happened to the other, and neither can talk to anyone about their feelings.

Not only is the story of Jack and Roger sad, but we're also saddened by all the real life couples who experienced this type of helplessness and loss. Just thinking about it will require some tissues nearby.

I love their journey. I love the angel's help. And I love the ending. There are some sweet, tender and happy moments in addition to the sad ones. It is definitely worth a read, as LA Witt perfectly captures the feel of this time period.

The Christmas Angel Series

In 1750, a master woodcarver poured all his unrequited love, passion, and longing into his masterpiece—a gorgeous Christmas angel for his beloved’s tree. When the man he loved tossed the angel away without a second thought, a miracle happened. The angel was found by another who brought the woodcarver True Love.

Since then, the angel has been passed down, sold, lost and found, but its magic remains. Read the romances inspired by (and perhaps nudged along by) the Christmas angel through the years. Whether it’s 1700s England (Eli Easton's Christmas Angel), the 1880’s New York (Kim Fielding’s Summerfield’s Angel), the turn-of-the-century (Jordan L. Hawk’s Magician’s Angel), World War II (L.A. Witt’s Christmas Homecoming), Vietnam-era (N.R. Walker’s Soldier’s Wish), the 1990’s (Anyta Sunday’s Shrewd Angel), or 2018 (RJ Scott’s Christmas Prince), the Christmas angel has a way of landing on the trees of lonely men who need its blessing for a very Merry Christmas and forever HEA.

L.A. Witt is an abnormal M/M romance writer who has finally been released from the purgatorial corn maze of Omaha, Nebraska, and now spends her time on the southwestern coast of Spain. In between wondering how she didn’t lose her mind in Omaha, she explores the country with her husband, several clairvoyant hamsters, and an ever-growing herd of rabid plot bunnies. She also has substantially more time on her hands these days, as she has recruited a small army of mercenaries to search South America for her nemesis, romance author Lauren Gallagher, but don’t tell Lauren. And definitely don’t tell Lori A. Witt or Ann Gallagher. Neither of those twits can keep their mouths shut…

The Magician's Angel, a sweet historical romance, is Jordan Hawk's contribution to The Christmas Angel series by various authors.

This story takes place back in the vaudeville days, and the setting is charming, as it revolves around a struggling theater.

You'll find murder, the mystery as they search for the killer, and a little bit of romance. It's definitely fast paced and focused on the mystery rather than the romance. And rest assure, the angel with be around to help.

The sexy Santa and the virgin dad....

Single dad Mario, twenty-one, has finally won shared custody of his five-year-old son, Sammy. They’re spending Christmas at a Tenerife resort to celebrate. The children’s swimming instructor, Josie, is sexy and fun, and Mario can’t stop dreaming about him. But Mario has no clue how to talk to a hot guy.

With his suntan, Speedos, and rippling abs, Josie seems to be the typical jock. He’s super sweet too, and everyone loves him. But he only has eyes for the fire-eyed little dad who looks like his son’s older brother and won’t stop policing the swimming class.

Sammy would like to be a king in the hotel’s nativity play. But he’s too afraid to go anywhere without his dad.
Mario would like a holiday romance with Josie, or even a little more, but between building his tech company and trying to do his part as Sammy’s father he has missed out on a lot and is too inexperienced to know where to begin.

Luckily Santa might have just the thing for everyone on his list...

Santa on the Beach is a fun and sexy Christmas romance by Crystal Greene.

Mario and his young son are at the beach. The very place where Jose is a swimming instructor.

Mario's an amazing guy. He's only twenty-one, and is raising his five year old son. My heart hurts for him, as everyone judges him, and he's in the midst of losing custody. He definitely won my heart quickly.

Jose is a wonderful guy, as he's perfect for Mario, but is also so good with his son.

Their story contains some hot and steamy moments.

Overall, it's a sweet, feel-good Christmas romance.

One kiss under the mistletoe destroyed a friendship. Will another Christmas kiss remake it into something better?

Eli hasn't been home since he left at eighteen with a heart aching from his best friend's rejection and his father's intolerance. But when his father reaches out, Eli figures it's time to make peace with his family. He doesn't expect to come face-to-face with Turner too -- or to learn that the straight friend he'd foolishly loved is actually bisexual -- but once the shock wears off, he knows exactly what he wants for Christmas.

Turner's life isn't everything he'd once planned, but he's happy to be the shoulder his loved ones lean on. They keep him busy, which is just as well since none of his dates have really clicked. He hasn't been able to connect with anyone the way he did with his former best friend. When Eli shows up for the holidays after years away, Turner doesn't know what hit him. But he knows one thing: This time, he wants to give Eli a reason to stay.

All I Want Is You is a friends to lovers, second-chance romance with an HEA.

My Rating - 4 Stars!

All I Want Is You, by DJ Jamison, is a heart-warming Christmas romance.

Eli's returning home with his tail between his legs after losing his job. He's shocked to discover his ex best friend is working with his dad. Eli and Turner have a sorted past since a kiss caused them to part eight years ago.

Eli's back and wants to make amends, with both Turner and his own dad. Everyone is well developed and very likable. There's anguish, forgiveness, and a second chance. There's a chance for romance and a chance for father and son to forgive and rekindled their relationship.

It's an emotionally charged and heartfelt romance. I was hooked immediately and couldn't stop routing for these men to get together. It's definitely something I'd recommend to anyone looking for a sweet holiday story.

Excerpt

Turner kissed him, and Eli’s heart exploded into a frantic pace. Turner’s lips were on his, finally. And all his anger, all his disappointment washed away on a wave of endorphins.

This felt right. It was as if he’d been holding his breath for eight years, and he could finally exhale.

But it was over too soon. Eli hadn’t gotten a taste of Turner’s tongue, the kiss quick and chaste. He hadn’t gotten to run his fingers through his hair. Hadn’t put his hands on him at all.

Nothing but their lips had touched, and it was the single, best kiss of his life.

“I’d like us to be friends again, real friends,” Turner said. “Even after you leave again for California.”

Oh, right. Eli would be leaving. Turner would be staying. Nothing had changed.

His racing heart slowed. Grew heavy. Thudded hollowly.

“Friends,” he repeated.

“I know you’re not staying long,” Turner added. “So, it’s just a kiss. Between friends.”

“A friendly kiss,” Eli said.

Turner chuckled. “Yeah.”

“Okay,” Eli said.

And yet he sensed something more between the lines of Turner’s spoken words. Honesty, yes, but also yearning. Could it be possible that Turner wanted him as much as he’d always wanted Turner?

There was only one way to find out.

Eli wrapped a hand around the back of Turner’s neck, tugged him close, and kissed him hard. If he was only getting one kiss, he was going to make it count. He was going to kiss the daylights out of Turner and decide for himself how much Turner Williams wanted Elijah Harp.

She writes a variety of queer characters, from gay to bisexual to asexual, with a focus on telling love stories that are more about common ground than lust at first sight. DJ grew up in the Midwest in a working-class family, and those influences can be found in her writing through characters coping with real-life problems: money troubles, workplace drama, family conflicts and, of course, falling in love. DJ spent more than a decade in the newspaper industry before chasing her first dream to write fiction. She spent a lifetime reading before that, and continues to avidly devour her fellow authors' books each night. She lives in Kansas with her husband, two sons, two fish and, regrettably, one snake.
