Cooper Rutledge: Frat boy, general screwup, and…Daddy’s boy?

Cooper Rutledge: frat boy, general screwup, and...Daddy's boy?

On the surface, I don't take things too seriously.

Not my poor grades, or my hookups, or my inability to find my purpose.

But that was before.

Before the daddy of my wet dreams swiped right on my pic.

Before he turned out to be my father's best friend.

Before I convinced him to indulge in one night of pleasure with no strings.

I didn't count on how magical it would be.

I didn't know that when he spanked me and offered words of praise, my soul would drink it up.

I didn't realize how right Daddy kink would feel.

One night could never be enough.

Because I do care. Too much.

And when life sends me into an emotional tailspin, Trace steps up to support me---proving he cares too.

Everything has gotten very real, very fast.

But are we ready for the fallout?

I can't let anyone, not even my father, come between me and Trace.

I've finally found my Daddy, and I'll fight to keep him.

Swiped By My Dad's Best Friend is a contemporary age-gap M/M romance that includes light daddy kink and no age play.

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

DJ Jamison's Swiped by my Dad's Best Friend is a great age gap romance.

I struggled with it a little at the beginning, as Cooper is into recreational pot, and often high. That's always a turn off for me, but I'm thrilled I kept reading. And I absolutely love the way his drug use is explored later on.

Cooper and Trace arrange for a meet up, but soon discover they know each other. But the attraction is there, and eventually the two give in to their passion. And damn, the two are hot together.

The age gap and forbidden aspect to their relationship is entertaining throughout.

The struggles Cooper's dealing with at school, and with his father, make for a great element in this book. Cooper's struggles are realistic and add a  lot of depth to his character. But best of all is the way Trace helps him. I love everything about the way Trace grounds him, supports him, and encourages him.

Best of all though, is the way both men need one another and help one another. It's fabulous that Trace also needs Cooper. They are a great balance for one another.

Swiped by my Dad's Best Friend is another compelling read by DJ Jamison. This couple works so well together, with each man bringing so much to the relationship. I love it.

This excerpt is from Cooper’s perspective. He’s just headed out to meet an app hookup, and neither of them have any idea what they’re about to walk into.

I headed to the B&B where my hookup was staying. Luckily, it was within walking distance. I took a shortcut across campus, jogging over the lawn alongside one of the sorority houses, cutting behind the campus bookstore, and jumping a low, stone fence that circled the grounds. That took me into Hayworth House’s backyard. As a former frat house, the B&B was barely outside campus proper—and only two minutes from where I lived on frat row.

Circling the house, I hesitated at the front door only a few seconds before walking in like I owned the place. If it was a B&B, they must have guests coming and going, but it still felt strange stepping into a house that wasn’t mine. I spotted the staircase right away, thankful I wouldn’t have to wander around calling out for a guy I only knew by Daddy or his handle, SeasonedBeefcake. The name was a little cringey, but I couldn’t deny this guy had some definite beefcake cred despite his age.

A man emerged from the living room, and I froze. I knew instantly he wasn’t my hookup; his body type was all wrong, unless my Beefcake had done some serious photoshopping on his profile pics.

“Can I help you?”

I smiled sheepishly. “I know where I’m going.” I waved toward the second floor. “Here to see a…friend.”

One eyebrow arched as he looked me over. I was wearing sweats and a worn T. I’d thought about dressing up, but why bother if I was just gonna take the clothes off?

“Go on then,” he said.

I wasted no time, jogging my way to the top and heading straight for the second door. It was closed. My hookup had told me to let myself in, so once again, I skipped knocking and strolled in bold as brass.

The room appeared to be empty. Huh.

I checked my phone. Yep. I was in the right place. The man must be around somewhere. Maybe in the bathroom or down in the kitchen grabbing a drink. After a cursory look around the nicely appointed room, I decided to go ahead and set the mood for when he returned. I hadn’t had a hookup quite like him in a long while. I wasn’t too picky about my matches; if someone wanted to hook up, I was down for some fun. It’s not as if I were trying to make a love connection. I’d fucked around with slender guys, curvy women, and everything in between.

