Grayson Darling is suddenly the new “it” guy. An American actor turned heartthrob, Gray rose to superstar status through his portrayal of a handsome and brave American military captain in an epic WWII love story now in its fourth season on a popular streaming service.

But Gray needs a break from stardom, from the flashing lights of celebrity and his legions of female fans that mob him at every turn. He needs peace and quiet, and a real holiday during the show’s hiatus and summer break.

Instead of returning to his home in Hollywood, Gray books a month stay at a small B&B in rural Ireland, where he hopes to write his first screenplay and free himself from outside distractions. And time away to decide who and what he wants to be to the world.

What he didn’t expect to find was an attraction to the grumpy innkeeper, Niall O’Reardon. A retired football player now home managing the family’s inn with his sister, Niall is completely unfamiliar with his handsome new guest, and only knows how Grayson makes his insides feel strange and fizzy whenever they interact.

Niall only wants to live in peace and solitude, not interested in the fame or notoriety that his past football career gave him. But when word travels that Grayson Darling is staying in Boyle, the wolves descend, bringing in hordes of rag photogs, ruining his peaceful existence.

At which point, Niall must choose between protecting Gray’s reputation or protecting his own heart.

My Rating - 3.5 Stars!

C*ck Blocked is a Hollywood meets small town romance by KC Cassidy.

When Grayson shows up in the small Irish town, adorable Niall has no idea who he is. It's cute and left me falling for the sheltered farmer. I definitely enjoy the personal obstacles each man is dealing with.

I'm always a fan of closeted actors and athletes, so this one definitely had me interested. I love the whole needing a break from Hollywood theme and totally appreciate his predicament.

This is a complete opposites attract tale, as the two are different as can be. It's fun as they fight their attraction to one another for a long time, creating a slow burn aspect. They also have a grumpy/sunshine thing going on which is always enjoyable.

And, oh man, I adore Niall's family!

The journey for these two isn't easy, and both make mistakes for sure. In the end, they are together, but the relationship stuff happens quickly, without as much build up as I'd prefer. I was let feeling something was missing.

I love the author's writing style, but I definitely struggle with some of the Irish slang. That just made it harder for me to connect to and follow. This isn't a problem that's unique to this book, I tend to struggle with this anytime an author uses native slang I'm not accustomed to.

I also struggle with the title, as it doesn't seem to fit for me. It's definitely confusing in the end.

C*ck Blocked is a decent read. I am an avid fan of this author, who also writes as Sierra Hill. But for this one, something fell a little flat for me. It's okay, but I didn't connect with it fully and fall madly in love with it as I was expecting.

“How the hell do you stand the smell? It’s vile.”

I scoff because I’ve lived with it all my life and is simply part of farm life to me. When I’ve had to visit Dublin or London, I wondered the exact same thing about the city. The smoke, noise and car exhaust were stifling, and I could barely breathe.

“Sorry to exploit your delicate sensibilities, man. Maybe I can grab you the special scented air freshener I keep just for my city guests.” I reply drolly.

A burst of self-deprecating laughter escapes his mouth, and the sound is fucking glorious. Like church bells ringing on Easter Sunday morning. Except instead of filling my soul, it goes straight to my groin.

He raises a hand and claps me on the back, the warmth seeping through my over clothes. I whip my head to stare at him and he offers me a wink.

A sexy, goddamn wink.

Jaysus, what is this man doing to me?

“I like this about you, Niall. You don’t see the need to filter anything. You’re not only funny but good looking, too. A dangerous combination.”

My mouth dries up like a well in a drought and I swallow down sand particles lodging in my throat. Did he just reveal something about himself? Or am I projecting with wishful thinking?

The last thing I need to do is make a mistake with a guest who may or may not be homosexual like me.

It’s not easy being someone you’re not.

Grayson Darling is suddenly the new Hollywood “it” guy and needs a break from stardom. As an American actor turned heartthrob, Gray rose to superstar status as a romantic lead on a popular streaming service – but it’s getting harder to hide who he really is.

To his legions of female fans, he’s a handsome, single and straight man.

But it’s all a made-for-TV lie.

Needing a holiday during the show’s summer hiatus, Gray books a stay at a rural Ireland B&B, where he hopes the scenery and solitude will spark creativity to finish his first screenplay. And allow him time to figure out who and what he wants to be to the world.

