MF - Exquisitely Broken (A Sin City Tale #1) by M. Jay Granberry

Blurb

What happens in Vegas…

Sinclair James wasn’t from my world.
She didn’t have my pedigree or family money.
She was everything I never wanted,
Everything I now realize I needed.
I loved her for six years, her soul, her body, her music.

Until I threw it all away.

One decision changed everything.
One decision destroyed what we had.

She slipped from my life as quietly as she had stolen my heart
But now she’s back.

Sinclair is mine, she just doesn’t know it yet.
This time I’m not letting her go.

So, what happens in Vegas…?

A second chance to repair what was broken.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Exquisitely Broken is a fantastic second chance romance. A debut novel by M Jay Granberry, I am extremely impressed.

Sin and Jacob. Oh my! They get a second chance when Sin's band signs a deal with Jacob's casino in Las Vegas. When Sin runs into him, she is angry to say the least.

The author uses some great flashbacks to help the reader understand the past, both how they met and how they broke up. As well, the reason behind the extreme emotions are well established.

These are two people with extremely different upbringings; one a product of his rich family privilege, the other grew up poor and in foster care. Their story is one of resentment, guilt, regret, and anger; so much anger. They have to deal with doubts, fears, and many obstacles.

I love the writing style, which kept me engaged and invested throughout. The storyline is well developed, and the pace is nice and fast. It's an emotional read, with a whole lot of angst. As well, the atmosphere of Vegas is well described. I could totally picture everything in my mind.

The one thing that got to me the most was Jake. I completely understand why Sin left him. I would have too. It was hard for me to understand why she'd forgive him and give him a second chance. At some point I stopped caring and found myself rooting for them, as they are clearly still in love with each other. And, eventually, he fights so hard that I found myself forgiving him. Why? Because he owned what he did.

"
I own what I did. I won’t insult either one of us by pretending my actions were anything other than foul."

Exquisitely Broken is a story of broken hearts, and the long and tough road to reconciliation. I love this complex book. And now onto book two. I can't wait to read Adam's story in Exquisitely Hidden!

My Rating - 5 Stars!

Tricia Owens' Damaged is an amazing and complex story.

Jack's a detective who's suffering since his partner died. He's loaded down by his guilt. At a casino he meets Brant, the completely damaged casino manager. Brant's been abused and survived, but is still suffering from the events in his past. He's mysterious and sullen, and Jack is drawn to him.

Their story explores hurt, pain, guilt, and the need to control. The men are able to use one another to explore the world of pain and pleasure than BDSM brings. There's an absolute need and want for punishment by Jack and Brant is able to help. These scenes are impressive, emotional and exquisite.

One great quote is "There is no shame in trying to find happiness." I love this, as so many people let their guilt hinder their ability to allow happiness into their lives.

But even more impressive is "Everything that's broken can be put back together. The cracks don't matter as long as you're whole again. The important thing is to keep trying."

The casino itself is a major character in the story. It's mysterious, hidden in the woods, and has a ominous feeling. I don't want to spoil anything, but the casino has a large role in the tale with the whole story being told in a somber and cautious tone.

Damaged is a dark and gritty book, full of BDSM and violence. It's about trying to put the past behind you. It's impressive and downright riveting. If you're in the mood for dark, don't miss this one.

Excerpt

Amusement briefly lit Brant's gray gaze. "You're an interesting man, Jack. Under other circumstances I'd enjoy feeling you out."

"I thought you hate cops. Sounds to me like you're flirting with one."

He was immediately embarrassed for having said it. Taylor Brant was one of the most attractive men he'd ever seen, much less had dinner with—but Jack recognized the nugget of fear rolling around in his own gut. He was in foreign territory, literally and figuratively. All his experience as a detective, all his street smarts, meant next to nothing when it came to his occasional and unwanted attraction to specific men. It was like a flare-up of a rash—unpredictable, unwelcome, and woefully incurable.

"I'd be reckless, wouldn't I," Brant said, "to flirt with a detective?" Brant's gaze grew intent. "I'm not reckless."

“Sounds to me like you’re a masochist.”

“Would it take one to know one?”