But this guy…

Well, I had to admit that the thought of big, strong hands manhandling me was tripping my trigger big time.

I tugged my shirt over my head, deciding I’d rather not make a first impression with the ratty material. I could let my skin do the talking. I pushed my sweats down—just a little—and stilled at the sound of the door opening behind me.

A moment later, a heavy, damp body pressed up against my back. “You getting started without me?” he murmured.

“Thought I might have to,” I said. “I was all alone with this hard dick.”

He chuckled. “Well, we can’t have that.”

I thought he’d grab my cock immediately, but he stepped back. I turned my head, just enough to confirm he was every inch the daddy type I’d imagined: tall, broad, solid—and wrapped in nothing but a towel. Yum.

His large hands dwarfed my shoulders, and I shivered as he slowly mapped the shape of me. His touch was light as he traced down my spine with one hand and glided his other around to my abs, caressing so lightly just beneath my navel that it almost tickled—and instantly made my cock throb with jealousy.

I made a needy sound, surprising myself. I enjoyed sex, sure. I had plenty of opportunity with a full campus of horny students. But I wasn’t usually this affected. My nerves fired up under his touch, goosebumps rushing across my skin.

“Patience,” he said. “We’ll get there. You young guys are all rush, rush, rush. Let me enjoy this amazing body of yours…”

Instinctively, I pressed my ass back, feeling the prod of his dick. He grunted and smacked the top of my exposed right cheek. “None of that.”

I jerked a little at the smack, but it barely stung. Something about the way he was taking control did it for me, my body thrumming as I moaned playfully. “Yes, Daddy.”

“Good boy,” he said, sounding amused, but more than willing to indulge my little fantasy. I hadn’t ever experimented with daddy kink beyond watching a few porn videos with the theme, but something about this guy screamed Daddy. It felt right to let him take control, right to try to please him.

Finally, something I can do right.

Pushing my sweats down a little farther, he cupped my ass, squeezing it and making a pleased, rumbling sound. I really wasn’t as fit as some guys. Too much snacking, too little time in the gym. But I was young, and I had good genes. I was sending up thanks that my body didn’t disappoint when he paused.

“This scar…” He traced a jagged line that extended from my ribs to my lower back. “I knew someone with a scar like this. It was from a—”

“Skateboard accident,” we both said at the same time.

I’d fallen into an old fence, and it’d torn me to hell. I’d had to get stitches, and the scar never entirely faded.

He inhaled sharply. “Cooper?”

I answered on reflex. “Yeah, who—”

Rutledge?

He lifted his hands off me as if I’d burned him, taking a quick step back, his voice full of a horror that disoriented me. One moment everything was finally going right, and the next, he was leaping away from me.

I turned, taking a closer look at him. Dark hair, gorgeous beard, but those eyes…

My heart lurched, then skipped with an excited flutter. It couldn’t be, could it? But it was. I saw it written all over his face. Before me, looking like the daddy of my wet dreams, was a man I hadn’t seen in over ten years—my father’s best friend from our hometown.

“Trace?”

Out of Harm's Way (Balls and Brawn #1) by Rebecca James

I’m coming after you, baby boy. You’re going to pay for what you did.

The terrifying text message from Mick Water's abuser, recently escaped from prison, sends him spiraling into panic. His life is just getting back on track, and now he's constantly looking over his shoulder and barely able to sleep at night. When his friends arrange for a bodyguard for him, Mick feels a confusing combination of relief at having protection, dismay at the sheer size of his new bodyguard, and arousal due to Mick's attraction to big men. His ex was a big man, and Mick paid dearly for that attraction.

Oxford Bradley enjoys his job with Foster Security, which includes a mixed bag of high-stakes cases--some of them dangerous--and dull babysitting-type situations. When he isn't working, he prefers a serene life devoid of drama and, let’s face it, a somewhat vanilla sex life. Assigned to protect a terrified man from his abusive ex, Ox is horrified at his body’s reaction to not only Mick himself, but also Mick’s admission to a Daddy kink--he’s never had an unprofessional relationship with a client and he isn’t starting now.