Gruff and steady Niall O’Reardon wonders if this is all life has to offer him now that he’s retired from the Gaelic football league and has taken over his family farm in Boyle, Ireland, where hard work is simply a fact of life. A place where dreams get shoveled up along with the sheep muck. He has no illusions that he’ll find the perfect love or start a family someday.

Until his new handsome American B&B guest shows up, messing with his ideas on what love is supposed to be, giving him hope that he can have it all and that perfect isn’t just a fantasy.

But choices must be made, and the truth has consequences. And hearts and reputations are on the line and need to be protected.

RELEASE BLITZ, EXCERPT & REVIEW - MF - Cakewalk (Busy Bean #3) by Claire Hastings

Cover Design: Elle Maxwell Designs

Love isn’t always a cakewalk ...

Gigi Hawthorne is starting from scratch. She just didn’t realize until her crappy car broke down that she was going to be doing it in a small town in Vermont. With an eye for design and some serious decorating skills, she’s managed to land a job making delectable treats for the patrons of the Busy Bean. Now she’s up to her elbows in sugar and flour, but her thoughts are never far from her gorgeous, brooding landlord.

Holden St. James swears he isn’t a recluse. He goes to the local coffee shop three times a week, doesn’t he? Yeah, maybe he never actually talks to anyone, but with a backstory of loss, pain, and regret like his, he’s pretty sure he wouldn’t be very good company anyway. Yet something about his new tenant makes him wonder if maybe it’s time to let someone open the oven door and release a little heat into his closed-off world.

But both are hiding secrets as dark as an espresso mocha cupcake and they’re not sure if they can trust each other. Will the truth break their delicate relationship into sad, sweet crumbs--or will it turn out to be the key ingredient in the recipe for a new life?

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Cakewalk is Claire Hasting's contribution to the multi-author Bean Busy series. The third book, it's easily read as a standalone.

I love this one from the start.

Gigi and Holden have a strong attraction when they meet. But both are struggling in their lives and aren't ready for a new relationship.

Both have intriguing backgrounds. Holden's a former pro athlete who's still grieving his wife and child. Gigi meanwhile is on the run from her husband.

Holden's a former soccer/football player, who's experiences with losing his family, is heartbreaking. Any reader would be hard-pressed to not fall for Holden. As for Gigi, the abuse she suffered is horrible, but one has to admire her ability to run.

Of course, there's Gigi's secret and potential danger looming overhead throughout. As for the way things resolve, well, I certainly didn't see that coming. Kudos for the twists and turns.

The writing is great. The atmosphere and characters are all well developed. And I can't help but to continue to love the slew of small town characters. Audrey and Zara, owners of the Busy Bean, are simply fabulous.

Cakewalk
is a great addition to this small town series. Claire Hastings does a wonderful job of revisiting the Busy Bean and bringing some new characters to life.

Sneaking another glance at him, she smiled to herself noticing a scone on his plate. He hadn’t taken a bite yet, and her chest filled with nerves as she thought about him trying it for the first time. She wanted everyone to like the goodies she was making for the cafΓ©, but she really, really wanted Holden to like them. Maybe even like them so much that he’d ask her to make some just for him, at home. An image of the two of them in the kitchen together, covered in ingredients as he pressed her up against the blue cabinets, flitted across her mind, making the nerves in her chest morph into something else entirely. Was that…lust?

Stop it, Gigi…just because the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach doesn’t mean you need to make an attempt. Especially with that man.

The sound of coughing pulled her attention back to the counter, where Officer Nelligan was still standing. When he finally swallowed, he took a long swig of his coffee, blinking harshly, like he was trying to forget a taste.

“Miss Gigi, may I ask what you put in these?”

“Ummmm, usual scone ingredients?” she floundered. “Flour, salt, cream, baking powder, orange zest, cranberries…”

“I’m not much of a baker, but I think you might have mixed up your baking powder and your baking soda. A girl did that in my junior high home ec class, and it tasted much like this—kinda metallic,” Officer Nelligan said.

“What?” Gigi said. All feelings of butterflies and lust were long gone now, replaced by sheer panic. She looked at Officer Nelligan in horror, taking in the scone he’d just bitten into. The apologetic look in his eye told her everything she needed to know—she'd screwed up. Big time.

