When you see the world through the eyes of a child, there’s magic everywhere.

And crumbs. Lots of crumbs…

But that’s not going to stop Mike and Bryn Kneller from traveling with their nephew Liam at their side. Not that deciding to take the lad to visit Bryn’s homeland was an easy decision for the two recently wedded men despite how much they adore the boy. This trip was supposed to be a romantic anniversary trip after all.

However, life, as it does, tends to lead us down a path of its own choosing. Combining an unexpected announcement from a family member with the not-so-subtle pleadings of Bryn’s parents, the decision was made. With lots of hand sanitizer and a heaping helping of patience, the journey begins, leading Bryn and Mike to discover a great deal about themselves, their marriage, and their plans for the future.

My Rating - 5 Stars!

The World According to Liam is the fourth book in the According to Liam series by VL Locey. It's an amazing feel good read.

If you've been reading this series, you know how funny, precocious, and talkative Liam is. I can always count on him for a pick me up!

As for Mike and Bryn, it doesn't get much better than them. I love their relationship and every moment with them is like a gift. They are truly in love and their relationship is inspirational. I appreciate every moment I get with them.

In this part of their lives, we get to learn that Kelly is pregnant, Liam's being bullied, and the men are off for a work trip/vacation. Taking Liam to Germany with them leaves the readers with a lot to be delighted about. Liam's non-stop chatter is fabulous. Good god, I felt like I was there, listening to him in person. And omg, all his bathroom issues and comments are hysterical. He never fails to entertain.

Since the trip is due to a hockey thing in Europe for Bryn, there's a little bit of hockey talk as well. The author does a great job illustrating how often and how far hockey players travel. And taking Liam on the journey allows us to see the world through Liam's eyes. Thus the title is perfect.

Of course, there is much more to this story than just their trip. There's also a lot going on once they return home.

The transphobia against Liam's best friend Peter is heartbreaking. And the family issues for Bryn continue to be a large part of  their journey. It's a heartfelt aspect of the tale and a beautiful reminder to know one's worth and focus on those who appreciates you.

The writing is great as usual. Written in alternating first person pov, both men fully come alive. They're both lovable, funny, and their chemistry is smoking. And yes, I fully adore them taking advantage of their time away from Liam to get naked.

I love The World According to Liam. Every single moment of this VL Locey tale is wonderful. I can't recommend this series enough. This is a part of their ongoing story that I never even knew I needed. I will definitely be re-reading this one often.

Merry Measure is a fabulous romance by Lily Morton. From the start, it's super fun and adorable, sure to leave a smile on your face.

There is a lot to love about this romance. It's a brother's best friend romance. It has a family road trip. And the secondary characters are fabulous.

Jack and Alto's story is adorable, which a group of guys who are extraordinarily entertaining. They set off on a family trip and end up with some forced proximity, aka, a shared bed. The premise of the trip adds a ton of charm to the story. I just loved it all.

Their trip involves a group of guys who I adore and could read about forever, as well as an ex who's an ass. As for the family, of lordy, they are crazy in a wonderful way.

This is a tale with tons of snark and banter. It's full of crazy antics, chaos, accidents, and mishaps. And it's all marvelous.

The writing is superb, with everything fully coming to life, including the setting. The author had me smiling and laughing throughout.

Merry Measure is perfectly entertaining. Lily Morton combines plenty of humor with sweetness in this totally cute and heartwarming read. I absolutely love everything about this story. I can't wait to read it again.

Teaser 2

He laughs and makes his way out of the coffee shop, the crowd obligingly parting for him like he’s Jesus with a bread roll.

I follow him, attempting not to ogle the gorgeous swell of his bum in his jeans. It’s a losing battle and one I’ve fought since I was eleven and eating soup in the kitchen of my family home. Young Arlo had looked up and seen a vision at the door—Jack in sweaty football gear that clung to his fifteen-year-old body like glue. And then Young Arlo had promptly had several revelations about his sexuality. He’d had to shelve thinking about them for a few hours, however, because he inhaled a crouton and, while choking, fell over and knocked himself out on the kitchen table.

Not my finest moment, but looking back, not my worst either.

That summer, I spent several months following Jack and my brother around, much to my brother’s mystification, as we were at that point in our relationship where he frequently wanted to batter me. I ceased my youthful pursuit of Jack when two things happened. The first was that my brother threatened to pull off my arms and legs slowly and then tell mum, if I didn’t stop following him and impeding his wooing of his crush at the time. The second was that Jack got himself a girlfriend—Samantha Hampson. I’d wallowed in misery for at least a month, and then my natural optimism surfaced, telling me that he’d notice me soon and that Samantha was a total ho and unworthy of my beloved.