As Mick warms up to Ox and the two men get to know one another, the attraction between them grows. Ox refuses to break his professional code, but what about when the danger's over? Living in different states, they can't possibly have more than a one-off, and the temptation to explore with this intriguing man is undeniable.

Will one night send Ox running back to his comfortable vanilla lifestyle, or will Mick help him find a new favorite flavor? And what happens when an opportunity presents itself for Ox to see Mick again?

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Out of Harm's Way is first book in the Balls and Brawn series. This Rebecca James tale is a great mix of bodyguard romance, danger, and sex.

Oz is hired to protect Mick after his ex escapes from prison. Oz is bisexual and can't deny his attraction to his subject. It's does take them a little while though, as they aren't going to allow Oz to eff up his assignment.

I felt bad for Mick immediately. The reader can feel his fear from the start, with plenty of fearful moments to follow.

The attraction and friendship that develops is sweet. And I love the long distance issues and how they play into the storyline.

Their story includes some steamy scenes, including dirty talk, lingerie, and some public sex. The risky sex is a delightful scene. But damn, I love Mick in a skirt.

The Daddy kink aspect of this story is very light. Yes, their sex life includes some Daddy moments, but it's few and far between.

The suspense and danger is riveting, with some twists and turns thrown in to keep things intriguing.

One of my favorite parts of the story involves Ox's parents. I don't want to give anything away, but it's both sad and satisfying.

Out of Harm's Way is a great read by Rebecca James. The combination of danger and action, with sex and romance, is all well done.

Scandal: (noun)

b: damage to reputation; public disgrace.

A boy searching for the truth.
A Daddy with a lot to hide.

Porter Jones has always lived two lives. To the world, he’s the mayor’s smart, successful and savvy chief of staff. Conservative, yet charming. Good at his job, without overshadowing his boss.

But underneath the controlled persona, Porter’s had to hide who he really is. A highly charged Dom with an unapologetically voracious appetite for sex, and that’s putting it mildly.

But when a mayoral sex scandal thrusts him into the spotlight, Porter’s private and public worlds collide. And the ruthless reporter who exposed the mayor now has his sights firmly on exposing Porter.

Declan Davies is doing life all wrong.

He’s too nice to be the ruthless reporter he needs to be to get ahead. So when he digs into the mayor’s past, he expects to maybe find a few unpaid parking tickets, not uncover Daylesford’s biggest political scandal. He can’t even do that right.

When Porter storms into Declan’s office demanding answers, sparks fly. But if Porter thinks Declan will be a pushover, he’s got another thing coming. And if Declan is obsessed with finding the truth, what will he do when he discovers who the real Porter Jones is?

My Rating - 4.5 Stars!

Scandal is a great book by Casey Cox. The fourth book in the 99 Daddies series, it's easily read as a standalone.

This tale has a sex scandal for the mayor that leaves Porter trying to help save the mayor's career. Porter himself is a man of two sides. One is the political career man. The other is a member of the BDSM scene. I love the way the two sides are so different, leaving him hiding his kinky side. He definitely struggles with juggling these two sides when Declan enters his life.

Declan's the reporter who started the scandal. His inability to understand BDSM is front and center. A man who lives with pain, as his scoliosis was never treated, he can't understand why anyone would welcome pain. And wow, what follows is fantastic.

The beauty comes about in Declan finally being able to explore his sexuality. With a past that made such things tabboo, it's wonderful to see him open his eyes and body to new things. And Porter does just that.

This is a kinky tale with bondage and more. It's a story about opening up, trusting, and understanding.

There's a major obstacle between the men, as their careers are in opposition of each other. What helps one in their career greatly hurts the other.

As for the subject of the scandal, it's extremely realistic that this event would made big news. But damn it, it's bullshit that it's a scandal. And yes, the author states this wonderfully. I love the way it's handled in the end. Honestly, you couldn't ask for a better ending.