The restaurant was emptying out. Jack wished it were busier. Louder. He wished that the waiter was intrusive. He could feel himself sweating and felt ridiculous; he was only sitting there eating dinner.

Brant didn't appear to be all that relaxed, either. The casino manager was tense. Nervous. Jack was too experienced in studying people to miss the signs. Was Brant regretting his boldness? Maybe they were both stumbling around in the dark in their own ways. It was strange to look at Taylor Brant and consider him anything other than one hundred percent sure of himself.

Or was it? He was well groomed and sophisticated, yet the broken nose hinted at his past experience with abuse. The book, too, suggested deep waters and a hint of vulnerability.

But Jack wasn't completely sold on Brant being a man you could easily take advantage of. Maybe back then, back when Brant had dated those cops, he had been a man like that. But not any longer. The man sitting across from Jack had been honed by pain, anger, and disappointment. Brant had gone through hell and come out the other side as a more powerful man. It was there in those steely eyes, a hint of the danger he presented: he needed to control every situation he entered because he would never allow himself to be at anyone's mercy again. He was using his fear to become something—someone—unbreakable.

Jack's cock pulsed at the prospect of being under Brant's control, even for an hour. It wasn't something he'd ever experienced, and the fantasy of it was probably better than the reality. Hell, he didn't know how he'd react to someone attempting to take the upper hand with him. There was a good chance he'd throw a punch.

BLURB

Successful alpha in need of an omega unafraid to take control. Willing to be generou$$$. Looking forward to hearing from you.Troy Sullivan is the current owner of The Palisade, one of the most popular casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. With more money in the bank than he could spend in a lifetime, and surrounded by yes-men more interested in staying in his good graces than helping him improve his business, Troy craves what he can’t have—someone to tell him “no.” When he discovers Rent-a-Dom, he’s convinced he’s found his solution: a master decades his junior who specializes in financial domination, and who won’t so much as let Troy see his face…

Robin Mills is a young entrepreneur with the weight of the world on his shoulders. After signing over his half of his start-up, Rent-a-Dom, to his brother Monty, he’s made a business out of counting cards in order to afford their mother’s expensive medical treatments. But when Monty contacts Robin about a particular client, Robin finds himself drawn back into the world of BDSM, this time as Master to the man who makes his blood boil—Troy Sullivan.

For the last year and a half, Robin has dominated Troy from across the country, denying him every chance he gets. But when a betrayal at the executive level leaves Troy blindsided and in need of a strong hand, Robin is faced with a tantalizing choice: let his submissive crash and burn, or step in and stake a claim on the world he thought he’d left behind.

This MM book contains mpreg, D/s elements, and is intended for 18+ readers. Warning: Don't read unless you like fun books with snarky, headstrong omega Doms; naughty, lacy things in all the right places; alphas who know exactly what they want and aren’t afraid to admit it; and scenes so hot, they won’t only melt your kindle, they’ll burn down your house. But then again, this is a Susi Hawke and Piper Scott collaboration—you already knew to expect that, didn’t you?

REVIEW
My Rating - 5 Stars!

Susi Hawke and Piper Scott's second Rent A Dom book is Master Wanted. Admittedly, it took me a little while to get sucked into this book, but I did.

Despite letting his Dom control him for a while, Troy has never met him in person or seen a photo. When he finally meets him, he is shocked to find out that his Dom is Robin, the last person he would have ever expected.

Robin has shown up to help Troy out of his struggling financial situation. What starts as a strictly Dom/sub relationship, soon morphs into being friends. In a great storyline, Troy finds out why Robin tried to cheat him years ago, and feels bad about his reaction at the time.

A wonderful line during this scene is "Everyone has their story." I love this! Robin is like the rest of us, as what you see on the outside does not explain what's on the inside.

Soon, as the lines start to blur, Troy finds himself wishing that Robin's path in life included being with Troy. Robin is left with the decision to proceed with his plan, or to ditch the plan and let himself love Troy.

The relationship between Troy and Robin is spectacular. Add in the fact that the nerdy one is the dom? So good!!!! And then add in their complicated backstory and it's out of this world good.

So, yes, as you would expect, this collab by Susi Hawke and Piper Scott is perfect! Don't miss out on reading Master Wanted.