“Georgia. I don’t know what possesses you to even try these things. It’s a well-established fact that you just are not capable of cooking. Please stop trying—you’re just making yourself look ridiculous,” Bradley’s voice said. She shook her head, trying to clear his words from her mind, as she turned and ran into the kitchen.

Sure enough, the canisters labeled “baking powder” and “baking soda” were right next to each other. However, it was the baking soda whose lid was off and sitting in front of it. That was the one she’d used when measuring out her ingredients.

“Sugar Honey Iced Tea!” she exclaimed, stomping her foot in frustration. She could feel Roderick looking at her, but she didn’t have the heart to turn around and see the expression on his face.

“Uh oh,” she heard Roderick’s voice say over her shoulder. “That’s a bad day.”

Was she ever not going to screw this up? When would she learn that she couldn't do this? No, what she couldn’t do was let Bradley’s words get to her.

At least it was just Officer Nelligan. He was used to seeing her at her worst at this point. He and Holden.

Holden.

Holden had also ordered a scone. But he hadn’t eaten it yet. Right?

Racing back up front, she skidded to a stop in front of his table to find him mid-bite into the inedible treat.

“Nooo!” she cried. “Don’t eat that—it’s…”

“A bit salty…” he responded, choking it down.

Gigi could feel the tears starting to prick at her eyes, but she wasn’t going to let anyone here see her cry. It was no big deal. So she got the canisters mixed up. Happens to everyone at some point, right?

“I’ll get you a muffin,” she told him, turning back to the counter. Looking between Holden and Officer Nelligan, she sighed. “At least it was just you two, right?”

“And Mr. Hughes,” Kirk said, not looking up from the espresso machine.

“Who?”

“That older guy who bought six. Owns Hughes Hardware store up the street.”

“Oh, for heaven’s sake!” she exclaimed before turning and running out the front door. She had to get to him before he let his employees have any of them.

Deserting the cafΓ© like this was probably not her best move, but she figured after this disaster, she was going to be lucky to even have a job.

How to Catch a Rival (Chester Falls #2) by Ana Ashley

Amazon Link   - Available in KU

When you’re competing, the last thing you should do is fall in love...especially with your rival.

Wren turned up out of nowhere and now he’s my boss...kind of. He’s also a straight, closed-off, emotionless icicle. Who cares if he’s also drop dead gorgeous, with eyes you could get lost in?

Tom is beautiful, colorful, strong, creative, and my eyes can’t stop following him everywhere he goes. He also works for my parents, which means he’s off limits. That, and I haven’t told them that I’m bi yet.

A baking competition with high stakes
Two men who both need that prize money

When the heat moves from the kitchen to the bedroom, will Tom and Wren put their rivalry aside? Or is what they stand to lose more important than their growing feelings?

Welcome to Chester Falls, where you can expect to meet sweet men, sexy situations, interfering friends, lots of feels, and a happy ever after.

Book two in the Chester Falls series. How To Catch a Rival is a standalone sweet and steamy MM romance novel with no cliffhanger, and a guaranteed HEA.

My Rating - 4 Stars!

How to Catch a Rival is a cute and sweet small town romance. The second book in the Chester Falls series, it's easily read as a standalone.

Wren's a sympathetic character. A former professional athlete who's closeted. He returns home when his father is sick but no one there knows he's gay or retired from sports. Awww, secrets.
bisexual

Everything about this story is just cute.

They go off to a rough start but soon the walls come down between them. They end up competing against one another in the town's Pride baking contest.

The initial meeting between the men is simply fabulous. Tom just can't resist embarrassing himself with his attraction to Wren. It's funny, charming, and just sets the tone for these men.

Tom wants to be in fashion, but is instead working to help his parents. I definitely enjoy this element.

The rivalry is tough for the reader, as there's no clear cut person to root for in the competition. Both men need to win. It's a no win situation.

The writing is great, with a sooth flow, intriguing characters, and an entertaining storyline. Written in alternating first person pov, I easily enjoy getting to know both men.

How to Catch a Rival is a great mix of small town fun and a slow burn romance. Be sure to check out this Ana Ashley book the next time you're in the mood for rivals falling in love. Now onto the next book in the series.