I'm impressed with the way the author explains chronic pain. I have used a similar analogy of limited battery use verses rechargeable battery life. I always appreciate any understanding of this limited daily use of energy for anyone with chronic pain, physical disabilities, and mental disabilities.

And damn, I love the way the author handles Declan's physical issues. It's beautiful that he finds someone who helps him and appreciates him as he is.

I also enjoy the ultimate theme of accepting oneself and being able to express oneself as desired.

I love the writing style, which includes great dialogue and internal monologues. As well, the author throws in some nice twists and turns to make things even more interesting. There were definitely things I didn't see coming but delightfully welcomed. And, once again, I am surprised in general by the depth of this Casey tale.

Scandal starts a little slow, but in the end, I really love this tale. Casey Cox continued to impress me with this emotional series. I highly recommend it.

Forecast: (noun)
A calculation or estimate of future events, especially coming weather.
See also: Liam “I'm Always Right” Wright.

Not your typical Daddy. Not your typical boy.
Not your typical fake relationship.

Hudson Madden looks like the kind of guy you don’t want to piss off—he’s a walking wall of muscle, brightly tatted ink up both arms, and low grunts. But underneath it all, he’s a gentle giant. One who can’t find what he wants because of the assumptions people make:

He must be an alpha.
He must be a dominant Daddy.
He must be looking for a sweet, passive boy.

The truth is more complicated. Haunted by memories of a former lover, and interested in exploring types of sex that aren’t easily defined, Hudson is happy to harbour his innocent crush on the local weatherman.

Until said weatherman crush walks into Hudson’s gym and turns his life upside down.

Liam “I’m Always Right” Wright. It might be a cute catchphrase, but when it comes to love, Liam is always wrong.

Liam hasn’t got time for love. He’s got his sights set on the big time, becoming a prime time meteorologist on a major national TV station. He’ll do anything it takes to get the promotion, even if it means entering into a fake relationship to improve his chances.

A quick-fix, no-mess solution.

So why does it feel so right when Hudson looks at him, spends time with him, and gets to know him in a way that no one ever has?

Will Hudson be able to break down his walls and let Liam in? And when forced to choose between his career and love, will Liam be able to make the right choice?

My Rating - 4 Stars!

Casey Cox's Forecast is the third book in the 99 Daddies series. Like the others, it's a great read. It does start slow though, taking a while for things to get going.

Liam and Hudson's story is far from typical. The two meet at Hudson's gym, with Hudson long having a crush on the handsome weatherman. Sounds typical. But, both men are intriguing characters, fully experienced with loss and pain. And together their story isn't anything like what's normally written.

The gym is a good meeting place for the men, as the buff and tough Hudson helps the not so buff Liam to work out. It bring out the issues of body confidence, as Liam isn't comfortable with his body. The way that this carries out is wonderful, as Hudson is one who isn't all about his lovers having a buff body.

The fake relationship aspect is well done. I enjoy why and how the relationship comes about, as well as is carried out. And if you enjoy fake relationships where the lines become blurred and they fall in love, you will love this one. The development of their emotions is sweet.

And then there's the sexual aspect. It's a wonderful tale of sexual exploration between two men who aren't interested in the sexual norms. Hudson is a side, and with Hudson's help Liam is able to discover the beauty of sex. Their first times are hot, as well as emotional, including crowning and tantra scenes. Liam's sexual awakening through some sexual experimentation is touching for sure.

As well, this is far from your typical Daddy romance. In fact, one could easily read the whole book and never take note of the daddy role at all. When the author states Daddy-lite, they aren't kidding.

The writing is great. Yes, the start is slow. Yes, I almost stopped reading. (Which is why I had to rate it a 4.) But I am thrilled I didn't. The characters are extremely interesting and likeable, and their storyline is heartfelt, with some unique issues. Then add in some conflict, and by the end, the emotions are jumping off the pages.

Forecast is far from your average romance. Casey Cox excels in bringing a beautiful and touching romance to his fans, all with some of the non-traditional sex preferences. I love it this great tale of love and acceptance.