He never did notice me, of course. Samantha went the way of many of his girlfriends, and then, after he came out as bisexual, his boyfriends. They were all perfect-looking, and they dated exclusively and generally looked like something from toothpaste commercials. But invariably something went wrong, and they’d vanish, only to be replaced by the next perfect specimen.

I curl my lips at the thought of his latest one. Steven, who is spectacularly good-looking but also a complete twat. He’s cold and deeply possessive of Jack’s time, but Jack never seems to notice. My stomach roils a little at the thought that Steven has lasted longer than anyone else. Maybe this is it. They’ll get married and settle down and raise children or penguins, or whatever people in perfect relationships do.

Not that I’d know. My love life is as scatty as my timekeeping, and my partners have all largely become the stuff of family legends—hilarious stories to be related at family parties to newcomers, like the time my boyfriend from university got stupendously drunk and refused to talk to anyone apart from our family dog. After a full weekend of deep and meaningful chats, Fee-Fee looked like she was glad to see the back of us when we went back to uni.

I don’t think I ever expected Jack to look at me, though. I’m his best friend’s little brother. The nuisance whose knees he patched up after a fall and who he tried to teach how to fish until he had to give up when I fell in the river. He’d never look at disastrous me.

Unfortunately, even with this knowledge, I’ve never been able to completely shelve my youthful infatuation. Maybe because it was first love—intensely painful when it happens to you, like slamming your head into a kitchen table, but bits of it linger in lines on your heart. Maybe it’s also because he’s a genuinely lovely person, inside and out. He’s kind and thoughtful and clever and has never talked down to me.

Dine with Me by Layla Reyne

Blurb

Life never tasted so good.

Miller Sykes’s meteoric rise to award-winning chef is the stuff of culinary dreams, but it’s all crashing down around him. He’s been given a diagnosis that could cost him something even more precious than his life: his sense of taste. Rather than risk the very thing that defines him, Miller embarks on a last tour of his favorite meals while he still can.

But there’s a catch: he needs a financial backer to make it happen, and he doesn’t want anyone to know he’s sick.

Dr. Clancy Rhodes has two weeks to come to terms with putting aside oncology to work at his father’s thriving plastic surgery practice. When the opportunity to travel with a Michelin-starred chef presents itself, the foodie in him can’t believe it. It doesn’t hurt that Miller’s rugged good looks are exactly Clancy’s cup of joe.

As Clancy and Miller travel from coast to coast and indulge in everything from dive bars to the most decadent of culinary experiences, they’re suddenly sharing a lot more than delicious meals. Sparks fly as they bond over their love of flavors and the pressures of great expectations. But when Miller’s health takes a turn for the worse, Clancy must convince him he’s more—so much more—than just his taste buds. And that together, they can win a battle that once seemed hopeless.

Layne Reyne's Dine With Me took a hold of my heart early on and wouldn't let go.

Miller's life is changing, as he's a famous chef who's closing his restaurant. Of course, he has a secret, which he's guarding closely. While he can, he goes off on a food tour with Clancy. They're two strangers who end up getting close while traveling together.

I love the romance, the intrigue, but I don't care much for all the food descriptions. It just isn't my thing and I would have preferred less of the food details.

With Miller's sense of taste at the heart of his situation, it's an interesting aspect which is a new to me read. I'm not schooled in the diagnosis or it's treatment, but I definitely found it interesting.

The character growth in both men is wonderful in this story of choosing to fight, choosing love, and choosing family. It's an amazing tale of not giving up, not giving into negative thoughts.

Dine With Me is truly beautiful in the end. Miller is a fighter and with Clancy, their love can inspire anyone.

Northern Lights, by Georgia Moore, is an entertaining and atmospheric romance.

From the start I was excited to see a main character named Jensen. (As any Supernatural fan will be!)

Jensen's a straight guy who's recently divorced. His brother forces him to take a trip to Alaska with him. There everything changes, as Jensen is reunited with a former one night stand, Seph. Wait, that's right, Jensen isn't quite so straight after all.

Their story is sweet and refreshing, as well as emotional. They have to deal with hurt feelings, lack of communication, and a lack of trust from their old hookup. The author does a fantastic job with the Alaska descriptions, making for a fun vacation read.

Northern Lights is an enjoyable second chance romance. It's definitely a fun read.
